Yeah, the afghans would call a humm-v a "tank". I attribute this line of thinking to professional civilians. Folks who have NO knowledge of anything military.

i hear you man. however, like granny or the kids will give two shits for the proper definition of a tank...they will only remember that it had some kind of fucked up tread that didn't look like tires and something that resembled a big gun on the top...oh yeah, and that it was driving on the street and not that long ago, it wasn't. They will rememeber them as "tanks" as the economy and country goes to shit and that it only got worse as more "tanks" showed up. This goes for every "civilian" who will feel and probably think the same worldwide. It wont matter. They will also in time learn how to apply low tech civilian solutions for high tech military problems.

The good thing about the barricade is that it can be rebuilt almost as fast as it takes an APC to drive through it. They really need to add some metal to the barricade, and tie those tires together with wire or rope. How about some boards with long nails? Desks? Cars? Buses?
Dig a nice trench that is a little over half as long as the tank. Just need a backhoe or bobkat and an attachment to break up the blacktop (tarmac for you fuckin' Brits).
All the tires and shit in front will mask the trench. If they survive the drivers won't be so enthusiastic to plow through shit, like the american state department.
I just noticed, up near the pile of trash there's a guy in jeans and leather jacket. He's on his phone, and he's waving the APC to the far side of the heap. Is he with the military? Dangerous job that....
Just put gas cans every few feet in the barricade. Nobody in armor will go anywhere near it. Or cars with 55 gallon drums in the trunk. Cut road flares in half you can throw them pretty far. Arrisol cans of glue would also work really good.
