Eric Holder Hospitalized After "Feeling Faint, Short Of Breath"
Is the groundwork for the "transitioning out" of the US Attorney General being laid? From Reuters:
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was taken to a Washington, D.C., hospital as a precaution on Thursday after he felt faint and was short of breath during a morning meeting with his staff, his office said in a statement.
"He is currently resting comfortably and in good condition. He is alert and conversing with his doctors," according to the statement.
More from The Hill:
"The Attorney General began experiencing symptoms including faintness and shortness of breath," Justice Department spokesman Brian Fallon said in a statement. "As a precaution, the attorney general was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center to undergo further evaluation."
NBC News's Pete Williams reported that the attorney general also experienced chest pains.
Fallon said Holder was alert and conversing with his doctors, and the Justice Department promised more information on the attorney general's condition when it becomes available.
"He is alert and conversing with his doctors," Fallon said.
Holder, 63, has been the source of retirement speculation since a report in The New Yorker earlier this month suggested he might step down this year. But Fallon told The Hill earlier this month that Holder simply meant he had a lot of work left that he hoped to accomplish in the coming year.
“The most the attorney general has said is that he still has a lot he wants to accomplish on issues like criminal justice reform, voting rights and LGBT equality. He did not speak about his plans any further than that,” Fallon said.

Holder's not going anywhere before the 2014 elections. He has to thwart attempts to clean up the voting rolls, and has to protect Democratic front-groups that harass and intimidate voters (see: Black Panthers) or engage in voter fraud (see: Battleground Texas). He also won't willingly give up the power of his office unless the Republicans take back the Senate, in which case impeachment is on the table.

As ZH suggests, the narrative is being set. Holder will be in the news increasingly for "health problems."
-If the 2014 Senate elections result in a Republican landslide, especially a McRINO-proof majority, Holder will need to exit quickly...before the new Senate takes office in January 2015. He will resign sometime between the elections and then.
-If the Republicans don't take back the Senate (again, with a McRINO-proof majority), he will make a "miraculous recovery," just like Hillary did after her "head injury." (HA!)
Further, if Holder resigns Obama will NOT nominate a partisan replacement that he actually expects to get confirmed by the new Republican Senate. Instead, Holder's deputy (whoever that is) will assume control and will remain in that position until Obama leaves office in January 2017. As a current deputy, whoever this person is, they are almost guaranteed to be as bad as Holder. This will be followed by a few months of "the benefit of the doubt" until this person confirms that they are an asshat.
I don't see any scenario in which a McCain-proof majority is elected. It will be difficult enough just to switch from blue team to red team in nominal terms. There are not that many Lee-Cruz-Paul types. Usually either McCain/McDonnell establishment clones or utter idiots like Todd Akin snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
However, even with a weak red team Senate, I think your scenario of just letting Holder's minion run things is correct. Why go through a controversial hearing where embarrassing questions might be asked? By this time, Holder has sabotaged the Department of Justice in deep ways and filled the place with marxists (who also enjoy the monetary rewards of working with banksters).
Giving him a health condition plays the victim card. Whereas he is a particularly treasonous perpetrator. This was a great republic and can be again, but only via a full public reckoning of the crimes against it.
