This Is Your Congress – NY Rep. Apologizes After Threat To Throw Journalist Off Balcony & "Break Him In Half"

Tyler Durden's picture

Grimm's statement last night...

I was extremely annoyed because I was doing NY1 a favor by rushing to do their interview first in lieu of several other requests. The reporter knew that I was in a hurry and was only there to comment on the State of the Union, but insisted on taking a disrespectful and cheap shot at the end of the interview, because I did not have time to speak off-topic. I verbally took the reporter to task and told him off, because I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect, especially when I go out of my way to do that reporter a favor. I doubt that I am the first Member of Congress to tell off a reporter, and I am sure I won’t be the last.

and his hurried apology this morning (via @sahilkapur )

The ubiquitous apology that solves all problems...

And the initial outburst...

Submitted by Mike Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

My home state of New York sure knows how to pick its Congressional Representatives. From Peter King, who for all intents and purposes thinks he is living the life of a capo in a real life Goodfellas movie, to Michael Grimm, another Republican Congressman, these people are literally thugs. As I have said before, I have a lot more respect for the mafia than I do for politicians and bankers, at least the mob faces jail time.

So here’s what happened. From Real Clear Politics:

After being asked by NY1 reporter Michael Scotto about the investigation, Grimm replied, “That’s off-topic. This is only about president’s speech,” and walked off camera.

Scotto briefly concluded his report, and Grimm — assuming the broadcast was over — returned to admonish the reporter. The camera remained on, however. “Let me be clear to you: You ever do that to me again, I’ll throw you off this f##king balcony,” Grimm threatened.

After a brief back-and-forth about the validity of the question, Grimm concluded, “No, no, you’re not man enough, you’re not man enough. I’ll break you in half. Like a boy.”

Never forget that these are the people voting on everything from your civil liberties to going to war. Frightening.

Heavens forbid that America would want a real man in Congress.

He is a former FBI agent, businessman, an attorney, and U.S. Marine, having served in the Persian Gulf War. He has served his country and thank God he did versus Pelosi and Reed. Can you imagine Pelosi and Reed under machine gun and mortar fire?

Yeah, great point. Electing people to Congress who have a history of mindlessly swallowing Government propaganda and happily killing other ignorant pawns from some other demonized country are just the answer to America's problems.

Looking forward to further, penetrating insights from you.

Just chatted about this with my attorney at the water cooler.  As far as he could tell this looks like a pretty clear admission of guilt.  He said the news agency would be silly not to press charges for attempted murder at this point.  He "guarrantees" the representative would settle or go to jail.

One would think with all those credentials he would support law abiding citizens.

He supports stripping citizens of their right to self defence.  He supports the SAFE act and a NICs check every time you purchase AMMO.

The SAFE NICs check is not free.  Its $10 per chec this year...and $20 next year.

So a box of .22 will cost almost 2x as much in NYS.  F U Cuomo and thos RINOs who support this crapola.

Well, this is really no surprise. You have to be a sociopath shitbird on at the very least some level to want to rule others. Grimm...aptly named.

Well, he's obviously a prick thug, so he'll go far in the diabolical system.  He said I'm sorry, so it's OK.  He just had a rough day, needs to blow off some steam by slapping around a couple of whores and knifing a homeless person.

This reporter guy might want to have a food taster for awhile.

Yup!

Malice

The intentional commission of a wrongful act, absent justification, with the intent to cause harm to others; conscious violation of the law that injures another individual; a mental state indicating a disposition in disregard of social duty and a tendency toward malfeasance.

In its legal application, the term malice is comprehensive and applies to any legal act that is committed intentionally without Just Cause or excuse. It does not necessarily imply personal hatred or ill feelings, but rather, it focuses on the mental state that is in reckless disregard of the law in general and of the legal rights of others. An example of a malicious act would be committing thetort of slander by labeling a nondrinker an alcoholic in front of his or her employees.

Rep. Moran, who recently retired, was also well known for threatening violence on fellow congressman, constituents an and even little boys who threatened him with a 'finger pistol'. I like these guys. We need more bullies, drunken brawlers and politicians who aren't afraid to speak their mind or even physically assault reporters. We'd have a more manly Congress and tougher reporters who would put more than a microphone in the face of a legislator.  Imagine watching "Meet the Press" where reporters and politicians actually fought in cage matches. Ratings would soar.

"In 2011, The New Yorker magazine reported that Grimm had been the subject of an internal investigation into allegations he abused his authority as a FBI agent in a nightclub in 1999. According to the article,[3] written by Evan Ratliff, the incident resulted from a dispute between Grimm and his date's husband. A former NYPD officer working as a bouncer at the time said that Grimm remarked about the husband, "I’ll fucking make him disappear where nobody will find him." Grimm reportedly then returned to the nightclub twice, pulled out his gun once, and brought FBI and NYPD officers the second time."

"Since 2008, he has co-owned and served as principal and chief executive officer of Austin Refuel Transport, an Austin, Texas-based bio-fuel company.[14] Grimm still owns 28% of the company.[15] Since 2011, the company had eleven safety violations in its first two U.S. Department of Transportation checkups."

Hey, kids, here’s a new frontier in “constituent service” — when a college student wrote a letter to New Hampshire state Sen. Andy Sanborn (not to be confused with the “dick in a box” guy) arguing for the decriminalization of marijuana, the good lawmaker sent back a personal reply — and even did the student the favor of looking up his name and threatening to report the kid’s pro-weed opinions to the organization that had given him a scholarship. This is the sort of responsiveness and meddling that we so seldom see in our big impersonal government anymore.

Well, at least Grimm was making illegal immigrant, Ofer Biton (of Israel), PAY to get into the U.S.!!! Maybe we should be charging immigrants a shit load of money for citizenship...It might help balance one of the many budgets!.

At least he wasn't offering the Israeli free food, free medical, free housing, and free education, to bless us with his presence in our nation!!

I think the only thing the guy did wrong was he kept the money for himself instead of forking it over to the fucking treasury department.

In fact, I think all the Israelis should be able to buy citizenship into the U.S. (charge 'em 100K a head or more), they fucking own the government anyways!! If they are all over here we won't have to fork out billions every year to them.

Resign? What kind of world is it where we can't verbally take someone to task for being an a-hole? It's not like he actually threw anyone off a balcony, he was just angry and spoke his mind. He's also a veteran and I'm sure has other accomplishments that trump this 5 seconds of losing his cool.  I can't believe this is news, much less zerohedge worthy.

Politicians don't resign when they actually do something that hurts people, why would you ask for a resignation for something that is so minor? I want to throw you off a balcony for not seeing the forest for the trees.
