US Threatens Russia Over Petrodollar-Busting Deal
On the heels of Russia's potential "holy grail" gas deal with China, the news of a Russia-Iran oil "barter" deal, it appears the US is starting to get very concerned about its almighty Petrodollar
- *U.S. HAS WARNED RUSSIA, IRAN AGAINST POSSIBLE OIL BARTER DEAL
- *U.S. SAYS ANY SUCH DEAL WOULD TRIGGER SANCTIONS
- *U.S. HAS CONVEYED CONCERNS TO IRANIAN GOVT THROUGH ALL CHANNELS
We suspect these sanctions would have more teeth than some travel bans, but, as we noted previously, it is just as likely to be another epic geopolitical debacle resulting from what was originally intended to be a demonstration of strength and instead is rapidly turning out into a terminal confirmation of weakness.
As we explained earlier in the week,
Russia seems perfectly happy to telegraph that it is just as willing to use barter (and "heaven forbid" gold) and shortly other "regional" currencies, as it is to use the US Dollar, hardly the intended outcome of the western blocakde, which appears to have just backfired and further impacted the untouchable status of the Petrodollar.
...
"If Washington can't stop this deal, it could serve as a signal to other countries that the United States won't risk major diplomatic disputes at the expense of the sanctions regime,"
And here is Voice of Russia, "Russia prepares to attack the Petrodollar":
The US dollar's position as the base currency for global energy trading gives the US a number of unfair advantages. It seems that Moscow is ready to take those advantages away.
The existence of “petrodollars” is one of the pillars of America's economic might because it creates a significant external demand for American currency, allowing the US to accumulate enormous debts without defaulting. If a Japanese buyer want to buy a barrel of Saudi oil, he has to pay in dollars even if no American oil company ever touches the said barrel. Dollar has held a dominant position in global trading for such a long time that even Gazprom's natural gas contracts for Europe are priced and paid for in US dollars. Until recently, a significant part of EU-China trade had been priced in dollars.
Lately, China has led the BRICS efforts to dislodge the dollar from its position as the main global currency, but the “sanctions war” between Washington and Moscow gave an impetus to the long-awaited scheme to launch the petroruble and switch all Russian energy exports away from the US currency .
The main supporters of this plan are Sergey Glaziev, the economic aide of the Russian President and Igor Sechin, the CEO of Rosneft, the biggest Russian oil company and a close ally of Vladimir Putin. Both have been very vocal in their quest to replace the dollar with the Russian ruble. Now, several top Russian officials are pushing the plan forward.
First, it was the Minister of Economy, Alexei Ulyukaev who told Russia 24 news channel that the Russian energy companies must should ditch the dollar. “ They must be braver in signing contracts in rubles and the currencies of partner-countries, ” he said.
Then, on March 2, Andrei Kostin, the CEO of state-owned VTB bank, told the press that Gazprom, Rosneft and Rosoboronexport, state company specialized in weapon exports, can start trading in rubles. “ I've spoken to Gazprom, to Rosneft and Rosoboronexport management and they don't mind switching their exports to rubles. They only need a mechanism to do that ”, Kostin told the attendees of the annual Russian Bank Association meeting.
Judging by the statement made at the same meeting by Valentina Matviyenko, the speaker of Russia's upper house of parliament, it is safe to assume that no resources will be spared to create such a mechanism. “ Some ‘hot headed' decision-makers have already forgotten that the global economic crisis of 2008 - which is still taking its toll on the world - started with a collapse of certain credit institutions in the US, Great Britain and other countries. This is why we believe that any hostile financial actions are a double-edged sword and even the slightest error will send the boomerang back to the aborigines,” she said.
It seems that Moscow has decided who will be in charge of the “boomerang”. Igor Sechin, the CEO of Rosneft, has been nominated to chair the board of directors of Saint-Petersburg Commodity Exchange, a specialized commodity exchange. In October 2013, speaking at the World Energy Congress in Korea, Sechin called for a "global mechanism to trade natural gas" and went on suggesting that " it was advisable to create an international exchange for the participating countries, where transactions could be registered with the use of regional currencies ". Now, one of the most influential leaders of the global energy trading community has the perfect instrument to make this plan a reality. A Russian commodity exchange where reference prices for Russian oil and natural gas will be set in rubles instead of dollars will be a strong blow to the petrodollar.
Rosneft has recently signed a series of big contracts for oil exports to China and is close to signing a “jumbo deal” with Indian companies. In both deals, there are no US dollars involved. Reuters reports, that Russia is close to entering a goods-for-oil swap transaction with Iran that will give Rosneft around 500,000 barrels of Iranian oil per day to sell in the global market. The White House and the russophobes in the Senate are livid and are trying to block the transaction because it opens up some very serious and nasty scenarios for the petrodollar. If Sechin decides to sell this Iranian oil for rubles, through a Russian exchange, such move will boost the chances of the “petroruble” and will hurt the petrodollar.
It can be said that the US sanctions have opened a Pandora's box of troubles for the American currency. The Russian retaliation will surely be unpleasant for Washington, but what happens if other oil producers and consumers decide to follow the example set by Russia? During the last month, China opened two centers to process yuan-denominated trade flows, one in London and one in Frankfurt. Are the Chinese preparing a similar move against the greenback? We'll soon find out.
Finally, those curious what may happen next, only not to Iran but to Russia, are encouraged to read "From Petrodollar To Petrogold: The US Is Now Trying To Cut Off Iran's Access To Gold."

Now we are getting to the crux of the matter.
You will have noticed that Kerry is very pessimistic about US ME arbitration; as we know totally biased in favour of US protectorate of neo-Templar state, aka Israel; in its territorial and political claims over the Palestine indigenous population.
We get the feeling that NOBODY takes the US State dept. and its residual mission seriously in the current ME conundrum.
If this is the political Zeitgeist of the coming age then it spells bad for PAx Americana presence there.
As psychology and mindset are everything in any combat, as we all KNOW.
If the other guy feels you are short of juice and especially of conviction, then your opponent (In this case Putin), feels boosted to push to the end.
And the events in Afghanistan as elsewhere in ME are signals of a major reversal of AMerican presence in the region; a bit like Saigon 1975.
Tipping times and awesome power reversal chimes. In the Middle ages that game changing date was : 1492.
Is 2008 and what ensues of the same order of magnitude, as the Western wave of civilization reverses?
Of course they don't take us seriously in the ME. Would you take Kerry & Obama seriously?
But... as the Oil patch is what makes the world go round and Pax Americana pretends to be hegemon and iconic leader of what western civilization is ...the implications are ominous.
If the leaders, those today or their successors tomorrow, of the Oil kingdoms; out of which the USA has already lost Iran in 1978 and is in the process of losing Iraq thanks to blowback of its criminal mayhem of GWB days; spreads to Kuwait and other Emirates, then the whole conventional oil equation that FEEDS the West gets changed, maybe IRREVERSIBLY.
And your "seriously" acquires a new meaning, which is not just intellectual query but of awesome MATERIAL consequence as it destroys the foundations of the petrodollar greenback.
Humpty Dumpty...and all the kings horses and all the king's men.
I still don't get their timing.
In 2004 Kerry was the man of nuance and subtlety. Those were the days.
Kerry, a poor man's Secretariat.
Kerry isn't fit to clean Secretariat's sheath...just sayin
DaddyO
Hey Putin,
be forewarned. You saw what Obammy just did to our economy?
Ruining economics is something Obammy CAN do. Kenya was a 3rd world shithole after Obama's daddy got some degree in commie economics and after Obammy got a JD in COnstitutional Law.
Yeah I heard that Japan went full throttle on Pearl Harbor because the U.S. blocked it's oil shipments.
Obama can't handle the neocons, how's he gonna handle Putin?
OBAMA SENT PUSSY RIOT TO CONFRONT PUTIN.
OMG.
I'm doing a seance to bring Reagan back. THis is horrible, embarrasingly incompetant, etc.
Dude! It's really frickin' easy. Since Bernanke was doing the Hora in the Mudurabah- while QE is enabling Oil speculators everywhere to violate Sharia Law violators to do push more American Pesos out of the U.S.; WHY ARE WE NOT CONSUMING DOMESTICALLY DRILLED SUPPLY SIDE OIL?
We don't need Reagan. We need a new source of cheap plentiful energy and the ability to manufacture liquid/gasseous fules from that form of energy. Now that would be a game changer.
Thorium/liquid salt reactors to generate electricity for a) grid power b) conversion of coal to liquid fuel (US has lots of coal).
China is pursuing this. They also have lots of coal. Thorium too.
What stands in the way? As always, vested interests and sunk costs.
This is the bridge technology that gets us to fusion power, if that is actually possible. If not, start practicing how to chip flint.
Sandia Labs was working on technology to break CO2 down to CO. It used a cobalt-ferrite (basically cobalt and iron oxide) ceramic wheel. Heat it up enough, and the iron oxide would give off an oxygen atom, which would then strip off one of the oxygen atoms from the CO2. Once you have the CO, you need a supply of energy and a supply of hydrogen and some people who are better chemists than I to start building long hydrocarbon chains to manufacture the fuels. There is no need to mine coal.
As for the thorium reactors, there are still some engineering challenges that need to address things like waste storage and fine tuning, but considering that we built a working reactor nearly 50 years ago, we should be able to kick ass on it today. The problem is that we should have been building these things a decade ago if we wanted to avoid the problems that we will be facing.
"There is no need to mine coal."
The main question in the example you give, is how much energy does it take to synthesis fuel, vs taking it from nature in a pre-conditioned state. I'm not a chemist, so I don't have that answer.
From a cost POV though, I'd say taking advantage of existing infrastructure (coal mines, rail links, refineries, etc) will be cheaper in the short to mid run than building entirely new technology for the same ends.
That's not to say the new technology won't be the end goal, simply that conversion of coal can be a bridge, until the cost is on an equal footing. After that, the new tech will kick in.
As for thorium, apart from the obvious advantages (fewer harmful by-products, inherent safety, etc) you have the advantage of scaleability. Fewer large instalations vs more small scale generators means:
1. Less dependancy on grid distribution = reduced transmission loss and greater resistance to major failure (blackouts).
2. Co-generation from industrial users (eg: steel & aluminum) thus mitgating peak-demand issues. Production runs during off peak (furnaces, kilns, etc) then power to the grid during peak. Sunk cost and legacy issues shifted from public to private budgets leaving more flexibility in public policy making.
Finally, concurrent with this approach you have advances in efficiency at all levels, from superconducting transmission, to LED's for home lighting, and everything in between. We're just getting started in this area, so the greater impact still lies ahead.
Say how about a thorium reactor? On the drawing boards of India and China. Ooooo this just in, you cannot use them to make plutonium for sweet sweet bombs so the Military-Industrial-Banker complex says no way!
Thorium thoughts are not new.
Thorium thoughts have been analyzed and dismissed for physics reasons, not conspiracy reasons.
There is no law of the universe that says this all is going to have a happy ending. We CAN run out of oil. We CAN fail to find any alternative. And 6 of the 7 billion CAN die.
And will.
The biggest physics problem with them is kick starting the reactor because Th-232 is not fissile. So you need a fissile material to start the breeding process. I'm pretty sure that we have a shit-ton of nuclear waste from the current light water reactors that has a shit ton of fissile material in it.
Edit: Given our current way of life, we are going to bump into other resource limits even if we can solve the energy problems. After oil, the next big problem will be fresh water. No happy ending indeed.
"After oil, the next big problem will be fresh water."
Monsanto will engineer a wheat plant that grows in salt water. Problem solved!
Plenny of Kelp and other edible Sea Flora.
Fukushima'ed.
Fresh water can be made from sea water if there's energy available.
How much larger could the Roman Empire have been if they had only discovered how to use all that hydrocarbon energy that was within their reach?
It took over ~ 1000 yrs for someone to figure how to build an engine.
Makes you wonder what energy sources are literally "under our feet" that we cannot see, understand, or comprehend??
TESLA
We are. Every drop that exists.
Look at a map, dood. A global map.
Do you really think that surface area of the US, pumping full out since 1910ish, has more oil under it than the surface area of Russia?
They Have More Geography.
They haven't been pumping as long at full out desperation.
Why would you think the US can have more?
"Look at a map, dood. A global map."
You need more than a present day map - you need a map that shows the earth as it was millions of years ago - where the tropical forests and shallow oceans were, vs deserts and mountains.
Black Swan.
Inconceivable!
I smell another red line coming...
Na, Obummmers painted himself into a corner and he's just about out of paint.
DaddyO
I grew uparound KGB people as my dad was a general in the army.
Don't fuck with KGB they're worst then the SS!
I like this. "They're worst. Then the SS!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9F5HWWYrCg
Hard to know of anything worse than the SS actually.
They did pay the ultimate price going toe to toe with the Russians though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZJczZ6gbVU
we'll see how the USSA and "ZATO" do I guess.
Worse than the SS? DHS, FBI, BATF, DEA, and so on. They're gonna make the SS look like Boy Scouts.
Lookout about GRU. The most secret from the secret. Biggest enemy of KGB (CIA branch)
Putin is their man (do not ask me how it is possible)
These guys have 300+ satellites, 200 000+ analysts, several secret cities in Siberia (YES) and Specnaz. They control the army. KGB controlled the party (it was mostly ideological control)
Bullshit about KGB vileness is biggest bullhit ever. They were controlling the Party. Whent they started to lose (1977) they created afghanistan, bush putsch (reagan shooted) and US already ruled secretly by bolsheviks (kisinger, brzezinski, CFR) trying first nuclear strike

They failed, so they installed their heir man Gorbachev (where is he now?)
All this was conducted by two masterminds:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleg_Kalugin
From WIKI ( disinfo anyway)
Early life and the KGB careerBorn in Leningrad and son of an officer in the NKVD, Kalugin attended Leningrad State University and, subsequently, was recruited by the KGB under the aegis of the First Chief Directorate (Foreign Intelligence). After training he was sent to the United States, where he enrolled as a journalism student at Columbia University on a Fulbright scholarship in 1958, along with Aleksandr Yakovlev. He continued to pose as a journalist for a number of years, eventually serving as the Radio Moscow correspondent at the United Nations. In 1965 — after five years in New York — he returned to Moscow to serve under the cover of press officer in the Soviet Foreign Ministry.
Baah ... gyus, do not be fooled. We can expect many many surprises soon.
One of the sweetiest secrets is that CIA and KGB woked hand in hand like black and white.
They controlled drug and oil business (Gorbachev was known for his money appetite and Raisa loved schmucks. He ws turning blind eye to drug running from afghanistan through his Stavropol kingdom) Nobel prize winner! For peace! Hahhhhahahaha. If you want to know what is going on in the world find please this little book:

And listen to Alexander Dugin. He is veeery important!
Biggest struggle in the world is going on INSIDE of Rossia and ex-soviet space. There is ENORMOUS fortunes and potential!
All the money and power in the west is marginal compared to this. People like Putin and GRU fuck the money. They have all the resources in the world and LACK OF GOOD MANAGERS. To use this riches in Siberia.
West has only gren zeroes in computers.
They see west meddling as stupid annoying bullshit. I guess still much more resources are used in internal development than fight with the west.
But they are now already quite tired and starting to be pissed ( like in 1941). Ukraine is big embarassement for them. They compare it to Guderian weekend trip.
Be carefull, because when they go pissed, they will smash the west like nasty bug.
Do not forget that Putin is from Leningrad (St. Pete) and his family lived through the Blockade.
Read this lttle funny article:

And beware! You are living in the interesting times! Do not believe your eyes!
Don't forget to throw in the NKVD and the Cheka...
SS Major Werner von Braun did well until he got cancer. So did many of the other SS NAZAistas under Project Paperclip. Von Braun could have been tried, convicted, and executed at Nuremburg for the thousands of slave labor deaths he was responsible for at Penemünde if he had been less useful to the Fourth Reich in DC. Rumor has it that Josef Mengele was gainfully employed with MK Ultra at Montauk, Long Island when not commuting to Argentina. But our leaders for some obscure reason chose not to make him a national poster boy like von Braun.
Kerry: Hello Mr. Rouhani, We need to talk.
Rouhani: Hello?
Kerry: The action you've taken with regard to trade of goods and services with Russia, not using the U.S. Dollar is a serious action that you need to be aware of and it will have consequences!
Rouhani: Hello?
Kerry: Sir, we have drawn up a highly nuanced portfolio of sanctions that will show you the level of seriousness of the actions you have ...
Rouhani: Hello? What is going on here? I don't get anything. Please call back on a clear line.

Horseface to Putin, "This indiscretion will not stand, man!
bring it on!!!
He's great at shoving his socialist ideals onto the people of the US, at any cost, using his expertise at Chicago style, thug politics. He pretty much sucks at everything else. And he's supported by an inept NSA, CIA, State Dept., and a war torn Military. vs. These crazy people.

Aaaaaand just when you thought they couldn't get more stupid....what is the matter with these people? Is it really all about their lousy and infected gene pool? Oy vey...
Money is like incest, its best kept in the family.
What few, even here on ZH, understand is that this is not stupidity. The Global Cabal needs to bring down the USSA and the Dollar to install a global digital currency under the IMF SDR, which some might refer to as the Mark of the Beast. They also wish to dissociate their military, NATO, from any hint of accountability to any electorate. They will do this under the cover of selecting incompetent idiots such as Obumma, Cohn, and our first VP with an actual negative IQ (though Mr. Potatoes came close). The sheeple of the USSA are about to be under the bus staring up at a transmission.
A few years ago I'd have laughed at this. Suffice to say I'm not laughing now.
Exactly what can the limp wristed Prince do about this? It's got precisely FUCK ALL to do with the US.
Catastrophe or conspiracy, currency debasement kills empires every time.
If the US REALLLLLY wants to fuck Russia...I mean reallly give em a good hard fucking....we need to somehow get them to adopt Obamacare. That's a no lube jail cell style ass fucking.
here is a up 17trillion for that post, made my day!
One and Only, that was truely precious!
pssst. russia has universal healthcare as a constitutional right. would you prefer that instead?
Well you're giving me a choice. I choose neither. I would rather have a free market system.
Without central bank paper, fair trade with real money.. Nah isn't gonna happen, all that power, they are never gonna give it up and risk a real democracy.
Thinking about real democracy, not such a good idea either considering the ignorance and average IQ of the masses.. Just a fair dictator enabling a free market with a basic social system and a limit on the amount of private wealth that can be inherited, so one doesn't get to be born a rich ass snob and you can respect the rich you meet cause you know they have earned it themselves.
With all this bad news about the dollar, the dollar went up hard yesterday and has maintained its 'value' today.
Facts on the ground have no impact on the markets. It's all make believe to protect the criminal class.
market will be down today but come monday it will be up to record levels again, just watch.
that's why they release the bad news right on FRiday, hoping weekend will keep some heads cool (some Vodka always help..). This time, the ball has already started to roll. It starts with $20 billion...
The Fed, along with the PPT will arrive to save the day once again. BTW, who was that masked man? He left me a silver bullet that turned out to be aluminum.
The Fed, always wrong, but never in doubt.
what, you're in hurry or something? Give it a tad of time..
Historically speaking, collapse starts at the periphery and works its way inwards. The strength of the dollar is to be expected under those circumstances as money flees the periphery for what is perceived as the safer center. What matters is the perception of safety, not the reality per se. The reality check comes later, after the money has fled and has no where else to go.
Game over
End game first...let's watch the moves.
You see if the treasury coined money this wouldn't matter.
But the Banksterz are threatened.
Coining money is a direct threat to banksters.
The Crime of 1873 was committed because the comstock lode silver strike threatened to make silver dollars plentiful at a time when a lot of Americans were in debt up to their eyeballs.
+1
"In all calmness and deliberation I consider that the action of the international bankers in demonetizing silver and virtually destroying the purchasing power of over 800,000,000 people was one of the most brutal acts ever committed in history." ~ Senator William Borah, sometimes called “The Lion of Idaho”
in the New York Times, October 13, 1932
Ah, great job master "o" and congress! have you knuckle heads not pissed off enough countries already? or are you just that dumb to believe that idle threats make a difference in the trade policy between russia, iran, china, and the rest of the world?
caimen garou
Our "leaders" are kids-on-acid, run amuck. What has happened was bound to happen due to the amuck-kiddie activities of the 1960s
true, have been watching and stacking since the day nixion took us off the standard, i'm old now and never thought that I would see this country slowly eaten away by a terminal cancer.
Nixon's hand was forced. There was not enough gold in our reserves to back the outstanding currency (promissory notes). The problem was the Fed since its establishment in 1913.
This is no defense of Nixon; old hippies stand down.
.
Obama should hate the petrodollar. It causes unfair global income inequality.
We need more equality! Do away with the petrodollar!
Was the Russia-Iran barter deal reported or disseminated in the MSM? I get the feeling that this could one of those shot-heard-round-the-world type of moments that is being roundly ignored and not heard by the masses in the U.S.
Reuters had it.Didn't see it anywhere else except ZH.
Worldwide Generals, Colonels, and private corporate leaders, listen to me. Now is the perfect time to make your move against the globalists and the NWO before they steal you wealth and force martial law on our Nations.
We will come rejoicing bringing the thieves.
Um, a lot of the corporate leaders (multinationals, anyway) are completely in the globalist camp. That's what butters their bread.
Obama: "I'll...I'll....I'll hold my breath until my face turns blue!"
That's an impossibility, he'll die from asphyxiation first. But it is a wonderful thought.
Until his gums turn blue? !!!!
The US has warned Putin? Right, like Putin is going to be real scared (sarcastic). All I have to say is put your money, er, oil & gas, where your mouth is, Vlad. Let's get on with it and get this shitstorm going. I'm tired of watching this slow motion train wreck. The sooner it starts, the sooner the end will come, and we can start to rebuild a better nation, with no manipulation of PMs because it'll be the only real money.
A Shitstorm isn't to Putin's advantage.
He wants Ghawar shut down. Period. The Iranians could actually accomplish that.
Then oil will be sold TO EUROPE . . . for things useful in Russia. No, of course not gold. No use for it in Russia. Rather, he'll suggest Europe might want to send nursing home help to Russian nursing homes. Europe might want to send calories to Russia in return for oil.
Look up what Germany did to France after France surrendered.
"No, you will not pay in francs. There will be no francs. We are ending francs. You will ship something useful. No, not gold. It has no use for us. You will ship food. No, we will decide how much you keep to eat. You will ship food and we will be sure you get just enough to eat that provides you with just enough calories to ship us more. You don't have any other purpose in life than to feed Germans. Have a nice day."
During war, depression, etc, there are shortages. All things considered, the potential for some very bad stuff coming to America, is very real. If you can, stock up on food, fuel, drink, meds and supplies.
And have no illusion... This is being done to us, purposely, by banksters and politicians (for lobby money). Like the Germans, they'll say they didn't know but they do. We are very expendable.
The next war will not be like any war in the past where America was an island of it's own. We will see the chaos and fighting here too. If people aren't prepared by now they better start.
I've been planting like crazy the past few weeks. I just put a blackberry bush in the other day. I'm going to plant more rabbit food (lettuce) today. More corn goes in on Sunday. I'm planting in blocks of 4 8' rows each week. As each block gets to about 1' high, pole beans go in. Towards the end of next month, the squash goes in with it. I'll put melons, cucumbers in any empty beds or beds that have early crops that I've already harvested, such as beans and brassicas. Many of the varieties that I'm planting are already locally adapted, and I am breeding them to be even more so. No fertilizer. No pesticides. No products that require heavy industry. Just crop residue, compost, and well aged manure. I'm working towards being able to grow my own food with nothing more than a bucket and a stick if need be. Not that I won't use tools that make it a lot easier, but I don't want the requirement of tools and products produced by heavy industry.
3 sisters planting. nicely done!
~500 ft2 for just that. And I tend to eat a lot more hominy/flour corn than sweet corn. I'm planting one block of corn per week for two reasons:
1) Last year, we had freaky weather. Super hot and super dry, which really stressed one variety of corn, followed up a deluge which lodged the rest of it. I figure that by having the plantings spread out over time, if something bad happens, I can go back and replant if it happens early enough and I should have some mature corn if it happens late enough.
2) I'm planting several varieties that won't all mature at the same rate. I am not trying to keep the cultivars pure. I want them to cross breed.
That's awesome man, you're running wild. I have about 400sq ft, cukes, peppers, onions and tomatoes. Butternut squash and snow peas or Kentucky wonder bush types some years. I put in a 20' row of aspargus last year too, hope that takes off.
15 x 8 strawberry bed, that's a hodgepodge of everberries and Juneberries. 6 fruit trees. I was hoping to start a beehive this year, but honestly will probably wait now, should have had my hive built and I'm not going to make the date to give them enough time to establish I'm afraid.
We were super dry too this past year and had to water about every other day to keep it going.
I enjoy it. 15 years ago, if you had told me that I would enjoy this stuff, I probably would have called the loony bin and tried to have you committed. Go figure. I also have another 2500 ft2 of garden space for the other stuff, and I scored some chiltepin seeds yesterday that I need to keep away from the NM varieties of green/red chile so that they don't cross. It's basically wild chili peppers. (And yes, when talking about NM varieties of peppers, we do spell it chile rather than chili.) Peppers are actually a better source of vitamin c than many citrus fruits.
potatos, turnips, parsnips, carrots, onions. Energy dense stuff which will store for a while without electricity.
Potatos are in the ground and the turnips should be sprouting any day now. The corn, beans, squash and chile that I have planted or am planting were staples of the indians in my area prior to Europeans moving in. I figure that if it worked for them several hundred years ago, it can work for me, plus I can add some seasonal crops and some other crops to ensure variety. I also have some hardneck garlic that is doing quite well. I'm going to try to get it to go to true seed.
yeah depends on the conditions.
Got any flint on the property?
Nope. And I wouldn't know how to knap it anyway.
Learn To Trap Your Food
My square foot gardens provide leafy greens and vegetables. Mother nature provides the meat. I let Mother Nature raise them, feed them, cull the sick - and I harvest the free range, organic wild game by trapping.
No feed to meat conversion ratios, no veterinary expenses and I get to sleep while my traps work.
Mmmm opossum, its whats for dinner!
i was a hunter from age 7. my grandmother loved rabbit, squirrel, farmpond bream, deer. she asked me one time to get her a possum for her and the widow lady across the street because they both loved possum but i never did. sometimes that bothers me.
And remember, this time the supply chain has had all of the inefficiencies worked out. Everything is delivered "Just In Time".
Here Putin my friend, will you do inthemix96 and his country men a favour?
Would you and your lot pop over the channel and kill the 650 fucking criminal cunts, who if they are not raping school kids, fiddling and stealing from the tax payer, wrecking the economy, protecting fucking child rapists, guilty of massive inbreeding, and general evil, fucking the working bloke up the arse with no lube.
Oh, and while you're on, would you fuck up the house of fucking lords while you're on?
Face it my friend, not one of these children in suits has held a real job and would fucking shit themselves if you said 'Boo'.
Seriously, do it now.
;-)
You forgot Queenie.
Got me screaming ITM96!
LOL
The dollar is dead.
Love stinks doesn't it?
Sounds like the US bully is having a temper tantrum at not getting its own way all the time!
It is a good day to stock up, take inventory, and hunker down for the weekend.
I was just thinking that myself. If I could only pick up 2 million SPF sunblock at CVS......
Time to give up your oligarchiness and join the Global Insurrection Against Bankster Occupation.
We've got them jumping now.
Hide the salami ! quick. its exposed.
Actually this all came about because the US broke unwritten law #1, don't screw with the oligarchs of a super power. Their interests were protected in WWII and even the British were pissed when we targeted officers in the Revolutionary War.
Russia exports : 542 billion $... so if all of that is bought using rubles instead of US dollars, that might leave a mark.
Russia knows its ruble could leave the $ in rubble.
So now the question is: who blinks first?
OK Iran, you want to pursue nuclear weapons and start a nuclear war in the Mideast? Well, a slap on the wrist and trivial sanctions for you, wink, wink.
Wait Iran, you want to bypass the dollar for a transaction and threaten the Fed's Ponzi scheme? Kiss your a** goodbye.
Hey Bibi, wazzup, didn't know you hang around ZH....
Sure, nukes in the hands of the first nation that has promised to use them is a good thing, right?
Hey, Mahmood, good to see you here.
You're the only one promising that they will use them.
Good luck with sanctions:
Russian rocket engine export ban could halt US space programhttp://rt.com/news/russian-rocket-engine-ban-039/
That is not entirely correct.
Russia is currently installing a Russian made rocket up Obama's back side and when he is launched he will be doing laps of the planet earth as a reminder to those who like to push their luck as to how you can go too far.
Shoving things up Obama's ass isn't exactly a punishment.
The end of the dollar's supremacy might actually be the saviour of the USA. The exhorbitant privilege of the USA has done nothing but destroy the USA through gargantuan debts which have been piled up in malinvestments around war and unfunded promises.
The end of the dollar's reign will force the USA to recreate itself.
The only real problem is that the parasites who have fed off the nation and its people might have to find another host to feed off as the finance function will no longer enable them to accumulate wealth and strip all income from the more productive sectors.
Absolutely.....too many people living off the benefits of the petrodollar. Washington is the new Rome and Congress is fiddling..........(lots of those Congressmen/women could do a great Nero impersonation)......
it takes decades to get rid of the parasites. The UK still hasn't, 100 years later. Course we've been hanging on to the US coattails so maybe if that hadn't been possible we could have done a better job of stringing them up.
We'll have to hope the vision is shared by the militarized cops who serve the interests of the status quo who, I feel, will destroy anything and anyone before admitting defeat--no matter how obvious that defeat becomes.
Need State Department selfies now! #DontDumpDollars
They will probably hire Miley and her wrecking ball to run some helpful survival clips.

The WSJ's Barrons says oil is going to $75
May be a misprint, $750 far more likely.
It might go to $75, but it'll take the DJIA and S&P down with it. Oh and millions of unemployed.
A gallon?
Nice knowing you, King Dollar.
"The WSJ's Barrons says oil is going to $75"
I read that entire article in last Saturdays edition of Barrons. It was based on the premise of ultra-cheap NatGas offsetting some of our dependance on crude oil products. Seemed to be more aligned with hope than truth. There is no way we could put enough product out to satisfy Europe's needs and ours too. I think it was just a fluff article designed to keep the MoMo traders assured that they needed to keep trading and forget about the sanctions issue......
Mr Putin, consider yourself forewarned:
Obama is a dab-hand at ruining economies. I mean, he's done a hell of a hatchet job on America.
There are things we don't know we know, and things we know that we know we don't know, and things we wish we knew that we don't want to know because what we know is we know nothing and the whole darn moving-pictuyre-illusion is really nothing at all. The most horrid evils on earth are set loose and waring masks that fool everyone.

Let me simplify it for you.
If only we knew what we didn't know and only if we knew what we suspected, we would be instantly transformed into the peasants who stormed the Bastille.
fuck the u.s. fuck it fuck it fuck it pos satanic country fuck them
Well come right on over and say that out loud pussy. I hope you all enjoy sucking commie dick, you think the chi-knees will be kind masters? Out of the frying pan and into the fire... BTW the chi-knees have claims on Russian territory as well as Japanese so we'll see how that works out.
Commie? Welcome to 1955..
That same fight is still being fought. Labels mean shit, it's still those that would be masters trying to make those that would be free do their bidding.
All the balls are in play, trickery, propaganda, coersion, vanity, greed, carnal pleasures, suicide by nailgun.
It's all the same old shit. Choose you side and get busy stacking
It's not the same old shit.
Oil used to be infinite. Now it's not.
The only stacking that matters is barrels.
"If Washington can't stop this deal, it could serve as a signal to other countries that the United States won't risk major diplomatic disputes at the expense of the sanctions regime,"
With smoke still rising out of the Middle East and North Africa, and millions of men, women and children dead, this has to be the greatest line of the last 25 years
Its all business baby...all the time. Fiat ... when you have no backing.
Jesus, can we get some grown ups at the table? Yes Barry, I'm talking about you.
Driver left brake off and checked the rear for kids. The vehicle began rolling backwards and as he was trying to hold it back his shoe flipped off and he slipped under the bus, broke his spine and now has to use crutches with an umbrella attached for the cold pa rain.
Willie fix for the day! Gracias
Obama and the United States of America as we are today....FUCK YOU! THis is not what WE stand for. We need to stay OUT of other peoples business... NSA Fuck you too....who ever is reading this in the Colorado NORAD bunker, or in the Utah data collection center....you people need to pull a "Snowden" and let some more shit loose before this escalates any more.
Drinks on me
Checkmate.....your move, Obungler.
Obummer's reaction?
*struts around while shitting on board*
I new it all along, Obama is the Anti Christ.
He was selected to be the Fall Guy, but he's had a nice bunch of years for him and the family. I wonder if he knew it when picked.
I'm about 95% convinced Obama is actually a Chinese spy. There's no way anyone is that incompetant.
He's a spy from Kenya. Chinese spies aren't THISSSSSS baaaddddddd.
maybe if you could even spell incompetent I would be inclined to agree with you......
he cud edit the comment
If you set out with the sole purpose to destroy the country, it'd be impossible to do a better job than Bathhouse has done.
Obama can barely speak in complete sentences off-telepromptor, has never actually run anything, and listens to nobody.
Kerry is dumber than that catsup packet stuck to your shoe at McDonalds.
KGB Colonel Putin thinks 12 steps ahead.
I see 250 years of work by patriots going down the crapper.
It's already in the 4th or 5th trip around the bowl -- it began in earnest just over a hundred years ago.
