Saudi Arabia Passes New Law That Declares Atheists "Terrorists"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Mike Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

Nothing like being close allies with one of the most despotic, Medieval and backwards societies on planet earth.

Never forget, the USA brings democracy to the world!

With the exception of puppet governments sitting on billions of barrels of oil reserves and disturbing ties to the 9/11 attacks. Those governments we love.

From the UK Independent:

Saudi Arabia has introduced a series of new laws which define atheists as terrorists, according to a report from Human Rights Watch.

In a string of royal decrees and an overarching new piece of legislation to deal with terrorism generally, the Saudi King Abdullah has clamped down on all forms of political dissent and protests that could “harm public order”.

Article one of the new provisions defines terrorism as “calling for atheist thought in any form, or calling into question the fundamentals of the Islamic religion on which this country is based”.

Joe Stork, deputy Middle East and North Africa director of Human Rights Watch, said: “Saudi authorities have never tolerated criticism of their policies, but these recent laws and regulations turn almost any critical expression or independent association into crimes of terrorism.

The organization said the new “terrorism” provisions contain language that prosecutors and judges are already using to prosecute and convict independent activists and peaceful dissidents.

Let’s not forget that just last week Obama was over in the Kingdom cuddling up to these creepy authoritarians.

Our foreign policy is a joke.

One more Saudi story, which I have told before, but it's just so quintessentially Saudi that I'm going to bore the readers with it again.

Years ago I was sitting in a hotel lobby in Jeddah, and a wave of heavily armed security men entered.  In the middle of them were Zia al Haq, then-Pakistani President, and Yassar Arafat.  As the sole foreigner I got a quick look over, but as I was just sipping tea and munching on dates, I guess I passed muster.  While all the brewhaha was still going on, I walked outside the lobby, and parked right in front was a military jeep with a .50 cal machine gun mounted on the back.  A belt of ammo hung from the side.  The jeep was empty.  Prayer time was just about to begin, so the soldiers had gone off for their ablution.

Since Allah knows all, see all and controls all, there is no need to actually man that machine gun and do one's job.  If Allah wanted bad guys to take over the machine guy do you seriously think a human could prevent it?  You rationalists are 900 years in the wrong direction! s/

"raided a private Christian prayer meeting being held by a group of Filipino laborers and nannies, who were already of the Christian faith.  The two "ringleaders" were sentenced to death, which---ironically or coldly---was to be carried out on 25 December.  Only intervention by the US on behalf of the "guilty" got them deported rather than beheaded."

One of the rare instances in which the US govt does something right.

And that's all you need to know about those fuckmonkeys. Rabbid, insane, most dangerous terrorist mindset possible. I mean really, anyone who believes in beheadings for alternative beliefs yet has a belief a stuffed animal needs a VISA because it has a soul... utterly criminally insane.

Even Jason Voorhees was cast at a lower level of insanity and he was still all good with the beheadings.

You can’t explain the sense of oppression that exists in the air in Riyadh. When I received a contract to go there for a year – great money – my friends warned me about it. “How bad can it be? You guys are pussies,” is what I told them.

After 8 months I rang the bell. Fuck this. I will never go back. The day I flew out of there forever was like taking a time machine from the middle ages to the 21st century.

The discussion we had the other day on Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness” springs to mind.  Riyadh? Riyadh is the modern day Belgian Congo. Obama’s field trip encased in his bubble with his entourage doesn’t count for those idiots. They were spoon fed the pretend Riyadh.

I would love for Obama's followers to visit the real Riyadh. The religous police would whip them into shape (literally).

The US could EASILY take over KSA and bomb the fuckers into "500 BC" (as indicated in an above post, re comment from fired Pan Am flight attendant).

Problem is, KSA leads OPEC in its policy to use the PETRO-DOLLAR. Which, in turn enables the symbiotic relationship between the Petrodollar and the MIC. This, in turn, enables Neocons and imperialist-Zionists to use/leverage/hijack the US for its own sociopathic purposes of global expansion and domination. When that is accomplished (per their ambition/vision), and they control a Global Currency, KSA will be 'toast'.

Which explains why Obomber went to grovel in Riyadh, lest they start selling oil in other currencies. Simple, really.

Brains of religious and atheists work differently when it comes to judging moral dilemas:

http://scan.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2012/10/29/scan.nss121

It goes to show that religious indoctrination has an effect on how the brain functions. And in case of the 'religion of peace' -and probably others- for sure it will lead to neurosis, psychosis, hallucinations, schizophrenia and other flavors of mental illnesses.

Our actions speak loudly to how desperate and dependent we really are. In the past 23 years we have fought war after war to keep the flow going.  We have become servants to those who keep it. Watchdogs for a gang of desert pimps. Now we are tempting war with real nuclear armed adversaries for the potential gain of a few more drops. In the choice between war and being without, war is apparently viewed as the lesser evil. If that is the case, we are truly lost.

And there it is in a nutshell!

It's ALL about growth.  Where there are insufficient resources for growth then you have to take/steal them; and if you don't do it then you become someone else's bitch...  Like children playing, it only ever ends with someone crying.  It ends in war...

It really is quite pathetic, the silly stories that are made up to hide all the realities.

Still have to wonder whether the average Saudi citizen realizes how wrong it's going to go for them.  And just when one thinks that they're getting away without swallowing... as US business dries up they're really going to find it necessary to ramp up business with China.  China, whose govt is declared atheist!

Yes.  As I note below I think that this is a play to help move away from the US (bad fiat and no support on Syria).  The US will be painted as a bunch of atheists: and I'm sure that all the "smart" folks running around here from the US will help them paint that picture by stating how the US is controlled by a bunch of atheists (looking to suppress all the Christians).  When you aren't all caught up in everyone's slogans, when you're not looking to be a victim and aligning with poor logic you can see this how all of this forms/works (and when things don't work as people "believe" they'll blame it on others, though the real failure lies in their own thinking [or, rather, lack of]).

Maybe Iran are more pragmatic to deal with than the Saud's, time will tell.

King Abdullah and his entourage are losing control of being the king of Arabia, this is just another neceesary enforcement to restrict the people.

"For the first time, i have to say that you got to empathise with the west in having to deal with these morons."

Are they holding a gun to the heads of western governments?

The Saudis should be free to do whatever they wish to do, in their own sandbox.  If this is, as I suspect it is, more of a play to set the stage for decoupling from the US then so be it.  It's not like we don't know that govts facilitate all sorts of bad things on a nationalistic front.  As open markets start to dry up they'll be faced with selling directly to the likes of China.  Do I need to point out how precarious That will be?  (and consider increasingly closer ties between China and Russia)  Eventually, when the oil runs out for everyone, we'll see how well our nations/countries hold together...

"King Abdullah and his entourage are losing control of being the king of Arabia, this is just another neceesary enforcement to restrict the people."

Well, they'eve been losing control for a LONG time: I've thought this way for a long time.  I think that they're starting to see that the US's power isn't going to hold up and that it is only inevitable that one day the US won't be able to protect that group of elitists.

I take solice in knowing that BAD SYSTEMS FAIL.

This makes a lot of sense. Organized religion rose up as a system of government and law enforcement. To suggest the invalidity of the system is to attack the system itself, thus bringing instability and threatening the very existence of the state itself. Whether god exists or not is irrelevant. The west was very lucky that the pope assumed the role of a Roman emperor without having the real power to back it up, allowing the Holy Roman Emperors to challenge his authority - eventually leading into massive wars and a more secular government.

Faith is religion. Religion is faith. Everyone has a faith whether they frame it in these terms or not. Empires rise because people support the quasi-moral ideas expressed by the "empire." People believe the empire is an extension of their righteousness. Empires fall when people loose faith in it.

The false religions we suffer against today are the same as those the Egyptians suffered under the Pharaohs. Empires fall because false religion/faith is carried to it's inevitable conclusion. Rebellion against God has implications and it is mankind's fate to choose sides.

BringOnTheAsteroid,

What you say is true of course, given your definition of God. Some of it is independently true.

"If there was a god humans would be aligned absolutely, categorically and completely with each other in their belief and worship, this is surely self evident." - only if your purpose is to have people be robots

"Most ironically the very notion of god and belief and worship is subject to evolution. If there was a god this also would not be the case. Worship would be static and unchanging unless of course god morphed over time." - again only if the assumption is a God who wants only adoration

A significant portion of my definition of God is Life, Truth, and the goodness of both. All three are essentially the same thing. All are both simple and complex at the same time.

The best description I've seen of God in the physical sense was in a book about the frontiers of physics. Particles being in two places at once, communicating instantaneously. Part of their theory went something like this. The world attempts to become perfect. At some point along infinity it does, and everything starts over again. The Big Bang doesn't make sense. Nothing becomes everything. We can never know everything.

Life itself is a paradox.

The common denominator that I see in the purpose of human beings is the discovery of truth. We are all striving to make sense of the world, to see what fits, to find words that describe reality.

In the end, Life is Beautiful, Life is Good. Truth does exist.

Back in the year 900 Ad the Sinbadian sect of muslims; incensed by the sterile and mutally debilitating in-fighting amongst rabid Sunnis and Shias in the Abbasid Empire, decided to steal the black stone of Kaba; mythical metiorite.

They cut it into nine pieces and took it to Dilsum where their kigdom was; currently Oman.

For fifty years that black stone symbol of Islam, lay there in 9 pieces while the Sunnis and Shias slaughtered each other in name of Allah the one and only.

Until a new leader managed to defeat the Sinbadian sect whose leader was out to sea looking for Scherezade-- Eve's hypersexual daughter lost in sinbadian frolicking on the seven seas. They took back the 9 stones to Mecca and patched them into one using holy super glue; its patchwork now decorating one corner of the Kaba, sitting in the middle of the dock of tha bay of holy church of Mekka; in the plain of Arafat; (the dirty rat to the Israeli reigning Bibi demonic kleptocrats, iconically named after that hill  of Mekkah).

Hallelujah! or Allah o Akbar; this is a true story about God's magical powers of making super glue!

Pity it doesn't work on uniting Sunni-Shia cut-throat dissensions, worse than anything an atheist could imagine in his sinful Aristotelian wet dreams.

Apart from the glue, what stays true in muslim lands a thousand and four score years later; where Allah reigns supreme in his All-seeing presence;  is that "the Kaba lot" hate more than anything else "the Qom lot" ; those deviant Persian bearded heretics, worse in their beady Bedouin eyes than atheists.

(Notice a Qom beard has nothing in common with a Mekkah beard, the latter combed differently with Henna seeds and black pee-wee straight out from Ghawar fountain of Allah's eternal munificence, the Arabian spring of Black Stone; all women can kiss it from far).

We all have our black holes of Hades and blind spots from excessive sun gazing; looking for pots of gold; now all belonging to the Chinese 9 oligarchs that rule the world.

Saudi royal wealth is entirely an accident of geography. Every penny.

They build nothing and they create nothing--not in 100 years.

They could have cured a major disease by now, but instead they fly around on 747s buying race horses, and execute their foreign maids if they burn the toast.

They are the most malignant society in world history.

I say feed them bratwurst until their heads explode.
