Building Explosion And Collapse Reported On Park Avenue In Harlem, People Trapped - Live Webcast
Moments ago a building in the Harlem part of New York appears to have i) exploded and ii) collapsed, with people trapped inside.
- EXPLOSION REPORTED ON 116TH AND PARK IN NYC
Emergency crews are reportedly on the scene of a possible building explosion in East Harlem.
Details are limited but the incident reportedly happened this morning in the area of East 116th Street and Park Avenue.
NY1 has a crew heading to the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
There are reports that people are trapped after part of the building collapsed. It is unclear what caused the explosion at this time, but Con Ed was requested on rush for a gas leak.

Authorities are responding to reports of an explosion and collapse in Manhattan.
FDNY said it was responding to 116th Street and Park Avenue. Smoke could be seen from midtown, a few miles away.
There was no immediate word about injuries.
Metro-North trains in the area were halted because of debris on tracks, and some passengers reported being ordered off their trains at 125th Street.

Top pic is from the Metro North Station at 125th and Park. There are a lot of Brownstones in that area. A lot of property has been bought up, fixed and gentrified right there due to closeness to the Park, Metro North and subways. Probably is a gas leak explosion from shoddy work. Hope the folks get out ok. I will never say it enough, I AM GLAD I AM OUT OF NYC. It was fun for 7 years, but there are too many people in a small space of real estate. DeBlasshole will effectively "Detroit" all that remains. I wish you New Yorkers luck. I really like you all a lot. New Yorkers are great. I just cannot live amongst tens of millions anymore.
edit: after viewing the live stream, that building has been totally leveled and whoever, God rest their souls, was inside is now dead as fuck.

Well as a person who has lived in 12 cities, they are generally nicer, more welcoming and have a sense of care for their fellow citizens. I once saw a group of them bust out a window to attempt to save a person who was having a heart attack in their car. i do not know if the person lived or die, but seeing three random folks break a window to get to a person for help was amazing. I had a lotta respect for them after that. Sandy also had a lot of humanitarian stories, you just only saw the bad. It was bad due to the numbers of folks in need, but generally, if the shit hits the fan, I would rather be with a New Yorker than any other big city folks. The Seattlites would surely let you die as they sauntered off stoned with "Beats by Dre" jamming. I like little cities the best so that's why i moved to a little city. Hope this helps.

I think it was likely a gas leak. When I visited NYC last month I had to travel across the Polanski skyway bridge. Looking up as crossing I could that literally tons of concrete had fallen from the crossbeams over the decades. That whole city is decaying and crumbling down in pieces. I can only imagine what it is like in the areas where there ain't no white folks.
