Which Islam are you refering to? Sufi Islam? Classical tradition Islam? Salafi Islam? That's some of the Sunni branches or maybe you refering to Shia Islam? In which are case are you refering to the Ashari (literally means 12 in Arabic) Shia Islam? Which is what the Iranians are. Are you refering to the Seventh Imam Shias? The ones the Assad's Alevites follow? Perhaps the flavour you refering to is those who follow Five Imams Shias? Or perhaps the Zaydi Shias of Yemen?
Furthermore just to let you know Salaafi muslims often clash with those muslims who follow the classical traditions (ie those who are Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki, Hanbali) and more so with the Sufis (in Somalia and Pakistan Sufi muslims violently clash with the Salaafi type all the time). Take the issue of jhad according to the classical tradition of Islam only a recognised leader of a muslim state can declare it, Salaafis on the other hand - especially the takfiri type that affiliate with Al Qaeda - completly ignore this rule. The vast majority of muslims I've encountered both in muslim (Saudis excluded) and non-muslim countries follow the classical tradition and none of them recognise the authority of Al Qaeda or often find their odiforously odious interpretation of Islam rather alien.
In fact before the emergence of Saudi wahabism Sufi Islam was quite popular in the muslim world especially the areas the Ottomans ruled. And as for evolved mentally the classical tradition of Islam emerged from the debates that use to occur during the 11th century at the height of the Greco-Arabic translation movement (which I've discussed previously) in which issues like free-will and predestination was discussed by muslim theologians. But I suppose for you to know this all requires a level of academic reading which I suspect you lack.

The news stories of the "undoing" of Iraq are grossly out of line. NOTHING ever got done in Iraq. The surge was a sham; the "Sunni Awakening" was a Mad Avenue slogan. What saved the US bacon in Iraq was slowly and quietly basing all troops, ceasing all patrols that were provoking insurgent attacks, withdrawing troops, bribing Sunnis to stop attacking US forces and quietly exit stage left. Iraq has received ZERO critical press coverage for the last 3-4 years, but this resurgence has been brewing for that long. The rabid choir slamming Obama for all this is laughable. Let's keep our eye on the ball here. The only difference between Iraq and Vietnam war was that the US military learned how to shape perceptions on their bungling.
Riddle me this... if "all" US forces were withdrawn from Iraq... why did my brother just return from his 4th tour (as a contractor this time) this spring? In hindsight I find his sudden homecoming, however welcome and relieved we are he's back, a bit of a surprise. Seems to me like US intel had good solid data that this was about to spiral out of control and quietely started pulling "contractors" out ahead of this debacle. Wonder what the numbers are on contractors working in Iraq, but I imagine they're bailing out in huge numbers at the moment.

Supposedly since the Free Syrian Army since leadership changed to Abudl-Ilah al-Bashir has been reinforcing it's ranks with the MEK aka People's Mujahedin of Iran who happen to be currently in a refugee camp(s) in Iraq under control of the US. With all that 'training' the MEK is getting in Syria it would reason that during all the current chaos they will probably be let loose to sneak back into Iran and use said training against the Iranian government. There is a possibilty as stated that this a trap and Iran is going to step in to route the ISIS. If that happens then that would be a good time to slip these people in.
