(Cognitive Dissonance – While I edited this book for Joe I am not participating in any revenue from the sale of this book. However I did purchase several copies for personal use as well as to give to family and friends.
In fact if you are looking for an inexpensive, easy to read explanation of what is going on in the world, where it is headed and ways to prepare for the inevitable change, all in a compact form you can hand to family and friends, this just might be the book for you.)
From Chapter Four - A New Paradigm is Forming
From the American perspective, one does not have to go back very far in history to recognize that the fundamental principles underlying our society have dramatically changed. The American spirit was once firm on the principles of personal liberty, property rights, free markets, and non-intervention. This is the spirit that attracted immigrants from all over the world to flock to American shores. Freedom was quite popular.
That spirit has been dulled over the past one hundred years and the principles underlying American society have shifted drastically.
Personal liberty was gradually traded for “the greater good for the greatest number” and the illusion of government provided security. Property rights gradually became subject to all manner of governmental rules and regulations. Free markets were destroyed by constant government intervention as America accepted the Keynesian/socialist notion that it was, and is, the role of government to centrally plan the economy.
But the future is calling and the paradigm is rapidly shifting. They won't mention this shift on the television or in the major publications, however, so those still mired in the 20th century way of thinking do not yet realize that it is happening. But if we look around our world we can quite clearly observe the shift in motion.
Look at the explosion of alternative media resources on the Internet. While estimates suggest that only five companies (Time Warner, News Corp, Viacom, Bertelsmann AG, Walt Disney) control more than three quarters of all major media properties (television, cinema, book publishers, magazines, newspapers), there is now a myriad of alternate media sources working diligently to provide unfiltered news and information. The Internet has allowed alternative media to flourish, and people are beginning to see that most mainstream ‘news’ is little more than state propaganda.
Look at the explosion of books and documentaries based on the principles of personal liberty and free markets. More and more people are waking up to the reality of what has happened over the past century and they are trying to spread the message as best they can.
The deterioration of popular support for the corrupt political system and the equally corrupt and enabling mass media is becoming too obvious for even the ideologically blind to ignore. Support for politicians is at an all-time low in modern history and people are starting to realize that it is the entire political system that is corrupt rather than one or the other political party. For example:
- Michelle Obama recently cancelled a speech she was scheduled to give at a Kansas high school after nearly 2,000 people signed a petition in protest of her appearance.
- Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice recently cancelled her scheduled speech at Rutgers University as faculty and students publically protested her appearance citing her “efforts to mislead the American people about the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.”
- Attorney General Eric Holder cancelled his speech at a police academy graduation due to protests asserting that he was an ironic choice given his “tactics of obfuscation and redirection of blame”.
- Former Vice President Dick Cheney had to cancel multiple appearances in Canada because it was “too dangerous” for him.
- Former President George W. Bush had to cancel a speech at a Jewish charity gala in Switzerland because he was worried about possible legal action against him for alleged torture.
Read the comments sections on mainstream financial articles that suggest the economy has recovered and the Federal Reserve is the hero – people just aren't buying it anymore. To counter the teetering support for the political and financial systems, the mainstream media has been working hard to paint the status-quo in a positive light. Many people aren’t buying the rhetoric and they are actively calling the bluff.
Additionally, it is remarkable how many localities are pushing for secession throughout the world. Northern California, Texas, Colorado, Vermont, Scotland, Belgium, Bavaria, Catalonia, and Venice are all areas in which residents have voiced support for secession in some capacity due to the ills of government interventions.
Look at the explosion of support the Ron Paul Revolution attracted during his presidential campaigns of 2008 and 2012. Ron Paul’s efforts awoke a legion of young people dedicated to carrying the message of liberty forward. The seeds of liberty have been firmly planted in the minds of these young people and those seeds have only begun to blossom. We will truly witness the historical significance of Ron Paul over the next several decades as these young people develop into principled leaders with a clear understanding of personal liberty and free market economics.
As Ron Paul so often said: “The Revolution is alive and well…”
History has shown, repeatedly, that the human spirit cannot be conquered. You may be able to suppress the human spirit for one hundred years or so, but never forever. The human spirit will always rise.
History has also shown that the collectivist tyrants will do everything in their power to suppress the human spirit and maintain power, and the present day situation is no different. There are now cameras on every stop light and federal taps on every cell phone for this reason. Federally funded SWAT teams are now operational in nearly every town and city, and heavy duty military vehicles and equipment are deployed in every major metropolitan city for the same reason.
The PATRIOT Act, which effectively repealed the 4th amendment, was passed for this reason. The National Defense Authorization Act, which declared the United States a battleground and every American a terrorist suspect, was passed for this reason. The Department of Homeland Security has purchased millions of rounds of hollow point ammunition, which is illegal under international law, for this reason. The REAL ID act, which requires States to upload every single American's photograph into a federally monitored facial recognition system, was implemented for this reason.
The power elite are not content to go quietly into the night, to be filed away into the dustbin of history's mistakes so seamlessly.
Instead, they are prepared to use force to maintain their lordship over the individual. They are prepared to meet the individual on the battlefield. What has completely gone over their head, however, is that the individual does not fight on the battlefield of force, but rather the battlefield of thoughts and ideas.
Victor Hugo once said "No army can withstand the strength of an idea whose time has come."
Our time has come.
The revolution is already in motion. It is a peaceful and intellectual revolution - not one of violence or force, and that is why it will succeed. The collectivist power elite are ill-prepared to fight on the intellectual battlefield because the results of their ideology are in: they failed and they can no longer convince the individual otherwise.
Brushfires of liberty are burning in the minds of men once again. And what is so amazing is that this liberty revolution is not constrained to America this time; it is world-wide. Not only are Americans awakening to the long-forgotten principles of liberty, but so are individuals all over the world. There is a fierce anti-Euro, anti-collectivist movement sweeping all of Europe as these words are being written. Meanwhile, much of Asia is becoming more free-market oriented by the day.
History has demonstrated that dying paradigms are sometimes capable of holding on for much longer than anyone can believe. But they can never last forever. The current paradigm may be able to linger for a while longer, but make no mistake about it - a major paradigm shift is currently underway.
And make no mistake about it - the individual is rising.

Good fucking grief can you please understand that this argument completely misunderstands what the concept of individuality is. It's an invalid argument.
Learn what these concepts mean: collectivism or socialism, collective action and individualism.
Allow me to simplify.
Collectivism=centralized control of you. No individual rights. Age old.
Collective action and individualism=smart cooperation that does not negate individual rights. New. Different.
definitions of words used.
this is the only way to exist when the world is awash with vocabulary, and parched of real truths.
know how you use the words you choose, and if necessary, define them within your spoken/written paragraphs.
languages have been cheapened and used against humans, to enslave and exploit - best define concepts amongst like-minded similars.
Hear! Hear!
Sure, cooperation, but not forced cooperation (socialism).
The individual is rising >>> and will be met by a 1.6 billion barrage of sniper bullets:
“some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers” http://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphbenko/2013/03/11/1-6-billion-rounds-of-ammo-for-homeland-security-its-time-for-a-national-conversation/
You want to see the future mate? Look no further than Egypt.
When people get pissed off and riot the government simply opens fire on anyone protesting. They round up the leaders - put them in dungeons, beat them, torture them, execute them.
When things get so bad economically the people will embrace the totalitarian nightmare - as they have in Egypt - because the dictator brings order - revolution brings chaos and an even worse situation than dictatorship.
So the people will welcome in the beast - because the alternative is anarchy. The people will be happy to have the beast throw them some scraps - anything is better than total chaos.
You tough guys with your guns - you'll be rooted out by the American military and shot dead. Your neighbours will do as the Egyptians have done >>> they will inform on you >>>> because YOU bring instability >>> you bring revolution >>> the beast gives them scraps of food >>> they will blame you >>> they will love the beast >>> they will HELP the beast.
This is what is coming my friends. Make no mistake about it. Your revolution is already over.
You don't understand. It is different this time.
Sadly in won't be especially in the US which has the most heterogenerous population on the planet either. At best people who are like-minded will band together in local communities and pull themselves along.
.
the same existence has been repeated in human groupings, globally, forever. . .
find your "tribe" of similars to work with, whatever way your mind identifies this. shit will continue to "happen" as history proves.
"there is now a myriad of alternate media sources working diligently to provide unfiltered news and information. The Internet has allowed alternative media to flourish, and people are beginning to see that most mainstream ‘news’ is little more than state propaganda."
That is plainly not true --- MOST people see alternative media as 'conspiracy theory territory' --- MOST people do not believe anything until it appears in the MSM.
The MSM is still all-powerful. Whoever controls the MSM still controls the narrative.
Only a small minority of people have rejeced the MSM for what it is - propaganda -- most still embrace it and believe every word that it spews out.
See this: https://www.facebook.com/
That is a Facebook news feed. Some of us do not do anything but read the news and share it with others. There are tens of thousands of people adding information regarding the latest alternative news and Youtube videos.
Unlike what FB intended, we do not share what we have for dinner or how miserable we are. We simply read the news. Youtube also has news available from Greg Hunter and other less well known people who share their views which we share on our newsfeeds.

the link is back and still exceptional,

This is what I do not know. There have been many articles in the past couple of years documenting the US population's collapse in faith in congress. Interestingly, in one of those recent surveys, they also asked about TV news:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/171710/public-faith-congress-falls-again-hits...
It showed a trustworthiness of something like 18%. That sounds like more than a small minority of people rejecting it. There are hints out there that TPTB are losing control faster than they want to admit.
That said, I know many people who still, as you say, consider the news the "more reliable" source. Not sure yet which way the tea leaves are pointing, but the trend is good.
No need to buy this book:
Once QE and ZIRP and all the other desperate actions stop keeping the ship afloat here is what Plan B is:
A) First you have to identify what the desperate actions are fighting against:
THE PERFECT STORM (see p. 59 onwards) http://ftalphaville.ft.com/files/2013/01/Perfect-Storm-LR.pdf
The economy is a surplus energy equation, not a monetary one, and growth in output (and in the global population) since the Industrial Revolution has resulted from the harnessing of ever-greater quantities of energy. But the critical relationship between energy production and the energy cost of extraction is now deteriorating so rapidly that the economy as we have known it for more than two centuries is beginning to unravel.
B) What will the elites do --- and why?
When things unravel the elites will most certainly not stand by and allow complete chaos to overwhelm them --- they will definitely be trying to influence the outcome ---- they will most definitely want to cull the population drastically. That MUST happen because 7.2 billion people CANNOT be fed post oil. Here’s the plan:
1. Declare martial law ensuring that anyone who resorts to violence to obtain food is quickly smashed down (the NSA already knows who the potential trouble-makers are):
- you have seen the militarization of US police forces:
http://www.economist.com/news/united-states/21599349-americas-police-have-become-too-militarised-cops-or-soldiers
http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424127887323848804578608040780519904
- Homeland Security has purchased 1.6 rounds of ammo “some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers” http://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphbenko/2013/03/11/1-6-billion-rounds-of-ammo-for-homeland-security-its-time-for-a-national-conversation/
2. Make no effort to feed anyone other than military forces and other key people (and themselves of course)
3. All petroleum reserves to be used only to enforce martial law - and maintain key infrastructure (e.g. keep nuclear plants and fuel ponds from melting down)
4. Wait until most people are dead.
5. Pick up the pieces
C) Conclusions:
Ø I am more inclined to hold gold --- because if the above is correct --- it is highly likely that gold would remain a store of wealth in the new paradigm (but gold will be of no use initially --- only if you survive the multi-billion person die-off)
Ø having a stockpile of food and water to survive at least 3 months will be crucial --- the only way to join the 'elites' in the 'brave new world' would be to outlast the billions who will starve to death
Ø having productive land goes hand in glove with the above - and martial law might ensure that you are left alone to grow your food -- while the 'elites' carry out an accelerated die off by not feeding anyone --- and not allowing them to access food stores and farms through violence.
You lack imagination. Stuck in the feedback loop of Peakers and Doomers you cannot look at history and assess that when resources declines, alternatives were created due to necessity.
Never in the history of mankind has a critical resource been wiped out.
Read for comprehension - Critical Resource. Not the dodo bird.
You argue that it is different this time, but that statement is a joke in financial and monetary and investment and economic circles so why would it make sense when you discuss energy?
You are absolutely right. In three hundred years if you want a quart of oil, you will be able to get it.
Productive land and the knowledge to take advantage of it will be better than a 3 month supply of rations. Did you know you can go on public land and forage? Most people don't know what forage means.
Let's face it. If they go door to door for guns they will do the same for food and whatever else strikes their fancy.
"There are now cameras on every stop light and federal taps on every cell phone for this reason."
Anyone know if tasering the steel standards that hold the camera equipment is enough to overcome the grounding and fry the cameras and photo radar circuitry?
no but a burning tire works. a simple 22lr will do wonders.
Remember no matter how many bullets they buy, no matter how many cameras the set up, there are only about 20 million .gov workers. There are 300 million of us. Long live guerrilla warfare, cuuz hey, it's been around forever and it works.
Too bad Robert E. Lee didn't recognize it.
The author makes a common error. “The American spirit was once firm on the principles of personal liberty, property rights, free markets, and non-intervention.” Such a time never actually existed. The primary function of government has always been to rig markets and transfer wealth and income from the bottom to the top. The key is to observe institutions in terms of how they function, not according to how they are defined.
http://curbsidejimmy.com/freemp3downloads.htm
How exactly did they function in say, 1798? I call BS on your statement. The beginning of this country was a very good start. The system did not let us down in any way. We let the system down and we did that by giving power to others.
You want a world with no system of government? How exactly would you enforce that? It is logically impossible. It is a fallacy. Men need to be governed. It is best when they govern themselves.
Nah, themselves translates into majority rule which results in fanatics voting away my right to drink alcohol or kill myself by eating the poison beans.
How exactly did they function in say, 1798?
They had slaves.
The system did not let us down in any way.
So long as you weren't, say, a native american or a black imported from Africa, or a woman, or a child, or ... well, you get the idea right?
The system did not let its owners down. Nobody else mattered, except as they could be economically productive at low or non-existant wages. Which I think was the point being made that you are taking exception to.
The earth does not yield it's goodies easily. For that reason men must always collaborate. Those that do will always have better goodies than the men who go it alone. When you have the better goodies, you are well on the way to the ability to enslave people to their desires. That. Will. Never. Change.
The future is always unknown. An idea may change the world, like the internet or the wheel. The nature of life on earth is its surprises. Why did the dinosaurs perish? Was it a new genetic order, or just a new idea adapted by some predator? An idea is a mechanism within a brain to change behavior.
The genetic disability in much of the human species is the craving for a leader, with the rejection of millions separate leaders or rejection of their own personal responsibility. This craving causes trust to be placed in some mastermind/charlatan to be omniscient and make the perfect plan. No perfect plan can be planned because of a unknown changing world, unknown changing genetics, and serendipity are the nature of Nature.
The central plans of the common sheeple's chosen and/or obeyed leaders always fail because the sheeple, who by craving a leader, acknowledge their inadequacy to evaluate their leader. Past success is no predictor of future success. Ask a dinosaur. The dark ages lasted a thousand years.
The real enemy of a free individualistic brave new world is the craving of the sheeple for a king, not the machinations of the king wannabes. Men must be changed from a pack of obedient wolves into free roaming bears. To change the world you must create within the sheeple, the idea that a king is a fools choice.
Having a king doesn't have to be that bad. Back in the day, my ancestors might sacrifice the king to Odin or Thor if things weren't going well. I'll bet that kept the kings on their toes.
Having a king is having his plan. Having no king is having many plans. Past success is no guarantee of future success. The essence of our Natural world is the many different genetic choices available to confront an ever changing world. A king is one bet, while individualism is myriad bets. Even the threat of death cannot not make a king omniscient.
Jesus. Again.
"No perfect plan can be planned because of a unknown changing world, unknown changing genetics, and serendipity are the nature of Nature."
Well said!
Question: Do you think so many people crave a leader because they are genetically set up to do so? Or do the systems we are born into play a greater role in generating the fearful victim mindset?
Most of mankind, like wolves are pack animals and some are free animals. Three thousand years ago, the Prophet Samuel told the Israelites, that he and God knew their desire for a king was foolish. In the end, God and Samuel gave them what they craved and let them suffer for their foolishness. (Samuel Chapter 8)
I've observed that most of mankind are pack animals, while a few lone wolves are not. Is behavior inherited? Yes, because this craving has repeated for three thousand years. But like in all species, there is variation because of sexual reproduction. Which part of mankind will flourish? Right now the pack is heading over the cliff.
...Men go mad in herds and only come to their senses one at a time...
One glaring problem is we have allowed the masters to grow large lawless mobs of uneducated violent useless eaters bred specifically to vote, create havoc while encouraging the police state to grow.
So what do we do with a malignant, feral population who simply haven't the capacity to think or reason, much less learn?
This construction effort was intentional and got the masters where they are but now what does a society do with such an overburden of useless eaters if it does decide to throw off the shackles and return to sanity?
I agree we need to return from the abyss but to what?- the growing mass of unthinking "voter/citizens" we are confounded with are not interested in the same ideals we share, they are only interested in getting something for as little effort as it takes them, that element of society hasn't changed in all of human history.
Actually the document was intended for a moral and religious people, what we have now are simply not interested in the things we are.
..or maybe someone disagrees with J. Adams on the subject.
Jesus.
END THE FED

The final segment is the most important, (last 20 minutes).
The Luciferian central banking system of usury will fail. It is of utmost importance for the human population to understand that it was a system of slavery. A system to remove liberty, a system to control your labor and to bleed you of your sovereignty by covet means.
Cog, thanks for a Positive article.
We have become overloaded with Doom Porn everywhere, and for a good reason.
But you have to stop, remember YOU can keep your own chunk of storefront swept clean, and not much else. Spreading the idea of everyone keeping positive is a blessing to everyone.
I go all over the globe. Everywhere I go I see the same thing: TPTB are trying to crush everyone, but the world's folks are tired of the BS.
You know, when I was a kid, you had Walter Cronkite, Mr News. I knew he had been on the scene in WW2. I trusted his stories then. Now we know just how rigged the game was and guys like Cronkite- who I met once- was a great human being, but he promoted the "one-world order gig."
I will find a copy of the book. Thanks.
"Cronkite- was a great human being........ but he promoted the "one-world order gig"."
Great human beans do not seek a one-world order.
Elitists do.
Cronkite was as elite as they come.
FAIL.
..Cronkite was as elite as they come..
agreed.
I believe Lake City was making the point that L.C. like many of us evolved from the darkness of ignorance, not Walter Crankcase..
Lifting the veil or the want thereof is not at new concept. We all know this....and forget....what difficult a journey we all face...just to swim against the current.

"Cog, thanks for a Positive article."
One of the reasons I accepted Joe's invitation to edit this book was because it was positive.....even when discussing potentially negative material. Anyone who has tried to stay positive while writing about hard nosed reality knows this is a very difficult thing to do.
While editing his book I tried to tread lightly so as not to imbue his book with my tone of voice.....which is NOT always positive. :-)
I hope you find much success with this endeavour as it is a noble one.
Perhaps a lone salmon swimning upstream flanked by starving bears on each side of the river would have been a more appropriate cover. Well, you could place a rainbow in the background to symbolize hope.
Thank you kindly. I love the salmon imagery! We have a suggestion box set up: inbox@theindividualisrising.com - please let us know if the cover image is truly inappropriate.
I will buy your book.... to send some positive mojo your way. I will make my own cover once it arrives )
Positive mojo is most appreciated. I would love to see your cover when it's complete!
Don't be fooled, Joe. I'm given to understand that she hates bears.
The embodiment of this movement within the United States will be Twelve Visions Party. A grassroots third-party movement (also worldwide) that seeks to reduce government to its fundamental purpose of protection, thus ushering in an era of boundless wealth, health, and peace for all. http://www.tvpnc.org

I find that (boundless) very naive since we live on a fixed planet.
There is an infinite amount of knowledge, and infinity in the small. There is no reason the planet and humanity cannot both prosper together.
Poverty is the driver of population over expansion.
Wherever reason reigns over religion, the wealth rises and the population stabilizes.
Liberty and reason remain the solution.
The struggle against ignorance and hate continues.
The earth is not a Petri dish and humans are not bacteria.
I wish the preachers of apocolyptic scarcity would just go back to Al Gore's blog to ply their darkness.
I just purchased the book from Amazon. Thanks.
Thank you very much. I would love to hear what your thoughts on it are after you have finished the book.
