This Is What Happens When You Leave A Tank Parked On A City Street In Ukraine

Tyler Durden's picture

As Jalopnik reports, a BMP light tank was reportedly left stalled on a city street near Mariupol... A gassed-up, fully-loaded tank. Ready to roll. Ready to obliterate some separatists. This is what happened next...

Forward to around 46 seconds for when he finds the big red "Fire" button...

I assume that APC has a high velocity 30 mm cannon. That baby sure packs a punch!  One might also ask why Ukrianian army leaves an APC parked unattended with a 30mm round in the chamber.

Is it just me, but over the last months I have watched these Russian Ukrainina civilians confront armed troops, tanks and APCs, to stand their ground when firing is going on to scare them. They jump at the chance to loot an APC even though the Ukrainian troops have to be nearby. In short, the people there do not seem to be scared and bullied little slaves like America's police state would like to make us here in the USA.

Latest news reveals deep American involvement in the shale gas companies seeking to drill in teh Donetsk basin. This is a rich part of Ukraine's shale gas play. Logical, as Donets basin has much coal, gas would be there too. Vice presidents son and a close friend of Kerry's family are both enagaged in trying to get rich by working in Ukraine's gas play.

Over all, I have noticed a near complete black out of news coming from Ukraine. Even RT has reduced coverage to a minimum. The west has produced a couple stories for world wide distribution, that have appeared at NPR, CNN and over in UK papers and BBC. This was the billionare who payed some workers to clean up an administration building. This paid work was presented as a spontaneous movement by locals to expel pro Russian protestors and to restore the region to Kiev. I followed up this story, and it proved to be just a slick propaganda piece using a few dozen workers who could hardly refuse to work for their billionare boss. Though the story was real, it was a stage managed propaganda piece that does not affect the overall rebellion in the East.

I have noticed the news blackout as well. I guess that it is part of the public opinion manipulation process. It is a kind of emotional roller coaster.

Stop talking about some topic on TV for a couple of days seem to be enough for a majority to forget. If they do not talk about it on TV, it does not exist or isn't too bad, right? Things should be settling down if they stop talking about it.

Same thing hapenned to MH370 flight. They were talking about it everyday for 2-3 weeks than after nothing.

North Korean had the same treatment last year or 2 years ago.

It kinda remember me the Terror alert system in the US where raising it randomly would induce a panic in the population. Duct tape shortage news and all that shit..

Russians who follow Putin are FASCISTS:

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

State Department program to direct the disucssion and debate of topics the USA feels are not being controlled by Washington's State Department? The State Department has admitted to hiring trolls and using computer programs to alert Washington to any discussion of Ukraine's crisis that is not following the line Washington has ordered to be the proper thought pattern on the issue. Israel originated this type of official employment of paid trolls. The object is to discredit alternate views and to direct discussion into preapproved channels favorable to the Party Line. Not only is our every word spied upon, tracked and stored, they also feel the need to get into the discussion and try and direct it to their approved direction.

We have several State Department trolls working ZH, although not every pro Neocon post is necessarily a trolls. There are true believers in the empire, true believers in thought control and total spy oversight of American's thoughts.

The derivation of your post: http://www.oldamericancentury.org/whitepapers/defining/identifiers_britt... Originally found here: http://www.secularhumanism.org/fi/index.htm (link is no mas..that is Spanish for "no more" you fucking simpleton.}

Below is who this "Doctor" really is....he is no doctor, but is truly more a propagandizing corporate cock for his political team. You'll have to excuse my penchant for research as I fuckass your idiocy.

"The internet knows him as Dr. Laurence Britt, a political scholar who studied Fascism in great detail in order to bring us these signs of its impending return, citing such examples as Mussolini’s Italy, Hitler’s Germany, Franco’s Spain, Salazar’s Portugal, Suharto’s Indonesia, Pinochet’s Chile and Papadopoulos’s Greece. But who is he really? A search of the internet reveals no “Doctor Laurence Britt, political scholar,” nor can any of his works be found aside from the 14 Warning Signs themselves. Does this man exist? As it turns out, yes and no. There is no “Dr. Laurence Britt, political scientist” and there never was. There is only Laurence Britt, former executive and author of a single book, who wrote the 14 Signs. Far from being anything resembling an expert on politics, much less Fascism specifically, Britt is a former corporate executive who worked for such corporations as Allied Chemical, Mobil and Xerox Corp and studied business at Northwestern University."

Larry Britt chimes in....

http://www.ryananddebi.com/2004/10/16/laurence-britts-14-points-of-fasci...24. Laurence Britt Says:

September 21st, 2006 at 9:41 pm Dear Ryan,
I’ve read this thread with interest. For your information I never made a claim that I was a “Dr.” Someone on the internet made that ASSUMPTION when they passed on the artice. I am a retired bsunessman with a life long interst in history and current events. I have a personal book collection on these subjects of over 3000 volumes. I’ve contributed chapters to three books, written another, and am working on a second. I’ve written aproximately 25 magazine and newespaper articles on political and econmic affairs. I spent about 200 hours researching the fascism article building on a lifetime interst in the subject. My novel, “June , 2004? was written in 1997 and published in 1998. It was a fictional treatment of a future of fascism in America, which has turned out quite predictive of actual events since it was published. Regards, Larry Britt

"So, we have established that there is no Dr. Laurence Britt, only Laurence Britt, retired businessman. So what was the inspiration for his article? As it turns out, it was nothing more than a propaganda piece intended to serve as an argument claiming the Bush administration was in fact, Fascist and that it was a basis for his book “June 2004,” in which America descends into Fascism following the election of a strangely Bush-like far-right politician, a book which he maintains has been “quite predictive,” though one might have to actually care to read the book to determine whether or not this is true."

"Despite Britt’s lack of academic credentials, his partisan allegiances and his inclusion of non-Fascist movements, do the Signs point towards Fascism? This is what we will spend the remainder of this article determining as we go point-by-point and address each “Warning Sign” and compare it to Fascism, not only the core theory and works of literature, but also historical examples, including those which Britt overlooked in his zeal to paint the GOP as “Fascist” warmongers."

Debunking of your total bullshit copy/paste courtesy of http://therightstuff.biz/2014/01/22/fascism-no-one-a-response-to-dr-laur...

I'll be here all week. Tip your State Dept. troll....

In all seriousness, you better come with more than that. When you have the truth on your side, it's very tough to lose arguments. If you want to see the type of Fascism these warmongering, children killing, Nazi fuck backing troglodytes are beginning to resemble, I'd take a look at Japan in th late 1920's in a run up to WWII. I recommend you read, "Japan and Its World" by Marius B Jansen.

Thanks for the post IR!

With the amount of trolling on the internet by statists interests, it amazes me how many readers commented on and agreed with the post you absolutely trashed, Bravo.

Another amazing truth is how many believe the fascist regimes of the past were "Rightwing".

With the infusion of libertarian ideas into the "republican" mainstream as the result of Ron Paul and his followers and the groundswell of support for a return to a strict interpretation of the US Constitution, the onslaught against this groundswell is breathtaking.

When I talk with those in my sphere of influence, I'm encouraged by the awakening taking place regarding research into how the leviathan of statism is causing great harm to the US Constitution and its inclusion and adherance into everyday life.

It is my belief that this is giving rise to the term constitutional conservative, which gives separation to those wanting to divest themselves of the two party paradigm.

Sitting there stationary firing multiple rounds is not sound tactics on taday's battlefield. "Shoot and scoot" is what they used to call it. There are so many weapon systems that can take out a tank/apc that sitting still after announcing your position makes you a sitting duck. One of the huge selling points of the M1 Abrams was it's ability to acquire and fire on the move.

This is true on the modern battlefield. But the battlefield in Ukraine is not modern in the sense we are used to. Ukraine's army in East Ukraine is a ragtag bunch of outdated APC's and the odd tank. I would liken the conflict in East Ukraine to a 1960's battlefield. The fight is not taking place in the presence of weapons of which you speak. Russian troops across the border do have all these moern systems, but they are not enagaged. Ukraine's army is not a modern force, nor is the resistance. So expect this type of thing like you see on the video.

Yes, at first, but after a few minutes they began firing on the move. There was also apparently 1 forward spotter & 1 equipped with night vision on the vehicle itself. Judging by the panicky & aimless return fire, the targets weren't exactly top grade either.

We used to have a problem with a clients site falling over every night at about the same time, in the end we tracked it down to the cleaner, pulling a plug out to plug their vacuum in. Never ever under estimate peoples stupidity, the cleaner thought nothing about all the pretty lights on equipment going off when she plugged in her vacuum, after all it was only going to be for a little while, then she would plug it back in again, no harm done. lol.

Maybe if private citizens were allowed to own their own tanks, they would be better equipped to handle them responsibly. We need a lobby group, call it the National Tank Association, get that put in place to avoid senseless incidents like this.

BMP 2 (an infantry fighting vehicle) has a 30mm auto-stabilized auto-cannon.  Notice the nice new paint job on this - it just rolled off the rail cars from Czech Republic?  This thing is hard to load, so I find it difficult to believe that the garrison loaded this up, crew it out, rolled it down the road unsupported (radio anyone) and left it ready to fire in the middle of civilians in hostile? territory.  The only guys that do this are mercs and folks that never spent their own money on their TO&E.

This "setup" is a slow burn strategy used to incite civic strife and chaos.  We used to do the same thing in Iraq.  Get some half working piece of Iraqi mechanized equipment and load it out with a few dozen rounds of this and that.  Load it up ready to fire - batteries on, etc. Leave it in a Shia neighborhood and see what happens next.  All the local boys would come out of nowhere and play around it, scavenge it for water, cigs and porn and other planted pro-Sunni propaganda and invariably hit the "big red fire" button and blow up some market, favorite shop or kill somebody's uncle.  Everyone comes out the next day and blames the Sunnis for illegal killings.  This is how you create ethnic conflicts - psyops.

It is meant to sow chaos.

If this really did "break down" why is it being left unguarded?

Ukraine would have done better by marketing to German tourists and American internet magnates.

1. BMP can have also a smooth bore 80mm. It seems to be this short smooth bore 80 mm, normally firing the antitank ammo, or antitank rocket.

2. this seems to be a show before the planed elections next weekend.

3. the world-wide propaganda of CIA through their media is silent this week. I link this to the planed elections: CIA wants to show to the world, that Ua is a normal stable country and the elections, which ought to be held next week, are very very normal occurence and happen to be in a lucky country with some disobedience here, or some fireworks there.

I wondered why the propaganda machine had fallen silent, of course must give the appearance that all is well, afterwards they can shift back into high gear because then everything will be due to Russians not liking the result, I am curious, is there actually any opposition to vote for in this election or is there only the one party and you simply have a choice of names, does anybody know?

tank in the hands of a civilian separatist = destroyed separatist city.

seems to me the lesson to learn here is that maybe the separatists alone could quell the russian instigation if ukrainians give them weapons to "support" the uprising.
