Obama Sued: House Authorizes Lawsuit Against President With 225-201 Vote
Argentina defaults; Russia, Ukraine, Libya, Israel, Gaza, Iraq all in a state of (hot or otherwise) war, the worst Ebola epidemic in the history of Africa, and now Obama is getting sued.
MT: @AP_Politics MORE: House authorizes GOP-led plan to sue Obama alleging he exceeded constitutional powers http://t.co/iaTx9KeVeG
— The Associated Press (@AP) July 30, 2014
And from Reuters:
The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday cleared the way for the launch of a lawsuit accusing President Barack Obama of overstepping his authority in carrying out his landmark healthcare reform law.
The 225-201 vote, along party lines, to authorize the suit will allow House lawyers to draft legal documents over a five-week summer recess starting on Friday.
It cements the action as a lightning rod for months of bitter campaign rhetoric from both Republicans and Democrats ahead of November elections that will determine the political control of Congress next year.
The suit is expected to claim that Obama exceeded his executive authority in making unilateral changes to the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.
And then this:
Pres Obama intends to thumb his nose at the House lawsuit bill by signing another Executive Order tomorrow on federal contractors.

"He is not going to back away from his efforts to use his authority to solve problems & help American families," says WH official of POTUS.
— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) July 30, 2014
If this doesn't send the S&P to new record highs tomorrow, the Fed better find another market to rig.
Incidentally, for those confused, this is nothing but more theater. If the GOP, i.e., the orange folding lawnchair, really wanted to go after Obama, they would have impeached.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the bowels of the Kremlin, Putin is cackling like a madman.

This is all BULLSHIT
A distraction provided for many things- ISIS, Libya, Syria, Borders down, the big propaganda gaffe and cover up on MH17 etc
Obama should have been impeached a long time ago.
This is just a plain circus drama being enacted by stooges in Congress & the Senate
When do Jesse Jackson et al start organing marches to support "America's Nigga" (or is that Kenya's)?
I'm not getting all the hate. This is nothing compared to when Obama issues a blanket pardon to every government official and Democratic officerholder, for now, and perpetuity.
That's will be exciting.
Kabuki theatre.
He clearly has no fear of the consequences of impeachment. What they should do is charge him with treason for failing to uphold his oath of office (by not protecting the borders).
I also think that all congressional incumbents should be thrown out and that fresh blood should run on the promise of charging both the president and current congressional members with treason
Ahhh, that's the rub. The Repubics primary vote turnout over decades is only about 10 percent, so a tiny minority continue to select the most corrupt, lifetime pols to run as the voice of the party. It is no small wonder that the Repubics hate the TeaParty types even more than the socialist Dems. The TP dares to assert any participation in defining their alleged party. Shut up, sit down, and vote for who we tell you to is the Goiter Old Party's credo. I say its better to defeat a GOP loyalist than an open socialist. Better to see the knife comming than to get it in the back. The GOP needs reforming, and if that means destorying every incumbent it will cleanse the Party or permit the formation of a new party or parties.
The diebold voting machine turnout is 100%
Inside every republican there is a democrat waiting to bust out.
the scotus has little Constitional role in arbitraring between coequal branches of gov't. The Constitution spells out the venue for reigning in an abusive Executive Branch. The feckless Loyalists of the GOP have already waived their duty in the matter of a grossly overpowering Executive Branch. Of course the socialists openly waive their Constitutional duties and back their Party's President.
Call me when Jaime and Lloyd are doing a perp walk, until that happens I don't see anything worth batting an eye at. God's work Murica...
Call me when one million, hell one hundred thousand pissed off Citizens decide they'll exercise their God given first amendment rights and crash the white house gate.
I have to agree with George. For such a thinking site, I see very little reasonin when it comes to perceptions of Obama, or the Democrats. I would say the Republicans are far more gone and fucked than the Democrats. They Squeal like little girls every time a corporate power is threatened and they want to go to war under false pretenses left and right to destroy any economy we ever had. Remember Iraq?
I know Vietnam was the same.... sort of... under Democrats, but that was two generations ago. And very different circumstances. Anti-commi was the goal, not just oil profits.
Have a good night.
SFopolis no it wasn't about oil or commies but it was about who controlled the South East Asian drug trade it's parallel today is Afghanistan.
actually, it was about justifying buying more planes and helicopters for the army. As was the whole cold war, and as is now the war on terror or any crusade based on religious grounds.
USA's imperialism has only one root: cronyism.
...cronyism and the weapon industry...
...
Based on your "reasonin", language and objectivity in perceptions of both party's its easy to see your intellectual superiority as compared to most on ZH site.
Obamacare is a big fraud.
In some countries the medical insurance leads to fake higher billings on non-existent diseases so that hospitals make higher money eg. you had flu but hospital may charge you for Tuberculosis becuz its billing is higher. The end result : The insurance co. pays for it but the patient becomes a TB carrier on paper which may entail many problems to him.
but why it is beneficial to insurance cos. ? well they can go bankrupt faster and then ask govt. for QE support ! Simple.
Who doesn't want free money.
The vote is a show for us party proles w/o a clue. I'm suppose to swoon at the prospect of a theater of the absurd perpetrating as an opposition party on the march. I think I'll either not vote in November for the first time in 3 decades or I'll vote for the Luciferian candidate, rather than the 'lesser of the two evils' candidate named Baal. Damn the GOP to hell.
If you have voted in the last 60 years you did vote for the luciferian candidate. Rock on Molech
Indeed I think he should be sued, the charges sealed and kept secret, Obama no allowed to read them or have an attorney, and be tried by a secret jury, and when imprisoned nobody allowed to know and can be held indefinitely ......oh wait that is what the President thinks his powers are.
I think Obama is the worst king America has had since King George III (in defense of King George III, he was mad).
Here ye here ye here ye.....listen all ye citizens of America to Executive Order of the right royal King Obama....I herewith oblish this Congress until further notice and at my pleasure.

More smoke and mirrors bulltwinkle. Does anyone really expect anything of substance to come out of this during the remainder of Obama's term? IF it ever actually gets filed, I'll expect a headline concerning a judgement sometime in 2021.
I don't understand why everyone is so upset about Obama care. It falls inline with everything he said about saving the environment. It kills people, it kills jobs, it kills growth all to help cool the planet. Obamacare saving the planet one death at a time.
Next stop for the uber dignified POTUS on the heels of his latest "stop hatin'" tour stop in Kansas City . Jerry Springer.
Need anything more be said

Open letter to Obama by former intelligence officials: "Release Ukraine Evidence"
Money quotation:
- "We are hearing indirectly from some of our former colleagues that what Secretary Kerry is peddling does not square with the real intelligence".
____________________
Concluding paragraph:
If You’ve Got the Goods…
If the U.S. has more convincing evidence than what has so far been adduced concerning responsibility for shooting down Flight 17, we believe it would be best to find a way to make that intelligence public – even at the risk of compromising “sources and methods.” Moreover, we suggest you instruct your subordinates not to cheapen U.S. credibility by releasing key information via social media like Twitter and Facebook.
The reputation of the messenger for credibility is also key in this area of “public diplomacy.” As is by now clear to you, in our view Secretary Kerry is more liability than asset in this regard. Similarly, with regard to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, his March 12, 2013 Congressional testimony under oath to what he later admitted were “clearly erroneous” things regarding NSA collection should disqualify him. Clapper should be kept at far remove from the Flight 17 affair.
What is needed, if you’ve got the goods, is an Interagency Intelligence Assessment – the genre used in the past to lay out the intelligence. We are hearing indirectly from some of our former colleagues that what Secretary Kerry is peddling does not square with the real intelligence. Such was the case late last August, when Kerry created a unique vehicle he called a “Government (not Intelligence) Assessment” blaming, with no verifiable evidence, Bashar al-Assad for the chemical attacks near Damascus, as honest intelligence analysts refused to go along and, instead, held their noses.
We believe you need to seek out honest intelligence analysts now and hear them out. Then, you may be persuaded to take steps to curb the risk that relations with Russia might escalate from “Cold War II” into an armed confrontation. In all candor, we see little reason to believe that Secretary Kerry and your other advisers appreciate the enormity of that danger.
In our most recent (May 4) memorandum to you, Mr. President, we cautioned that if the U.S. wished “to stop a bloody civil war between east and west Ukraine and avert Russian military intervention in eastern Ukraine, you may be able to do so before the violence hurtles completely out of control.” On July 17, you joined the top leaders of Germany, France, and Russia in calling for a ceasefire. Most informed observers believe you have it in your power to get Ukrainian leaders to agree. The longer Kiev continues its offensive against separatists in eastern Ukraine, the more such U.S. statements appear hypocritical.
We reiterate our recommendations of May 4, that you remove the seeds of this confrontation by publicly disavowing any wish to incorporate Ukraine into NATO and that you make it clear that you are prepared to meet personally with Russian President Putin without delay to discuss ways to defuse the crisis and recognize the legitimate interests of the various parties. The suggestion of an early summit got extraordinary resonance in controlled and independent Russian media. Not so in “mainstream” media in the U.S. Nor did we hear back from you.

A lawsuit? Hahahhahahhahahahhahahahaha!
Mark Knoller is obviously a big time 0bamao ass kisser in the guise of a "journalist" like 98% of the msm.
Now if we could just get a restraining order prohibiting 0bamao from coming within 100 miles of the WH we could relax for a while.
It is always funny to watch a bunch of expatriates complain about a president. Isn't there a problem in Ukraine needing electrons to be wasted on from a rag?
O'who?

"...Kremlin, Putin is cackling like a madman."
You know, it's funny, but I can easily picture that.
Watching the world's greatest stupidpower self-immolate is quite a show.
Gotta make wasy for the global dicktatership that will save us all.
Much more fireworks, virtual and real, to come before our "savior" is revealed.
In the highly unlikely event that this lawsuit were real, you would have to expect key Republicans to be embarassed out of office or to have "accidents" or suicides. After all, hasn't Obama played ball with our actual rulers?
This impeachment nonsense is about the same thing as a censure. Just a political/publicity stunt that is the equivalent of..., well nothing really as when someone outside the political/wealthy elite class does something so egregious that some sort of punishment or reprimand is deemed necessary it generally involves firing, fines and or imprisonment.
Please someone refresh this old fool's memory, wasn't Bill Clinton impeached? Now what happened to him exactly? How much grandstanding, time and money was pissed away engaging in such nonsense that had zero effect on him, the country or the citizen?
Perhaps its time we start demanding that every penny spent by this government has to have a direct and provable positive impact on the American taxpayer/citizen. After all it is the money of the people, not the government. Now it's hard to justify pissing away a single dollar on stupid shit like this, or say a billions upon billions of dollars to benefit other countries. So much treasury is spent on foreign interest, meanwhile the actual taxpayer is taxed to death and the government seems to spend most of its time looking for more ways to extract money from the citizen than engaging in any other pursuit.
Yet, we still have a crumbling infrastructure that has been discussed to death for no less than 30 years and also been used as a talking point to justify pork spending bills that obviously have not gone to infrastructure spending. Gas tax for roads. Now a desire to install a device to track every mile driven and charge a usage fee for it. Right great idea. I thought we had the gas tax, tolls, vehicle registration fees, etc... to cover the cost of road and bridge work. Lets not forget the 800 billion plus TARP package from Paulson and company that was sold as a backstop for the economy and justified as finally using the funds to engage in "shovel ready" infrastructure jobs likened to the old Works Program of the Depression era and FDR.
Banking system, BofA, at the moment is apparently crumbling for lack of capital and this is the time the governments decides to fine them billions of dollars. No sympathy for BofA but it does seem illogical. If they lack proper capital where exactly will they get the funds to pay this fine. You think depositor money isn't being eyed? Want a bank run? That would only make capital controls more urgent and onerous so while it may sound like a good thing, the punitive nature will be felt by all of the citizens, not the bank or bank executives. Be careful what you wish for.
Next, just where does all the money go as a result of these corporate fines? All the banks have been fined plenty, the injured party, the citizen. How did the private citizen benefit from such landmark fines? Who got the fine money and where did it go? Hmmm...
Where did the historic tobacco fines go from the 90's? Microsoft and any number of companies that have paid trillions in fines over the years. Where exactly is that money winding up? As Deep Throat once advised, "follow the money". Facts should be demanded over soundbites and talking points.
Education crumbling. Well it's been crumbling, according to political narrative for almost a century now. How much money has been pissed away on the Dept of Education? Obviously a failed experiement if there ever was one. Does a failed, bankrupt unit of government get axed? Nope, we fund it even more to only hear the same story of education failure in the US.
Dept of Energy set up in the 70's to cut off our reliance on foreign oil. Trillions spent on that dept, yet every year we hear the same old story from politicians of how we have to solve our dependence on foreign oil. Another failed department that keeps getting more funding, not shuttered like a useless and obsolete Victrola factory.
Medicare, Social Security, Education, Energy, Jobs, Defense, Drugs, Crime, Racism, Voter Fraud... Name it and if you take the time to revisit history those are the same old talking points from every politician and political party from every bygone era. All broken at the time, needing to be fixed with new or existing leadership and naturally more funding. The same old talking points, repackaged by the next office seeker/holder for the next election for Senator, Representative, and President and will likely be the same for every generation to come.
The day before JFK was assassinated, reading the Dallas Times Herald and Morning News looking past the pomp and circumstance of the upcoming visit the newspaper coverage was filled with stories concerning the woeful state of affairs as it pertained to education, energy, medical care, population control and food/water availability and even climate. A very interesting article depicting the pathetic and heartbreaking environment that the folks of the Appalachian region have to endure. Well that was 1963. Read the paper or whatever media outlet available and apparently nothing has changed, certainly not the narrative. The only difference is that most of today's voting generation thinks that "back in the day these problems didn't exist". Well that, and the reality that no one really gives a damned about the Appalachian region nor its people. Africa is a bigger priorty. Illegal immigrants garner more sympathy, funds and attention than the people in this region and others like it inside our own borders. In fact, most of the time these particular folks are ridiculed as opposed to sympathized or aided.
The only time the plight of the American people come in to focus is election season. Then and only then does the PR campaign begin and politicians make grandiose statements of how things will be different for Americans under their leadership. After all the parties and debauchery has ended crowning the new king, parties attended by "Hollywood, political and media elites, the American citizen is forgotten unless there is some political need to publicly admonish the very class of folks that helped buy the kingdom and also partied all night with the new POTUS.
The Game never changes and never will. The Game is meant to take advantage of generational turnover. Meaning that voters of today have little to no knowledge or memory of the repetitive nature of current narratives, never realizing these are just old, tired themes, refurbished and repackaged for their benefit leading them to believe these current problems are fairly new and resulted from previous leadership.
Lastly, JFK stated something to the effect of "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you, can do for your country". Hailed as one of the great statements of all time by every citizen and politician, yet apparently only serve as a great sound bite but certainly not words to live or govern by. Empty words as useful as a fart in the wind. He must be looking at his party, the one that hails him as a deity and shakes his head in disgust. Just as meaningful and as useful as "Stop hatin".
Yes indeed Mr. President, "stop hatin" "Hatin'" is a 2 way street sir and you in particular seem to have decided there is only one lane reserved for you and the lane only goes one way, your way and all other people and countries must better recognize and abide.
The next 2 years, be afraid, very afraid. I predict in the next 12 months if Hillary isn't the presumptive president there will be an agenda filled with doing away with presidential term limits. Again, repackaged but not new.
The 1st lawyer to sue W for the 2000 election coup was killed.
The 2nd lawyer to sue W for the 2000 election coup was beat half to death by 2 pros.
Names and circumstances would be helpful for the uninformed and uninitiated.
Not that I doubt you but "statements of fact" like this bear more than just a "hit and run" accusatory blurb. How was the first guy killed and who was it. Who was the 2nd guy and who were the "pros" I assume they were caught being you know they were "pros". If they were indeed "pros" why did they let the guy live? Why, if murder was already done in the name of 2000, why would the pros let the second guy off with only a half to death beating. Why not go for the "whole death" type beating?
Also, not sure what your point is. That the wrong of 2000 or any other election perceived or real by Nixon, LBJ, Kennedy, and or all other politician, political party or election cycle somehow absolves or otherwise justifies bad behavior and bad actors for all future politicians? Hell if that's the case then we are most certainly doomed for all eternity as bad actions will continue, and even escalate going unchecked and unpunished under the protection of past bad acts.
A travesty when unsubstantiated voter intimidation accusations in some state, say like Ohio or Florida or West Virginia all that have been alleged in the past and perhaps true. Certainly true at some point in the history of every state of the union justifies, intimidation in PA engaged by Black Panther Party. I just don't get the logic.
A crime is a crime is a crime. One no less egregious than the other regardless of affiliation and assuming proof exist all should be outraged. Not just one party or the other. If one is not outraged by the bad actions of one person or party that one is affiliated or identifies with then one cannot be outraged when actions by opposition occur.
Example: Patriot Act. All the rage and rightfully so when enacted by Bush. Now enhanced by a thousand time by Obama, the NY Times doesn't seem to care so much about it. GITMO. Not that big of a deal anymore. With this type of selective concern, it's no wonder our society is in the shape it is in.
FORGET THE ACTORS AND FOCUS ON THE ACTS. Either you support the acts or you do not. Shouldn't matter who the actor is.
Check out Google. These guys get paid billions to provide links about public events like this. Somehow I don't feel like doing for you what you could easilly do for yourself. Without verifying it, you'd probably say its bullshit. VERIFY EVERYTHING YOURSELF. Get a grip. This is a blog, not a courthouse.
When you're right, you're right. I don't blame you for not doing the work that you've already done. I just assumed you knew it so well that you had it at the ready and would've taken about a minute to throw down the facts. Mea Culpa. I'm one of those kooks that would view with a jaundiced eye any information provided on the internet, especially a Google link. I've gotten so cynical that I don't take at face value a news article in the "paper of record" the NY Times, muchless any other outlet.
I'm not sure that guys providing links on Google get paid billions though. You are also right that I have gotten so bad that I call bullshit on just about every single "news" story provided. Always a slant, always an angle and always a distortion of the facts in order to lead the reader to the particular narrative the news provider wishes the consumer to believe.
In fact I'm so frustrated that I wouldn't mind having a couple of pros beat me half to death as well. That would get me all the way as my brain tumors are getting more burdensome, it's just exhausting and there are times I'm feel more than ready to fold my tent and be done with this world. Tick Tock. I wonder if this is how women feel when they speak of a biological clock ticking and they haven't had children and feel like they are running out of time. Oops my bad went way off topic. I'll blame it on the meds and will depart the field at this point. I don't see me getting a grip anytime soon. You are right to call me on that as I wish I could just get that grip!!!!
Psych warfare 101: The cheapest way to immobilize opposition is to confuse them. Its all around us. You don't have ADD, you're being attacked Brave New World style. Frustration is draining & disempowering. Getting frustrated wastes time.
Get off the meds. Switch to vitamins & eat right. Unplug from the messaging systems. Take time to count the stars. Get up at dawn, do more sunshine & engage in the natural cycle. Then fight back.
No I don't have ADD, I have inoperable brain tumors. Tick Tock. My time is passed and just waiting for my turn on the "survival timeline" in the ZH tag line. But thanks all the same for the wisdom. It is spot on and fair advice for all. I'm finding its true you regret, not what you did but what you didn't do when it comes down to it.
We all know in the back of our minds that one day we are going to die but we act as if we don't know it until a doctor tells you its unavoidable and we take that news as if its some big revelation. How odd we humans are, or at least most of us, me included. How much time and energy we waste on petty, meaningless shit. Make the most fuss over the most trivial things when viewed from the big picture. I could never see it in the heat of the every day battles. An hour spent at the DMV used to make my head explode. Waiting in line, way too inconvenient. Traffic jams, oh the hardship. Mountains out of molehills really. I was as guilty as anyone, if not more so. Now I'm getting to observe others as they behave in ways that seem silly and I realize I'm looking in the mirror of my former self before being enlightened. What a damned shame to gain all this perspective when its too late to do anything about it.
The rare person is the one that gets it before its too late to enjoy.
This is one of the stupidest moves the RINO's could pull.
Why in God's name would the Congress give up its authority to impeach and instead ask a federal judge (which by the way, is a creation of the congress) to decide for them?
And if the judge finds the Lyin' King "innocent" then what are the RINO's going to do? Answer: just let the bastard to whatever he damn pleases.
He was endangered as soon as it was revealed he was going against the 'american' middle class's will in the Gaza story.
