Ukraine Leader In New Leaked Recording: 8 Million Russians In Ukraine "Must Be Killed With Nuclear Weapons"
While the NSA is busy justifying its spying of every American its existence thanks to famous Moscow resident Edward Snowden, its Russian counterparts have been busy intercepting even more phone Ukrainian conversations.
After a month ago a leaked phone call between US assistant secretary of state Victoria Nuland and the US envoy to the Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt confirmed that it was the US that was pulling the strings in what was about to be a violent coup overthrowing Ukraine's president Yanukovich, "someone" has just leaked another phone conversation, this time between parliamentarian Nestor Shufrych and former PM and ideological leader of the Ukraine "revolution" Yulia Tymoshenko and most probable future president of West Ukraine, in which Tymoshenko is makes the following threats, "It’s going too far! Bugger! We must grab arms and go whack those damn katsaps [a Ukrainian word used to refer to the Russians in a negative tone] together with their leader", "I’ll use all my connections, I’ll raise the whole world – as soon as I’m able to – in order to make sure.. Bugger!.. not even scorched earth won’t remain where Russia stands" although all her empty threats collapse in the last sentence of the phone conversation in which she says, regarding the Crimea annexation, that "we are going to take it to the Hague International Criminal Court." Good luck with that.
But the smoking gun, and where Putin once again shows just how masterful of a chess player he is, is the following statement by Tymoshenko, after asked, rhetorically, by her counterparty, "what should we do now with the 8 million Russians that stayed in Ukraine. They are outcasts"... to which she replies: "They must be killed with nuclear weapons."
Needless to say, that is not how you make Russian friends, or diffuse geopolitical tensions with your superpower neighbor, who just happens to be set on recreating USSR 2.0. Because just like that Putin has his provocation carte blanche, as the second something, anything happens to any ethnic Russian in east Ukraine, Putin can point to precisely this conversation as proof of how Ukraine's "government" feels toward the ethnic minorities in the east, and why "they deserve to be protected" the Russian bearhug. Which has been precisely Putin's plan all along.
It is not surprising that after this recording was leaked, that Tymoshenko admitted the validity of the recording except for this part, because she knows just how greatly it can and will be used against her once Putin decides it is time to expand a little further beyond just Crimea.

When it comes to 3 flavors of propaganda coming out of Ukraine, pay close attention to the language being spoken by the reporters and those being interviewed.
Russian language implies content aimed at Russians, Ukraininan for Ukraininans and English for the West. During the confrontation at Maidan it was also worth noting which side of the barricade the reporters were located on. English speakers typically stood on the outside, good distance away from all the action. Ukrainians on the same side, right in front of the barricades. Russians were interviewing injured policemen and covering carnage inside government buildings.
So, 3 flavors of propaganda and 2 sub-section in each one. Inspirational and provocational - aimed either at people creating it, or at the opposition.
Timoshenko is speaking Russian in this specific piece in an attempt to put fear into Russians remaining in the Ukraine and possibly provoke an aggessive response from Putin's legions. All this resembles Saakashvili's Bravado, backed by full confidence in the Western support that may or may not actually materialize.

The point is that the idea of slaughtering millions of people is being thrown around as if it were a hollowed out BIC for spitballs. This is what has been unleashed by the domino war against former allies in the oil/mineral states, they say 'If we don't have weapons of mass destruction, nukes or chemicals, we will be accused of having them and then invaded.' All production soon takes a back seat to nukes, bioweapons, chemicals, etc. Arms race between multiple states and non-states instead of just two superpowers.
This is the problem, such logic becomes the new normal. A system, MAD, which was argued to be a strategic rationalisation against war becomes the object of immediate escalation as any idea of rational diplomacy has been undermined. 'We will say what we want because We Know. Hand over the weapons of mass destruction or prepare for consequences. And never mind the dinners we had the other week, relations are over.' Isn't this similar to what soldiers face now, isn't much of the PTSD problem because many soldiers do no know where the threat is coming from? An explosive could be next to a car, they could be ambushed by non-soldiers, or even attacked by people they are training.
And that's not to say the military personnel and the political leaders are in the same situation in terms of difficulty, only that diplomacy has become something of a war zone. No one knows now if the US can be trusted, many actually suspect they cannot and realise a clock is ticking. The bully has been hoarding weapons, taking over weak nations one by one, and using nukes and weapons of mass destruction itself. The whole rational possibility of war has been destroyed.
Personally, I suspect JFK was killed because of his potential to undermine the 'rational' MAD doctrine. And now such outbursts of threatening to use weapons is the norm. This does not bode well.

Where have you seen "invasion" of Russia to Ukraine? Russian troops were in the Crimea in accordance with the Treaty. Invasion was not. Russia does not exceed the limit of its troops in the Crimea - 24,000 people.
The invasion of Georgia was valid - as an act of protection of Russian peacekeepers. Saakashvili shot direct fire from tanks, to kill the Russian peacekeepers. Russia had respond for it and did all 100% the right thing.

With the notable exception of Crimea, if everyone agrees that there are 8M ethnic Russians in a county of ~$45M (or less than 1 in 5), then modern-day Russia has as much interest in Ukraine as England has in India and to a much larger point, much less interest than England has in Scotland or Ireland....

But you should also recognize that, while individuals are protective of family members from external threats, intra-familial conflict inside of a kinship is it's own problem. How many Russians did Lenin and Stalin kill in the Purges? If you don't recognize that, then you are the one with a "very odd conception of 'national interest.'"

Millions of Russians living in Ukraine aside...60% of Ukraine's trade is with Russia. Russians and Ukrainians are basically the same people. Russians trace their national heritage back to Kiev, as the Duchy of Moscow, which later became Russia, grew out of Kiev Rus. The two languages are, I believe, mutually intelligible. Ukraine/Ukrainian as a nation-state and nationality didn't even exist until 1917...before that most of what is Ukraine today was part of Russia since the 1600s. The two have been intimately intertwined since the 12th century.
Really, this type of thing is really sad to see because these kinds of conflicts are always exploited by outsiders and foreigners, and always to the ultimate detriment of the people living in the country in question.

Weak? Weak is thinking that the current map of Europe hasn't changed materially every 20 years for the last 500 years. The current nation-state of Germany didn't resemble it's borders until roughly 1870. Do you want to talk about the Hapsburgs and the Austro-Hungarian Empire? Maybe even trace things back to the Holy Roman Empire? And prior to ~1850, large swaths of Russia society were still held serfdom. You could say that England and the United States, which share a common language, common form of government, and common legal and economic institutions are intimately intertwined moreso than Ukraine and Russia, but I would never call any Englishman my "Lord" and for all that I care, God can abandon the Queen.

Epochs name and the name of the State - they are different things that should not be confused. Kiev was the capital of the state, which was called Rus. Therefore , Prince Vladimir, was a Russian prince, and not some "Ukrainian." During the reign of Prince Vladimir and the Baptism of Russia, words such as "Ukraine" and "Ukrainian" - did not exist .
If the great Russian prince Vladimir learned that it is now called by some "Ukrainian" , he would have turned over in his grave indignation. And if he had been raised, then executed to anyone who would dare to call it "Ukrainian."

I am suppossed to accept your 40% figure because you say so? Ethnicity is a very danerous subject - case in point: African-Americans. For most Americans, if a person is 1/32nd African-American, then that person is 100% black. At one time, becuase of the laws in individual states, a the same person could be considered "black" in Alabama, but "white" in California. So, I don't know what the inter-marriage rate between Russians and Ukrainians is in Ukraine, but I have not read anything that would back your assertion that Ukraine is composed of 40% Russians. Maybe some of the districts have percentages that high, but not the whole Ukraine.

All family I know in Kiev area speak Russian and even more Russian prevails in business...
West is conquered land..Lvov, etc...are largely pole blood...not same genetic as other Ukrainian , which is hard to put a handle on also....but most share genetics more with west Russians. DNA agrees.
"Ukraine" has much history, but not as a viable nation named Ukraine..

all will vary..Ukraine know Russian more than reverse. Even Russians speak different over regions
Many Russians speak better correct Angliski most mericans...cos much better educated
