Ukraine Military Reveals Protesters Stole Weapons Cache; Guilty Of "Terrorist Acts"

Tyler Durden's picture

With Putin hoping that they can just keep it from going full civil war for a few more days, Ukraine continues to slide towards a dismal result. This morning sees the next level of escalation in the break-away Western region:

  • *UKRAINE'S SECURITY SERVICE SAYS WEAPONS CACHE STOLEN: INTERFAX
  • *UKRAINE SECURITY SERVICE SAYS PROTESTERS SEIZED 1,500 GUNS
  • *UKRAINE SERVICE SAYS PROTESTERS SEIZED 100,000 ROUNDS OF AMMO
  • *UKRAINE SERVICE SAYS PROTESTERS GUILTY OF `TERRORIST ACTS'

And with that, the 'excuse' the military needed to get involved as Interfax reports the Ukraine's SBU starts "Anti-terrorist" operation in the Western region of Ivano-Frankvisk. With 25 dead and 241 injured, according to the AP, we suspect these numbers are sadly just the start.

Via Interfax,

Volodymyr Porodko, deputy head of the Ukrainian Security Service, said weapons and ammunition have been stolen from the Ukrainian Security Service department in Ivano-Frankivsk.

"A total of 268 service pistols, two rifles, three assault rifles, 92 grenades, and some 15,000 cartridges were seized in the Ukrainian Security Service department in Ivano-Frankivsk," he said while meeting with foreign ambassadors in the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

Russia is starting to comment:

Extremists are to blame for the events happening in Ukraine, however opposition forces, which refused the compromise, and Western countries, which interfered in the domestic affairs of Ukraine, bare some responsibility as well, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Of course, the blame is on extremists, who tried all these weeks and all these months to bring the situation to such forceful scenario but considerable share of responsibility is also on opposition activists, who refused compromise, gave the authorities demands outside the legal frame and in the end turned out to be incapable to fulfill what has been agreed," Lavrov said at a news conference following a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart.

Ukraine CDS spiked to 4 year highs...

So sad. My father's family is from Lviv. First the Germans, then the Soviets, now the Russians. How devastating.

Its the Russians. They may live in the Ukraine but they are Russians. I do see the fat finger of the CIA here though. I doubt insurrection would have happened were it not for some prodding of the hornet's nest.

Patriotic Americans, the Soviet press release and verbiage is a wonderful template for the way our Fedcoats will portray the future resistance to their incremental tyranny.  OTOH, confiscating the weapons caches of the tyrants is a GREAT way to improve the odds for the resistance.  I'm sure all those newly-armed Federal agencies, including the IRS and DHS are taking notes as well.  How richly ironic that now any IRS office could be viewed as a resupply depot for hollowpoint ammunition.

One would almost think that the tip of the spear is using the same inverted Marxist techniques being used to destroy us internally to teach us (those paying attention anyways)something at the same time, you know like dissecting a pig in science class as an analog to using a real human.....

Naw couldn't be.

I should move to Delphi.

Just got done commenting about a civil war turning to a world war on the last Ukraine thread.

Gotta have guns for a proper war and here we are.

Why not have the highlight of Sochi Olympics a bare-chested wrestling match between Lurch and Putin?

Ratings gold.

Looks like civil war preparation... More victims unfortunatelly. Noeighbour countries (Bielaruss, Poland, Slovakia) should be prepared for millions of refugees from Ukraine in next months... So sad.

All of this - is just the matter of money and geopolitics.

For anyone interested, reddit has a stickythread with constant updates, people posting pictures from right there in the action. Great place to ask questions to actual protestors and get real truthful responses. Something is going on about the use of snipers and such, or if it's just scared police unloading automatic weapons from windows above. Crazy.

(Zerohedge's article was posted on there with decently good response which is rare on reddit)

The lesson to be learned is 'that you do not own your weapons unless you are standing next to them holding one of your own and are prepared to use it.' Any government leaving weapons caches unattended during times of civil unrest maybe does not deserve to continue...

You don't know if the weapon caches were unattended to or not when they where lifted.

But the point can't be stressed enough weapon confiscation isn't an impediment to removing an established government if you have enough determined (on the payroll) people.

So arms were "stolen" by taxpayers? Who owned them? Rather, who paid for them?
According to the man who is known as Barack Obama, the government is "us", so how could the people steal from themselves?

To give a bit of historical background on Ukraine and its significance on the world stage:

Ukraine is the largest country in Europe, bigger than France.

Because of its fertile lands, Ukraine was the breadbasket of Europe.  Was.

The deliberate starvation and murder of some 7-10 million Ukrainians by Lenin's Bolsheviks (whose leadership were mainly Jews and they were non-Russians) was to use the harvest and the possessions of the Ukrainians to repay the Wall Street financiers (their fellow Jews) for the financing of the Bolshevik Revolution.  It was purposefully mislabeled as the "Ukrainian Famine", whereas it was engineered by the then Soviets for that explicit purpose.

Taken from Michael Walsh's seminal book, "Witness To History":

"There is much in the fact of Bolshevism itself, in the fact that so many Jews are Bolsheviks, in the fact that the ideals of Bolshevism at many points are consonant with the finest ideals of Judaism." - Jewish Chronicle, April 4. 1919.

"Will you say for me to those present at tonight's meeting how deeply I regret my inability to celebrate with the Friends of Russian Freedom the actual reward of what we hoped for and striven for these long years! " - Jacob Schiff (of the New York bankers, 'Kuhn, Loeb & Co). - New York Times, March 24. 1917.

"Today it is estimated even by Jacob Schiff's grandson, John Schiff, a prominent member of New York society, that the old man sank about $20,000,000 for the final triumph of Bolshevism in Russia." - Cholly Knickerbocker, N.Y American Journal, February 3. 1949.

Are we today at that "Poland '39" redux again?  With Russia playing the part of Germany?

Where did Jacob Schiff get $20 million? The City of London is the birthplace of Marxism. Karl Marx was born in Germany, but he lived and died in London.

Energy Forum Highlights: SWAT Analysis of the Ukrainian Coal Sector

http://ukrainian-energy.com/en/interviews_articles/show/show/details/349

There are some rich first class coal deposits in western Ukraine, unexplored and waiting to develop.

Coal deposits from eastern Ukraine are old and with every year more expensive in mining.

http://www.rudmet.ru/journal/830/article/12741/

1. The basic prospects of its further development are connected with Southwest carboniferous area where Tjaglovsky and Lyubelsky deposits with rare sorts of coal (Zh and K) were examined and are examining now. Reserves of these coals are estimated almost 2 billion tons.
2. The available raw-material base of the basin at 2011 allows to construct 8–10 mines with total capacity about 10 million tons.
3. Carrying out specialized works on methane is rather actual. It is connected with the fact that coal layers and breeds of coal deposits contain industrial concentration of this gas. Forecast resources of hydrocarbonic gases are estimated about almost 20 billion cubic meter.
4. It is represented expedient to consider the problem at the governmental level about joint development of the coal industry of Ukraine and Poland to boundary territory of Lviv- Volyn coal basin.

And shale gas in Lviv (Lublin) basin west Ukraine

The country’s gas reserves have geologic similarities to its neighbor Poland, and the Lublin basin could be 10 to 15 times the size of the Barnett shale. It also suffers less from population and water issues that plague its neighbor to the northwest.

Wanting to know WHY they were protesting, I found this eslewhere:

"Nationwide demonstrations erupted after Yanukovich bowed to Russian pressure and pulled out of a planned far-reaching trade agreement with the European Union, deciding instead to accept a Kremlin bailout for the heavily indebted economy."

Did I miss a previous explanation here about WHY that matters so much to them?

Israeli ex-officer leads Ukraine protests: Reports

As I recall, there were alot of Israelis in Georgia during that little dust up a little ways back {and a handful who own gas companies in Stanistan}

Oh yeah, including Georgia's defense miniter....

Kezerashvili is a founding member of the liberal United National Movement, and contested an election in 2002 under their banner.[4] He is also a close personal ally of the party's leader, Georgian President Saakashvili.[5]

Shalva Natelashvili of the Georgian Labour Party criticized Kezerashvili's appointment, arguing that he "has never served in the army... doesn't even have the title of sergeant and has no clue about the armed forces."[6]As chief of the financial police, Kezerashvili received criticism for heavy-handed tactics in raiding businesses.[7]

Kezerashvili was dismissed from his post of the defence minister on December 5, 2008 during a major cabinet shuffle. His dismissal was expected in the aftermath of Georgia's defeat in the 2008 South Ossetia War.[8] Davit Kezerashvili is succeeded by former ambassador to the US, Vasil Sikharulidze.

What are the odds, eh?

And of course, the oligarchs in Ukraine, many of them, more than you'd expect for 0.7% of the population, sure do own a lot of the newspapers and tv stations and mines and banks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ihor_Sorkin

But I'm sure an honest person would conclude that this has absolutely no bearing on the current situation; best to put it right out of your mind, of course.

The question is, are those "nationalists" as convinced of the lack of bearing.  Glibness aside, this could really get badly ugly. Reprehensible assholes on all sides, I'm afraid.

Now the story is that the protests are run by the Israelis.
