Very Good! Jefferson stated several prediction of what would constitute bad Government 200 years ago! It's very significant today!
So, let’s see what our most “Far Seeing” President Jefferson thought so important that he warned all future generations:“The Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.” “A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!” “If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as the souls who live under tyranny.” “Experience has shown that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.”“The end of democracy and the defeat of the American Revolution will occur when government falls into the hands of lending institutions and moneyed incorporations.” (Author’s Note: The Federal Reserve falls into this category).“I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarms only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” President Jefferson’s words written in the late 1700’s, over 200 years ago are prophetic and apply especially today! They define realities of today. President Jefferson counted them as signs of future dangers of lost democracy to all citizens. Your comments are in good company! hedgemastermb.blogspot.com
I think your comment was very good save for the "Nazi" references.
Obama is a puppet, just the front-man, do these people appear to be "Nazis" to you?
Rahm Israel Emanuel, who is named after a Lehi (Stern Gang) terrorist named Rahamim Cohen, and David Axelrod have been working together since 1984 when they teamed up to help Paul Simon (Mr. Bowtie) defeat Sen. Charles Percy (R-Ill.).
These two hard-core Zionists were not working for reform in Illinois; their only agenda was to defeat the incumbent Sen. Percy because he was the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and was pushing for a settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. These Zionist gangsters went on to support the Chicago mayoral campaign of Richard M. Daley, the son of Richard J. Daley. These two Zionists spearheaded the campaign to put Barack Obama into the White House. Axelrod and Emanuel, however, were being supported by a much higher Zionist -- Bettylu Saltzman, the daughter of Chicago's super-Zionist Philip Klutznick.
Axelrod has been creating and shaping Candidate Obama for more than 21 years. "Axelrod met Obama when the senator was 30 years old and coordinating a voter-registration drive in Chicago and Bettylu Saltzman, a doyenne of progressive politics in Chicago, suggested that the two get to know each other," the New York Times reported in early 2007. "In the 15 years since, Axelrod has worked through Obama's life story again and again, scouring it for usable political material.
Bettylu Saltzman has been supporting and financing Obama's political career since 1992, long before he ran for any office. Saltzman is the only daughter of the super-Zionist Philip Klutznick. In 1992, when Obama was 30 years old, Saltzman told Axelrod and others, "He will be our first black president.'' Saltzman then commissioned Axelrod to create Obama, the presidential candidate.
"For the most part, the people of this Republic, over time, have allowed nearly everything our Founding Fathers admonished us not to do through the Founding Documents, to happen."
This is a major problem, not just with us but everywhere and it revolves around a term bandied about as being a good thing, even promoted as such...democracy.
People percieve "an issue" (real or imagined) needing some form of resolution and they now, instinctively, ask federal authorities to fix it. Whether they realize it or not, they are helping it grow ever larger everytime they ask something of it...until they wake up one day and say "We didn't ask you to spy on us, we asked you to keep us safe." Or..."We didn't ask you to enrich the banks further, we asked you to feed the poor."...its a long list and there's plenty to pick from but you can be sure it stands ready for you to ask something of it, just don't count on the results being what you fully anticipated.
But my point all along has been, stop asking the Feds to do shit, thats on us to do.
I've fought the inclination to move toward term limits as long as I can. My thought had always been that the people "term limit" them naturally by having elections. The sad truth about us (collectively) is, we will vote in whoever promises us moar goodies and the longer they stay there, the more power they amass to provide those goodies. They lose any concept of being out here and having to pay for those goodies...so, two terms in the senate max, three in the house max, then back out into the real world and new blood comes in.
And then, national debt.
It is a moral evil to impose our debts on future generations. It is also ethically untenable for the living to profit from its issuance into the future where we (the present) have neither the ability or even a concern about ever repaying it. So yes, if we are to stay in this asinine debt issuance paradigm (where government debt doesn't matter but our individual debts do) then debt jubilee is the only answer I can see. But its huge, probably selective defaults for a hundred years, then jubilee thereafter to wipe it out.
Debt is not an asset, whoever said it was is either a maniac who enjoys playing Russian Roulette or is running a very large counterfeiting operation completely unconcerned with where the actual money to loan comes from ;-)
Being guilty of this myself I can see the truth of what you say.
I just wanted to be left alone to live my life in peace.
I sat and feasted on the fruits my forfathers left in place for my benafit, never thinking of those generations who would never know the Country I grew up in.
Nmewn I have closely read and reread many of your posts over a long time with the intent of broadening my own perspective.
Hats off to you for your eloquence, your ability to provide clarity dealing with abstract issues.
I fully agree with all your points today. Unfortunately, I don't have the answers either. I am concerned that as soon as term-limits would be imposed, people would figure out a way to take advantage of that, as well. Thirty and forty year career politicians definitely need to become a thing of the past, though. The sooner, the better. My single vote sure makes it seem an uphill battle.
I wish I could identify the catalyst that will spur us "collectively" to take control of our own futures. Does it have to be hard experience, gleaned from a life suddenly turned short, nasty, and brutish, that finally overcomes the Sheeple's complacency, or brings about that cultural shift? God forbid we have to undergo such a societal transformation as members of communities whose values are substantively different from the turn of the century generation. Human life is a seemingly cheap commodity these days.
I am looking to others, such as yourself, for answers. It seems we agree on the problems, but what are the fixes?
Well, here is a fix that would go a long way toward delivering us a better class of politicians.
Change the laws regarding campaing finance in a radical way, as in if you can't cast a vote, you can't make a contribution....period. Then, set strict limits on maximum amounts and require full disclosure.
Take out ALL corporate money, union money, and foreign money. ALL...PERIOD.
Suddenly, all these political machines would dry up. These professional politicians with multi-million dollar war chests would have to get their money back in the home districts from the voters - one by one. No longer would smear campaigns driven by saturation TV ads pollute the airways.
As campaigns became cheaper (much cheaper), we would start getting a whole new class of people running for office. People known in their communities, districts, regions, etc., for civic acheivement and good character could run regardless of having deep pockets or being backed by special interest money.
Without the influence of special interest money, the Federal budget would be far more likely to see spending allocated in a way more beneficial to the general well being of the citizens. Then, too, when there were problems, they would be identified and fixed much faster.
And, here is a fix that would give us a better class of citizens.
Bring back the military draft, or some form of universal service, for 18 year olds to begin instilling commonality back into the population that we once had...and get rid of this 'professional' (mercenary) military defense machine we have built - that really has little to do with defense at all, but instead is used for offense and subjugation. There is no faster, more certain way to prevent military mis-adventure than to have a citizen army.
Of course, the politians will never go along with point one, and point 2 is generally unpopular with the weak & ignorant masses, so I really don't expect America to be rescued by some new bust of internal character.
...[I]f you can't cast a vote, you can't make a contribution... Then, set strict limits on maximum amounts and require full disclosure. -- 11b40
And why should political contributions be allowed to cross political boundaries? Or, asked another way, why should a person resident in one state be giving campaign contributions to a candidate in another state?
Well, thanks. I do try to break down the complicated (as I understand it) into the more day to day things so people can relate to it.
But some aren't going to like or agree with what I have to say as more peaceful solutions and mine are just that (my opinion) which may or may not be the best solution(s).
For instance, I don't believe someone who is a ward of the state should be able to vote until they remove themselves from its assistance. I'm talking about welfare here, foodstamps/EBT and the like with a twist further down. I know that seems unreasonable & harsh to treat someone down on their luck or has had misfortune that way. But I look at it this way, you or I could decide to tax ourselves (or not) for any given issue and do it from the perspective of what we think is best for society, what we can afford and our best governace.
I don't believe a ward of the state can look at it that way and make a solid judgement because of their circumstances and there will always be the pandering politician promising the moon & stars for that vote.
"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money." - Alexis de Tocqueville
And here's the nmewn twist, for any corporation recieving government subsidy, its board & officers all the way down to first line management don't get to vote either, welfare is welfare, they chose to accept it and it carries the same consequence ;-)
Delayed gratification. A property that individials or cultures have to a greater or lesser extent.
I was going to say there won't be a planned debt jubilee, but then remembered the Chrysler bondholders. Debt jubilee will only happen when the issue is forced, and then to the advantage of the favored and disadvantage of others. "Never let an opportunity go to waste."
Alright, here goes... If anyone is even still on this thread, bear with me. I am still working this out in my mind. But I wonder if it's doable.
ZHers aren't generally bitching about what's going on in their individual States, but about the FED. Most here don't seem pissed off at the U.S. Constitution, but rather, at how it has been corrupted.
I didn't mean what's needed is just a debt jubilee for the FED.gov per se, in that it only addresses the issue of canceling the Federal debt. I meant a term limit for FED.gov
Here is how:
Pick a number of years within 0-240. It took us this long to totally fuck things up. So, for the sake of argument, make it 100 years. That is practically an eternity for most modern Americans, and is a lot of years in which much can happen.
Through the Constitutional Amendment Process, advocate for an amendment that clearly and unequivocally states at the end of every one hundred years, the Federal Government genie is put back in it's bottle, back to it's size both in scope and practice as it was immediately after the first Congress was seated, the first President was inaugurated, and the Bill of Rights established, the year 1789.
Not much would have to be done at the State level, except maybe a weaning off for some from the FED.gov. Otherwise, the physical infrastructure of the Country already exists under the care of the States. The States can provide continuity across the Country during the process. If your State is fucked up at that point, move.
At the end of 100 years when a FED.gov jubilee/reset takes place, all of the existing Federal Government that has been created in excess of what is expressly enumerated as Federal powers in the original Constitution instantly goes away, and the slate is wiped clean. No more IRS, no more Federal Reserve, Social Security, Americans with Disabilities Act, no more fiat currency, no more NSA, no more foreign entanglements, no more war on drugs or terror, no more Obama-care, no more USPS, EPA, TSA, Homeland Defense, space program, UN/IMF membership, NAFTA, ANYTHING, until it is all worked out again over the next few years based on who We The People elect and the States delegate within the Republic to represent at the time of a FED.gov jubilee/reset.
The model going forward after each FED.gov jubilee/reset is what has been learned to work, deemed useful, or learned to be untenable over the past one hundred years or more. Succeeding generations get a guaranteed say so in their future, along with the responsibility. But, the FED.gov within the Republic will always be starting again each time after each FED.gov jubilee/reset from its founding base, the Constitution.
At first glance it sounds all fucked up, but is it really? Tell me why it can't be done. In my opinion, it is a better alternative than just riding this out, waiting idly to see just how much damage an Obama, Bush or those of their ilk and TPTB can get away with.
Read it. Do you thing the political class would allow themselves to be deprived of power? They exist by redistribution of "money" to priveledged classes.
Most Americans have given up looking ahead and planning for the future. Me. Now.
I made the argument yesterday in another online forum I frequent that the 17th amendment should be repealed, and only one and a half of the other posters understood this. With the rest it flew right over their heads (with them using many of the same arguments people were using in the first decade of the last century to be sure).
The election of US Senators by state legislatures was the last bridge for the states to be able to keep the federal government in check. These days each Senator faces a popularity contest to get reelected and are just glorified members of the house who serve longer and are of a smaller body, the states themselves have no real say over the Senators they send to Capitol Hill.
The so called 'opposition', puts forth the wrong question. They question Obama's authority to make executive orders. Of course Obama can make executive orders, he is the head executive and that comes with the job. The real question is authority, scope and jurisdiction. But those words apply to a multitude of government actions, and it may be a bit too risky to allow them to enter into the conversation.
further, this is something that has happened before, in the US, and it needs three ingredients:
the House with a majority of party X, the Senate with a majority of party Y, the President with a similar agenda as party Y and not facing reelection
executive orders are constitutional, as such. and the nice thing about executive orders, they are subject to federal laws, not only the constitution
just commenting on constitutional principles in general, in Europe we have similar constellations of use of decrees (our form of executive orders, though I note that the word in English has an authoritarian/tyrannical sound)
They are not constitutional when used to circumvent or alter legislative law or judicial intent, they become tyrannical.
For instance, he has no authority to delay or modify certain aspects of his own health care law. We have equal branches of government here (supposedly) they all signed off on it, he can't modify it (legally) at his sole discretion or it ceases to be any form of constitutional law we know of.
Depending on, putting faith in, a proven liar to do the right thing through executive orders is a little bit of a stretch for most of us.
Obama & Cass Sunstein should make a shit sandwiche with their new US Constitution, and inside the paper-wrapper is the FSA, all 180 million of the USA citizens that get US treasury checks every month.
Then everybody in the USA eat that shit sandwich and die, but those who don't want to eat the shit-sandwiche should leave soon, before its too late to leave.
The end of the USA is near. It's only going to get fucking worse, and no fucking 'savior' is going to come to the rescue, telling that in all USA history, nobody ever rescued the public from the shit-sandwiche, and its not going to happen now.
Let AIPAC, and his team fuck this selves to death, and in time perhaps 10+ years enough of them will have perished that we can return and 'fix' the USA.
*
When you have almost 70% of a PUBLIC on the DOLE, just talking about revolution is non-sense, if 90% were starving and 10% were eating, ok I could see a revolution, but the USA has clevery designed a parasite on the HOST fed by the world, and the world is fucking god damn tired of the USA.
WHich is why I say you got to leave soon, cuz come a day, nobody will take USA refugees.
Suggest you take a real good look around at the rest of the world. If you want to leave, please do, but you might want to get a clear understanding of what your new host country will be like, and how they view (and treat) ex-pats.
There are reasons so many people who want to leave their own country set their sights on America, especially the ones with money.
OK. Now that eveyone has let off steam it is time to go back to watching TV. Tommorow there will be more fuck you in the ass news waiting for you. But fear not, you will get use to it soon enough. It wont hurt as much as you grow numb, day by day,
Revoultion ? Who is going to start it ? Everyone is waiting for SOMEONE to do SOMETHING. It is OK, it is only human nature.
Where are the Gay Marriage Ammendment, the You have to buy crappy but expensive health insurance ammendment, the abortion ammendment, the Open Boarders Ammendment, the Free Shit for Everyone Ammendment and the I don't need no Constitution ammendment?

The end of the USA is near. It's only going to get fucking worse, and no fucking 'savior' is going to come to the rescue, telling that in all USA history, nobody ever rescued the public from the shit-sandwiche, and its not going to happen now.
Let AIPAC, and his team fuck this selves to death, and in time perhaps 10+ years enough of them will have perished that we can return and 'fix' the USA.

Blah, blah, blah, leave.
Suggest you take a real good look around at the rest of the world. If you want to leave, please do, but you might want to get a clear understanding of what your new host country will be like, and how they view (and treat) ex-pats.
There are reasons so many people who want to leave their own country set their sights on America, especially the ones with money.
To all the people that voted for this POS...
FUCK YOU, YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKERS.
You're a fucking idiot. Please go kill yourself.
Don't hold it in! Don't hold back! It's unhealthy!
You can probably extend that same sentiment to nearly every president for the last 150 years. I might cut Grover Cleveland some slack.
