Why America Is In Decline
Submitted by Simon Black of Sovereign Man blog,
Along with history, travel is by far one of the best teachers. Formal education in classrooms can be stifling to the mind. It makes people believe that the world actually conforms to all the snazzy theories we read about.
But there’s no economic textbook on the planet that can come close to showing you how the world really works.
It’s not about stocks and flows, efficient markets, or official statistics. None of that stuff really matters.
The world runs on people. And even though our politicians go out of their way to highlight the differences among us, human beings all over the world are fundamentally the same.
We all love our children. We cheer for our favorite teams. We work hard to put food on the table for our families. We get frustrated with where we’re at in life. And we desire to achieve more.
This desire to achieve is fundamental to all humanity. Human beings aspire. We push ourselves to accomplish more and improve our stations in life. And this desire spans generations.
Parents always want their children to enjoy a better life than they had. And they work their butts off to ensure this happens.
This isn’t exclusively a western phenomenon. All over the world, the need to provide a better life for one’s children is practically a subtext to the social contract. And people in developing countries want exactly the same thing.
They’re succeeding.
A child born in China today will have a far richer life than his/her parents and grandparents.
And in my travels to over 100 countries over the last 10+ years, I’ve seen other frontier and developing markets that are bursting at the seams in a similar trend.
Myanmar. Colombia. Tanzania. Georgia. Sri Lanka. Botswana. Indonesia. Mongolia.
The growth rates in these places are staggering, and you can see first-hand the hundreds of millions of people being lifted out of poverty.
In these developing countries, they look across the water to the West and can see a rich and consumptive lifestyle. They want this lifestyle, especially for their children.
They’ve spent decades toiling in factories, saving money, and building for the future. It’s time to cash in.
Decades ago, the vast majority of wealth and production was in the West– specifically the United States.
Most people across Asia and Latin America were absolutely impoverished, and felt honored just to be able to work hard and export a product to the US.
Today, it is those same countries (particularly in Asia) that now hold the majority of the world’s wealth and production. And it is their growth that pulls the global economy along.
The West, on the other hand, is full of debt and consumption. America’s greatest exports are now infinite quantities of paper currency, drone attacks, and arrogant regulations like FATCA.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where this is going.
The West is running out of steam, and the Social Contract subtext is breaking down. Parents are no longer able to provide a better life for their children.
It’s not from lack of trying. But when you’re bogged down by tens of trillions in debt, rising taxes, increased regulation, and a government that rules by fear and intimidation, it’s like swimming upstream in the middle of a hurricane.
Wealth and power are shifting. Developing nations are rising quickly, and western nations are sinking. It’s happening. Ignoring this reality doesn’t make it go away.
Providing a better life for our children now means breaking away from a 20th century paradigm and embracing the new rules of the game.
The world isn’t coming to an end. But it’s changing, just as Hemingway wrote– gradually, then suddenly.
This is fundamentally a good news story… and it opens up a world of opportunity for those who are willing to see it.

It's the Tax Cuts for the Wealthy
The New York Times stated in an editorial that the full Bush-era tax cuts were the single biggest contributor to the deficit over the past decade, reducing revenues by about $1.8 trillion between 2002 and 2009.[26]
CBO estimated in June 2012 that the Bush tax cuts (EGTRRA and JGTRRA) added about $1.6 trillion to the debt between 2001 and 2011, excluding interest.[27]
In August 2010, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that extending the tax cuts for the 2011-2020 time period would add $3.3 trillion to the national debt, comprising $2.65 trillion in foregone tax revenue plus another $0.66 trillion for interest and debt service costs.[29]
Obama said, "I'm not willing to let working families across this country become collateral damage for political warfare here in Washington. And I'm not willing to let our economy slip backwards just as we're pulling ourselves out of this devastating recession. ... So, sympathetic as I am to those who prefer a fight over compromise, as much as the political wisdom may dictate fighting over solving problems, it would be the wrong thing to do. ... As for now, I believe this bipartisan plan is the right thing to do. It’s the right thing to do for jobs. It’s the right thing to do for the middle class. It is the right thing to do for business. And it’s the right thing to do for our economy. It offers us an opportunity that we need to seize."[46] According to Kori Schulman (2010), Director of Online Engagement for the Whitehouse media team, the agreement has three accomplishments: “working families will not lose their tax cut, focused on high impact job creation measures, and does not worsen the medium-and-long-term deficit.”[47

Stopped paying taxes, took their jobs and business and fled to tax havens with low regulatory oversight and said FUCK YOU to the country which gave them the ability to get richer than any man needed to be.
It's the tax cuts stupid.
And the wars...the never ending wars,,and the bail outs, and the $$ support to ISRAEL who gets a check from a few countries including mine and seems to be the only goddam country which is not only doing well but exceeding expectations.
The whole scene is a psyop...it's a SILENT COUP...
The shot that was heard around the world; the one that went through JFK's head. Since then, it's been a silent coup. it's definetely a coup.
The Palestinian Authority has received twice as much ($20 million over 10 years) as the State of Israel ($10 million over 20 years).
So, where is all that money? The people in the Gaza strip sure didn't get it!
The reason Eugenics and breeding is politically incorrect is because everyting about it is true. Dygenics is what we have now. Where historically unproductive people for generations have been paid to have more kids and historically high producers are heavily taxed and burdened our of existance. The movie 'Idiotocracy' is not a prophicy but a documentary.
Re: Where historically unproductive people
I assume you mean also those who are simply lucky to inherit their wealth and don't have to prove that they also inherited the superior genes of their parents?
try reading instead of assuming.
The reason everyone on this blog was taught all their lives in every school they ever attented that IQ is "unimportant" and is not hereditary; is that African Americans consistently test at 90 on standardized tests. period.
Various experiments showed that IQ is strongly tighted to poverty and the uncertainty of future, that drain mental capabilities.
For example, peasants from all over the world were tested before they bring their crops in or after bringing them in. Testing exhibited a 15 deviation between.
One thing 'americans' can not afford: a return to the natural world.
.
Affordment is not a mattering thing when debt can grow boundlessly.
High producers are burdened out of existence? Where is such miracle happening? Certainly not in 'american' societies.
The historically unproductive people by being able to consume their environment as fast as 'americans' do (who can that anyway?) are what enabled the 'american' miracle. Those historically unproductive people made the savings 'american' economics require to be a success.
In this regard, claiming that eugenics and breeding is true might be viewed in the light that getting rid of these historically unproductive people would have saved humanity from the 'american' experience.
'Americanism', the best thing to have ever happened to humanity.
Only the elite like Simon Black can afford to travel the world. The vast majority is condemned to stay in their own neighborhood. They can only hope to become a circus attraction to the likes of Simon Black who may throw some pennies at them.
I would still rather be living in a small rural community with my large garden, chickens and neighbors that know me. (And who consider me "One of them")
Simon at some point in time in the future will be surrounded by a group of guys and here them say, "You ain't from around here are ya?" In the local language.
A phrase you Will NOT want to hear.
You like to look at yourself in the mirror most of all, don't ya?
Ah, no.
Ah, for 'americans', the group is all. Since their start on the world scene, 'americans' have always desired an undivided group to which they could belong without their membership being ever questioned.
Inherently, human groups are always divided in lower units that are called individuals.
The one of us will only last that long before being questioned.
It is funny how 'americans' are in urge to cling to their fantasy, they abhor reality to such level.
As a side note, Black is an 'american', he does not mix the indigenous other than to give some exotic colour to his tales. Black, when he is abroad, lives among other 'americans', in close communities as 'americans' know how to.
Condemned? Condemned!!!
Send your children to the Army or Navy, so some will see the world.
Right - travel the world, meet interesting people, and kill them.
Do you know folks who had kids in order to have somebody to sell bubble-high to?

Dont worry, the radiation leaking from Fukushima will get us long before the global economic collapse.
The crux of our economic woes lay in the fact that over the last several decades we have created entitlement societies on the back of the industrial revolution, technological advantages, capital accumulated from the colonial era, and the domination of global finances. Promises were made on the assumption that those advantages would continue in both Europe and US.
It was thought that ever greater prosperity and entitlements would be sustained through debt financed consumption growth. In that eerie fantasy world, debt fueled consumption was to be the catalyst to bring about ever more growth. Now reality has begun to come into focus and it is becoming apparent that this is unsustainable. The entitlements and promises that have piled up have become overwhelming. More on this subject in the article below.

"A child born in China today will have a far richer life "
If by richer you mean living in health destroying thick smog, eating more junk processed foods, being forced to abandon the bicycle and taking a loan to get stuck in a car in traffic jams, being convinced into health destructing western medicine, leaving the rural areas and the connection with nature and with other human beings to go to a factory and establish a relationship with machines and toxic chemicals, ... the list goes on.
What an illusion. The average child in China and in the whole developped world will live in far worse conditions, even if the GDP says he has more.
Simon Black is an ignorant hack; what did you expect? he doesn't know shit from shinola.
to AIZo:
Have you been to LONDON lately? Talk abut SMOG and stand-still traffic !!!!!
Because f*ck you, that's why.
'Americans' are so trapped by their own mythology. They cant escape it because when they do, they are forced to contemplate reality, reality they've made and it is too brutal for them to endure.
An essential in their 'american' mythology is that somehow, 'americans' are a special breed as contrary to others they managed to overcome their environment.
As such, anytime, in the thinking of 'americans', the infinite growth is lurking somewhere around.
So as they have overcome the environment, 'americans' can produce more than they consume. How awesome.
The article has it that developing countries have patiently saved and it is now time to cash in.
Cash in on what? 'American' economics is all about consumption and part of the strategy of 'americans' is to suppress other people in their consumption so it leaves 'americans' more room for their own consumption.
'Americans' have done well at the consumption act and they've put the world on the path of depletion of resources.
Supposedly, those countries have the factories etc to perform well blablabla
Factories are only one way of consuming the environment and consume it faster. As 'americans' have consumed so much of the global environment, what are these factories going to run on?
They are progressing: of course, they are progressing. The 'american' consumption has been extremelly impressive: in the last fifty years, 'americans' have managed to beat the consumption act of all humanity before that.
'Americans' manage to supress others in their own consumption that any drop is an improvement.
The 'american' middle class have saturated the world on a global scale. The world is overpopulated with the 'american' middle class. Not enough resources to improve or even maintain that much of an 'american' middle class in the world. As a follow up, it takes much less for any one else to improve their common lots.
The environment is failing the 'american' middle class because the 'american' middle class is over extended, way too numerous and worse, always able to find new ways to wanton consumption.
Reducing the number of the 'american' middle class must only be a temporary cope out as a lower in number 'american' middle class might match or overcatch the previous level of consumption.
The 'american' middle class must be reduced drastically in number and their way of life either decreased or at least constant.
.
Unpossible. In US citizenism, middle class is the king class. Just need more poors as stepping stones. Elites obey orders of the king class and will farm more poors to fill the lack.
The 'american' middle class is the King class. No matter how mighty the servants to the 'american' middle class are, they are not almighty.
The only viable solution is the reduction of the 'american' middle class.
Somehow, 'american' middle classers cling to their middle class with their entitlement mindset, thinking it is a status that shall last forever.
It does not. Once dropped out, former middle classers are that: former middle classers, they no longer belong to the King class.
The weeding of the 'american' middle class is per the 'american' middle class will.
Poors and weaks are already saturated by the 'american' middle class, there is no hope coming from that bottom.
Way too many 'american' middle classers, not enough Indians.
Indians are a very scarce commodity these days,'americans' are missing the good old days.
The problem is NOT consumption. America as we have known it will collapse due to the excessive PRIVATE debt used to fund this consumption. Control private debt and the consumption problem takes care of itself.
My own solution adopted over 30 years ago: I always pay in CASH, whether buying a car, a house or a pack of chewing gum. As a result, I bought only what I really needed; NOT what I merely wanted. It was a great way to SAVE and thereby INVEST.
Consequently, I was financially able to retire at age 52.

Enter Cede & Co II; The Fed Is Now Backstopping $25 Trillion In DTCC Cleared Credit Default Swaps
..
"And you thought the $23 trillion in backstops for the financial system was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet. Earlier today, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, best known for its Cede & Co. partnership nominee which is the holder of virtually every single physical stock certificate in the known universe, and accounts for over $2 quadrillion in stock transactions per year, announced that "the Federal Reserve Board had approved its application to
establish a DTCC subsidiary that is a member of the Federal Reserve
System to operate the Trade Information Warehouse (Warehouse) for over
the-counter (OTC) credit derivatives." With this approval the DTCC is now the de facto legally accepted
global repository for over-the-counter credit derivative transactions. Simply said, the Federal Reserve is now the guarantor behind all CDS transactions that clear via DTCC, which would be pretty much all of them (sorry CME, you lose). The total bottom line in terms of gross notional? 2.3 million contracts with a gross notional value of $25.5 trillion. When the next AIG implodes, and the CDS market is once again facing annihilation in the face, who will be on the hook? You dear taxpayer, that's who." ...t.d.
Fukushima radiation doesnt respect borders.
The only growth that will be occurring is the tumor in their brains, like Simon Black has. It apparently causes people to predominantly look in their rearview mirror and make backward-looking statements.
Sweden has a budget surplus.
In many countries in eastern Europe and Asia, one can live very comfortably for 1/10 (one-tenth) or less the cost of living in the U.S. and the West.
I live in a major city in eastern Europe (5 minutes from the beach) and (for example) my monthly electricity bill is about THREE DOLLARS.
You do NOT need a huge amount of money to live outside the U.S., if you choose your location wisely.
