The Rise Of The Fatty

Tyler Durden's picture

For all the talk about QE this, HFT that, crony capitalism, cold war 2.0, hyperinflation, hyperdeflation, social inequality, Keynesian dead end, global financial meltdown, perhaps the one more tangible threats to mankind as a whole (and to the future underfunded healthcare costs) is something fatr simpler: the rise of the fatty.

Below we present a candied look via Nature of, pardon the pun, society at large, and just why is it that those cuddly, jovial fat people, which seems to be growing exponentially in recent years, present a great danger not only to themselves, but to just as exponentially growing welfare costs in a world which already is, for all intents and purposes, insolvent (unless of course someone in charge gets a Swiftian idea to let the world's obese deal with their own problems just the way Charles Darwin suggested they should).

They are everywhere.

They don't fit on the scale.

A lot of their problems can be explained by the surge in cheap, hollow calories.

But the bottom line is they are a danger: to themselves, and to those others who will be tasked to pay for their care.

There has to be some interaction between the metabolism of some individuals and the manufactured "food" that is so plentiful in the developed world.  Not everybody gets fat or stays fat.  Some of us must be more susceptible to it than others.  But far too much of what we put in our mouths simply isn't food.  It's been designed and tweaked and treated, and has synthetic approximations of nutrients and food ingredients added to it, and our bodies don't know what to do with it so we store it as fat.  Some people seem to have their brain chemistry addled by it, to the point they can't tell when they're full and they're never satisfied.  Then it rewires the way their organs and endocrine system work in fundamental ways.

Making things worse, this manufactured non-food is cheaper than actual food, and doesn't require preparation.  This appeals particularly to the poor, who can't afford the money or the time (or at least, they don't think they can) to buy and prepare actual food.  If you know what you're doing and plan ahead, you can eat very well indeed for not much money, but that requires that you can spend an hour making meals.  Too many people don't know how to prepare food anymore.  Look at a mass-market cookbook now.  It's all about opening cans of (heavily salted, full of corn syrup) food and heating it up.  Then there's the time involved. People working multiple low-wage jobs don't get time to make or eat decent meals.

I'm fortunate because I grew up poor when actual food was cheaper than the processed stuff, so I had to learn how to cook.  As I get older, I find my stomach can't handle all the salt and sugar of processed foods anyway.  If I drink a Coke, I get heartburn before it's half gone.  Same goes for large portions of desserts.  I'm lucky that way.  I must not have the same genetic susceptibility as these people who get up over 400 pounds.  They must be physically miserable all the time, not to mention being gravely ill.

I also wonder if our non-food has something to do with the explosion of autism.  Here in Minneapolis, we have a lot of recent Somali immigrants. Their kids are autistic at a rate wildly more frequent than anyone else. Until recently, none of them had ever encountered processed food, or plastics.  I hope somebody is researching this.

Excellent points.

I'd only disagree with your suggestion that working multiple jobs prevents people from cooking and eating well.  It's quite easy to make things that last through the week.  Baking some fish or chicken and steaming some veggies simply isn't complicated.   This has become a lazy culture in so many ways.

That's true enough.  I'm astonished by how many people simply don't know how to make meals from food.

glucose-fructose actively suppresses the signals your body sends to the brain to tell you that you are full, so you feel hungry and keep eating when you shouldn't.

Artificial sweeteners mess up your body, since your taste buds send signals to your brain to indicate sweet stuff is going in, then your body releases insulin but there is no sugar going into the blood stream.

If you are deficient in any nutrients, you feel hungry and keep eating, as your body tries to get whatever it needs, and just stores away the excess calories along the way.

A big part of the problem is, that once you are in bad shape, which took years, it will take years to get back.

Tue, 04/22/2014 - 21:14 | 4685027 Bemused Observer
Bemused Observer's picture

People are different, everyone reacts to things in their own way. With the over-eating, I think that is just the way a particular person's body handles that. Most people stop eating when they feel the 'stomach full' sensation. They may still be 'hungry', in that they haven't consumed anything nutritious, but that full stomach will stop them from continuing. They may feel chronically run-down all the time, but won't eat past "full".

Others though may have a stronger tendency to go for nutrients, even if they are physically full. they get the nutrients, but they also get massive extra calories. The stomach is stretchable, and if you always eat past 'full', it gets larger, meaning you need more next time to even get to 'full'.

There has also been a large increase in so-called eating disorders, including pica. It seems obvious to me that these, especially pica, are about nutrient-searching and not just eating.

As to autism, I have long believed it is a defensive response to a hyper-stimulated environment. That stimulation starts in the womb, and as the baby develops, it senses and responds to what is going on outside. Autism would be a very effective way for a sensitive mind to 'shut out' excess stimuli, the developing brain could react defensively to what it senses is an overly busy world. It could very well be a coping mechanism, used by an ultra-sensitive brain as protection from the chaos.

But just like Calhoun's rats, the changes are permanent for that individual, so we have no 'cure'. Once the brain develops and adapts into a noxious environment, there is no going back. In fact, the "Beautiful Ones" in Calhoun's experiments demonstrate classic autistic behaviors.

......................

Lab animals and pets face obesity epidemic

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/httpwwwnaturecomnews2010101124... Nov 24, 2010

Animals in human care are fatter than they were 20 years ago.

..................................

I looked up the scientific paper on which this story was based.  It was imho solid, extensive and impressively documented.  To the best of my recollection it reported data over previous 20, 30 years showing substantial increases in both average weight and prevalence of obesity in:

*  US human populations.

* European human populations.

*  US domestic cats

*  US domestic dogs

*  European horses

*  US urban feral cats

*  US suburban feral cats

*  US urban wild rats

*  US suburban wild rats

*  US laboratry rats

...................

I searched on Google News and Yahoo News for evidence that anyone had covered this story.  Nothing.

Then I wrote every science editor I could find.

A month later I searched again.  Still no one had covered it.

......................

What am I missing?

Why is it not obvious to me that the laboratory rats have lost their self control and are overindulging themselves?

Or that European horses are making bad food choices?

Or then again, maybe I just woke up on the wrong planet?

No doubt GMO and shit like that have contributed to weight gain.

But the biggest factor is simply opulence. It's always been that way.

Food, like porn or dope, is addictive to those that seek comfort externally.

Eating well past satiety is not a response to spiked blood sugars. It's the sign of a demented and troubled, gluttonous mind.

Medicine has not helped as it has fostered this slobbery with numerous way to "manage" your  type 2 diabetes.

In other words, your toes and eyesight can still be useable for a little while longer as you continue to stuff your fat face.

It is not an epidemic of gluttony. It is a result of over-processed, poor quality food. Like the crap Americans have been eating for decades.

It's the calories that make you fat, and the food has plenty of calories. But it lacks real nutrition, so even after stuffing one's face, one's body is still not satisfied. A lot of people just give up when they're full, but a lot may feel a need to keep eating (nutrient-hunger) even though they end up with an excess of calories.

A lot of the people you see today who are obese would not be if what they WERE eating actually nourished those big bodies.

Russia labels GMO Foods as “Biological Warfare Weapon”

With nearly 35% of the American people reported to be obese and a further 20% being reported as having a mental illness, the “extreme correlation” between these health epidemics and the rise of GMO foods can no longer be ignored…but by the Obama regime not only ignoring them, and actually protecting GMO corporations…it is “logical to assume” that these peoples are undergoing what is, perhaps, the largest bio-warfare experiment ever conducted in human history.

And to further note, the United States, unlike some 60 other countries, lacks a legal requirement to label GMO’s despite a recent New York Times poll that found that 93% of Americans want GMO food to be labeled, all of which leads to the question…WHY?

I was on my way to land whale status until I looked down in the shower one day and was shocked into action.

Like others have mentioned, I eliminated sugar and wheat. I also started exercising too. My friend did the same thing and dropped 70lbs. I dropped about 40lbs and got my BMI down to normal.

The best part is meeting former jocks from my high school. They're sporting the guts, and I'm the buff one now with all of us pushing 50.

When I go to the grocery store, I buy nothing but vegetables and meat. I drink only water. I make a hobby of looking at what the obese folks have in their carts. Sodas, processed crap and general junk are what they buy. Sugar addicts are pretty much what they are.

I've also noticed how fat the teens are today versus how we looked liked 30 odd years ago. When you add in the normal middle aged spread, what are these kids going to look like at age 45?

I've got the same hobby. I can't believe the poison I see in other peoples shopping carts. I changed my eating habits and have fixed my acid reflux. No processed crap, no sugar. I tried giving up bread for a while but all I could do is cut out the white and go with occasional whole wheat. I should give that up too though.

I totally agree Bogdog. Also, my acid reflux disappeared too.

People who come to my house complain about me only having water to drink. I always tell them water or whiskey take your pick. Even when I go out to eat, I only go out to places that offer high quality foods. It might cost me more up front, but I'll do anything to avoid post Obamacare "medicine".

I also forgot to mention Obamacare was another motivator for me to take charge of my health. That's the only benefit Obamacare gave me. I will do whatever it takes to avoid this politically bastardized medical system. So far, I am so much healthier by adopting this regimen.

One can cheat on rare occasion, but folks become obese by chronically making poor dietary choices which is easy to do. I've read that diet is 80% of the problem and exercise is only the other 20%.

I also dropped my weight very slowly on purpose. My friend that lost his weight did it rapidly. I have no skin folds, and he does. I don't know if that was it, or my skin is just better at taking it.

Hmmm, I just finished reading all the comments on this, and I will just say that I am disappointed. Not surprised, unfortunately, just disappointed.

I'm no "PC' type, and will laugh at a good "fat joke" without undue guilt. But too many of these comments go beyond the good-natured ribbing, and have crossed over into nasty territory.

 The majority of obese people have gotten to that condition because of situations beyond their own personal control. Some have metabolic conditions, some have physical limitations that make exercise impossible. Some are overweight because of medications they have to take for another serious illness, etc. Of COURSE there are those who are just ridiculous, and have done it to themselves. But you don't, and CAN'T, ever know just who is who. So, why not give them a break?

 And to the one who said he/she was an EMT, I believe? I just want to tell you that you are in the wrong field...You said you got into it to "help people". Well, it is people like that who NEED your help, and if you are too disgusted or annoyed to do so, then you are not the right person for that job. And, if you are called upon to lift such a person, it is up to YOU to demand that your employer provide you with either the staff, or the equipment, to do so safely, without wrenching your back. And to refuse to lift without proper assistance. That heavy-ass patient did NOT get so large just to mess with you, and isn't trying to hurt you. In fact, EVERY SINGLE overweight patient I have had in my career has expressed concern during transporting about staff hurting themselves. They know they are big.

You won't see me there...I know better than to try and lift a 350 pounder! Either I get a hoyer, or sufficient staff to safely transfer, or that 350 pounder is staying right where he is. And I have put my money where my mouth is numerous times, have butted heads with plenty of supervisors who tried the old, "But it's your JOB.." bs. Wrong. My JOB is to keep my patients safe, it is also to look out for the safety of those staff working under me. It is NOT to get the job done with whatever management decides to give me that day. I have always gotten what I need in the end, because I do NOT take "No" for an answer.

Response time is of course quicker around the time of the JCAHO visitation, but at those other times I have found that inserting the term "Ombudsman" into my re-requests has done the trick.

I'm sorry about your relatives. But even skinny, fit relatives can be jerks, as I can tell you from my own experience. If we traded families for a week, at the end you'd be so glad to see those "fat fux" back you'd happily take them all out for cheeseburgers...you'd even grab hold of that belly flab and help them with those insulin shots...

Yes, BO some folks do have metabolic conditions, but they are few and far between.

My friend's mother is Swiss and went to Europe to see her family recently. She told me how few fat people she saw over there compared to here.

I fixed my personal situation by taking control of my life and refusing to eat processed food. The majority of obese people I've ever seen eat massive amounts of carbs be it french fries, soda, sugar or whatever.

They seem to be food addicts who eat massive amounts of food. They do it to themselves. I know I did it to myself.

I'm still a big guy. People under estimate my weight by 20 to 30 lbs. I've become lean with very little fat since I've changed my lifestyle. My doctor is satisfied too.

Yeah, and you're mistaken. My sister lost her career and had three operations to her spine from having to deal with this sort of bullshit on duty at the ER in her hospital. 6 years of expensive schooling followed by five years on the job, and one badly equipped, understaffed Tenant Healthcare hospital. Tenant was/is too cheap to put legally required lifts in specifically designed to handle obese people. They spent two more years trying to evade responsibility for the damage done to their employee. They  still haven't fixed the problem, and the staff there still have to blow up their own bodies dealing with the vast number of morbidly obese that show up every day.

You're right, of course-some folks can't help what happens to them. But that has been the case for a long time. If you can't exercise, go on a diet. Why in the hell should lazy bastards who refuse to educate themselves about what and how to eat be defended for consuming enough food to feed another entire family? This epidemic of fatness is the result of one thing - the lazy good for nothing worship of television and convenience. Our ancestors would line many of us up and shoot us as useless weights on society.

Jamestown rules-you want to eat? Work. Get off your fat lazy ass and produce something useful to the rest of society - because your medical bills are a disaster for everyone. and other people actually need the food.

You say I'm mistaken, but then go on to say exactly what I said!

Your sister wasn't injured by "fat people", she was injured by a cheap employer who didn't give a damn. Your anger ought to be directed towards THEM, not the obese!

Yet your anger at them remains...why?

I'm not trying to start a fight here, I am simply trying to get people to THINK about stuff instead of just reacting. We have an epidemic in this country, and it is an epidemic of mindless rage at everyone and everything. In most cases, it is misdirected anger, like the guy who has a bad day at work, then goes home and beats the wife, kicks the dog because he cannot take out his anger at the one responsible. He may convince himself that the wife is a bitch and the dog is a useless eater, but the fact remains that it is his BOSS that has wronged him, not his family and pet.

While there is no doubt an increasing percentage of obese people, using BMI to determine who is obese is idiotic. Going by that, almost every single major pro athlete is overweight and some super fit athletes counting as obese. The same for hardcore weightlifters who are mainly all muscle. Hell, I'm closing in on the line to be considered oevrweight and I'm only 175 pounds and am 6 feet.

Obesity occurs over a period of time, is hard to combat, the bottom line, it detracts from the quality of life and there is no fun in being truly fat. I'm not particularly interested in saving the obese from themselves but I'm very concerned about the costs that the obese impose on others through higher health insurance rates, and for the taxpayers who pay for Medicaid, Medicare, and social security disability benefits.

Obesity is a huge problem and growing larger, it already cost America over $190 billion a year. Obesity accounts for about 21% of the amount spent on medical services and is set to rise. More on this huge and growing problem in the article below.

Combine the profit from disease system with the profit from junk food system, and there is a very well-greased slippery slope of privatized profits and socialized losses. Furthermore, look at subsidization systems and one will see another aspect of the general Bizarro Mirror World that we live in, that there tends to be a strong correlation between how unhealthy some "food" stuff is, and how much it is subsidized, while the most healthy foods are subsidized the least. The greatest historical example was how black slavery subsidized white sugar, which really has not ended, but merely become more sophisticated, the same as all other forms of social slavery have not really stopped, but only become much more systematic and sophisticated in the ways that they still operate.

The same basic mechanisms of the funding of the political processes are behind all of that. The privatization of the profits, into the hands of a few, along with socialization of the losses, distributed on everyone else, results in a runaway vicious spiral whereby those who make the most money from corrupting the government are then enabled to use some of that profit by continuing to corrupt the government even more so.

The biggest problem is that there are NO practical ways to fix that runaway crazy corruption, due to special interest groups driving the government into a vicious spiral of the profit from fraud, being reinvested in more fraud. Its SOURCE can be traced back to the way that the monetary system was originally perverted, from real money backed by gold and silver, whose value was set by Congress, to the public "money" supply being almost totally made out of nothing as debts by private banks. From that SOURCE, all of the corporations that grew up around that became runaway legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, which were driven into feedback mechanism of privatized profits from corrupt laws enabling those who thereby benefited to be even more able to dominate the funding of politics, and thereby make sure that more laws would become even more corrupt.

THE FISH ROTS FROM THE HEAD. The globalized, fundamentally fraudulent financial systems drive runaway economic distortions, which, by their very nature, automatically get worse, faster, while nothing outside of that could effectively compete with the entrenched corruption. Within that system, where the monetary system has already become more than 99% corrupted, and therefore, democracy has already been more than 99% destroyed, of course all the governmental laws and regulations, and the pattern of government subsidies, are as BACKWARDS as they could possibly be from the point of view of the overall health of society as a whole.

To put the food supply in proper context, one has to recognize that the single best plant source of protein and oil is hemp seeds. However, the huge lies that "marijuana is almost as bad as murder" resulted in completely criminalizing the cultivation of cannabis. THAT is the context in which one should understand the obesity epidemic! Our food supply, and nutritional and medical advice, as presented by the mainstream, funded and regulated by government agencies, is already insanely corrupt, while things like Codex Alimentarius is going to make that still get way worse in the foreseeable future.

That hemp should be food, first and foremost, because hemp seeds are, by far, the best plant source of protein and oil, is the kind of factual perspective that one should consider when looking at the general pattern of the profit from disease and profit from junk food systems, both of which take every evil advantage of the weaknesses of people, to maximize their sickness and suffering, for the benefit of those who profit from junk food, and profit from disease. In that overall context, pot prohibition is merely the single simplest symbol and the most extreme particular example of the general pattern of social facts.

The people who make the most money not only can then pay the most to corrupt the politicians, to drive vicious spirals, they also can pay the most to advertisers, who apply scientific methods to brainwash people to believe in bullshit, and enable them to live in a fantasy culture. IN FACT, OUR CIVILIZATION IS ALMOST TOTALLY DOMINATED BY HUGE LIES, BACKED BY LOTS OF VIOLENCE, WHICH ARE CAUSING ENORMOUS SUFFERING, AS PEOPLE GET SLOWLY TORTURED TO DEATH WITHIN THAT CONTEXT.

To understand the diets that people have, one should start with the recognition that HEMP IS THE SINGLE BEST PLANT FOR FOOD, but cannabis cultivation was completely criminalized, on the basis of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, for decade after decade, without any of the facts and logical arguments regarding HEMP TRUTH ever making any difference to that runaway social insanity. Just multiply that symbolic example by many orders of magnitude, and one approaches the overall real condition that our civilization is in, where the runaway triumphs of ENFORCED FRAUDS, and triumphant brainwashing of people to believe in bullshit, overwhelmingly dominates everything!

A relatively small group of individuals change their personal habits for the better. However, the overall social systems are automatically become sicker and more insane, due to the root cause, which is the funding of the political processes, which enables the vicious spirals of the people who are the best at deceits having the most influence to control the government, which controls the culture. The bankers are now the FRAUD KINGS, and through them, and the corporations that grew up around them, everything that the globalized civilization that they dominate does, have all become based on ENFORCED FRAUDS, which have penetrated deep into the way people think and behave, so that the profit from junk food, and profit from disease systems, are able to overwhelmingly dominate our civilization, while those few individuals who attempt to resist that face every possible disadvantage when trying to do that.

Their deep disadvantages include that those groups of people who tend to oppose the profit from junk food and profit from disease systems tend to still be relatively superficial in their understanding of those problems. As with every other aspect of our society, the people who are against the entrenched profit from junk food and disease systems tend to be a controlled opposition, or reactionary revolutionaries, who do not think more deeply and systematically about these problems as whole, and how and why they developed. Instead, most of the opposition tends to fail to go beyond thinking about one, or a few related issues. Almost never does the "opposition" get to systematically comprehending these problems as a whole. (Certainly, the mainstream morons who dominate the "legalize marijuana" movements exemplify that pattern, as is found throughout those who oppose particular aspects of the profit from junk food and profit from disease systems.)

Always, our ACTUAL political economy, as well as the ACTUAL human ecology it operates inside, had a thorough history which developed them to be done through maintaining the maximum frauds and deceits about themselves. In my opinion, the vast majority of the tiny minority of the people who come to understand the ways that the profit from junk food and profit from disease systems really work do not want to understand the bigger picture regarding those topics. In particular, I have no doubt whatsoever that the vast majority of the mainstream morons in the "legalize marijuana" movements do not want to understand the monetary and taxation systems, and do not want to understand how and why the funding of the political process has systematically corrupted everything to become almost completely crazy.

Not only is our civilization as a whole developing runaway sicknesses and insanities, which are all headed towards record breaking levels, because all those problems are regarded through the blinders of evil deliberate ignorance, whereby "scientific rationality" becomes mostly an illusion to justify even more profit from junk food and disease, but also, the controlled opposition of reactionary revolutionaries, who assert that they are against those systems, tend to be also stuck in the same frame of reference, regarding their inability to face the facts about the chronic political problems which are inherent in the nature of life.

Our civilization has resolved its necessarily chronic political problems inherent in the nature of life by developing the maximum possible frauds and deceits. Inside of that context, the controlled opposition groups to those established systems tend to also continue to maintain the same basic attitudes of evil deliberate ignorance towards the real nature of those problems, which continues to make any better resolution of those problems be practically impossible, because just as the "opposition" to the banksters' monetary system is dominated by reactionary revolutionaries, the "opposition" to the profit from junk food and disease systems are also dominated by similar kinds of reactionary revolutionaries.

Meanwhile, all of the resulting social statistics regarding these kinds of problems are still on exponential growth curves, towards accumulating systemically converging disasters, which currently can barely be comprehended, due to their collective magnitudes going off the scale of anything that ever happened before in known human history.

+1.  Hemp products are economically viable and do not require the relatively large cost inputs to produce such as corn.  Costs would occur upon harvest.  It would be nice if "they" would let us try for once.  People just don't seem to get it.  You don't get high off hemp.  You farm hemp and produce strong natural fibers or oils.

Actually, in at least one of my posts here I explain that there ARE those cases where it is self-induced. But those cases ought not to direct our opinions on all of them.

Curiously, a poster here quoted Marcus Aurelius. As a Stoic, he followed the teachings of Epictetus, who stressed the importance of examining and questioning our 'impressions' of things. We are not supposed to simply go along with the first thing that sounds good, or goes along with our own preconceived notions...

" Animals, like humans, use their impressions of the world in that their behavior is guided by what they perceive their circumstances to be. But human beings also examine the content of their impressions to determine whether they are true or false; we have the faculty of “assent”"...

We aren't supposed to be like animals. We're supposed to THINK, use our reasoning and judgement to question ourselves instead of just going with the first emotion that strikes us. Yes, we might feel angry about something, but we need to examine our conscience and ask if that anger is justified by the facts. If it is not, it should be discarded.

You eat crap, you take on too many calories, you don't feel like exercising or just going for a walk, what to do, feel like eating more crap, now I'm even bigger and less likely to get of my arse and my knees hurt, so what to do, I know, I'll eat even more crap....and on and on and on, junk food is an addiction, sugar is an addiction and junk food slows your metabolism down so you have less energy and more fat to lug around, feel sorry for the guy, he did not consciously decide to end up like this any more than a heavy smoker consciously decides to get lung cancer or emphysema.

Its easy to dump on the guy, you really think he would let himself get to this point if he had any control, he needs help.

controlling when you eat & what, and how much, is a basic action of survival. I can't even comprehend a person unable to do this. I simply consider those people stupid as all-fuck.

Almost all American wheat is sprayed with Roundup a few days before harvest, not in order to kill weeds, but in order to dry it out for harvesting.  Many other crops are sprayed just before harvest with Roundup for the same reason.  If you don't buy organic wheat, you are eating Roundup.  Many people who think they have a problem with wheat, actually have a problem with Roundup:  this is a likely cause of the increasing number of people who think they are gluten intolerant.

Not only that, but the natural drying process allows for some very slight fermentation.  A lot of times, crops are dried in a furnace.

BTW, I've been planting 4 8' rows of corn like clockwork on Sundays since March 30.  The third block had its first two green shoots today.  My garden is better than Europe.

Shake'n bake meth, while illegal, is readily avaliable, or at least the supplies to make it are.  This disproves your theory.  But yeah, we could put people on the Jenny Crank diet, and it would be quite effective.  No fat.  No dirt on the floors.  No teeth.

we have several overweight ppl at my work place and all they talk about is what restaurant they last ate at.

I am surprised that they are not embarrassed to be talking about food all the time when they have this huge weight problem.

It is like they are not even ashamed of being over weight.

I find it kind of strange.

I remember several years ago when helping a friend move to Houston, we ate at a Denny's.  There was a tub-o woman in there telling the waitress how it was her favorite restaurant and was raving about how good the food was.  Seriously, you would thought they had served her Waygu fillet mignon or some shit.  When I think Denny's, I think either "next to La Quinta," or wannabe greasy spoon chain restaurant who's food tastes better than Ihop and Village Inn by virtue of the fact that they add more salt and are more generous with the bacon.  Best restaurant ever?  Fuck that shit.

This issue will only get worse too because these people get validation and empowerment from the public, food companies, and the good ol' Gov:

You're so fat you need to install an industrial strength extra wide toilet in your house? It's ok, "big is beautiful" campaigns will make you feel better about it!

You weigh so much you cannot move your fat pillars (aka "legs") to walk and get around without the use of a forklift, err, motorized scooter/wheelchair? It's ok, you're now considered handicapped and taxpayers will pay for your lard taxi!

You are so overweight that you need immediate life saving surgery or liposuction because you're too lazy to lose the weight yourself? It's ok, your free taxpayer funded healthcare covers your procedures!

You're so obese that you "require" high quantities of food at one hour intervals for a low price with your taxpayer funded food stamps? It's ok, fast food establishments have your back tits with $1 menu items!

The obese are being swaddled and coddled, so of course the rates of fatties are increasing. Everybody is kissing and feeding their fat asses!

The secondary effect of this is the terrible realization that the ability of finding good healthy REAL food for those of us who want such foods to properly nourish our bodies is a struggle. It's getting difficult to find affordable real food anymore instead of food shaped/flavored nuclear chemical waste piles... Fucking FRIGHTENING.

Allow me to speak on this issue, ... given some first hand experience,

First of all in ASIA we eat rice, .. and I do eat a little bread, but bake myself and some cookies,

Even a zillion years ago at 40 I had terrible hemorrhoids in the USA from eating just one hamburger, or an occasional lamb shank.

I can remember having to SIT on a donut ( like a pillow, but with a hole in the middle ) just so I could drive my truck, that is how terrible the HEMORRHOID pay is/was, go to doc, and its only SURGERY.

>>>

In ASIA we eat rice, and lots of it, and lot's of veggies, fresh fish, and MEAT is almost 99% of the time, PIG, ... and they just call it MEAT. Beef is un-heard of and so is lamb,...

In 20+ years of living in ASIA I have never had HEMMRHOID problem, never have constipation, or all the bullshit that goes with a western diet.

The women in ASIA are in general thin, and they work hard and use their lower legs to shit, no toilet no siree, you squat and it makes your shitter strong.

Returning to the USA I would probably die sitting on a toilet after trying to shit out a 1/2 LB burger with cheese.

>>>

Let's see ASIA diet every day, .. a few grams of pork, and lots of veggies, ... even when you eat 'meat' a portion is rarely ever over a few ounces [ in the entire prepared dish]. Lot's of green veggies, lots of egg's, everything 'farm-fresh', everyday you walk/bike to the market, or walk out to the fields and pick yourself some green's. Mix them up with some egg's and make an omelet with rice.
[ Everybody has chickens, egg's are plentiful, and effectively free; chicken is dear, you wait for your cock/hen to die:) ]

Greeks eat well too, and so do the poor in ITALY, lots of veggies and olive oil, ...

Hell Israelis and Lebanese eat well too, olive oil, and grains, and olives and fruits, ...

Then go to the USA, and see people fed SHIT, and they look like SHIT, YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, no wonder the USA MAN lost his balls a long time ago.

The problem in the USA, is too much cheap white bleached flour, and too much COW and LAMB, in quantity's that would kill an asian in a day.
