Ukraine's Military Mobilizes, Prepares For Combat: Trucks, APCs, SAMs, Howitzers, Tanks Rolling Out
Did somebody say de-escalation?
Earlier today, photos were distributed showing the latest military convoy reinforcements heading into the Crimea, accompanies by a Police car demonstrating Moscow license plate numbers, most likely providing further support to the pro-Russian forces in the peninsula.
Supposedly the trucks are carrying troops to reinforces the members of the new Crimean army, pictured below:
While at the same time along the makeshift border between Crimea and the mainland, the Pro-Russian forces are putting down minefields.
However, the Ukrainians, having already been mobilized for over a week, finally appear set to seize back the offensive:
The first clip below captured the 80th Airborne Regiment out of Lviv moving out, direction mainland, preparing to repel foreign attack.
The next video shows what are allegedly Buk SAM batteries deployed in the Donetsk region, a city in Eastern Ukraine which in the past week has swayed between Ukraine and Russian authority.
The clip below shows the 95th Airborne brigade also moving out of their barracks in Zhytomyr in western Ukraine, heading East, with an impressive deployment of trucks and APCs.

The life expectancy of any unfortunate soul in one of those T-64 tanks on a modern battlefield is about .74 seconds.

You won't be taking out those tanks by land but by some type of air attack.
Dug in you better have some really good precision guided munitions cuz just one of those tanks can stop your entire movement. "Then your vulnerable to a counter force thrust."
This is much the same problem the USA faced when it invaded Iraq actually...but two things "saved the day"...namely they went right for the capital first and also a huge sandstorm blew up which masked the entire invading Army. Once the US was on the gates of Baghdad Saddam Hussein's leadership didn't believe it...thought the attack was coming from Turkey...move all their defending forces to the North and the USA charged right into downtown Baghdad with almost no resistance.
The defending Armies which the Air Force had claimed to have knocked (but in fact were perfectly operational) suddenly got attacked from behind and were completely annihilated. The Iraqi military has never recovered actually.
Again..."this thing has to go off perfectly"...if any formalized invasion is delayed..or worse..."stopped in its tracks"...any counterstrike would put the "Crimean Independent Army" in a VERY bad position. They'd be completely cut off and surrounded.

It'll take a while to "settle down" in my view. Don't know anything about Crimea other than there are millions of dead buried there.

All the food and electricity comes from Ukraine so the lights will be getting shut off soon.

Superior tanks can be defeated by superior tactics and superior numbers.

Russia is going to chew up those T-64's the way the US chewed up all the T-72's on the Iraqi battlefield.
Ukraine's order of battle works to keep people away from them, NOT for offensive armored warfare.
We don't know that yet.
They have been an independent country for twenty years.
Obviously they haven't made too many enemies in the Crimea as they had to be dislodged by brute force.
Some are still in command of their forces and bases having "repelled the invaders" I might add.

It might be an attempt to head off the referendum on secession in Crimea. If the vote happens, and favors secession by a wide margin, the Ukraine government will lose negotiating posture.
But if the tanks do roll, Gazprom will still turn out the lights. Either way, it's a huge mess.
I think you,re correct. It's a bad angle to judge, but those look like up-armoured T-64s. The reactive armour may save a few, but they won't last long against the newest Russian anti-tank missles. And they would have chances of slim to none taking out a T-80, much less a T-90 (which I doubt the Russians would even bother to send, unless they were already close by).
Also, they had better stop parking their convoys on one side of the road, crammed front to back like that. It would take one fully loaded American A-10 to take out every vehicle in that column. Or one, maybe two SU-25s.

Russia wanted a war to start in Ukraine. Snipers WERE killing Berkut and protesters alike, but not some fantasy 'Opposition Force' snipers. Putin was forcing engagement exactly like Russia did in Georgia: you need casualties on both sides to enrage everyone. The Russian snipers didn't care: Georgian police, Georgian protesters, Georgian soldiers. See the trend? They were all Georgian. Putin's snipers' orders? Take out a few Ukraine police, a few Ukraine DHS Stazi, a few Ukrainian Euromaidan protesters, and a cute, little blonde Ukrainian medic volunteer. They're just garbage Ukrainians to Putin - small price to pay to get things moving. The Estonian conversation was real and snipers were killing both sides; Yanukovych's doctor (where the rumor originated) speculated that it must have been opposition snipers even though the rounds were from Russain sniper rifles from government-held buildings.
Now it's the U.S. psychopath's turn. (Ukrainians don't get a turn at all in this game) The Ukrainian Army will start mixing it up with Russian soldiers/thugs/whatever. Russian will start beating on them. Then the U.S. will push the Full Retard button by deploying Russian cluster bombs, nerve agents or maybe a small tactical nuke. The false-flag Russian tactical nuke is important because both the U.S. and NATO will now claim the obligation to defend Ukraine. The Budapest agreement disarming Ukraine didn't promise to defend Ukraine, only to 'respect it's sovereignity'. The exception is in case of nuclear agression. In that case, the Budapest agreement is a sideshow trumped by all the various other US and NATO agreements. Cluster bombs and nerve agents will be used first. That may be enough. A reluctant American public may eventually require fresh, smoking, radiation-burned bodies of Ukrainian soldiers before being sucked in.

I don't think Ukraine ever asked to be in NATO, did they? They might have - I just don't ever recall hearing that. I could see them doing so eventually, but not in like the next week or two. It would seem as futile as if Georgia had asked to be in NATO after the Russians showed up. I don't think it works like that.
The U.S. government and NATO like to grease the skids with some kind of justification (no matter how far-fetched). Like you, I don't think it will end peacefully. It remains to be seen if NATO will make a move. I'm simply suggesting that *if* NATO is committed to jumping in the fray, they will be more than willing to manufacture a pretext for that action, i.e., false flag Russian atrocity.
