US State Department "Confident" MH17 "Mistakenly" Downed By Separatists, Finds No Direct Link To Russia
UPDATE: Having failed absymally with their earlier release of "information," US intelligence officials have tried to give more information... sadly this does not include any actual evidence, just statements and confirmation of YouTube clips...
Senior U.S. intelligence officials cited sensors that traced the path of the missile, shrapnel markings on the downed aircraft, voiceprint analysis of separatists claiming credit for the strike, and a flood of photos and other data from social media sites.
The officials also for the first time identified a sprawling Russian military installation near the city of Rostov as the main conduit of Russian support to separatists in Ukraine, describing it as a hub of training and weapons that has expanded dramatically over the past month. The officials said that tanks, rocket launchers and other arms have continued to flow into Ukraine

“That is not a plausible scenario,” said one senior U.S. official, who noted that American intelligence agencies have confirmed that Ukraine had no anti-aircraft missile system within range of the Malaysian flight at the time it was struck.

So once again no actual evidence... conjecture on 'unknown' recordings provided by Ukraine (ignoring for a moment the fact that the ones that have been released publicly have been proved false). Illustrations of a large Russian military base near the border of Ukraine... well is anyone surprised by that?
With a somewhat shocking lack of evidence, AP reports that US officials (on condition of anonymity) have stated that intelligence suggests Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 was mistakenly shot down by separatists and can find no link to Russia.
However, the unnamed non-proof-providing officials believed Russia "created the conditions" for the downing of MH17. For now there is not even a YouTube clip to confirm this... as officials do not make the new technical evidence public...

Senior U.S. intelligence officials say they have no evidence of direct Russian government involvement in the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.
They say the passenger jet was likely felled by an SA-11 surface-to-air missile fired by Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine and that Russia "created the conditions" for the downing by arming the separatists.
The officials briefed reporters Tuesday under ground rules that their names not be used in discussing intelligence related to last week's air disaster, which killed 298 people.
They said they did not know if any Russians were present at the missile launch, and they wouldn't say that the missile crew was trained in Russia.
A senior official said the most likely explanation was the plane was shot down by mistake.

Strelkov is a beleagured commander in a very tight spot, but to just flat-out state that most of the passengers were dead and stinking on arrival is very odd. He would have to have had previous knowledge of a plot to say that. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't.
The bottom line is; It seems as if Victoria Nuland and John Kerry and the rest of the neocons in America and Israel are having their asses handed to them on a silver platter- and they finally realize it. Thus the retreat from the previous claims.

Yeah... The odds of MH17 going down on the exact same day the Israelis randomly start a devastating ground invasion of Gaza are pretty damned steep, perhaps approaching infinitesimal. Maybe Israel had nothing to do with MH17 and just used it as cover when the news came out, in which case they would have started the invasion perhaps several hours later. If they started the invasion at the same time as or slightly before MH17 went down, that's way beyond the pale. I'll have to look into the exact time the invasion started and the exact time the plane went down.

Okay, but Ukraine army had 4-5 missile launchers connected to radars right where the plane was downed. It is not even certain the rebels had one operational launcher, and they did not have a radar. Remember how high and fast that plane was and was only in range for a short time. How do rebels minus radar engage that plane. No MANPAD can down anything at that height. If this was a rebel shoot down, unlikley, but IF, then who in fucks sake sent that plane right into the combat zone with missile launches and air strikes happening EVERY DAY. WHY and WHO?

Satellite images showing the launch site with soldiers dressed in Western Ukraine uniforms and an entire fully equipped battery of multiple launchers with command centers and radar units attached that moved into the area then moved out after the crash. NSA intercepts between the BUK units and Kiev discussing the missile launch. AWACS radar showing a Ukrainian jet shadowing MH17 and releasing chaff. And of course, the main proof is that they saw it on the Internet.

Here is my thinking - based on my knowledge of Russian ATC system from 25 years ago.
In Russia and in Ukraine airspace is controlled by Military (In US by Civil Aviation). In Ukraine and Russia the flights are not just flying anywhere but through corridors (around 20KM wide). Airspace beyond (left and right of the corridor) is controlled by Military. So restrictions are not just in the corridor, but also outside of the corridor. So, what happens when flight deviates? ATC have to call up his buddy, Air Defense/Military Controller and give him hands up.
Russia claims that flight was deviated 14 km from the corridor – this means that plane was in a zone controlled by Ukrainian Military and + War Zone. Civilian Controller might have forgotten to advice military or Ukrainian Military were suspicious.
Russian also claims there was a military plane – which is probably true since the flight would have been in Military zone, and an interceptor might have sent. Military Controllers might ask them to lower the plane down for visual recognition.
It could have been anyone who might fire a shot, but Ukrainian is more likely. A) It breached route, went to Combat zone B) it was getting closer to the border. So once Washington got confirmation that black box was passed to ICAO and that combined with ATC tapes they heard and Russian claims – they simply don’t have anything to say. That is my thinking. I might be wrong.

If the US govt official response is that they will not say these peeps are directly under the control, or directly trained by the Russian govt IMO that may be a negotiated response between the US and Putin. Sorta like - Putin= "Obama, discontinue this talk that I am behind this event, and I will not release proof the US was behind the AlQ attack in Benghazi (or whatever)", and Obama responds, "OK, Mr Putin, sir, thank you very much for that. I will make sure to not implicate you in this".
