As we reported yesterday, Crimea is last week's story. Now it is all about east Ukraine. In that vein, moments ago John Kerry's latest stand up comedy routine hit the tape which contained, besides the usual laugh lines, this particular pearl:

Is that so? We provide this map showing the latest distribution of Russian military forces on the Ukraine borders so that readers can make up their own mind.
And here is another map compiled by Dmitry Tymchuk, a former Ukrainian military officer, who has established an organization, the Center of Military and Political Research on Kiev, to effectively collect and gather data about military-related facts.

I was curious about the red text on the image from the emails, particularly that near the two planes which each have a red X over them. The wikipedia page for Melitopol indicates that the airport is not used for passenger service and that it currently has IL-76 transport planes based there.
The ZH site doesn't support Cyrillic characters, but in standard western encoding the text by the two planes would be 'spalyty 2 IL-76'. GoogleNSA translated from Ukrainian, it means 'burn 2 IL-76'.

There are two other circles on the map followed by words in Ukrainian. The one on the left says "Blow up GAZ-66" and the one on the right, outside the runway/hangars says "Shoot-out".

Sorry to say you are wrong - for the Ukrainian people. But if the western side thinks that those are the all the resources that can be brought to bear...it´s wrong. There´s plenty more of where that came from that can be deployed in very short time. In fact there are railroads all the way to the border so it´s just to load up divisions and get going. But that´s not the point. I think that what happende here is that Vlad took a long hard look at the current leadership , the Trinity , Obama , Biden and Kerry and found it not to be really hard core. There's no doubt that Russia could occupy all of Ukraine, probably within two weeks, but Putin is a realist, and there's just no net benefit to Russia in militarily occupying the entire country. Ideally, from the Russian point of view, Crimea and the East re-unite with Mother Russia, and the Remaining Ukraine is left to stew in its own juices.

One of the things that Dr. Jim Willie said that could be a obscure and weird lynch pin would be for Finland to pull out of the euro. They talked about it. This USSA/Nuland/McCain/oligarch and EU madness in taking over the Ukraine probably has not made the Finns very happy. If the Finns pull out of the euro - a lot of things could unravel quickly.
