Ukraine's Acting President Puts All Armed Forces On Full Combat Alert

Tyler Durden's picture

In a stunning 24 hours, it now appears that Russia and the Ukraine are one formal announcement away from a state of war. From moments ago, as reported by Bloomberg:

  • UKRAINE ACTING PRESIDENT PUTS ALL FORCES ON FULL COMBAT ALERT

And this, as reported by the NYT, virtually assures the escalation to a hot war, as some provocation, somewhere will certainly take place: "a Ukrainian military official in Crimea said Ukrainian soldiers had been told to “open fire” if they came under attack by Russia troops or others."

From Reuters:

Ukraine put its armed forces on full combat alert on Saturday and warned Russia that any military intervention in the country would lead to war.

After a more than three-hour meeting with security and defence chiefs, Acting President Oleksander Turchinov said there was no justification for what he called Russian aggression against his country.

Standing beside Turchinov, Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk said he had urged Russia to return its troops to base in the Crimea region during a phone call with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and called for talks.

"Military intervention would be the beginning of war and the end of any relations between Ukraine and Russia," Yatseniuk told reporters.

Finally, this:

  • Ukraine protects all Ukrainians, acting President Oleksandr Turchynov says in Kiev briefing.
  • Ukraine Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk: “diverting funds for military”
  • Turchynov: untrue that Russians are under threat
  • Turchynov: no reason for Putin request
  • Turchynov calls for national unity
  • Yatsenyuk says to take all measures to ensure peace
  • Yatsenyuk: no reason for Russia to intervene in Ukraine

Too late.

How about the collapse of the nuclear waste containers at WIPP in New Mexico and the plutonium that's being expelled to atmosphere because the filters/seals collapsed, being blown all over the Eastern US? And not a damn thing to be done about it. It's too dangerous to get close to, and we don't have robots designed to do any repair.

As more and more containers all start to burst, and fission begins . . .

The most highly lethal nuclear waste known to man is down there, shipped in from all over the world. Forget those stories of old overalls and rags.

US media is saying "all is contained and there was no real release." How much should I believe the US Government I wonder. Let's face facts, our nation, once a great nation in many ways, is now a fucking banker dictatorship and military industrial dictatorship. Our media are professional liars and nothing more. I think more people are aware of this after the giant spying scandles released by Snowden, we now know, our government cosiders us all enemies, like in the old communist USSR. They spied on all too.

The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews

Jewish Owned Slave Ships

"The following is a partial listing of ships that are recorded as having Jewish owners and are known to have transported slaves. This list, it must be emphasized, is indeed a partial list" (p. 138).

The list is too long to include here.

Jews and the Rape of Black Women

"Jews engaged in the widespread practice of the sexual exploitation of dependent [female] slaves. Such was the practice of jews since the Middle Ages - a practice which required religious legislation to abate. Slave women were employed primarily for domestic and agricultural service in the households of the jewish upper classes" (p. 141).

What is with the Tylers and many others insisting in calling this country "The Ukraine"?  There is no "THE" in this country's name. It is Ukraine, plain and simple.  I am even seeing it in headlines.  We don't have "The Canada" or "The Russia"....  I see the same with "The Crimea".   What gives? Anyone know where this comes from?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Name_of_Ukraine "Ukraine" versus "the Ukraine"  In English, the definite article is used with geographical identifiers primarily in one of four situations: 1. If the name is plural ('the Philippines', 'the Netherlands') 2. If a common noun is included ('the United States', 'the Central African Republic') 3. If the region in question is a sub-region of another ('the Sudetenland', 'the Saar').[36] 4. If the country is essentially synonymous with a marked geographical feature ('the Republic of The Gambia [River]', 'The Ivory Coast'). Prior to its 1991 independence, the technical name of Ukraine as a constituent part of the Soviet Union was the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, and thus by reasons likely stemming from 2 and 3 above was often referred to in English as the Ukraine. As none of the four conditions now hold (and conditions 1 and 4 never applied), the use of the definite article is now obsolete. Since the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine the English-speaking world has largely stopped using the article.[37][38][39][40] Since November 1991, several American journalists started to refer to Ukraine as Ukraineinstead of the Ukraine.[39] The Associated Press dropped the article 'the' on 3 December 1991.[39] This approach has become established in journalism and diplomacy since (other examples are the style guides of The Guardian[41] and The Times[42]). In 1993 the Ukrainian government requested that the article be dropped.[43]

However, explanations of the use of the definite article that point to "the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic" as the starting point are belied by its lack of use for other former Soviet republics and the many uses of "the Ukraine" in publications well before the founding of the Soviet Union; a short list of examples includes the title "Travels Through Holland, Flanders, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Lapland, Russia, The Ukraine, and Poland" (1772),[44] numerous uses of "the Ukraine" in "The Modern Part of an Universal History" (1762),[45] "The History of the Life and Reign of the Empress Catharine" (1744),[46] "A Collection of Voyages and Travels" (1732),[47] "Ld Whitworth's Account of Russia as it stood in 1710" (1758),[48] etc.

The use of the definite article is standard in some other languages such as French (l'Ukraine) or German (die Ukraine), but this is not a marked feature, since the article in French is required for all countries, and in German, for all non-neuter countries.

Oh sure - just Google the answer, jeez you're lazy...

OK so "The Crimea" is correct because it is a geographical region and referring to a penisula  and "The Ukraine" is correct because the civil war to make the country "plural" has been overdue since the fall of the USSR. SO calling it Ukraine is just a bad case of political correctness and Putin is going to fix the confusion for all the poor journalists. Got it.

A CIA guy was talking with another person and he said "this other guy asked my why I keep referring to the CIA as just CIA, and not THE CIA"? He replied, "do you refer to God as THE God"?

I'm sure there's a meaning in there somewhere. I have no idea what it is.

I understand that Ukraine as a word means "borderlands".

It is most certainly correct to use the article with "The Borderlands".

And since The-Ukraine has always been The-Borderlands between Poland and Russia, use of the article is correct.

After the war, after the country is splintered, the point will be moot anyway...

because it leads to the concentration of wealth in the hands of the few.

But even progressive tax system is not enough to revert concentration of wealth.

We need to redesign not just taxation system but the whole economic relations system (ownership rights, inheritance etc etc) if we are serious about creating stable societies.

The time has come to change capitalism with something new. Just imagine a handful of people controling all the resources of the planet and automating all their factories 100% so no human labour is needed any more. Just re-install the rule of law that prevents different justice for the elites versus the masses. Justice is supposed to be blind, and when it is, it works. What we have is a completely corrupted justice system by the elites, for the elites. They do not want a capitalistic society. They want the New Feudal World Order. Elites and Serfs is their plan, and it only happens after the rule of law is destroyed.

Either Yulia and Oleksandr take the CFR/IMF money and give up their nukes for US and NATO protection, or everything west of the Dnieper goes to Russia and those two characters retire to London, or worse.

Pretty intense if you ask me.

Russians do not fuck around on their "home" turf.

This is not some bush war with some rag-headed tribal fuck.

Russia will use all their marbles.

Russia and China will stop/delay all UN activity to allow Russia to build any military frontier they choose.

NATO will roll tanks with an invitation.  My question is what is the US flying overhead for the last 2 weeks?  What has been pre-deployed in Romania and Bulgaria?

To save Ukrainian unity and propose an OLIGARCH acceptable to both Putin and West; she fits the job as she is Orange revolution and Putin's pet past Gazprom filly horse : One Ukraine compatible.

Once Putin has rubbed Obammy and EU noses in the dirt of these Russian moves in the East and Crimea he will propose HER as the compromise solution to be POTUS of UNITED UKRAINE and surrogate to Putin's Russia as ex queen of Gazprom gas!

As well as being "reformist orange".

The first is always sacrificed, taking the blame for inevitably continuing trouble as things settle down. NEWSFLASH - NSA has been hacked. Here is an unconfirmed conversation that took place a few minutes ago.

President Buttercup: You lezzie bitch, you told me everything was going according to plan in Urkraine.

Nuland: We have some bad news and some good news.

Buttercup: What's the bad news?

Nuland: That $5-billion you sent to Urkraine didn't buy as many neo-Nazi's as we thought. We need a few billion more. Also, we might be at war with Russia soon. That bastard Putin can't take a joke.

Buttercup: And the good news?

Nuland: Pussy Riot has agreed to perform at your next birthday party.

Ukrainian army are to fight for an unelected administration against Russia? I'm no expert on the Ukrainian military, but I don't see them all turing out for that assignment.

As I understand it, the "new" Ukrainian Govt has said that it can have nuclear weapons within six months ... and then there will be a different story.

Kinda sounds like a threat.

Given that, it seems that Russia has no option but to neutralise the Ukraine, whilst it can.

I reckon they're all talk. The current government has zero power, hell it can't even rely on the loyalty of its own military, plus the nation is out of cash, the currency is being killed and default is inevitable (meaning another government overthrow is inevitable). They can't build nukes and they can't buy them.

Ukraine was going into default before this blew up, the international neolibs offered a poisoned loan, Russia offered a fairer deal, but then what little bargaining power Ukraine had its leadership proceeded to piss it away due to a meat-headed lack of political finesse.

The most sensible thing to do now is for Russia to turn the pipeline screws, occupy the Crimea, clearly project force then sit back and let all the other bumbling retards shoot themselves repeatedly in the foot until fence-sitting Ukrainians jump to the Russian side as the best option, taking the original deal with some new added string as punishment. They get Yulia Tymoshenko running a weak government, it sides with Russia, Russian troops go home, the neolibs fly into a rage at having been outplayed by Putin again and start trying to stir up more trouble wherever Russia has an interest.

"Ukraine's Acting President Puts All Armed Forces On Full Combat Alert"???

1)

First, this self-nominated usurper is NOT Ukraine's President – he is simply a US marionette, brought to power by some US-trained Nazi and fascist mobs from the West of Ukraine, who have ceased power in Kiev

2)

Second, which Armed Forces? In the Eastern and Southern Regions Armed Forces will not even listen to that Yankee’s little puppet in Kiev, regardless of what he (and the Yankee’s EUrocratic whores) call him.  Oh, and here is an example of this – and this is just the beginning”:

3)

Ukrainian Navy flagship takes Russia’s side (http://rt.com/news/ukraine-navy-flaghsip-protest-389/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome)

Here is a forecast of events:

1)

Russian forces enter the Crimean peninsula to protect the population against the Yankee sponsored fascists

2)

Other Eastern and Southern Regions rise against the Western Ukrainian junta before the end of March (this is already happening today in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Odessa) – 3-4 more Regions to follow…

3)

On March 30 the Crimean Referendum  on Independence takes place – and 75% of the population votes for Independence

4)

Other Eastern and Southern Regions announce their own Referenda for April and May – same results (give or take 65-75% is likely)

5)

Then the FORK:

If as a result of these events, Kiev’s gangs and their Washington DC puppet-masters come to grips with reality (not a sure thing) – they try to negotiate with the Regions and Russia a full federalization of Ukraine, or

If they are dumb enough to continue underestimating the shit they got themselves into, then the Regions ask Russia for protection and/or re-unification…

End of Story…

Just as I predicted at the outset of the fall of the pro-Putin regime in Kiev, the Russians have moved to fortify the Crimea.

Next come the tanks and Hinds to roll up everything east of Dnieper River. I'd be completely unsurprised to see a handful of tank divisions cross the river and drive towards Kiev.

If National Command Authority (read: Obama) had any balls, he'd start inserting American special forces and attack helicopters into western Ukraine to coordinate with the Ukrainian army and air force. This would give the Ukrainians a force multiplier, and enable them to make it a bloody affair for the Russians to press into Ukraine proper. It would be about all America and NATO could do (UK might be able to throw in some SAS troopers into the mix. Some German SpecOps types, too).

None of this would be enough the stop Russia cold. Ukraine and NATO would be fighting a slow rolling retreat the whole time. But if they made the price in blood high enough, a kind of new Afghanistan for the Russian Army, maybe the Russian people would rise up and pressure Putin to bring a stop to this madness.

In the end he'll get the Crimea, which is all he really wants for Russia's strategic self interest. Pressing any further into Ukraine simply makes naked his ambition to recreate something akin to the Soviet Union.

No offense, but I think you're expressing too much of a Cold War mentality (seemingly the US position). Putin has evolved from there to be more crafty. I'm more inclined to think that Russian leadership is happy to preserve a sovereign Ukraine, just that the leadership needs a little "education" to remember what's best for them.

Ham-fisted military oppression wouldn't work in Russia's favor. They're smarter than that. They'll "occupy" on request, as saviours, and allow the more western reaches to fall apart until the people beg for the stability of the east. NATO involvement would only exacerbate this as they don't have the cultural depth to promote a stable political environment: they've already lost.

Mission accomplished, a government and trading partner with a Russian lean, everyone goes home, the energy flows, and the Ukrainians get on with the farming to supply Russian and Chinese markets.

Besides, what's the greater threat, Russian imperialism or EU imperialism? Last I checked, the eurozone was rapidly spiralling down into the abyss, sacrificing the living standards of its people at the altar of corporate neoliberalism, while Russians are actually on the up.

You want to stop the Russian Army?  Pick up a rifle and head over there, but leave everybody else here out of it.  This is none of our business, and if we make it our business, you might very well see ICBMs and SLBMs flying.  Fuck. That. Shit.

NATO is a sham. Think EU - could any of those constipated twats in Brussels manage to decide to take a dump in less than a year? Think US - our last great military success was beating the shit out of - wait for it - Grenada.

So, what is NATO? It's OTAN spelled backwards and not much else.
