Ukraine Acting President Says Russia Has Invaded Ukraine, As 2000 Russian Troops, Military Jets Arrive

  • UKRAINE LEADER SAYS RUSSIA STARTS AGGRESSION AGAINST COUNTRY
  • UKRAINE SAYS RUSSIA INVADED UKRAINE UNDER GUISE OF EXERCISE
  • UKRAINE LEADER SAYS RUSSIA TRYING TO PROVOKE CONFLICT
  • UKRAINE LEADER SAYS RUSSIA SEEKING TO ANNEX CRIMEA
  • UKRAINE'S TURCHYNOV SAYS WILL DEFEND ITS INDEPENDENCE
  • UKRAINE ACTING PRESIDENT ACCUSES RUSSIA OF WORKING ON A SCENARIO LIKE BEFORE WAR WITH GEORGIA

From AFP:

Russia has sent "several hundred" troops into Ukraine's Crimea region, US defense officials said Friday, after Kiev called on Moscow to withdraw its forces from the peninsula.

"It looks like they’ve moved several hundred troops there (into Crimea)," a senior defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

The comments marked the first confirmation from President Barack Obama's administration that Russia had launched an incursion into Crimea.

The Russians had not given the US government advance notice of the action or explained its intentions since the operation was launched, officials said.

But Pentagon officials stressed Washington was focused on diplomacy, and there was no serious consideration being given to any US military action.

"It is now in the realm of diplomacy," said a second defense official, who asked not to be named.

Officials also said they were not aware of any request from Ukraine for military assistance.

More from Interpretermag.com:

“Under the guise of military exercises, Russia has brought troops into the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. And not only have they seized the parliament of the Crimea, the Council of Ministers of the Crimea, they are trying to take civilian buildings under control, communications, and trying to block places where Ukrainian soldiers are based,” he said in an appeal to the nation.

“They are provoking us to military conflict. According to information from our intelligence, they are working out scenarios that are completely analogous to Abkhazia, when after provoking a conflict, they began annexation of territory,” the acting president emphasized.

At the same time, Ukraine Pravda is reporting that Russian military planes are now landing in the Crimea.

Russian airplanes are landing in Crimea from the direction of Russia, and a column of APCs is heading from the east toward Simferopol.

There are reports of at least 5 large IL-76 planes landing in the district of the military airfield in the town of Gvardeyskoye.

Various sources are reporting that a column of 10 Russian APCs is heading from Sevastopol toward Simfereopol.

Interfax Ukraine reports that all air traffic is halted at the Belbek Airport in Sevastopol due to the seizure of the landing strip by unknown persons.

“There are about 400 people now in the Belbek airport. They have occpuied the landing strip and any movement of planes is stopped,” said a source.

And another video of the Russian APCs: considering the number of journalists standing by, it is as if they are on parade:

Finally. AFP reports:

  • 2,000 RUSSIAN SOLDIERS LAND IN CRIMEA IN ARMED INVASION, KIEV OFFICIAL SAYS -- AFP

And more airplanes:

Some are using makeshift barricades and checkpoints to defend themselves: via Kyiv Post:

Is it starting?

There's no response, whatsoever, from US or EU. Ukraine is pocket change. Russia wants the money for their energy exports, EU needs the energy.

So Russia secures the pipelines. Because nanny state Europe can't go to 'war' with upcoming election, status quo support comes from Russia.

Ukraine is just another Fema camp, and the inmates have to polish the pipes. Bitchez.

Maybe CW3. Cold war 3. A real ww3 wipes out the 0,1% also. There's enough power to destroy the whole planet.

Like the flow of liquidity they have to maintain, it's also, or maybe only, the flow of energy. When that stops, it's game over.

Agreed. This is no game. NATO has pushed Russia to the edge from which they will not back down. This makes real war very possible. And please note this people, the government in Kiev was not elected by anyone. No vote, yet they command the whole Ukraine to obey them?? How does that work? The Crimea has a right to self defense from an illegal government in Kiev. All they need do is ask for Russian military aid. Were I Putin, I would send in 250,000 troops to Crimea and be done with it.

PAVEL KHODORKOVSKY, president

Pavel Khodorkovsky is the president of the Institute of Modern Russia, an organization he founded to continue the work his father Mikhail Khodorkovsky began through the Open Russia Foundation. The Institute of Modern Russia seeks to promote the development of civil society in Russia by reinforcing the rule of law and strengthening relationships between Russia and other countries. Since his father’s arrest in 2003, Khodorkovsky has been unable to return to Russia for fear of political persecution and actions against him aimed at pressuring his father to abandon his legal battle. Khodorkovsky holds a business administration degree from Babson College.

Russia has not sent troops into Ukraine, outside of the naval base.  If you have evidence to the contrary, by all means, I'd be happy to read all about it.

But if you are taking the the word of an organization led by Khodo's seed, you're out of your damn mind.

You seem to be a little too quick to believe outfits that are absolutely propaganda outfits.  By the way, rt.com is propaganda too, but it's a refreshing change from the coordinated efforts at manipulating the facts we see in the corporate media.

Wherever there is war, or the threat of war, the propaganda ratchets up signficiantly.  I'm not in a position to know, but I think that while NATO's left hand is apparently at work in Ukraine, it's right hand will be engaged in some fuckery elsewhere.  Neither Ivan nor NATO want to go hot over Crimea.

But bear in mind, it is the US/Israel/NATO {and S.A.} that have been the absolute Harvard of terror group sponsorship in the past 20 years.  The western press, the major press, is largely controlled by a relatively small number of corporations {and/or government}.

I'm not saying only one side is lying to you.  I'm saying everyone is lying to you.  But the US/NATO side has much more blood on its hands.

j/m/o - take it or leave it as you please, dude.

If you are saying that politicians and the leftist media lie, I agree a 100% and hope your suspicions are correct on where Putin is going. I suggest he will split the country far from the naval base simply because he can. We have weak leadership and they are the joke of the world and do not even realize it.

Putin is laughing and will take a big portion of the Ukraine to 'secure his naval base' or some such nonsense, So I will take some and leave some - dude.

William J. Casey, the former Director of Central Intelligence, personally arranged for Saudi Arabia to sponsor a car bomb attack against a Lebanese Shiite religious leader believed to be involved in terrorism, according to a new book.

The author of the book, Bob Woodward, an assistant managing editor of The Washington Post, writes that the 1985 operation - which failed to kill the Shiite leader but left 62 others dead -was one of three Saudi-sponsored operations arranged by Mr. Casey that circumvented normal C.I.A. procedures.

According to The Guardian, “In a country where anti-semitism is still rife and openly expressed, nationalist rabble-rousers have made much of the fact that of the seven oligarchs who controlled 50% of Russia’s economy during the 1990s, six were Jewish: Berezovsky, Vladimir Guzinsky, Alexander Smolensky, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Mikhail Friedman and Vitaly Malkin. That fact is incontestable ..”

These oligarchs didn’t get their money from inventing companies like Facebook, or from building retail empires like Walmart. They got their money from shady and corrupt deals during the privatization of Russian government business holdings in the 90?s. The oligarchs bought businesses worth billions of dollars for fractions of pennies on the dollar. Prior to business privatization, the black market (illegal counter fitting, prostitution, sex-slavery, smuggling, and extortion rackets) was the primary means to wealth accumulation. Jewish Russians controlled the Russian mafia, which controlled the black market, and therefore they were the only Russians who could afford to bribe the bureaucrats and buy these businesses. Jewish Russians also had the ability to tap into pools of investment dollars from Israel and America, which other Russians did not have access to. So in a nation with a Jewish population that comprised less than 2% of the total population, Jewish Russians were able to control more than 50% of the total economy (excluding their control of the black market).

When justice finally came calling, many of these wealthy oligarchs took their stolen fortunes and fled to Western countries such as Britain, Spain, and Israel, which were willing to disregard international law and harbor criminals who fraudulently acquired their wealth. These facts have contributed greatly to the prevalence of anti-Semitism in Russia, and the Western nations which have allowed these criminals to steal Russia’s wealth, have also given credence  to conspiracy theories about global Jewish power. The following is a list of the Russian oligarchs’ careers and a summary of their ability to escape justice through international connections.

...

Mikhail Khodorkovsky- Bought Yukos from the government for 350 million. Two years later it was valued at $9 billion. Khodorkovsky was later imprisoned for tax evasion and fraud.

And we know who runs and follows the Chicago model of economics and who the main neoliberal economists are. They fucked the Russian people badly. I know, I was in Russia several times in the 1990's. I saw people live like animals when they were thrown out of their jobs by American economists, and all wealth went to 6 Jews and 1 non Jew. it was discussed by military specialists years ago

in 21st century it is not about invasion. It is about first nuclear strike superiority meaning that when you stike first the opposite side can not respond with deadly nuclear retaliation

USA can launch first nuclear strike on Russia from Pacific Ocean and then intercept russian response in early launch stage by using anti-ICBM shield located in eastern europe including Ukraine and Crimea

That's total crap.

The US's ABM system consists of 26 interceptors at one site in Alaska.  Anyone that knows anything about military affairs knows that they are totally useless against Russia's ICBM force.  The Russians have hundreds of deployed ICBM's with hundreds, if not thousands of warheads (plus decoys) that would quickly overwhelm the ABM system.  The ABM system was built to defend against the crazy Kim's, not the Russians.

Even if we (the US) did a bolt from the blue attack and slant fired SLBM's from the Arctic and managed to crater every silo based Russian ICBM, the Russians still have several hundred fully mobile SS-25's.

Russian troops have moved into Crimea in what Moscow is calling a mission to “protect Black Sea Fleet’s positions” but which the Ukrainian government has denounced as an “armed intervention.”

The Russian foreign ministry said Friday that it had informed the Ukrainian government that armoured units from the Black Sea Fleet base near Sevastopol had entered Crimea in order to protect fleet positions.

Later reports appeared of Belbek Airport near Sevastopol being seized by a group of unidentified armed people.

The Russian Black Sea Fleet denied allegations that the Russian military were involved in any storming operations.

"No units of the Black Sea Fleet were deployed in the area of Belbek [Airport], nor did they take any part in seizing it," a statement from the fleet's press service reads.

Crimean PM Sergey Aksyonov says he has situation at both the Simferopol and Sevastopol airports under control.

Well, to be fair, "No units of the Black Sea Fleet were deployed in the area of Belbek [Airport], nor did they take any part in seizing it," is an awfully specific statement, when you think of it.  I would imagine there are elements of the Russian military who do not fit the criteria of "units of the Black Sea Fleet."

I'm not seeing much confirmation anywhere that indicates that the Russian military is doing anything other than securing their existing holdings, however.  We shall see, won't we.

No to starting WWIII over some sill Grand Chessboard.  No one in the West is willing to charge into the Valley of Death Pt 2.  Hat tip to Lord Tennyson. The Charge of the Light Brigade

Half a league, half a league,
  Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death,
  Rode the six hundred.
'Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns' he said:
Into the valley of Death
  Rode the six hundred.

'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldiers knew
  Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
  Rode the six hundred.

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
  Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
  Rode the six hundred.

Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turned in air
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army while
  All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre-stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
  Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
  Left of six hundred.

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
  All the world wonder'd.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Light Brigade,
  Noble six hundred!

It gets exciting when all the stories start flying around, doesn't it.  The Internet finally allows all of us civilians to understand what's meant by the expression, "The Fog of War."

If Russia is doing anything other than reinforcing the security of its leased military holdings, I haven't seen it yet.  No doubt, the newly installed leaders in Kiev don't like it.  If Russia does cross into offensive moves, it'll be a completely different situation and I'll be quite surprised and admit I was wrong.  I still think, though, that Putin will defend Russian interests and let the victors in Ukraine sort themselves out.  Then he'll decide how to deal with that situation.  Anybody who expected him to leave Russian interests unprotected hasn't been paying attention for a long time.

Interpreter mag is Global Bankster Empire horseshit. Now I'm quite sure of that. Russian officials have denied that Russian troops are deployed at the airports, and Crimeans sources claim they are "self defense forces" i.e. basically Ukrainians with cool looking uniforms there to frustrate any potential effort by Kiev or NATO to send troops and especially material there.

Of course, it's guaranteed these Ukrainians are in contact with Ivan.  Can't blame 'em.  Not given the forces arrayed against them.

While it is a facile overstatement to claim that all wars are banker ones, this one sure as shit is.  War is ever the fruit of private, central, fiat banking.

here's a few questions bumping around in my head...

if the order is given by the new government in Kiev to expel the Russians by force will the military comply? for that matter who is in control of the armed forces as of now? what kind of divisions will have to be overcome, how many troops and officers would simply refuse to fight against their Russian counterparts, would there be defections, revolts and mutinies from within the ranks?

even if the military was unified behind Kiev would they risk escalating the conflict to a full scale war against Russia of which they would have no hope of winning? at least not without direct military support from NATO of which there is no indication of that, at least not as of yet.

and if NATO pledged such support well...

given that Moscow has clearly determined that Crimea will not fall to this neo nazi, fascist, western coup installed government for obvious reasons, might that put them in a position where a large scale first strike against NATO forces becomes a necessity? and once that horse get out of the barn, who else dog piles on and on who's side?

would it not be best for all interested parties if Crimea quietly, peacefully went back to mother Russia?

if the order is given by the new government in Kiev to expel the Russians by force will the military comply?

It won't be given. Russia is protecting its military assets in Crimea. It can always use this justification. Kiev would set themselves up for real invasion if they attacked.

even if the military was unified behind Kiev would they risk escalating the conflict to a full scale war against Russia of which they would have no hope of winning?

Of course not. Eastern Europe knows that the west will not send military forces to its aid. In reality, a Russian invasion would be a major propaganda victory for the west. It would "expose" Russia as the tyrant hellbent on regional hegemony that it's often portrayed as.

given that Moscow has clearly determined that Crimea will not fall to this neo nazi, fascist, western coup installed government for obvious reasons, might that put them in a position where a large scale first strike against NATO forces becomes a necessity?

Of course not. Russia is, after all, just protecting its assets. The threat of using the "necessary" force to do that is more than enough to make sure Kiev is willing to talk, not act.

would it not be best for all interested parties if Crimea quietly, peacefully went back to mother Russia?

Maybe, maybe not. We will see.

NOT ASSETS.

When you LEASE space for a BASE, YOU DO NOT OWN IT.

You are RENTING.

If the landlord decides to not renew (Philippines) you do not invade, you leave and go elsewhere...such as Sochi.

Where you guys went to school is beyond me.

In your fantasy world if your landlord doesn't renew your lease, you get to do a home invasion of the landlord.

Those bases ARE NOT RUSSIAN ASSETS THEY ARE UKRAINIAN, RENTED BY RUSSIA.

The "acting" president of the Ukraine is about to find out that Mr. Putin is the puppetmaster in the Ukraine and not the EU bankers.  Those who would defy Mr. Putin's position in this situation need to realize that hot lead cannot be stopped by paper money.  Just because the US is use to politicians that have been bought off like the whores they are, not everyone is bought.  Some are go-getters.  They don't accept handouts, they go and take them.

Russia has never put up with this nonsense in their backyard.  Don't expect they will this time either.  Big eared Obozo will grand stand and then go sit down and STFU.  He's too worried about the plight of illegals, gay boys, and his golf game to ever man up on a real issue.  As long as the US can buy people off or stab them in the back, its a go.  When they have to stand toe to toe with someone who can kick their ass.....they'll be glad to negotiate.  Breaks the heart but we have been that way since the 50's.

You may not agree with Putin and the Russians but you have to admire their take-no-shit attitude when it comes to their lines that will not be crossed.  It gives them something we lost long ago.........respect.
