Third Banker, Former Fed Member, "Found Dead" Inside A Week

Tyler Durden's picture

If the stock market were already crashing then it would be simple to blame the dismally sad rash of dead bankers in the last week on that - certainly that was reflected in 1929. However, for the third time in the last week, a senior financial executive has died in what appears to be a suicide. As Bloomberg reports, following the deaths of a JPMorgan senior manager (Tuesday) and a Deutsche Bank executive (Sunday), Russell Investments' Chief Economist (and former Fed economist) Mike Dueker was found dead at the side of a highway in Washington State. Police said the death appeared to be a suicide.

Via Bloomberg,

Mike Dueker, the chief economist at Russell Investments, was found dead at the side of a highway that leads to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington state, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. He was 50.

He may have jumped over a 4-foot (1.2-meter) fence before falling down a 40- to 50-foot embankment, Pierce County Detective Ed Troyer said yesterday. He said the death appeared to be a suicide.

Dueker was reported missing on Jan. 29, and a group of friends had been searching for him along with law enforcement. Troyer said Dueker was having problems at work, without elaborating.

Dueker was in good standing at Russell, said Jennifer Tice, a company spokeswoman. She declined to comment on Troyer’s statement about Dueker’s work issues.

But as Michael Snyder noted recently, if the stock market was already crashing, it would be easy to blame the suicides on that.  The world certainly remembers what happened during the crash of 1929...

Historically, bankers have been stereotyped as the most likely to commit suicide. This has a lot to do with the famous 1929 stock market crash, which resulted in 1,616 banks failing and more than 20,000 businesses going bankrupt.

The number of bankers committing suicide directly after the crash is thought to have been only around 20, with another 100 people connected to the financial industry dying at their own hand within the year.

Dueker had also been a research economist at the St. Louis Fed:

He published dozens of research papers over the past two decades, many on monetary policy, according to the St. Louis Fed’s website, which ranks him among the top 5 percent of economists by number of works published. His most-cited work was a 1997 paper titled “Strengthening the case for the yield curve as a predictor of U.S. recessions,” published by the reserve bank while he was a researcher there.

So, with stocks a mere 4% off their highs, are so many high ranking and well respected bankers committing suicide?

"Why are so many high ranking and well respected bankers committing suicide?"

Maybe because somebody has to take the lead. Politicians next, one hopes, followed closely by high-ranking spooks.

Oh, man. Let me read what I wrote once more. Nope. I didn't assume or suggest anything.

All I said was this form of exit strategy is "sad." And it is. This particular case, however, needs further investigation.

Even a scumbag banker knows rolling down a forty foot embankment in Tacoma will only get him cold, wet and muddy.

But we all know the case is closed.

So many very good posts have been made about this banker's questionable suicide. No honest person on earth will miss this guy, not even his family. The traits he had at work, were the traits he had at home. His family is probably glad to see the backside of him. We need to call the scum what they are, fucking scum. He lived off of Bernanke's Central Bank support, trading in a real free market, this man would have ended up as just another homeless bum on the streets of New York. Don't lose sleep over these people. They are the enemies of real free market capitalism, the kind where productive people prosper, bankers are fucking leeches.

Fri, 01/31/2014 - 17:40 | 4389437 W74

I also believe the families of these people to be questionable folks as well.  How can you let someone work in that kind of industry and delude yourself into thinking they go to work every day to do an honest job?

The houses their wives and children dwell in, the food they eat, the cars they drive, the vacations they enjoy......all brought about by labor they did not perform, food they did not grow, houses they did not build, vinyards they did not plant, wells they had no hand in digging.

It is all fraudulent and they all know it.  Theft is not production.  I have zero sympathy.  Having said that, those who "suicided" this man are an even worse crowd, and those who ordered the hit, greater still.

Frankly alot of times the family are clueless as like with the Mafia they most try not to bring their work home and keep their kids isolated from it. The wives on the other hand if they do figure it out they don't leave in most cases and if they do they sure as hell are happy to keep being paid in alimony that ill gotten money afterwards, for the children. Guilotine the wives also, sterlize the children but let them live. Sterilizing their children effectively ends the bloodlines without bloodshed.

having hunted in the mountains I don't see jumping down a 5 story tall steep hillside as a sure thing to death.  Life as a paraplegic maybe.  I just don't see it.  And someone said in an earlier post that suicide could be honorable to get life insurance to a destitute family?  Huh?  Taking your own life honorable?  Yikes.  I say never be worth more dead than alive.  The wifes nickname is Wolverine and I already sleep with one eye open.  I can't incentivize my death if we ever have a spat.  Jumping down a hill from a bridge?  Don't buy it.  Like the London banker from 33 floors down to 11 on a flat landing area?  Yup that is a committed jumper.

This has happened before. After 9/11, it was noticed that 11 microbiologists had met "untimely" deaths. Was this coincidence, statistical clumping?

When the Miami Police first found Benito Que, he was slumped on a desolate side street, near the empty spot where he had habitually parked his Ford Explorer. At about the same time, Don C. Wiley mysteriously disappeared. His car, a white rented Mitsubishi Galant, was abandoned on a bridge outside of Memphis, where he had just had a jovial dinner with friends. The following week, Vladimir Pasechnik collapsed in London, apparently of a stroke.

The list would grow to nearly a dozen in the space of four nerve-jangling months. Stabbed in Leesburg, Va. Suffocated in an air-locked lab in Geelong, Australia. Found wedged under a chair, naked from the waist down, in a blood-splattered apartment in Norwich, England. Hit by a car while jogging. Killed in a private plane crash. Shot dead while a pizza delivery man served as a decoy.

What joined these men was their proximity to the world of bioterror and germ warfare. Que, the one who was car-jacked, was a researcher at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Wiley, the most famous, knew as much as anyone about how the immune system responds to attacks from viruses like Ebola. Pasechnik was Russian, and before he defected, he helped the Soviets transform cruise missiles into biological weapons. The chain of deaths -- these three men and eight others like them -- began last fall...

'Sick Kids Denied Specialty Care Due to Obamacare in Washington' (the State)

"Administrators at Seattle Children's today said they predicted this would happen, and it's even worse than they expected," says the local news anchor. "Patients being denied specialty treatment at the hospital by insurance providers on the Washington health benefits exchange. Children's filed request on behalf of 125 of their patients. Of those, they say they got only 20 responses, eight of which were denials. Dr. Sandy Melzer says all this comes after reassurances of certain unique specialty cases would still be covered."

Dr. Sandy Melzer says, "Well, some of the patients who were denied are ones who clearly would fall into that unique category. A two-year-old with new significant neck mass that was being evaluated for infection or malignancy, an older child with a chronic severe medical condition requiring multidisciplinary care here, a baby that had a skull abnormality."

Pay very close attention to the symptoms in the children who the insurers are refusing to pay for – radiation exposure symptoms.

Here it comes, fast and hard. Kill the kids first.

And right on the heels of Davos. We never get the real story of what happens at DAVOS except what they want the public to hear and see. The real jusice happens behind the curtains. Some of these guys may be figuring it out that the alternative media was right all along about the Elites they have been representing. Russell Investments uses DELL Data Center to store there data, as does the U.S. Government, in particular the FBI, although there are other Govt agencies storing data at DELL also.

It's getting really hard to separate what is government and what is corporation these days, they've melded so much. These Jumpers and Hangers are people who have bought into the system so much, they can't separate themselves from it when their reality gets shaken and truth begins to shine in. They'd rather die than accept the truth. No surprises here.
