Such as this photo series, courtesy of NYT's Chris Buckley, showing police in Shenzhen in full riot gear, training for what many say is inevitable: a working-class insurrection, or as Ifeng.com calls, it "emergency disposal operations."

There's the little bit about when the people who make the riot shields decide to start rioting and destroy the shields, WTF are the cops who need a new riot shield going to do? Supply lines can become fickle in a civil war that isn't North vs South, but rather everywhere vs everywhere.
The compound probability of a worker riot developing into a worker revolt developing into anything else is basically 0. Of 1.3 billion, at most 1/3 would be sympathetic, and of that perhaps 1/2 would ever actually be willing to fight. In every revolution, the number who actually physically took part in any violent action is really quite small.
If China, like anywhere else (see: Ukraine, right now) ever found itself with a real problem, it would not be the police handling it, but the army.
