President Obama To Explain Why You Should Forget All About Q1 GDP - Live Feed
The economy must be doing great, right? The market's at all-time highs... We suspect President Obama will 'brush off' the Q1 GDP collapse and focus his 'remarks on the US economy' on how well America is doing; how exceptional it's growth is'; and how any minute now it's going to the moon alice (and not just the Fed balance sheet). And just a reminder, the last time Obama spoke aggressively on 'fixing' inequality, stocks were not happy. Remember, the greatest irony of it all...

As we noted previously, one can read 696 page neo-Marxist tomes "explaining" inequality in a way only an economist could - by ignoring the untold destruction economists themselves have unleashed on society with their "scientific theories" (and providing a "solution" to the inequality problem which we warned readers was coming back in September of 2011) or one can read the following 139 words by Elliott's Paul Singer which in two short paragraphs explains everything one needs to know about America's record class inequality, including precisely who is the man responsible:
Inequality in the U.S. today is near its historical highs, largely because the Federal Reserve’s policies have succeeded in achieving their aim: namely, higher asset prices (especially the prices of stocks, bonds and high-end real estate), which are generally owned by taxpayers in the upper-income brackets. The Fed is doing all the work, because the President’s policies are growth-suppressive. In the absence of the Fed’s moneyprinting and ZIRP, the economy would either be softer or actually in a new recession.
The greatest irony is that the President is railing against inequality as one of the most important problems of the day, despite the fact that his policies are squeezing the middle class and causing the Fed – with the President’s encouragement – to engage in the radical monetary policy, which is exacerbating inequality. This simple truth cannot be repeated often enough.

I'm not sure the massive increase in debt to 'stimulate' the economy is a good thing. Debt usually catches up to you. All those "no credit check" things and "zero-down, interest free for five year" things come back to bite you in the Butt.
Last time Hank Paulson/Bush/Barry stuck the taxpayers with the tab...I'm not so sure they can do it again with the Trillion dollar student debt debacle, new zero-down mortgages, EZ Auto Loans, and so on.

The trouble is that we listen to them tell us what they are going to do, and elect them thinking they are actually going to DO those things.
But here is what actually happens. As soon as a new President is elected, he gets an "inservice" on 'How things work around here'. He is told in no uncertain terms that his ideas, though appealing to the voters, have no chance in Hell of being enacted, and he is introduced to the vast array of people and agencies that stand ready to pounce on his ass like stink on shit at any hint that he might decide to give it a try anyway.
Then comes the carrot...Do as we say, and you will leave office with a fairly decent legacy, an impressive Presidential Library, a lucrative position somewhere when his term is over....
As he mulls it over, they administer the coup de grace...an aide appears with small tablet. He sets it down in front of the President-elect, and taps the play button. Our newly-elected leader turns the color of old cheese as he watches himself, clad in black latex and wearing a ball gag as a hard-faced woman in fishnets yells "Lick my boots, worm!".
Then the Congressional leaders from both parties take the shaken man into their chambers and they work out the best way to give him cover when he breaks the promises he made. 'Good cops' and 'bad cops' will be chosen to make it look as though he tried his best, but just could not overcome the opposition.
Later, as he places some family photos on the desk in the Oval office, Obama is introduced to Michele Bachman, who much to his surprise, is a pleasant, quiet and remarkably intelligent woman. She chuckles, having been through this before. "I know, I know, sometimes it does get a little over-the-top. But it's a lot of fun. Sometimes I try to see how much I can get away with..Of course you'll get a heads up about anything we're gonna say. The important thing is not to take any of it personally." She takes his arm as they leave the Oval Office, chatting amiably as they make their way down the hall. "You know my Marcus is gay, don't you? I only mention that because you are DEFINITELY his type. I don't mind as long as he lets me watch. But no pressure, it's just something to think about..."
Idea: next time he speaks in public, have some well positioned hecklers *laugh and laugh and laugh* anytime he says something really stupid.
