Russia Tells Ukraine It Won't "Accept" Force Against Demonstrators

Tyler Durden's picture

Ukraine may have drawn its own red line overnight by saying it will send "special forces" into the latest east Ukraine city captured by "pro-Russia separatists" as we just reported, but Russia wasted no time in explaining how it would deal with it. Bloomberg cites Russian foreign minister Lavrov who stated that, "Russia Won’t Accept Ukraine Force Versus Demonstrators."

Threats to use force against pro- Russian activists in southeast Ukraine are “unacceptable,” Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says in phone call today with Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Deshchytsia, Russian Foreign Ministry says in e-mailed statement. Lavrov added that he sees “no grounds” to accuse Russia of sending agents to destabilize situation in Ukraine.

From the Russian foreign ministry, google translated:

Telephone conversation by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine A.B.Deschitsey

April 12 at the initiative of the Ukrainian side had a telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine A.B.Deschitsey.

During the conversation A.B.Deschitsa tried to lay the responsibility for the deterioration of the situation in the South and South- East Ukraine on Russia. He argued that in these regions there are some Russian agents and allegedly some of them had already been arrested.

In response, Lavrov stated that there were no grounds for such assertions. He recalled that similar claims against Russia could be heard from Washington, but we have not been presented specific facts.

On the Russian side emphasized the responsibility of the present authorities in Kiev for preventing any use of force in the South and South- East of Ukraine. A.B.Deschitse indicated on the unacceptability of Kiev constantly sounding threats to storm buildings occupied by protesters in Donetsk and Lugansk. Lavrov urged the Ukrainian side to act peacefully , through dialogue , with full consideration of the legitimate demands of the South and South- East of Ukraine , including the direct involvement of these regions in the process of constitutional reform.

In response to questions regarding the prospects for A.B.Deschitsy quadripartite meeting of the Russia- US-EU -Ukraine Russian minister noted that the preparation of this event as part of the content and on the format and timing continues to be discussed between Moscow and Washington

Ball is in Kiev's court.

My dear imbeciles fellow Zero-Hedge,

Get it in your stupid head that Putin like Obama is a zionist agent.  Putin hates Russian people like Obama hates white Americans. All your fooking info comes from Zionist mass media.

Zionist US leaders and Putin both have problems in Ukraine: following collapse of the former Ukrainian government, Ukrainian nationalist movement gained lots of power. This is a nightmare for zionist oligarchy trying to ruin the white race all over world. This is the real reason why Obama is giving to Putin a military leverage in Ukraine. This is why Putin and Obama's administration are negotiating a deal of suppressing white nationalist movement in Ukraine. On another side, Putin understand that he alone cannot occupy 45-million strong Ukraine. Neither Hitler or even Stalin could not fully resolve this issue. Moving into Ukraine, Putin will be in no better position than Americans after moving into Afghanistan or Iraq.

Why does anybody even care what Russia thinks or does? Look at everything that has improved humanity over the last 100, 200, 1000 years. How much was Russian? Answer: Nothing. At some point, NATO will decide Russia no longer serves any benefit to the world. And then it will be destroyed.

The same logic applies to China. Zero value added.

Hey, I thought the Ukraine was denuded many years ago.  Does the Ukraine have bullets ?   Does Ukraine have serious 'backing' ?

Technically the West can always fall back on the Russian claim the Russians are 'defending' the Ukraine from a Kiev takover.

This is pure facia and Kiev Kabuki, supported by East and West, and Kiev.   It is a rare win-win-win without bullets.

All three are just deciding who wants to handle the deal.

Back when the Wall fell West Germany had to swallow their deal with East Germany and assume the Eastern debts (too).

first, Putin did not change his tune as he never stated that military force was not an option. from he start he stated clearly and repeatedly that he would use the military to protect ethnic Russians and the Russian Duma authorized such action back at the beginning of the Ukraine crises.

second, the Ukraine is right on Russia's front door so it is both natural and reasonable that Moscow would have a vested interest in what happens there, an unstable, chaotic and western puppet Ukraine is a direct threat to Russian national security.

but I would think that goes without saying.

Syria on the other hand is thousands of miles away from DC and of no consequence to the safety and security of the US, in fact a stable Syria run by the secular Assad regime who did not tolerate Muslim extremism was in the best interest of the US and the MENA. so DC has incurred more risk by supporting these terrorists and interfering where it has no cause or logical reason to.

your comparison between the two is faulty and makes no sense.

let's also on forget this whole thing started with the violent overthrow of the democratically elected president, an overthrow with the US state department was proven to have a played a central roll in.

last this is not about Putin, this is about calling your own government out on it's bullshit, Washington is killing innocent people every day all over the world all in the name democracy and freedom and if this insane freak show is not brought to bay by it's own people, then somebody else will have to do it sooner or later.

but you will not see that apparently, not until it's to late which it may already be.

Sat, 04/12/2014 - 13:26 | 4651338 marcusfenix
marcusfenix's picture

but it can have an effect, the fact that the bombing of Syria after the alleged chemical attack had zero public support had a part to play in Obama punting the issue to congress, it gave our service men the opportunity to launch there "I didn't sing up for this campaign". it defiantly played a part in averting what would have been a tragic "humanitarian kinetic military intervention".

you, me we can make a difference, we do even if only by talking to others about these things, by making them aware of Washington's lies and corruption because so many are not.  so many Americans are not only clueless, but worse still, supportive of there own destruction once you point that out to people and really get them to listen, the light goes on.

and that's something.

now maybe if we can get enough people to understand why the Ukraine is important and the potentially dire consequences of Washington's continuing actions there as well as in Syria maybe there still is a chance we can have some effect on what happens next.

because that is what concerns me, that is what may effect us all.

I sense you feel the world should acknowledge Putin's trump card as one which shall last for all time.

Every thinking person knows Putin currently holds the strong hand. As in any strategic game, once those strong cards are played, what is he going to draw from the deck?

We all see his hand. This PR game is all about getting him to play his cards. Putin knows this and his only strategy is to play those cards at the most opportune time.

I don't think now is that time.

Beat your chest and rally behind Putin. I don't expect he will play those cards. Will you be disappointed?

Sat, 04/12/2014 - 13:10 | 4651284 marcusfenix
marcusfenix's picture

I am not a citizen of the Russian federation, my concern has nothing to do with beating my chest and rallying behind Putin that's for Russians to do (or not) depending on their own personal point of view.

my concern is how Washington is continually railroading any possibility of a political solution to this crises all while claiming to be striving for exactly the same. NATO is starting to sound like a broken record, basically trying to order Russia to withdraw it's troops from it's own borders and inside it's own country before any they can be "taken seriously" in any talks. Kerry has said as much dozens of times since this whole thing started. yet even our own MSM, CNN to be exact, sent a crew along the entire 1,200 mile border between the Ukraine and Russia (on the Russian side) and found zero evidence of this alleged mass invasion force. so either we are being lied to once again like Iraq, Syria, Libya ect. or Russia intentionally kept 40,000 troops, armor, artillery and military aircraft oscar mike so CNN couldn't find them or any evidence of there existence.

as far Putin playing his cards, I have no idea what he will do, I only know what he has said he will do and I have no reason he doubt that he will send in the military if  the opportunity and need arises. as I stated in my comment it is reasonable and natural that Russia has a vested interest in what happens on their own front door.

"will you be disappointed?" I would be happy to answer that question if you could be a little more specific, disappointed in what?

Putin doesn't make idle threats.  If the Ukraine fascists and Blackwater start killing lots of ethnic Russians, then the Russian army goes in.  Blackwater and the Ukraine Fascist Army would last about a New York minute.  Then the question is what will the idiots in DC do with NATO forces, even though Ukraine is not a part of NATO.  If the morons send in NATO, there is no way it can succeed in Russia's back yard, so it is tactical nuke time which of course will devolve to global thermonuclear war in hours.  Meanwhile, the elites will be sipping single malt in their DUMB's (Deep Underground Military Bases).  When the top politicians and bankers disappear from live television, it is time to kiss your ass goodbye.

In the interest of accuracy:

Some critics made little or no distinction between Pussy Riot and Voina, incorrectly attributing past actions of Voina to Pussy Riot. In particular, a notorious performance by Voina in St. Petersburg, in which a woman stole a chicken from a supermarket by stuffing it in her vagina, is sometimes cited by detractors of Pussy Riot. However, there is no evidence that members of Moscow-based Pussy Riot participated in this action.[153]

I have no doubt that Russia isn't the most welcoming place if you are LGBT, but neither is much of America.  The NBC reporting was overdramatic to make it look like Putin and Russia were living in the dark ages when LGBT rights in America weren't championed until about 10 years ago.  US hypocrisy sanctioned by MSM.

Humans will always wage war,

regardless of the ethnicity of the strongest mafia.

Ridding the World of Khazars simply means, Khazars will no longer wage wars.

The New Mafia, same as the Old Mafia.

People passionate about their countries are not to be fecked with. Look at what happened in Vietnam. Despite overwhelming superior military power, the USSA got their asses kicked. Now this is Russia who have far more advanced technology than the USSA.

"Those who have not transcended the Tribal Mentality are destined to live it."

And those who have are destined to be set upon by some tribe or another, thus creating a new tribal identity.

Pussy Riot, for example.

I'm highly suspicious of anyone who claims to have "transcended."

By what objective criteria do you make that claim?

All I see is yet another tribe.

"Russia Won’t Accept Ukraine Force Versus Demonstrators." Threats to use force against pro- Russian activists in southeast Ukraine are “unacceptable,” Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says in phone call today with Ukrainian counterpart Andriy Deshchytsia, Russian Foreign Ministry says in e-mailed statement. "

"President Obama said Wednesday that the Ukrainian government would face "consequences" if it crosses the line in cracking down on protesters in Kiev...Obama added of the consequences: "And that includes making sure the Ukrainian military does not step into what should be a set of issues that can be resolved by civilians." WP February 19

It seems that USA and Russia employ the same group of spin doctors. It is a way to save taxpayers money in this time of financial crisis.

We’re told now that the chants and accusations coming from the protesters in eastern Ukraine, once directed to the coup in Kiev, now have one common target: NATO.

They’ve got it right: NATO is the arm of the globalists.

And the globalists – the Fed/IMF international oligarchs – are preparing for the final wealth grab of the world’s resources – a global tax.

The capture of Ukraine and the crippling of Russia by the EU-connected banker cabal is a vital component of its multilateral financial system in this final reach for power.

Alex Newman in his recent article entitled A New World Tax Regime writes in The New American that the IMF and UN are at the center of this power grab.

“A coalition of governments and brutal dictatorships known as the Group of 20 (G-20) is in the process of building what virtually every major ‘mainstream’ media outlet recently described as a “New World Order,” with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and UN at its center..

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) — a 34-member (presently) international economic organization that works to influence world financial operations — openly announced plans to advance the longtime socialist-backed dream of a planetary taxation regime.

Writes Newsman:

“Over 40 governments, which the Paris-based OECD misleadingly refers to as “countries,” have already committed to the controversial scheme. In a “joint statement,” participating governments celebrated the planetary plot, implying that it was only being instituted to catch tax cheats. ‘Tax evasion is a global problem and requires a global solution,’ said representatives from dozens of governments, including more than a few run by self-described socialists. “We therefore strongly support the development of the single global standard for automatic exchange of information between tax authorities.’ …

“In mid-February, in fact, the OECD officially unveiled its plan informally called GATCA (Global Account Tax Compliance Act)…”

The final solution of the collectivist dream, of course, is world governance.

All I see is, one tax collector trying to take the tax farm from another tax collector.

Russia is a tax collector and Ukraine is a Tax collector.

No matter who wins, the people lose, and most of the people wont even know it.

Government policy has always been to take as much as you can from the people while keeping them from rebelling, doesn't matter what "government" does it, its all the same.

Snowden? To Imperial DC that says sharpen its game. Iraq and Afghanistan didn't go according to plan? That says more proxies, more private mercs.

The problem is proxies and private mercs are more unstable, have more unintended consequences than government mercs.

In trying to guage what the potential for a bad situation to grow desperate, this news is what I was looking to see. Would Russia stand by and let the coup government of NATO in Kiev work it's will across all of Ukraine. Well, the jury is now in, "No, they will not".

I am amazed to read the American press and the European press, and many posters here as well, speak as if they personally own Ukraine now after the coup, and all people's must bow down to a revolution that nobody cast a vote for. No, America does not own Ukraine yet! Believe it, because that is a fact, and Putin is sending plenty of signals he will work with the west to defuse this thing, but only if the west gives a great deal toward Russian Ukrainain autonomy. Is that so hard to take NATO? A few cities and a little land votes if they want out of Ukraine? If they vote to stay, then NATO wins, if they vote to leave then the people win. What do they win. They win freedom from the IMF and all the banker cunts in Brussels. They win freedom from a economic collapse and debt slavery in Ukraine. Joing their countrymen in Russia raises their economic future by orders of magnitude over West, bankrupt hell hole, Ukraine.

Get a grip all you arm chair warriors and draft dodgers. YOU, do not decided the fate of East Ukrainians. Too fucking bad for you. I am shedding all kinds of tears for your imperial dreams.

Once again, the Russian stance on events in Ukraine appear reasonable and measured.

I see no champing at the bit in Moscow to send in military hardware to seize control and annex East Ukraine - even though it may come to that.

All the mouthing and provocation is coming from the West's make-believe puppet government in Kiev.

Is Lavrov trying to tell me that it's not a lipoma on my forehead, but an implant that checks my testosterone level, and that I am part of a massive covert human experiment? It's a possibility. You really have to question everything to understand the truth.
