Actually, and all sarcasm aside, they should also apply as Dual-Citizens -- by applying for citizenship with the Vatican. And then watch the Pope squirm.
Alternatively, they could appeal to the 'Merican TV-Evangelists, and watch them squirm. These "pious" types are all the same: "Do as I say, not as I do. Now pass the Donation Basket."
I will say (as I have observed before) that at least the Jews and Zionists look out for their own, and don't go shooting or slaughtering each other. Christians and Muslims OTH, seem all too happy to spill the blood & guts of their own kind. And not a peep from their Clerical Elite, or a Summit of opposing clerical elite, to bring about peace and civility. --> "Religious Wars = Politics by other means", just like "Military Wars = Politics by other means"
If it were me, I'd define Treason as... "The betrayal of your own Clan, Tribe, Nation (even Species, if ETs are involved)", rather than the betrayal of political entities/Regimes that govern a country. I can think of plenty of Dual Citizens in Gov or TPTF companies, who are comitting Treason against the Nation, but pretend to serve it.
BTW, notice the double-standard when people talk about Treason these days: When a person betrays a self-serving and corrupt Regime, it's called Treason. When the same Regime betrays the Country, it's called something else and always has a nice-sounding name and tag line. Food for thought.
I can't speak for you folks, but I have to admit that I've been much happier when I internalized these ideas:
