Jim Rogers: "America Is Shooting Itself In The Foot" Over Russia

Tyler Durden's picture

There is no reason for Russia to worry about the western sanctions it is facing now over the Ukrainian issue since "Moscow has too many other trade partners to work with," Jim Rogers explains in this interview, adding that "America is shooting itself in a foot getting the most of our world to pushing China and Russia closer together." Simply put, he warns, "I don’t see any sanctions strategy that they can use that will hurt Russia worse than it will hurt the people imposing those sanctions."

Via Voice Of Russia,

Could China’s decision to purchase superjet planes be viewed as a gesture of support following a series of sanctions imposed by the West against Moscow over the Ukrainian issue?

Of course it is. I’m an American, so I hate to say this, but America is shooting itself in a foot getting the most of our world to pushing China and Russia closer together. And you are going to see more and more trade between the two. And that makes the sanctions against Russia almost impossible, because there are other people who will not play.

And are there chances for the Russia Sukhoi Superjet planes to compete with other major plane-makers?

I don’t think that the Russians have enough to compete with Boeing planes yet. But you are certainly getting better. I mean, as far as cargo planes, you are probably better than anybody else. And if people are forcing you or forcing other people to buy from you, then, of course, your costs will go down, your quality will get better and it will only benefit Russia, but not benefit Europe or America.

I think that’s one reason Europe and America are a little hesitant to do too much about the sanctions, because they know that they may lose more than they will gain.

And there are some articles on the Internet right now where different experts say that the sanctions imposed by the EU and the US could be bad only for them. What do you think about this sanctions strategy that the US and the EU are using with respect to Russia?

I don’t see any sanctions strategy that they can use that will hurt Russia worse than it will hurt the people imposing those sanctions. You have many people who will trade with you – China, Iran, many of your neighbours. America cannot patrol all of those borders. You can get just about any products you need. Plus, some of the products that you sell, other people need them very-very badly, such as natural gas and some of the metals.

I think Mr. Obama is making the fool of himself yet again. After all, Mr. Obama is the one who instigated the coup in Ukraine where there was an elected Government. Mr. Obama, his diplomats are recorded and we have recordings of them saying – we’ve got to do something about this Government. And then, when it went against him, he got angry. And I’m afraid he is going to shoot himself in the foot yet again.

And if we come back to this Sukhoi Superjet deal, does it mean that Moscow is switching to the eastern market and what are the other Asian countries that Moscow could cooperate with in the nearest future, apart from China?

Of course, Russia is being forced to look east and not necessarily because they want to, but because they have to. If people are going to impose the sanctions and if you look to the east, you’d see who is out there, who may or may not trade with you. Not just North Korea, not just China, some other countries –Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam certainly will, Indonesia certainly will. So, many people that don’t have problems with Russia these days, they will be happy to trade with Russia.

So, this decision to purchase these superjet planes is a gesture of support followed by the sanctions. And what about China’s trade with Ukraine in this regard? Will they stop any economic relations with Ukraine?

I doubt it. I don’t know why they would. I mean, they don’t want to be involved in a trade war. So, I don’t see why most Asian nations would cut off Ukraine or Russia, or anybody else. This is the fight Mr. Obama has picked and, perhaps, to some extent Mr. Putin. But I don’t know why China would stop trading with Ukraine, I don’t see that at all.

Sorry to be pedantic. The expression "shoot oneself in the foot" comes from WW1 when Brit soldiers would sometimes shoot themselves in the foot, causing a wound not too serious, but enough to get one shipped back to UK and out of the fighting. It means to get out of doing something unpleasant by sabotaging oneself.

I think the expression Mr Rogers is looking for is "America is shooting itself in the head over Russie".

"America Is Shooting Itself In The Foot" Over Russia"

And who would benefit from such scenario? Nothing is more efficient to transfer power and wealth from bottom to top as a good economic crisis:

1998 - The IMF eliminate food and fuel subsidies for the poor in Indonesia. At the same time the IMF soaked up tens of billions of dollars to save Indonesia's financiers or rather the international banks from whom they had borrowed.

A document leaks out of the World Bank, called, "Master Plan for Brazil." In it it spells out five requirements to ensure a flexible public sector workforce. These are as follows:

  • Reduce Salary/Benefits
  • Reduce Pensions
  • Increase Work Hours
  • Reduce Job Stability
  • Reduce Employment

agree with jim, any sanctions will and have the potential to hurt the west far more than those being 'punished'. the system is looking shakier than ever.

Perhaps Russia and China are getting weary of the U.S. and Europe through their Central Banks distorting the markets for real goods and services and realize a deal with China would set-up an axis trade that is not manipulated by elite individuals printing  money to bail out bad business models.  Work, goods, and commodities have been devalued by the Central Banks in an effort to raise the value of the assets underlyng the poor loans and business financed by the West.  This maybe the beginning of a much larger play.  If Russia is able to destabalize the main street media and propoganda of the West, and people truly see the bull they have been fed by the Financial Central planners, it could be a game changer.  Russia's central planner of the past may have failed, but the poverty inflicted was far less than the repression on savers now.

An unholy alliance between Russia and China may create major problems for America going forward, Putin is not stupid he understands America created modern day China starting back in the 70s to offset growing Soviet power and he is now prepared to use China against us. The articles below support this theory.

I just keep replaying in my head the video and audio of Obama telling Putin that he will have more flexibility after the election.  Clearly something was planned by the two of them.  Why do we even assume that Mr. Obama even wants to do what's best for America?

There is, if anyone looks for it, circumstantial evidence pointing towards Bath House being a Red Agent. Perhaps he was part of a 'manchurian' plan before the fall of the USSR. That would leave Putin with an Agent at his disposal to further the new Russian Federation. You make use of what you have.

There is no doubt in my mind Bath House is a communist; so is Jarrett. Ayers, all of them. Look at the history of the CPUSA in Chicago. They are successfully demolishing the USA while almost everyone sleeps.

But, it's deeper than just 'communism.' Like 'fascism,' it is a means to an end, which is Control. And Power.

Hard to tell whose side is which, eh?

It is easier to know who is on OUR side, though.  If you are an American, you know who you are.

This Republic has never been in the danger it is now. Bath House Barry is just the willing front man for a cabal of evil people seeking power. The 'ism' (ideology) leading to that power is almost irrelevant!

Use your common sense. The US Military is being depleted and reduced. The DHS is assuming Power. It is the SS, the Cheka, the Savak, the feared Secret Police of any totalitarian state. And they are arming. They are arming to kill and imprison as many Americans as they have to when they "pull the switch."

You do not stockpile the arms, ammunition, and armor (recycled MRAPS) unless you plan to use it, or know you will Need To Use It.

This cabal also uses the hatred of fools like Bath House to assume office. Ayers has repeatedly said he wants America destroyed. He now has his man in office. He has done his part.

This is the sublime beauty of his and the cabal's plan: Effect the destruction of the Republic and  install a new Collective, Centralized State. If their gamble wins, they lead a new government. If they fail, and the US is wrecked through civil war, they still achieve their goal, albeit in a reduced form: the "USA" they hate will be destroyed, broken up into regional units, its peoples massacred, its economy destroyed, its natural resources in ruins.

They are not idealistic revolutionaries. They are sick, twisted freaks whose nihlism climaxes in an orgy of Destruction: some people just want to watch the world burn. It is a dark evil living in their perverted souls, an evil which will consume all of us who, as our Founders, just want to be left alone with Natural, or God-Given Rights.

They must be stopped. At any cost. Picking up a weapon is not the right way (although each of us has a Natural right to Defense). This War must be fought on a mental, spiritual, and Righteous way.

Our time is short. As we struggle against the propaganda, and the misdirection.

But, make no mistake. The Whirlwind is coming.

Keep Stackin'

Keep Packin!
