Where The Russian Troops Are - The Full "Pre-Takeover" Infographic

Tyler Durden's picture

As we reported yesterday, Crimea is last week's story. Now it is all about east Ukraine. In that vein, moments ago John Kerry's latest stand up comedy routine hit the tape which contained, besides the usual laugh lines, this particular pearl:

  • KERRY SAYS RUSSIA DOESN'T YET HAVE FORCES FOR UKRAINE TAKEOVER

Is that so? We provide this map showing the latest distribution of Russian military forces on the Ukraine borders so that readers can make up their own mind.

And here is another map compiled by Dmitry Tymchuk, a former Ukrainian military officer, who has established an organization, the Center of Military and Political Research on Kiev, to effectively collect and gather data about military-related facts.

Kerry concluded:

  • KERRY SAYS `CONTINGENCIES' IF RUSSIA MOVED INTO EAST UKRAINE

We'll know just what those are by Sunday night. The only question: will Referendum Sunday be the new Lehman Sunday...

Depends on what you mean by "first strike."  The US has been fomenting upheaval for some time now.  Russia has had enough and realizes that it's time to take a stand (and it has support to do so).  If anything one can make a better argument as this being a defensive move more than an offensive one.  Assertive defensive.

all fiat dollar + petrodollar + derivatives + deregulation + ZIRP + QE = return to trading blocks.

Local political thugs can't afford to kick-up at current rates. They have their own scams and patronage networks to fund. There can be only one "real" winner in the currency manipulation game, the dollar. The maintenance, risk, opportunity costs of western banking cartels are way too high.

The recent rash of political and paramilitary maneuvers(Egypt, Libya, Syria, Ukraine)are about controlling resources and markets and determining what goes to which block.

Paul Craig Roberts has an excellent track on it all.

http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2014/03/03/washingtons-arrogance-hubris-...

And I like this one:

http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2014/02/26/ukrainian-neo-nazis-declare-p...

There are a number of reasons why the situation is likely to develop in a very bad way. One is that most people are unable to deal with reality even when reality directly confronts them. When I provide the facts as they are known, here are some of the responses I receive: “You are a Putin agent;” “you hate Ukrainians;” “you are defending corruption;” “you must not know how Ukrainians suffered at the hands of Stalin.”

Of course, having done Russian studies in graduate school, having been a member of the US-USSR student exchange program in 1961, having traveled in Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, having published in scholarly journals of Slavic and Russian studies, having twice addressed the Soviet Academy of Sciences, having been invited to explain to the CIA why the Soviet economic collapse occurred despite the CIA’s predictions to the contrary, I wouldn’t know anything about how people suffered under communism. The willingness of readers to display to me their utter ignorance and stupidity is astonishing. There is a large number of people who think reality consists of their delusions.

Reality is simply too much for mentally and emotionally weak people who are capable of holding on to their delusions in the face of all evidence to the contrary

Thu, 03/13/2014 - 17:32 | 4545126 css1971
css1971's picture

Here's the thing.

Your brain interprets nerve impulses and uses them to produce a model of the world around it. The model includes everything you can experience and intuit about the world. So everyone has their own model of the world which describes how they think it works. Thing about models is they are not accurate, by definition they are simplifications, and huge simplifications at that. So they are all by definition wrong to a greater or lesser degree. Every single one of them.

This simply means that everyone. EVERYONE is deluded, more or less. One of the major difference between people being understanding how deluded you personally are, and doing something about minimsing your own personal delusions.

Mercenaries and their filthy rape houses - a sick perk!

http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/?p=2045

A large number of the abductions and rapes were committed and filmed by hired mercenaries of the Pentagon and many of these photographs and videos wound up in for-pay pornographic websites based in the United States. One of these websites has shut down ever since La Voz de Aztlan made this information public. The website called “Iraq Babes”, believed owned by Jewish pornographers, advertised it with the following banner: “Horny soldiers having extreme sex in war”! The website at http://www.iraqbabes.com/ has been shut down and presently only shows one web page with a stick drawing of a horse. The website showed photographs and videos of Iraqi women and girls being brutally raped. We hope the website has shut down permanently for it only reinforces the allegation that the USA is really “The Great Satan” Islam talks about.

Has anyone bought the ukrainebabes.com domain address yet? I'm sure some sick Zionist piece of filth in Hollywood owns the rights.

The map in this posting adds fuel to a theory I have which is the following:

ALL ROADS LEAD TO IRAN

Part of the plan to take out Iran's nuukalar program was stymied when the plan to first remove Syria as a regional stumbling block did not go as planned. Assad has remained entrenched. Then, Putin out manuevered NATO and the US putting the timetable in disarray.

The question to the Neocons now becomes, what to do next to get the march to Iran back on track again?

YOU GET RUSSIAS ARMED FORCES TIED UP IN A REGIONAL CONFLICT.

Thereby, leaving Syria without useful backing of Russia and exposed to a renewed overthrow push. (noises about just a move has been repleat in the news in the last few weeks.)

Russia's amassing of troops and armor on Ukraines borders may be exactly the plan entertained by Western 'theater tacticians' along with a planned and prerequsite 'incident' designed to foster an invasion of Ukraine by Putin's forces.

Once there, they may find themselves treated to an 'Afganistan effect' whereas the the bulk of their useful forces become bogged down in a guerrila-like war that grinds down their resources.

A scenario many in the Western power structures would like to see repeated, hence, putting a fast stop to Russia's resurgence.

Once done and Syria delt with, action against Iran may proceed without obstruction.

The plan may be going exactly as intended

BUT...

What Putin does next to sway the balance away from such a scenario may require exceptional measures and a high stakes confrontation putting the world solidly back into a very warm Cold War with all the attendant economic consequences.

Time will tell.

Maybe sooner rather than later.

Excellent post.  Rare for this website lately.  I agree the idiots who want to attack Iran may find a way to use this crisis as the springboard for the reasons you outlined.  But there are two points that need to be made.  First, Putin WILL be in a shit storm if he occupies Ukraine.  He'll have 27 countries in the EU plus the U.S. plus Japan, etc. all on his ass if he does it.  And there is a lot of pressure that can be put on Russia even if the Russian apologists on this website think otherwise.  Secondly, the American people are sick of war.  The chances of getting the Average Joe and Average Mary in the U.S. to support another (serious as hell) war in the Middle East are pretty slim.  But that doesn't mean the neocons won't try something because morality and intelligence are sorely lacking in a lot of them.

Of course I am.  The BRICS in a standoff with the U.S., the EU and the rest of their allies are going to suffer too.  And don't expect India to follow in lockstep with Russia and China.  They know which side their bread is buttered on.  If this becomes an economic standoff everyone is going to lose big time.  That's why I really don't think Putin is going to push things too far.  And China?  China will go along with Russia up to the point it starts to cause them some internal problems and then they will do whatever is in their own selfish best interests.  The Russians don't trust the Chinese any further than they can throw them if this situation started to cause everyone serious economic problems.  Crimea/Ukraine don't mean that much to China in the big picture.  It's still too soon for the Chinese to have a true one-on-one fight with the U.S.

No word here on whether these troops were't always posted to the Ukraine border.  Probably they were.  But it is ridiculous to think Putin would be inteerested in an occupation of eastern Ukraine.  Better to foment trouble using the native Russian population (especially after the EU/IMF policy starts biting by the end of this year, if not sooner), provoke repression by the new Ukrainian regime, and then just funnel logical support across the long, porous border.

Who gets stuck with the "Iraq insurgency" in that case, all you NATO loving smarty pants out there?  You keep underestimating Putin.  You don't need to like the guy - I don't - to understand that.

so now Kerry is saying that if the referendum takes place the US and western Europe are ready to escalate their response...

ironic isn't it?

people going out to vote and determine their own future is the trigger event that will cause the peace loving, non interfering, protectors of global democracy and human rights to become even more aggressive and hostile to those trying to exercise their right to self determination.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/john-kerry-russia-has-until-monday-to-reve...

Secretary of State John Kerry warned of serious repercussions forRussia on Monday if last-ditch talks over the weekend to resolve the crisis in Ukraine failed to persuade Moscow to soften its stance.Kerry will travel to London for a Friday meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov ahead of a Sunday referendum vote in theCrimea region to secede from Ukraine and join the Russian Federation.U.S. and European officials argue that Moscow is orchestrating the referendum and waging an intimidation campaign with thousands of Russian troops controlling the region. If Russian-backed lawmakers in Crimea go through with the Sunday referendum, Kerry said the U.S. and its European allies will not recognize it as legitimate under international law.

The U.S. and Europe on Monday would then unite to impose sanctions on Russia, Kerry told aSenate Appropriations subcommittee Thursday during a hearing on the State Department'sbudget.

“There will be a response of some kind to the referendum itself,” Kerry said. “If there is no sign [from Russia] of any capacity to respond to this issue ... there will be a very serious series of steps on Monday.”

“Our hope is to have Russia join in respecting international law. ... There is no justification, no legality to this referendum that is taking place,” he said. “The hope is that reason will prevail but there is no guarantee of that.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican and a top critic of President Obama's foreign policy, asked what the administration would do if Russian forces advance farther into the eastern area of Ukraine, and the new government in Kiev asks the U.S. for weapons to fight the Russians.

Kerry responded carefully, saying “we have contingencies – we are talking through various options that may or may not be available.”

“Our hope is not to create hysteria or excessive concern about that at this point in time,” he said. “Our hope is to avoid that, but there's no telling that we can.”

U.S. authorities are closely monitoring the number of Russian troops in Crimea, as well as their movements, he said, noting that Moscow is allowed to have a total of 25,000 troops in Crimea.

He said that currently Russia does not have the assets positioned to “march in and take over all of Ukraine but that could change and we recognize that.”

“I've been impressed on how united our European allies are on this… to a person, to a country, they are very, very committed to make sure there is accountability,” he said.

Sen. Patrick Leahy, a Vermont Democrat who was chairing the hearing, asked how this showdown with Russia in Ukraine is impacting efforts to destroy Syria's chemical weapons stockpile.

When Obama threatened to make good on his red-line threat to Syrian leader Bashar Assad, Russia helped avert U.S. military strikes by offering to step in and negotiate arrangements to have Damascus destroy its chemical weapons.

Kerry said Russia had been helpful in pushing Syria on tighter deadlines for locating, moving and destroying its stockpile, but considering the crisis in Crimea, their cooperation going forward is an open question.

“Now there's a question mark about where that's going to go,” he said.

My history teacher got a first class plane trip and an exciting nigthtime drop to the hedgerows of Normandy and also told us about Stalingrad and Kursk.

Big difference between walking out your front door to war and having to transport EVERYTHING 3500 miles just to get there.

But that was along time ago when you were actually expected to 'know stuff' to pass a class and not be spoonfed and regurgitate lefty revisionist propaganda. Russia would have been late to the party without the millions of tons of material we sent thru lend/lease.

In WWI the French and Germans went toe to toe for years, look up Verdun. France bled itself white in WWI and Napoleanic wars, at one time they had the third largest population in the world and would have projected to aUS size population.

In contrast the 10,000 french canadian founder families exploded to 10 million in Canada and a couple million in the US in a couple hundred war free frontier living years. War is bad for your health both individually and nationally.

This morning I could 'nt access Zerohedge from my home computer at all so I just came to work but I could 'nt access Zerohedge here at work either not at all. Not using my ipad or smart phone, so I checked online a website that gave the status of Zerohedge as up and running fine for other people, it was just me that could'nt access it. So then I connected to an anomous proxy server and was able to access Zerohedge right away no problem ! Someone is blocking my access to this website. I live in the Vancouver b.c. Canada area and use Telus as my internet provider (cell/ipad phone too). Who could be blocking me ? Are there any other telus customers out there who are being prevented from accessing Zerohedge ? Where should I post to for help with this ? Thanks for any suggestions and sorry again for going off topic.

If one accepts the info chart that the Russians really really do have those pieces of hardware close to the border, it still does not mean they intend to annexe Ukraine. They might be there to move in to protect Russian-speaking Ukrainians from being assimilated by the West OR to simply let Washington and Brussels know that it will not allow the West (and NATO) to install itself in Ukraine which has a land border with Russia. Cold War re-run.

What would the USG do if Russia installed itself in Mexico, complete with full military??

The people to keep a close eye on are the criminals in Washington and Brussels. They are increasingly desperate for a distraction to hide the catastrophy that has become our Western economies. And during such a distraction, they'll be stealing YOUR money to bail themselves out.

Remember: we are being governed by a criminal cabal.

so in the world according to Kerry Russia has until monday to stop encouraging people to vote-

“There will be a response of some kind to the referendum itself,” Kerry said. “If there is no sign [from Russia] of any capacity to respond to this issue ... there will be a very serious series of steps on Monday.”

and when asked what would happen if Putin decides that the people of the eastern Ukraine deserved the same type of protection the people in Crimea are currently enjoying-

Kerry responded carefully, saying “we have contingencies – we are talking through various options that may or may not be available.”

hmm...various non specific possibilities that may or may not exist outside the realm of pure speculation.

now if that doesn't get Putin to pull up stakes and get the hell out of dodge pronto, nothing will.

if nothing else it has been entertaining watching Putin unleash his one man shock and awe show whilst the TOTUS and Kerry go through motions that bear a striking resemblances to two people drowning...

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.  It wasn't your fault that the Occupy movement was coopted by Sorros and the PTB gang.  You have to realise that 90% of the people in this country mean well, but 95% of that 90% haven't a clue about critical thinking.  It's not not their fault either.  They were fooled into thinking that Wall Street was the problem when they should have been setting camp up outside the NY FED.

They were programmed into the Matrix at an early age through "US Government is great and can do no wrong" schooling, flouride dumbed-down and lessened sperm count water, hybrid veggies, cardboard mixxed with burger (not to mention pink slime - yech!), psycho-babble ADD drugs (and any drug for profit for any problem), political fast talk, bought and paid for judges telling everyone how recording every keystroke, move, and conversation you make is Constitutional, etc, etc, etc.  The list never ends.

The best we freedom lovers can hope for now is total collapse of the economy and the following nuclear war.  That should thin down the PTB a lot.  Perhaps we can spark the fire of freedom in the remaining survivor's minds and have a force to fight for our freedom once again.

There is nothing left to do but to watch Russia move in.

The United States is too weak a player to do anything at the moment, decades of warfare have spread American forces and finances to the breaking point and beyond.

Europe is on its own.

There used to be a time when the United States Government would make a threat and people would care, that time is long-gone, they know the U.S. wont do anything, and can't do anything short of starting world war III.

It seems Russia has played the "just sit back and watch your enemy destroy itself" card and now its time to start cleaning house.

" the EU27 trade deficit with Russia rose from 52 bn in 2009 to 90 bn in 2012. The deficit in 2012 is primarily due to EU27 imports of energy from Russia (163bn), partially offset by EU27exports of manufactured goods (108bn).  In 2012, Russia was the EU27's third most important trading partner after the USA and China, accounting for 7% of EU27 exports and 12% of EU27 imports."

(The US has 1.4 M  and we sent over 150,000 troops to Iraq, think of how long it took us to prepare and move those troops....  and the Russian army does not have the capabilities that the USA has....  just saying!!!!)

NATO is currently conducting a "Military Exercise" in Poland.. total force of some 6,000 (on the Russian boarder and I am sure they want to show that they are not intimated and they have bigger dicks...).

So in response, Russia has announced:

"About 8,500 Russian troops are taking part in military exercises near the border with Ukraine involving artillery and multiple rocket launchers, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

A statement on the ministry's website confirmed that the exercises had begun at bases in the Southern Military District but did not say how long they would last."

And by the way just who is this dude Dmitry Tymchuk and just how creditable is his information?  I note that the translated source of this blog states..."The Kyiv Post has not independently verified his findings..."

Firstly, its more like 40K, as someone seems to have counted Belarus Troops (not happening).

Secondly, there is a vast difference between moving 150k Men by air and moving 150k men by ground. Infantry divisions will almost certainly have the means to move themselves by road; Ural trucks, BMPs, etc...

Russian Equipment is as good if not better in some regards. A lot of the (now updates) designs come from an era where reliability was a necessity.

Were did you get the 40k?  Cite your source please.

And while Russia may have "reliable" equipment, their operation budgets are beyond slim.  Moving those kinds of troops cost money, even by ground. Russia would be foolish to spend that kind of capital unless they had to.

They already have the Crimea (that is a done deal, despite all the breast beating), why would they want the rest of the Ukraine and all the baggage that comes with it?

I think the experience in Iraq is what makes the statement accurate.  Of course the question is whether the populace of Ukraine would be more resistant to Russia IF there was some sort of take over.

So...the western side runs off the elected leader and proclaims a new government.

"The West" says wow, that's OK!

The Russians in the East throw off the usurpers in the westr and want their own referendum...

And how is that B-A-D??? according to the puppets we have in office?

Fuck the lying two-faced scum.

I'm not fighting any Russians unless they invade Miami.

Well, ZHers, we have all figured it out.

To summarize:

The Banksters/PTB have Soros fund the various NGOs established as Fifth Columns in the Target Country; he probably has a % he has to throw in, but his main job is to administrate as CEO the NGOs. Not content to use their own funds, they probably use some of the funny money the Fed has been printing via QE, using the funds of We The People.

US State and deep cover operatives recruit and organize the people needed to start the revolt. As an aside, remember Mr Ayers and company spent about a year in Egypt before Mubarak was overthrown, no doubt under cover as NGO reps, using social media.

Once the "festivities" start, the deep cover snipers come in, killing personnel on both sides of the protest, which will hopefully then become a revolt. The sniper part is probably only one trick in their bag of tricks.

Once Order breaks down enough, "leaders" recruited by the phony NGOs appear, paid off by TPTB, and therefore willing to sell their countrymen down the river to the Loan Sharking operation run by the IMF. The IMF "loans" money to the Target Country, and gets the Au, infrastructure, and natural resources under their control. In the case of EurAsia, the goal is also to encircle and bankrupt the Russian Federation, thus acquiring their Au, infrastructure, and natural resources.

All these PTB are also aptly named Globalists. Their goal: financial and martial control of Planet Earth.

To mislead the Peoples of the US and Europe, the Globalists ratchet up Threats via their State Media from Iran, Russia, etc in order to gain 'permission' for economic sanctions and potential military action via rubber-stamped national assemblies whose leaders they have all blackmailed or bought off (hence the discovery of phony left-right political parties).

In order to amass and coordinate the Information needed to pull these gigs off, the NSA and their British counterparts were created. Within the realm of utterly unimaginable terabytes of raw data, any individual or entity deemed a threat to their control matrix can be identified and neutralised by searching the collected and archived data.

Most US military and civilian personnel with high-level clearances are compartmentalized, possibly suspecting, but never able to put the entire picture together.

Feel free to add to the narrative, or correct any mistakes.
