Organized Community Defense Is America’s Last Hope
Submitted by Brandon Smith of Alt-Market.com,
Not long ago, I felt compelled to address the idea of self defense as a moral imperative in an article titled “Violence In The Face Of Tyranny Is Often Necessary.” My intention was to perhaps undo some of the propaganda conditioning that Americans have suffered over the decades that has taught them that “all” forms of violent action are “immoral”, including the defense of one’s person, one’s property, and one’s freedom.
The recent uprising at Bundy Ranch in Bunkerville, Nev., confirmed my predictions that many Americans are tired of playing by rules chartered by the establishment and are ready to take measures outside of the boundaries set by the system. The reality is that change will never come without consequence and cost, and when faced with an entrenched tyranny, if the citizenry cannot present the threat of physical consequence to their oppressors, the oppressors have no motivation to relinquish power.
To use the schoolyard analogy yet again, it is a fact of life that the class bully will not leave a victim in peace because he is enthralled with the feeling of power over others. The bully will not stop because he has no incentive. Protesting only encourages him. Using the system as a shield only amuses him. Logic and reason only anger him. Punching the bully in the teeth is the only incentive he will respect. If you show that you can disrupt a tyrant’s abuse of power anytime you wish, if you show that you can hurt him back, only then will he take you seriously.
There is a rather insane notion within modern activist movements that self defense represents an abandonment of higher principle. They argue that to fight is to automatically lose, and to prepare for conflict is “extreme.” I would say that self defense is actually the HIGHEST principle one can value, for without the courage to physically resist tyranny, without the will required to put one’s life at risk to stand against the evils of the world, ALL other principles will be lost. Even Gandhi, the man often idolized by pacifists and “non-violent” activists, recognized this fact:
"Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor…"
"When violence] is offered in self-defense or for the defense of the defenseless, it is an act of bravery far better than cowardly submission…"
I believe that the idea that self defense is a morally unacceptable option for dissenting groups is an obnoxiously false one, promoted by the establishment itself and sold to easily brainwashed dupes to steer the public away from the only method that could in fact do harm to the elitist power structure. The holier-than-thou attitude of the pacifists is encouraged as the system plays to their exaggerated sense of righteousness. Good people want to remain seen as good people, and even though deep down most of them understand that fighting back against aggression is not wrong, the peer pressure of the sunshine patriots often convinces them to keep their mouths shut, or otherwise they might “hurt the cause.” I say that without self defense and the possibility of action, there is no cause.
As I write this, I am working during a brief trip to Alaska. I was invited by Stewart Rhodes, the head of Oath Keepers, to check out the logistical progress of a project he has launched in an effort to counter the apathy and inability of the American populace today to present a meaningful defense against a host of threats the public faces in these increasingly chaotic times. The very real dangers of economic instability, poverty, civil unrest, open borders, viral pandemic, and Federal corruption are all factors that led to the creation of the Oath Keepers CPT (Community Preparedness Team) program.
The CPT program is a State-by-State program designed to reestablish the concept of localized community preparedness and self defense measures in case of regional or national crisis, including localized security, medical, food and water supply, as well as engineering and communications: everything a neighborhood, a town, a county, or state would need to rebuild in the advent of unexpected (or expected) catastrophe. The CPT mission is to train groups of people within as many communities as possible to a pinnacle of preparedness knowledge, and then send them out to train other citizens in other towns and counties, replicating their knowledge across the nation as they go until eventually every person has the ability to become self reliant and unafraid.
The establishment would have you wait for help in the wake of a disaster, begging a bureaucracy like the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for aid that you may never receive, when you could be helping yourself and your neighbors without any need for Federal involvement. The establishment would also rather have you unorganized and helpless in the event that they choose to overstep their Constitutional mandate and deny you your inborn liberties.
They do not fear traditional protests and cardboard signs, as movements like Occupy Wall Street end up trampled, ineffective, and mostly forgotten. But they do fear citizens with resolve ready to fight to keep their freedoms, as we saw at Bundy Ranch with the outright retreat of the Bureau of Land Management. When in doubt, do exactly what the oligarchs fear.
I have myself joined a CPT group in my home county in Montana, and I have also seen excellent groups in training in Alaska. The people I have met through CPT come from all walks of life, a full spectrum of ages, and various career backgrounds. Many have military experience, from administrative to tactical. Each person brings to the table an impressive array of skill sets, from science and engineering to security to medical and beyond. All of them have been highly intelligent, effective, and unwavering in their principles, not to mention the finest collection of folks I’ve had the pleasure of working with. If America had to start again from scratch, I would suggest starting with the Bill Of Rights, and the kinds of citizens that make up the core of the Oath Keepers CPT.
The only negative responses I have seen in reference to the CPT concept have come from establishment mouthpieces like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), and from activists with a rabid attachment to pacifism who for some reason feel threatened by the mere idea that other activists might train for the worst case scenario.
In my view, if a goal can be achieved through a purely peaceful redress of grievances, then it should be. However, it is foolish to expect that some evils can be defeated by reasonable speech and refusal of participation alone. In fact, these methods are nothing more than a stop-gap, a delaying tactic in the face of inevitable conflict between those people who desire to control others, and those people who only wish to be left alone.
I find that people who deny this reality tend to be people who have no previous legitimate experience with self defense and preparedness. In the world of non-threatening white-bread activism, they can play at being heroes, patting each other on the back for their poetic speeches and catchy slogans. But as the movement evolves towards real tangible organized defense and proactive preparation, they lose their status as heroes and fall behind the curve. The “intellectual warriors” then have to become true warriors, or otherwise be left in the dusts of history. For some, the change is upsetting, and they tend to take the reprehensible position that NO ONE should be allowed to train effectively for self defense scenarios, lest the movement be labeled as a whole with the dreaded "M word" (Militia). In response to their skewed philosophy I would ask one simple question - If we are doing what is right and what is practical, why should we limit ourselves by catering to the unreasonable fears of others?
I see great hope in the growth of the CPT program and Oath Keepers; perhaps the only hope this country has left. For if we do not organize with our neighbors to protect our communities from all enemies, foreign and domestic, then who will? I also see a welcome alternative to the long failing methodologies of “lone wolf” survivalists, as well as shamelessly recreational protestors.
When people ask me for solutions to the collapse of America, often they are looking for a predetermined top-down magic bullet response. There is no such thing, nor will there ever be. There is no scenario in which we will escape unscathed. There is no cartoon-land happy ending at the finale of this story.
The “solution,” as it were, is ultimately something that many do not want to hear about; namely, hard work, sacrifice and a willingness to put everything on the line for the future. Our only advantage is that we still have some time, and any time is better than no time. What we have left must be used now to the greatest effect possible by organizing together for self reliance and security during collapse.

Allodial title FTW. That alone would change the landscape of this country in ways I can only begin to imagine. Imagine ACTUALLY owning something!
they have it too easy now...... but at least it's a start. However, they are flooding the country with so many illegals who will "rebalance" our standard of living that pretty soon the minorities will be majority and they will think they have it great as long as their is NOT a dirt floor and there IS indoor plumbing......so again I am not seeing this type of resistance come to fruition. The "powers that be" are already five steps ahead of you.
3D printed food recipes, Bitcoin and open source software are the best defenses.
Why do all you bitcoin idiots feel it necessary to spam ZH?
It's like a virtual religion where you can be virtually saved... until the power goes out.
Sounds like the Jesus App on my neighbor's iPhone...
Then we need a community organizer to defend us, and my fears are allayed!
There is a difference between fear and respect. There will always be a difference of opinion but, remember there are too many idiots (FSA or those on the high end of that deal) who could care less. Respect should not be the child of fear. Nor should fear be the result of ones own misgivings.
Now for another beer....
I hate to admit it, but he might be right. In a country where we can no longer vote for someone who isn't part of the system (e.g. a member Council on Foreign Relations, for president); in a country where all ballots are now electronically tallied - and subject to easy manipulation; in a country where corporations are considered citizens and can outspend any and all comers to put who they want in positions of power...it may come to this. Unfortunately.
Also unfortunately: those we would face are masters at this game...and, opposing them with their own methods just puts us on their level, and may just end up in us repeating the cycle, with new leaders in place who would soon become as those they replaced. So...what to do??
Personally? I think we DO need to arm ourselves. I think we DO need to build community. I think we DO need to confront them...but: it needs to be done on a humanitarian level, with compassion - but presenting sharp teeth and a strong backbone. We need to confront those in power from a position of strength, but only so we can stand long enough to reach those who *can* be reached.
Remember: those in power are human too, and only a small percentage are psychopaths who can't be reasoned with. If we could, as one, present a united front while coming from a place of both power and compassion, I bet we could turn many of those who will be charged with fighting us to abandon their posts - or even better, turn on their masters. THIS I believe is where our hope is: our common humanity. And I feel if we don't come from this place when we do confront them, then even if we win...we will have lost.
Agreed. The problem are the ass kissing underlings that are lifers that pull the strings at the behest of 'others'. Surprisingly, those idiots seem to have menial jobs but that is not the case.
If we could organize disobedience on the State and local levels, supported by those elected leaders, there would be hope to starve the beast at the federal level. Sadly, too many of those politicians sold out too.
Sounds good, but power people are depraved and there are more of them in lower positions than what you think, IMO.
Power dies hard, and a low level bureaucrat that can't make a living in Darwin's world will hang on to the psychopath teat out of fear. No help there I'm afraid.
Who you know,
is what you know.
Mr. Brandon Smith significantly overestimates the quality and will of the american people. He needs to step out of his bubble.
There is merit in what is said here, yet where do you put your trust? I think for many this is the conundrum. Every movement that comes along is infiltrated/hijacked by the establishment. Withdrawing economic support would surely make a difference. Of course a large percentage of the populace must come together to be effective. The same would be true of a violent overthrow. Too much diversity keeps us splintered.
Most movements are govt. stings under their control.

When shit breaks down, those with the guns, and more importantly, the will to use them will rule the roost. Mercenaries will only follow orders until the money runs out or the population starts shooting back in earnest.
When the shit really hits the fan, anyone above the level of junior file clerk working in local, state, and federal government will have to learn the "low crawl" real quick or else they will get their heads shot off. Anyone still working in government (especially law enforcement) who hasn't already quit in protest deserves what they have coming.
The problem is like what is going on in the Ukraine. The people pulling the strings - dual citizens are in other countries. Until you cut their control - you will always be fighting a losing battle.
It's why you give most of the grunts doing the work for the man an out. I've been in situations where the local PD would have killed at least one of the guys I was facing. Nobody even spent a night in jail, and some lessons were learned about fucking with a guy minding his own business. I gave them an out. Not only did I have the advantage when it came to the application of force, but they were free to just walk away, with no further consequences. It was done and over with.
It's something about the behavior of the average person that most people need to understand. Cops and government in general sure as hell don't understand it. But once you understand it, you will understand that, if push comes to shove, you might have to swallow the bile rising in your throat and give that crooked-ass cop in your vicinity a chance to lay down his gun and bullet proof vest and just walk away to do something else with his life. You might even have to teach him to grow food. Or, if he can't stand the thought of not being a jackboot, putting a bullet in his face.
I am talking way further up the food chain. The billionaires, Soros, european bankster families who have been backing wars for hundreds of years.
The Black Nobility - they supposedly trace back to being the power brokers over 5,000 years.
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/esp_sociopol_blacknobil0...
Until you get up the food chain then not a lot will change.
Freddie, no one ever concentrates on disempowering the top of the food chain. I guess... how do you even address something which is not acknowledged? You become the madman, rambling about "them" doing wrong.
Regular people don't comprehend the evil behind the concept of enforced rules. What a fucking nightmare.
Exactly. Keep rambling about them and challenging people to do the research themselves if they think it is bullshit. What else can you do?
"Only hope"
Naw, there's a lot of other hope, Tylers, but we just won't find them here. Cuz that shit doesn't sell to this audience.
This place was homegrown fringe cutting edges at one time... ZH went wherever it's comment section took it. Now it's a corporate run fringe blog. And its mission is too keep you fringe. It feeds you articles u must be awake to see, but gives you solutions that make you sound like the fringe lunatic. Or it just won't give you any at all.
Tylers glad most of you don't shop anywhere else, cuz the last thing Disney wants to see from a bunch of so-called enlightened 'muricans' is a solution that might sell. Credibility clap-trap. You Are Here.
Btw, Tylers, I kept the 'robot minimum wage' article in my reading list just for nostalgia of what a boomergoon clientele of solutions sounds like... Back in my day we walked uphill both ways to a McJob, and we liked it. Yeah, yeah. While you're passing laws about cyber security yet u can't text thru your interwebs the rest of us know you're days of "deciding" things are nearing end.
The boomergoon list of solutions is as bad as their diagnosis of our problems... Let alone their foresight.
From the above article...
"When people ask me for solutions to the collapse of America...
The “solution,” as it were, is ultimately something that many do not want to hear about;...
Namely HARD WORK, SACRIFICE, and WILLINGNESS to put everything on the LINE FOR OUR FUTURE..."
LOL. So you need MORE from me eh? More sacrifice and HARD WORK. In other words... More FAITH.
I'm faithed out. Now move over.
I don't think anyone asked you for anything. It's up to you to fight for your own freedom, or not. I expect most of us don't care what you do, or what happens to you, because in all likelyhood, you'll be dead in a ditch before the first week of collapse festivities is over.
Yeah and I'm not "giving" you anything ANYMORE. And that's the whole problem with you people. You fucked up, didn't see it coming AT ALL even though you were 'at the helm' , and now you still act like you have some credibility left. Just cuz you didn't come to geeezus until AFTER your fucking retirement plans got jacked up isn't OUR FUCKING FAULT.
And looking at your track record, if I end up in a ditch it's cuz me, along with this world, is finally laying your bullshit to rest 6' under.
Good rid.
Who is "you people"? Everyone except you is to blame for the state of the country? Okay, let's say that's true - you still have to deal with the problem in front of you, or die a slave. Those are your two choices, regardless of who started the mess to begin with. So, what are you going to do about it?
Who are you people? I'd hope you reply to comments AFTER reading them. But whatever u gotta do to say nothing except apparently I'll "wind up in a ditch."
And there are plenty of "what to do about it(s)" around. But as I said, you won't find that here.
But carry on and "die a slave"... Other than some hoarding advice, you won't find much on "how to deal with the problem in front of" us, here.
I don't see you offering any brilliant alternatives, so I'll ask again; what are YOU going to do about the problem that threatens you as much as anyone else? Argue about who started it before you end up in that ditch that is clealry in your future?
You don't see me cuz this is probably the first time you've "seen me." It's been laid out, many times, by many people here even now, and certainly before your time here.
You just don't and won't read them. Cuz they aren't upvoted to your standards. Or you're challenged. And that usually means what you just heard was no echo. And anything other than echo hurts your ears.
Infinite growth is a relatively new concept here, for example. 20 upvotes a year or two ago meant you just told a dude "he'd wind up in a ditch" cuz "what's a growth model?" Defined as "I don't know what you're talking about so it must be wrong."
Basically it's the same mentality that kept you so headstrong and in the dark for so long in the first place. And now we're stuck with the bill but alls well cuz you finally woke the fuck up and now "get it."
It's this shit that actually keeps modern politics more stable than it should be. Although I could never expect you to see it that way.
"Ditch clearly in your future." And it's a big ditch. You'd know. You built it.
Okay, lets say I "built" the ditch. And now let's say I am going to put you in it. What are you going to do about it? Let's hear an actual plan instead of a bunch of slobbering broad-brushed baseless opinions about me, and we, and us....
Again, what is your solution? Tell us how to get rid of the tyrants and achieve "infinite growth", oh wise one. Lay it out for us. Don't just cop out by claiming that you shouldn't have to explain your great plan because "we won't listen", whoever "we" is.
The fact you think that I, or anyone else I was referring to, wants to actually ACHIEVE Infinite Growth displays just how small that little sandbox you call a worldview actually is. If either of us wants infinite growth, it's you, idiot. You're just too stupid to realize what it is you actually support.
I may as well be speaking Martian to you.
But ok, genius, start by unraveling the phrase "infinite growth on a finite planet." Then, after you cog dis to no end as usual, research exponential growth. Then, a decade from now when u come to terms with that, research rate of extraction. Then, when you're about dead, the rest of us can begin to pick up the pieces of the shithole you left behind in your wake.
It's funny that you mention speaking martian, because your responses are horribly vague, which usually happens when someone has nothing to say, but they want to appear as though they have alot to say. I'm merely asking you to clarify your blithering half-thoughts into something useful. So, I'll ask again, since you are having so much trouble understanding and/or answering the question: WHAT IS YOUR SOLUTION? You keep complaining how no one here is offering the kind of solutions you want to hear about, so why not contribute something constructive instead of arguing in circles like a mindless pre-teen struggling to look rational?
Can you read? There needs be a first step realization of the most overlooked and IgNORED inadequacy of our current system... It was mentioned above. It just wasn't SPOON FED to you so it sounds Greek. To begin any real solution, idiots like you need to come to terms with the above. Otherwise we gotta continue to watch you dumbasses try and squeeze square infinite pegs into finite round holes.
It really isn't Martian, but it may as well be to you.
You've been here over a year and you actually want a solution that ACHIEVES infinite growth.
LOL and people value your opinion. Amazing but predictable.
I didn't ask for a solution that achieves infinite growth, I only asked for a solution from you period, which you have yet to give. All you've done is babble about infinite growth vs. finite growth, without producing a concrete argument of any kind, or a reasonable plan or goal.
Since you have yet to answer my simple question, I think it's obvious you don't have any solutions of your own, which makes you a bit of a hypocrite. You expect Zero Hedge or people on Zero Hdge to present you with the solutions you want hear, but you can't even present a solution of your own. I can't think of anything more sad than a person who blindly lashes out at everyone else for their perceived problems, problems they don't even have the capacity to define, nor the vocabulary or intelligence to explain. You're kind of like Rainman, counting match sticks or cards without understanding the purpose or the mechanics. I feel for you.
"I didn't ask for a solution that achieves infinite growth"
"Tell us how to get rid of the tyrants and achieve "infinite growth", oh wise one. Lay it out for us."
Speaking on intelligence and capacity, how should one interpret those two sentences?
Yeah, "oops" I know.
Listen if you are unable to conduct your own thought experiment and understand the implications of ridding ourselves of an economic model that rests on a premise of infinite growth, then I can't help you.
You can never really understand the problems it causes, or appreciate solutions that result from its removal. You can't fully grasp artificial scarcity, let alone scarcity, or realize the real ramifications of balance and sustainability, rather than growth and scarcity, should they ever be "economically" modeled.
Causality is lost on you... That's why you had no idea WTF I was talking about, and it's why I'm still here explaining it to your dumbass.
So the solution is removing the infinite growth model. Great. How the hell do you propose to do that? Is it some kind of army-of-one secret that you cannot share? Are you just so brilliant that the world does not deserve your knowledge? Are you being paid by OFA or the CIA to disseminate utter bullshit?
Yeah I know, this twat won't give straight answers to the questions but for any undecideds reading this it has to be made clear this guy is as phony as bitcoin.
As usual, intellectual discourse degenerates into defensive posturing via the dominant primal brain normally reserved for fighting and fucking at the top of the pyramid down to involuntary survival breathing and sleeping while the heart keeps ticking, and thus the pugilism cranks up.
Highly predictable, and entertaining. Ain't computer anonymity grand?! Otherwise, we would kill each other.
Answer his questions you twit.
The punch the bully back theory has merit but also can't be practiced in a vacuum. If for instance Mike Tyson is the bully, you've had enough and punch him in the nose, he'll spit his own blood in your face, fuck you in the ass, then beat you to death.
If Mike Tyson is the bully, then you dislocate his kneecap with an aluminum bat when he's not looking, then punch his face in while he's writhing in agony. There is always a way to beat any opponent. His size and strength matter little.
You have it backwards homey.
Beat you to death first.
Unlike the batsman below, I advocate just shooting someone when it is clear they can just beat you to death like a Tyson could.
The old commercial used to go, "Don't take chances. Use Crystal Sugar." We now revise that to "Don't take chances. Just kill them." It works for ISIS, why not someone who is genuinely being attacked?
Or
As the great man Tuco once said, "When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk."
Sorry, their will not be any collapse of America. There will be people that will protect America. The People creating the demise are going to be killed.
I said this several times. The Banking tribe is Dead. They fucking know this. Dispite MSN News, they're a crockroach squirming to stay out of light. Sorry global infrastructure investment groups, the United States of America and City of London has fucked over for Brussels. Likewise, EU has fucked over its allies. One big happy family.
These people will mysterious die without any US MSM acknowledgement.
Bang, bang. Who was that? We don't have any idea. Some dumb fuck who claimed himself as a philanthropist. Watch the show unwind.
After this cleanup, the Zionist are next. We aren't joking Jewish cunts. They are coming for you next. How ballsy do you feel now? Old men who jerk off in the chair and declare control of the country will end up dead. Good bye fuck weed. We are Americans tired of flipping the US taxpayers bill for your genocide wars. See above.
Thank you sir. May I have another?
You said it. They'd shrivel up and die tomorrow if it wasn't for their illusion-spreading MSM media shills running blocker for them.
I post this often but it bears repeating because you/we are not alone.
2013 - 14.6 million licensed hunters in the United States. Probably many with scoped .308 rifles. These people pay for a license to go out and hunt and kill. "It ain't" like a boating license.
http://wsfrprograms.fws.gov/Subpages/LicenseInfo/HuntingLicCertHistory20...
The numbers in some of these states is staggering including "blue" states. NY state has 581,401 licensed hunters and PA has almost 1 million.
Think Bundy Ranch times 14.6 million.
This gets over looked so often.
PA has one million people who, annually, walk off into the cold woods and fire a scoped rifle at a target from a great distance. Familiar with local terrain, being cold, firing from a distance, the sheer act of droning a few of them would cause a national furor.
Yeah because the PA hunters (who are overwhelmingly gray and or even white-haired at this point) are going to form some kind of neopatriotic army. Live in PA and grew up in school district where the first day of Buck season was essentially a school holiday. No longer the case and hasn't been for nearly 10 years. Times change and I grew up deer hunting with gun and bow and hated sitting up in a blind all day waiting to shoot something that went by. No thanks. Boring and pointless with little to no skill involved. Bow hunting actually requires several different skills and I always preferred the old fashioned way of hunting with a group of men where you walk in a line and force the deer to move in a certain direction. Much more communal and enjoyable to me than sitting in a blind drinking all day.
The whole issue on why NRA has been trying to open up gun laws for new markets and trying to get and target minorities and especially women is because the hunting market for guns is one that is tapped out and static with little/no revenue growth opportunities.
"I grew up deer hunting with gun and bow and hated sitting up in a blind all day waiting to shoot something that went by."
"A man's got to know his limitations..."
News flash... your limitations are your own. They may or may not reflect the limitations of those around you. I have a lot of friends that love doing this.
Yep and i'm one of them and surrounded by them it sounds like a war zone out here some weekends.
Well all of the newsmedia and Hollywood needs to be on that list as they were totally complicit.
Fox News is no better than the rest. Murdoch is for amnesty and gun control. He sounds just like Bloomberg. They have all lied about Syria, Ukraine, Benghazi, the rigged elections and everything else.
Thank you LetThemEatRand....you (and Burton, Boris, Miffed, Kirk) are the main reasons I keep coming back. Solid logic, no foul or racist language, and an awareness that both D and R are the same sides of evil. Keep it up !
Fuck you cunt.
Just kidding, where do I deposit my $50 potty mouth fund. I grew up in Ohio. Take a trip into Connecticut. My foul mouth is low key.
God Damn suggestive pretext, edit changed from month to mouth. I need to use my desktop rather than the phone. Enjoy the backyard in Charleston, SC. Off to bed.
+1 because you have good arguments, so I don't care that much if you swear at me.
Contagion will do weird things to every city and state. I figure that the Gubberment is going to go the biological route to cull the population.
This Ebola thing is spreading exponentially now and the timing
fits with the stock market and DOW weirdness too. If contagion ever actually manifests in major cities of the USA things would get to riot stage and beyond. There are not enough troops or domestic police to handle true contagion all over the USA. If contagion ever manifests
the MIC will employ biological warfare to end it. This Ebola pandemic could be intentional.
Just make sure that the people you train don't shoot you in the back when they get hungry. A lot of people at ZH are hoping for disaster because they feel the weakness of their own mortality, and others want to maintain hope in the civility of society. Clinging to these notions can get you killed.
Some people, like myself, are looking forward to a Financial collapse because it will be the end of a DISHONEST and FRAUDULENT system.
Clinging to misinformation, even in times of relative stability, may get you killed.
But there are many more real threats to the end of life than that. For instance you can be out enjoying a drive out to the beach and, after an unplanned auto accident, end up, instead, at the morgue.
I do not believe that anyone is rooting for destruction for fear of their own mortality. I do not see that in the least. But they do want to see an end to the unwarranted violence, wars, and corruption that is being dealt to us, daily, by the Power Elite, regardless if we, or someone else in a foreign land, is an unjust victim of the violence.
Many here are not as self centered as it may seem at times.
Many here actually are empathetic and care about others, because we are so staunchly against socialism.
Just because I am an Anti-Socialist does not make me antisocial.
For my part, living in Brazil, I say this:
You in the USA not disarm.
Bring back to their territory the good people you have.
Hang some politicians and banksters was always customary in revolution.
The rest of the world can not do it, only you.
Just as the French and English kings elected, deposed them (Russians killed the whole family on the bullet).
Today our aim is more selective.
Break the legs of those in priming, stop paying our debts is the solution.
hehe.
Has Boris moved to Brazil?
You're special puff chest out guy still sucks compared to my novice shooter earth, you're just ants so suck it. This may come off as arrogant, well go fuck yourself. We're the fail safe device from you scum. Go ahead bluff my town, do it. Pussy ass no one takes your homos seriously because you will be overwhelmed, I go ill be replaced by another 6 308s thru the face.
You guys really need hobbies like comic books sgt fury and the howling commandos is a keeper.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7rL_j-Swt0&sns=em
Fuck a communist.
Brandon is of course right, people have a right and an obligation in a sense to protect themselves. But in my opinion, if revolution is our goal, the right strategy is to avoid violent conflict at all costs, as it only plays into their scheme of good and bad, black and white, ie, the Fox News view of the world. The key is disengagement. Turning one's cheek, but not in the Christian sense, in the strategic sense.
If we fight them, we empower them, and the vast majority of the sheeple watching Fox and CNN will be convinced that we are terrorists. But if we simply disconnect them, unplug, turn them off, they will deflate and dissolve. The strategy of disengagement AND non-provocaton could leave them wiped out in six months. Imagine for six months, cancel cable contracts, remove all excess money out of the banking system, all savings into gold, silver, etc. No credit cards or debit cards. No bank payments, no tax payments and at the same time, avoid all violent engagement. That is the answer in my opinion.
I spell it out here in this article from a couple of years ago.
http://www.thecactusland.com/2011/10/revolution-or-disengagement.html
Very true....hard to get shot if you don't engage. Hard to go broke if you don't consume. You are wise.
Tell that to the victims of Stalin's great purge. You don't have to be holding a weapon to be shot by one. In fact, you are far more likely to be murdered by government if you sit and do nothing. Pacifism is for people who are secretly afraid. It allows them to pretend as if they are fighting back, when they are actually doing nothing. The last thing tyrants want is for people to become a self driven threat. Tyrants are most empowered when citizens refuse to act, not when they fight back.
Organized Community Defense sounds so much more pleasant than what it really is..
Guerrilla Warfare
When I was younger, which at times seems not too terribly long ago, it was easier to imagine some survavilist future. So it is difficult to know if a gradual feeling of futility is associated with a growing sense of vulnerability or realism.
But I somehow do not think the near future, by near let's go with the next decade or two, is going to be one of communities protecting themselves from government over reach. The issues facing us are societal killers, even planet killers. Don't get me wrong, I have taken such measures as I have deemed prudent... small farm, etc... I have a family, including young members, currently in college, and if there is something to this great reset I have done my best to prepare them as people of strength and character.
But I came to the conclusion some forty years ago, when I was still in college, that man left to his own devices was doomed to destroy himself... an idea that I believe has only been given credence with time.
I do believe that man is not in this alone, but I cannot know that as fact. Yet it is my hope, and it is that in which I place my trust.
We'll... that and the AR 15 I keep within easy reach. Always a good idea to hedge one's bets.
Pair that AR with a 1911 and you've got a real good hedge...
Kick them where it hurts if it comes to that. As to the oath takers. Go arrest one fucking banker or STFU!
This will never come down to bullets.
Reminds me of the politician, I forget who it was, who said all the blood that would be shed in the Civil War could be wiped up with a handkerchief.
Confederate Secretary of War, Leroy Walker... among my many hobbies I am or was an American Civil War buff. I use to think ithe study had some relevance... actually, there was a time that might have been true.
Thanks I have forgotten more than I know.
Bundy is just another member of the FSA and this article is just more proof that ZH has taken serious turn for the worst. If you depend on your neighbor for anything other than target practice you are going die a pathetic death. Fuck you Brandon you lazy bitch. Tylers what the fuck has happened to this site?
This kind of garbage has been on here since '09 and Brandon Smith's lousy, no-nothing opeds have been here for nearly as long.
The ZH financial articles can be interesting but the commentary has gone down hill on them in general with little/no interesting trade ideas. The geopolitcal ones are useless as tit and same with anything US gov't related & their respective commentary most of the time.
The best thing that could happen is the Oathkeepers sit this one out.
One more thing if yall had done your jobs right it could never have gone this far. Stop lying to yourselves.
We're not going to have to fight the current regime. They have destroyed the basis of their power and their global opponents know that time is on their side. This regime will collapse from the outside in over the next five years or so.
After that and if we are not occupied after the “last gasp” wars that we see them trying to start now; we may have to fight the follow on “emergency – constitution suspended government”. We will know that a problem exists if price controls and production quotas are established, government thugs raid producers and seize assets, government murder becomes commonplace, justice continues to be only for “just us” and the asshats dedicated to the policies that got us into this mess manage to stay in power.
Winning is doable provided the combatants and their supporters know what they are fighting for. It may be prudent for various organizations to caucus and determine the basis, form and structure of the follow-on government.
Many would not lift a finger to save the current regime, do not expect them to fight or support combat operations without knowing what they are fighting for.
I agree with Brandon's view that when the going gets tough, TPTB will abandon whatever interest they ever had in the people they purport to represent. They will look after themselves first and last. It has never been any different. Anybody who thinks otherwise is in denial and will become a statistic.
When one considers the actions which are necessary by ordinary people to protect themselves and survive when the empire infrastructure collapses, one must not ignore the actions that will be taken (already are) during this phase to divert attention away from what's happening.
At this point, nobody outside of TPTB closed circle knows how the collapse will be mitigated and handled by them. History tells us that war is the usual distraction used by the power-elites, coupled to some form of martial law at home to control dissent. This is where we see TPTB heading today using Ukraine as a place to start a war with Russia before it moves on to confront China. Meanwhile the DHS is preparing for civil unrest at home on a big scale.
The collapse has only just begun and there's a long way to go.
articles like this make zerohedge seem crazy. Listen if america does default or devalues his dollar massively, things will just be more expensive and life will go on. We arent pakistan or some 3rd world country which has no capacity to manufacture goods.
I think you're probably correct, especially given that the dollar won't collapse overnight.... people will get attuned to a lower standard of living.
Time will tell.
If your faith in the guaranteed continuation of the status quo provides you comfort then continue to believe.
History teaches otherwise, however it is possible that the outcome will be "different this time" - ROFL!
not faith, its just when people expect something to happen a certain way it usually happens the other way, and thats a slow slow decline that will hardly be noticable unless you are an outsider. I mean look at zerohedge for example, you guys have been screaming about the collapse of stocks for 7+ years..screaming that anyday it will happen just you wait...and guess what, it hasnt happened. When the USSR fell there werent people killing each other like some cheesy 80s post apocalyptic movie, people just got poorer and life moved on.
The only that that radically changed was the perception of the world of the USSR that it was no longer a mighty power. Also as i keep saying america still has the capacity to manufacture and create products. we are still the goto for entertainment such as movies. IF you really want to know when an empire declines see who creates or funds the entertainment for the masses, its still america and americans arent watching chinese movies but the chinese and the world are watching american movies. Until that shifts america is still a powerful country
Before i get downvoted to oblivion, i do think there is a paradigm shift coming but not the earthquake people think it will be.
oh and admins of zerohedge please create a mobile version of this site.
“look at zerohedge for example, you guys have been screaming about the collapse of stocks for 7+ years..screaming that anyday it will happen just you wait...and guess what, it hasnt happened."
From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stock_market_crash : “A stock market crash is a sudden dramatic decline of stock prices across a significant cross-section of a stock market, resulting in a significant loss of paper wealth. Crashes are driven by panic as much as by underlying economic factors. They often follow speculative stock market bubbles.”
Crashes have occurred many times in US history – the current bubble will end the same way as all the rest. You can either hedge against it now or deal with it when it happens.
The consequences of a collapsing USD extend beyond higher domestic inflation.
The US is currently the single global superpower and one way or other dictates to the rest of the world as to how it will run. Economically and in other respects. This empire is only possible due to the USD having been imposed as the global reserve currency, which funds a huge military machine to enforce its wishes.
Take away the USD status and the global functions of a giant empire cannot be funded. That has massive implications to the world and to the American nation and is why the USG spends a lot of time punishing and overthrowing governments who dare to challenge the USD.
The problem today for the USG empire-masters is that the number of other governments who are challenging the USD has grown to a point where they cannot all be dealt with. Overreach risks are high. And not least that America's economy has been ravaged by banking fraudsters and assorted criminals in & out of government. Nevertheless, it is doing its best to begin wars with several of the major foreign challengers, Russia & China.
one thing im failing to understand is why China is so silent on the matter of ukraine i mean surely they realize if Russia goes, they are next. Also Russia needs to have alot of blame... it played the isolationist card too long, so it pays by losing the PR game to the gullibles. i am of course thinking about this from a strategic point of view.
It(Russia) didnt go into other parts of world seeking investments, they never bothered setting up bases in other parts of the world. They never bothered buying large stakes in western media corporations or financing media deals, so it has a hard time even winning the PR war, where as, China you have well known movies like scrouching tiger and lots films showing how great beijing is coupled with lots of investments in the west and africa and large infrastructure projects, China is slowly winning the PR war. Because of this it is far easier to demonize Russia than China.
Thank you for putting this into words anyone can understand. This is why the chickens will come home to roost and the street people will loot.
" For if we do not organize with our neighbors to protect our communities from all enemies, foreign and domestic, then who will? "
That's true.
Now, a very long time ago, humans lived in very small communities. In some regions, the communities gathered to form larger ones, probably to protect themselves from all enemies. They finally settled down, forming sedentary communities that grew larger and larger, probably to protect themselves from all enemies. They founded villages, that became cities, ........... which became states/kingdoms/empires growing larger and larger, probably to protect themselves from all enemies ......
What would be the mid/long term outcome of all this, this time ? After proposing some cosmetic changes, revarnishing, ...... what would you have to change to make this world a more peaceful one ?
Governments need to FEAR the people
by John-Henry Hill, M.D.
August 9, 2014
I think Thomas Jefferson, a prolific writer and master of the English language, best described the necessary relationship between a people and their government when he wrote.
“When governments FEAR the people there is liberty. When the people FEAR the government there is tyranny.”
Thomas Jefferson always chose his words carefully. He purposely used the word FEAR, which may be defined as “a state or condition of anxiety or apprehension due to the possibility of personal harm.” He did NOT use such words as "respect, "consideration", "deference", “admiration”, "appreciation" or "honor." He used the word FEAR meaning the possible use of VIOLENCE by the people against government officials through ARMED FORCE. Hence, the insistence on the need for the Second Amendment.
In his other writings Jefferson often repeated this same idea in such sayings as:
“What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?"
“Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.”
“The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all.”
He wrote of the necessity for “refreshing the Tree of Liberty from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants”
“Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of . . . [Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.” – Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence
“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." (Thomas Jefferson)
"No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms." (Thomas Jefferson, 1776)
James Madison proposed a Bill of Rights that included the following:
"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed, and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country: but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person."
BUT: Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts opposed the wording on the grounds that the amendment might be construed as to allow the disarming of people of certain religions.
Tench Coxe wrote to James Madison re-affirming the necessity of adding what we now call the Second Amendment: "As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people, duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which shall be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow-citizens, the people are confirmed by the next article in their right to keep and bear their private arms."
As a result, the Second Amendment was changed to its current wording. Today some Americans assert that the "right to keep and bear arms" is a vestige of colonial times when firearms were often a necessity of life in rural districts and of the need to have various state militias armed and trained for their potential use by the federal government against a foreign enemy. The above statements by Jefferson alone reveal the clear intent of the Founders and clearly demonstrate the recent "revised interpretations" of the Second Amendment as false.
Even as recently as February 1960 then U.S. Senator Hubert Humphrey affirmed, "Certainly, one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. The right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, and one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible."
In short, Jefferson's two brief sentences most eloquently state the only reliable method available to the people for the preservation of their freedom and liberty: FEAR.
“When governments FEAR the people there is liberty. When the people FEAR the government there is tyranny.”

Try Luke 22: 35-38 -
[35] When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, did you want anything? [36] But they said: Nothing. Then said He unto them: But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a scrip; and he that hath not, let him sell his coat, and buy a sword. [37] For I say to you, that this that is written must yet be fulfilled in me: And with the wicked was he reckoned. For the things concerning me have an end. [38] But they said: Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.
REPLY to PrDtR:
According to the most ancient law up to present-day law, you are WRONG in the extreme! You have it BACKWARDS. Silence is NOT golden; rather silence can often be fatal.
Some of the most ancient MAXIMS of law (accepted as irreftable FACT in most courts) are translated as:
"An unrebutted presumption becomes a fact in Law."
"He, who does not object, agrees."
"Silence is consent."
"An affidavit [a man's sworn statement signed under oath] unrebutted point-by-point becomes fact in Law."
"In law none is credited unless he is sworn. All the facts must, when established by witnesses, be under oath or affirmation."
"There is no stronger bond between men than an oath."
“They are perjured, who, preserving the words of an oath, deceive the ears of those who receive it.”
"An oath is a contract in law."
These are but a few of the maxims of law dating as far back as ancient Sumeria, Babylon, Egypt, Judea and Rome, England, etc. – and are still accepted as truth in American courts to this very day.

ADDENDUM: Regarding "what would Jesus do"?
First, I would like to state that I follow no religion, which I regard as myths. However, many religions, especially Judaism and Christianity, contain important legal concepts and principles (especially reagrading "civil law", also known as "contract law") that date back to the most ancient recorded history, long before Judaism or Christianity existed. For that reason alone I have written about a few experinces of Jesus as recroded in the New Testament of the Christian Bible.
The command of Jesus to his followers was "Swear not at all." (Even back then, swearing an oath created a CONTRACT, under which a man could lose some or all of his freedoms AND become subject to the will and jurisdiction of the man to whom he swore that oath.) By saying "Swear not at all.", Jesus was in fact instructing his followers to "swear no oaths" (contracts), thereby retaining their freedom and denying jurisdiction of both the Judean and Roman authorities over them.
Ancient Judea, even under Roman occupation, was a feudal society. It had a crown; it had landlords; they had tenant farmers bound by oath (contract) to them. Jesus scared them silly. Who would farm those lands in the next generation, when all of the people refused to swear oaths? Ring a bell? And what did the government do to Jesus? It tried to obtain jurisdiction on the false oath of a witness, charging Jesus with "sedition" for the out-of-context, allegorical statement that He’d "tear down the temple" (a government building). At that trial, Jesus initially stood mute, refusing the administered oath. That was unheard of!
The judge became so frustrated that he posed a trick question attempting to obtain jurisdiction from Jesus. He said, "I adjure you in the name of the Living God, are you the man (accused of sedition)." An adjuration is a "compelled oath." Jesus then broke his silence, responding, "You have so said."
Jesus didn’t "take" the adjured oath. He left it with its speaker, the judge! That bound the judge to truth. Had the judge also falsely said that Jesus was the man (guilty of sedition)? No, not out loud, not yet. But in his heart he’d said so. That’s what this trial was all about. Jesus tossed that falsehood back where it belonged as well as the oath. In those few words, "You have so said," Jesus put the oath, and the PERJURY of it, back on the judge, where it belonged. The court could not get legal jurisdiction over Jesus.
The Judean court then shipped Jesus off to the Roman martial governor, Pontius Pilate, hoping that martial power might compel him to submit to jurisdiction. But Pilate had no quarrel with Jesus. He correctly saw the charge as a political matter, devoid of any real criminal act. Likely, Pilate offered Jesus the "protection of Rome." Roman law extended only to sworn subjects; NO man throughout the entire Roman Empire who had NOT sworn such an oath was portected by Roman law. All Jesus needed to do was swear an oath (a contract) to Caesar, then under Roman law Pilate could protect him since Jesus would have consented to Rome's jurisdiction over him. Of course, Jesus refused to swear such an oath, since it meant the loss of his freedom.
Under Roman law any government official who errantly extended the law to an unsworn person was legally considered to have committed a "failure of jurisdiction". Under Roman law tha official was then required to perform a symbolic act of "cleansing himself". To cleanse himself and the law, that official would "wash his hands." Even today, when a person has decided to remove himself from a controversy, he will sometimesw state, "I wash my hands on this matter." In essence, he man is saying he has waive any jurisdiction regarding that particukar controversy. Pilate did so. Under Roman law, the law to which he had sworn an oath, he was required to do so. The law, neither Roman law nor the law of Judea, was able to obtain jurisdiction over Jesus. The law couldn’t kill him, nor could it prevent his murder, as he was outside the jurisdiction of both Roman and Judean law, and consequently the Roman and Judean legal authorities had no obligation to protect him. Jesus was then turned over to a mob, demanding his death.
HE was not silent when he drove the money changers from the temple.
.."If you don't have a sword, then sell your robe and and go get one"- paraphrased out of memory.
..you can take that advice or ignore it.
Evil destroys itself. Watch how the Egos at the top annihialate themselves.

Where do you find such cliches containing this "mystical nonsense"?
Where and when in history has "evil destroyed itself" ???? All the history that I have ever read reveals just the opposite: that so-called evil is destroyed by its opponents through the use of armed force and/or the threat of armed force.
Mao Tse-Tung (Zedong) said it best: "All political powers comes from the barrel of a gun."
Everything else is philosophical bullshit, aka, "mental masturbation".
" All the history that I have ever read reveals just the opposite: that so-called evil is destroyed by its opponents through the use of armed force and/or the threat of armed force. "
Yes, that's correct....... but on second thought, it seems that very often, those who topple down "evil" people through the use of armed forces don't necessarily reveal themselves much better, in the end ......
And if "evil" was not evil, maybe it would not generate an opponents who would want to destroy it......so, maybe it's true that, one way or another, "evil" ultimately destroy itself.
Maybe, this formula : "evil destroys itself" has more to do with cybernetics, and we call this "mysticism" because we can't generally grasp all of its implications.
By the way, did you know that when you gather "evil" people, they tend to easily conspire against one another ?
REPLY to daemon:
That is precisely why I used the term "so-called evil". Like beauty, evil is most often in the eye of the beholder.
McKenna is an idiot.
Modeled after SF A Teams? Oh boy is this going to bring out the idiots. SF A Teams are designed to be inserted and create a government destabilization force...rebels. Ultimate purpose is to overthrow the existing government. If a disaster/collapse occurs the priorities will be shelter, food, water, sanitation ( this is actually huge) and medical. Yes, security is important, and everyone should go to an Appleseed event and learn how to shoot if they haven't been trained. Remember Katrina? Majority of the police force collapsed because they needed to take care of their own/family needs....now multiply that across 20 plus states and see what happens. Want to see what to do...study the Amish. Power goes out and those folks wont miss a beat. Teach your neighbors how to provide their own food and water...they wont loot you. Sure there will be idiots out their...but they flee at the sight of pissed off people with guns...no fancy tactics needed.
( been through 6 hurricanes..I know the deal).
Papaswamp, I agree with your points, heartily.
However, I'm more concerned about National Guard and militarized police going door to door to effect mandatory evacuation, disarmament, and other herding against which the only defenses are submission or death against overwhelming firepower. You saw that in Katrina, too.
I don't know that I will condemn my family to death to stand against the tyrannical consolidation. How many here are sure that they will, and among you who say so, what decisive actions have you taken recently to destabilize the growing menace? Blown up any broadcast towers? Sniped any road blocks conducting random searches? ... Probably not, what then?
Or, are we really to wait until they come to our neighborhoods with armored personnel carriers and automatic weapons and hope that we can defend ourselves?
Still, I'll check into the local Oathkeepers, if there is one.
Large scale collapse and they wont be showing up,at your door especially the National Guard. Im not talking a problem in 2-3 states (ex. hurricane). i'm talking about 15-20 states with a disaster or nationwide. Katrina over 80% of the population had left the city. The complete collapse was with a mere 20% (~96,000) of residents remaining. Multistate collapse will not see the government rolling in in 3-7 days time.
National Guard wont be showing up. Most armories have on hand little to no ammunition and supplies on hand. It must all first be shipped in. Most likely they will hole up at the armory with their families and even then it will be at reduced force strength. Again, local and regional police wont be an issue since they will be in the same boat as everyone else. Fuel will run out in a few days with the break down of the transportation system. Frankly, there will be too many other things to deal with than being able to go door to door in a multistate/national disaster.
Ask yourself what size force would be required to handle a major disaster in a major metro area isuch as Atlanta and surrounding suburbs.... Now extend that to include just 3 -4 other major cities. It aint gonna happen. The existing governments will be too consumed with merely taking care of themselves and trying to keep some sort of infrastructure functioning.
absolutely correct
+1
Fuel, water and food. If they are as evil as we think they are, they will use biologicals. Look at The Ukraine and what they have been using on other Ukrainians. They are the same dual citizen people running the USA.
$1 trillion spent on defense and the military has no clue and supports our junta.
More idiocy who thinks the world will break apart. The last place I want to be around is a bunch of violent ex-military folks who think the answer to any problems is with a gun and anyone who disagrees is subject to repraisal especially through armed force.
What is useful is to learn how to effectively garden and raise & preserve food (good example is learn what life was before widespread refrigeration after WW2 when Americans ate a completely different diet), produce/recycle/reuse items, trade services and time in kind, and in general form strong social and informal bonds with your neighbors and local community. It is what got people and neighborhoods through the Great Depression.
And just how do you plan to protect that garden, your home, loved ones and yourself when the entitlement hoards (whores?) go rampaging and looting? Have you noticed the invasion of illegals, many of which are criminals streaming across our border?
How many stereotypical nonsense and hyperbole can you fit into one post?
The media tries to hide it, but the rampaging has already begun. I hope you do not have to regret your thinking when the "noble savage" is standing over your dying body.
I think his point is that the "noble savage" may just be that military guy...or the EBT'r. Family. We got a small army worth and we know, trust and love each other. Those are the wagons we will circle.
OK. Damn right.
" And just how do you plan to protect that garden, your home, loved ones and yourself when the entitlement hoards (whores?) go rampaging and looting? Have you noticed the invasion of illegals, many of which are criminals streaming across our border? "
Thanks for the info. I didn't know that :
-Wall-Street bankers,
-militaro-industrial complex corporations,
-big pharma corporations,
-agro-industrial complex corporations
.... all were "illegals" .... I did know, though, they were criminal.
I will go to bed slightly less ignorant.
I suspect a few days after the collapse, the subburbs and small farms will be visited by a dangerous and desperate mob much like what happened in Weimar Germany when the currency collapsed. This from an eye witness at the time:
“In the cart I saw three slaughtered pigs. In addition, some pieces of slaughtered cows and pigs and a few dead hens were lying in an untidy heap. 'My God, my God', wailed my aunt. 'What will things be like at home?' … Two gendarmes accompanied us in order to ascertain the damage. 'If only they didn't always destroy everything', said one of them. 'As for their being hungry, that's not surprising'. We were prepared for the worst. The gates of the farmyard were wide open. There was not a sign of the servant girls. A pig seriously injured but still living was lying in its own blood in the yard. The other pigs had run out into the road. The cow-shed was drenched in blood. One cow had been slaughtered where it stood and the meat torn from its bones. The monsters had slit up the udder of the finest milch cow, so that she had to be put out of her misery immediately. In the granary the store of grain and fodder were in a state of wild confusion … a rag soaked with petrol was still smouldering to show what these beasts had intended. In the kitchen-living room of which my aunt was so proud not a thing had been left whole. Uncle estimates the damage at 100,000 peace kronen, and no insurance company will pay him any compensation for his loss.” When Money Dies: The Nightmare of the Weimar Collapse by Adam Fergusson P. 106
I recommend you meet some ex military. You may find they are the ones who look at force as a last resort, not the first.
Excellent video everyone should watch:
KILLING HUNGRY NEIGHBORS in a SHTF. How much ammo will you need in the COLLAPSE?
"The “solution,” as it were, is ultimately something that many do not want to hear about; namely, hard work, sacrifice and a willingness to put everything on the line for the future. Our only advantage is that we still have some time, and any time is better than no time. What we have left must be used now to the greatest effect possible by organizing together for self reliance and security during collapse."
Don't believe we have time left to change the minds of the majority they will volunteer themselves "for removal". But for those who have been taking this seriously for the past few years you will only be far better off compared to the rest of us!
Says everything. I only wish there were more posts like it up to the present condition that we are now in.
Thanks ZH
i have sat in traffic jams on interstate and toll roads in the chicago area. If shtf and you are trapped in your car,,, you cant carry enough rounds to protect yourself if you are of the wrong color and shit truly goes upside down. We are in survival mode every day of our lives. If you think not dont pay your mortgage or property taxes or utility bills.
We learn to survive in the system we were raised in. If The Creature from Jekyll Island was required reading in 12th grade classes across the nation we may have some changes finally but I won't hold my breath.
Our system is broken. We 50% who arent in free shit army or on government teats of municipal jobs and pensions at every level can no longer support this system. I just wrote a project for a retired Fed worker. On her credit app her fed pensoin until death is just under 7k a month. I don't care what she did for work for them,, that is insane. It is unsustainable, just as GM cannot possibly pay 1.4 million retirees pensions and benefits while only employing 334K active employees producing products that sell. Simple math with that says they are paying four people to do one person's job and all the robotics in manufacturing cannot make up for that. That my friends is a failed business plan and failed business plans usually result in failed businesses.
I dont have the answers. Being armed is nice but the only mugging attempt I have experienced happened to me so quickly I would not have time to have drawn my weapon. A man put his hand on my shoulder pushing me into my car from behind. The only alert time I had was a real strong smell of alcohol and this was 530 Am and i was at a gas station. All i had time to do was backhand him in the nose as hard as i have every hit anyone. He feel to the ground as i drove off.
We survive every day. One day you won't. From the day you are born you are dying. I have 3 daughters,, 3 sons in law,, 5 grand kids. My health. I found the only woman on earth that would put up with me so I married her. She is still here for some reason. I have neighbors I know and trust. I work my ass off and have for 47 years. I will share my last meal with you but never steal from me. I don't recognize my country when I look around. I do know this. Every day is a gift and if you treat it as such if some day the sky is falling look up,,,, and face it like a man. Be ready,, be vigilent, be aware but enjoy the ride,, we only pass this way once folks. good weekend to all.
"A Failure of Civility" is a book by Mike Garand and Jack Lawson that provides guidance for setting up a community defense. Their site is www.afailureofcivility.com.
The failure of society can come from more than one direction. I live very near the Gulf Coast in AL and that means that hurricanes are expected every year. CA has had and will have major earthquakes; TX, LA, MS, AL, TN and many other states have tornadoes every year. The north east and mid west have blizzards that can bring them to a stand still (I suppose that may not be a bad thing).
Being prepared is an action that does not require a direct governmental collapse.
Well thanks to the efforts as such fucktards as Lord Obama and his grandma Feinstein...................these ideas are going to be very difficult if they keep trying to disarm us.
And speaking of cunt disorderment fkstein..........how long is that goddamn fucking bitch going to live??? I swear there gona be wheeling her into the building dragging a poop bag and heart monitor with her before long.
Fucking die already.
God forbid if transhumanism is farther along than we're told!
I really think we'll get in a full blown war before we get rid of this cancer. They just won't go away and will risk it all to stay in power over us at any and all cost.
Shits a comin.
We all have to be the first responders to unforeseen events and predictable problems. Cops and Fire will get there to clean up the aftermath and take a report. And in a severe problem the service providers will be overwhelmed or focused on their own families. It is every citizen's responsibility to be a well prepared first responder to take care of themselves and their neighbors. It is a simple rule: good citizenship comes from basic preparedness and self reliance. Nothing scary about that.

After the fall election Obama will begin his campaign for full firearm confiscation. Obama will pick any provocation in any state called “gross firearms” misuse (probably involving a child or youth) to start the confiscation process using his pen. The first step will be an all out media blitz for months on end using Saul Alinsky public shame methods to wear the public down.
Obama will then after months of blitz pen a full public campaign confiscating all firearms. These firearms will be immediately turned in to government offices. We can expect a couple 100,000 deaths from non compliant people but most sheeple will comply rather than go to jail.
The object of firearms confiscation is to take the “teeth” out of programs like Militia’a, CPT and Oath keepers so future protests mean little. The only way to give Big American Government tyrannical powers is to confiscate all firearms. Once firearms are gone from America then Big American Government will hold sway and no longer have any fear of its citizens. They will begin to dictate their will regardless of who we elect.
You say it can’t happen in America? Ask the people of Britain and Australia how they took their firearms…
I'm thinking that this world will have so much shit coming down that oBUMMER weasel fucker and all of his minions will have too many other worries by then.
The CPT is a valid and necessary solution to the increasing reality of a tyranical police state (get ready for the Bolshevik takeover of America). Anyone who doesn't see it coming is blind, deaf and ignorant.
We can't do anything at the top because the system is totally corrupt. But we can and must do something at the community level. What good is 200 millon armed citizens who have no communication with each other? They will be murdered one by one as is happening right now with SWAT teams.
Organization within communities for Neighborhood watch, prepping, and most important realtime communications to inform what is happening so people can organize a timely response to attrocities.
The gov is ready to take your savings, your guns, your gold and your freedom. Better be prepared!
GROSS misread on Americans, and what they will supposedly accept like sheep, regarding the 2nd Amendment,
I find it odd and very hypocritical that most commentors on this site reserve this right for themselves yet deny it to others half way around the world. I'm sure that all the useful idiots and willing collaborators of Hamas will pounce on me in short order when I say:
Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood ARE the ultimate neighborhood bully and Israel is the ultimate form of organized community defense. Hamas, the MB, ISIS, their financiers and all their state sponsors must be treated in exactly the same way described in the article.
Another missile alert just issued. You now have at the most 60 seconds to get to your bomb shelter. That's #12 alert of multiple missile launches from Gaza today...so far....
i think you got the bully and community defence backwards. lol
Incorrect. Too much Al Jazeera and CNN will do that to a person...
LOL! ALL of TV and Hollywood is for idiots.
Israel is backing the Brits, USA, Saudis, Qatar and Turkey in attacking Syria including killing innocent Syrian Christians. Syria being one of the first places in the world to adopt Christianity. Who came to Syria's aid in this State Dept dual citizen genocide war? Russia, Iran and Hezbollah.
The same thing is happening in the Ukraine with your dual citizen types.
Sorry....wrong.
Qatar and Turkey back Hamas and ISIS.
Saudi Arabia once was, but is no longer, a main financier of the Muslim Brotherhood. Now they see how out of hand everything's become, they have backed off of that - big time. You still have very rich individual Saudis who fund them, but they no longer have SA as a state sponsor. This change of heart, however, does not absolve them from past crimes. Remember, policy and national alignments shift in the region like the sands of the desert. And you can never buy an Arab, only rent.
Iran came to Assad's aid because he's Alawite -a Shia sect that rules a Sunni majority in Syria. It's the old Shia vs. Sunni thing. Russia joined in because Iran is their ally and therefore so is Assad. Besides, why pass up the opportunity to make President Zero look like a wuss.
And Hizbollah and Iran are quite happy to see the Sunnis fighting each other and Israel. And killing, raping and pillaging of all things infidel is just the cherry on top. And while the world is distracted by all the turmoil, they forge ahead with their plans for nuclear weapons, regional hegemony and world domination.
We play the short game and they play the long game.
Those who refuse to seek the truth rather than accept the government and media lies still see Israel as the agressor. The Obama administration has waffled on the issue but most Americans know the truth and support Israel.
well Brandon reading the comments here i'd say you've got your work cut out for you.
getting amis to do anything in a group effort is like herding cats. good luck.
Funny article. Ever watch "The Walking Dead"? In the case of any major, national emergency, THAT is your "community." "Should I shoot them and take their stuff before they shoot me and take my stuff or be a nice guy, get shot, and they get my stuff." Perhaps you've noticed that Rick says, "stuff" a lot.

Three years into a Zombie Apocalypse and the problem won't be Zombies - it will be that all canned goods and most stored food (Preppers aside) - will not be safe to eat - and few will be growing, canning and SELLING extra food.
Canned food is safe indefinitely. There's stuff been opened up 100 years later & it's still edible.
Want Real Change in America?
Want REAL political, economic and social change? A change that any ordinary person can take part in? No, NOT a violent revolution, which can easily be suppressed by armed government force.
Rather, a program of randomly targeted executions of the financial and political elites. Examples: Warren Buffet; Janet Yellen; Bernard Bernanke; Jamie Dimon (JP Morgan); Christine LaGarde (IMF); David Rockefeller; Lloyd Blankfein (Goldman-Sachs); John McCain; Harry Reid; Hillary Clinton; Mitch McConnel; Mark Carney (Bank of England); members of the EU Commission; family members of any monarchy; CEOs of Walmart, Shell Oil, Exxon, Monsanto; CEOs of every large bank, heads of the IMF, World Bank (WB), Bank of International Settlements (BIS); all members of the Rockefeller, Warburg, Schiff, Rothschild and other banking families; and so on.
When EVERY political and financial elite FEARS FOR HIS LIFE when outside the confines of his home, then you will see some change. When these folks understand that they may be killed by ANY member of the public at ANY time, then you will see them make offers to compromise. BUT have no false hopes: they will never give up. They will simply offer the people a brief respite from their serfdom - a compromise to get the people to stop killing them off.
Thomas Jefferson wrote, "When the people fear the government, you have tyranny. When the government fears the people, you have liberty."
The key word Jefferson used was FEAR: the elites must truly FEAR the people for true freedom to exist. Voting and everything else is just political masturbation!
There used to be a video on youtube where a high school teacher was giving a presentation to students on the order of authority in the hierarchy of the U.S. government, as intended by the framers. I can't find the video anymore but the intended order was something like this:
God (for lack of a better term) gives inalienable rights to > man > city government> county > state > federal
what we have is the exact opposite
Federal gov't> state> county> city >man> no inalienable rights in this order(at least not that you could exercise realistically)
May I add a little ammunition here?
More than 50 years ago, I discovered the country was occupied by thieves, and that their main instrument of plunder was the Federal Reserve. I reasoned that, as long as we used their scrip and banking system, we provided resources to them to finance our destruction. I thot an alternative to the FR was needed; so, I established a gold-base banking service and operated it for 28 years. Toward the later part of that time, it finally occurred to me to search our history books for men and eras that advanced the cause of liberty. I found a history, law and procedures I never suspected. I found the only historically-proven method by which men have advanced liberty. Of the thousands of slave uprisings in our long story of man, only three have employed this method (Athens, year -508; England, 1620-1650 and America). And Americans today know virtually nothing of this method, nor its law and procedures.
The English first declared their right of redress 1215 in their Magna Charta (section 61); and it took them 400 years and oceans of blood to develop reasonably effective procedures to redress their grievances.
Americans have no knowledge of these lessons. So, their choice is between trial and error (400-500 years and oceans of blood) or to study my findings (2-5 years with fewer oceans of blood).
(Follow my other comments: click my name, thanks.)
Oathkeepers is a scam to make them feel good about the nasty shit they done. They need to answer for a lot of crap.
Sorry. But it is what it is. They had a job to do. They failed at it. Right now these oath takers are looting the country.
If you try and organize at any level you are a threat. Oath takers did Waco. They take peoples homes. They dont touch John Corzine or the tan man. They have spoken thru thier actions. Some of them were gaurding poppy fields. All of them took an oath to defend the C and BoR. Yet it is used as toilet paper.
I offerd to talk to Stewart in a public forum. He passed. I ask again Stewart come on ZH and answer the important questions. Accountability matters.
Shit breaks I fix it then I get paid. Not before I fix it but only after.
The concept of a community banding together in a time of crisis is equally glorified with the lone wolf survivor or with the idea of a super bunker with all the comforts of home. All of these are just myths if the SHTF. A community cannot survive on its own in isolation and if it does have enough resources to survive for a while then you can bet martial law and the government is going to come to take food, weapons and ammo away -- if a large well armed gang doesn't beat them to it. Same thing with a bunker - you will be found and you are likely trapped inside.
While I do suspect a dollar collapse and bail-ins to wipe out savings (and debt), many countries have gone down this 'collapse' route and government services remain (including police), food is available (for a price), and most people go to work and get paid something. Think of something like 'old dollars' and 'new dollars'. The big issue is that the old dollars become worthless and that there will be shortages and/or higher prices for products.. So do you need a community? Or do you need PMs and a small stash of food and other essentials?
We need accountability. All of this crap stems from that single fact. We could just skip the reset. Just throw the real bad guys in jail. It is that simple.
An organized community may be our last hope, as the community organizer is responsible for the fucked up conditions.
up close, use a shotgun. if the target is wearing body armor, aim for it's head, neck, and groin...
I moved to a new neighborhood 4 years ago and 1 lady (a realtor ) came and said hi. I have since meet 9 of 13 neighbors on my block. None hunt, One old guy did hunt when he was young, 3 conservative, single woman, old woman, and a drunk. The rest libtards that will turn me in. I need to expand my community or I'm in trouble. No one is prepared for shit. 5 households are somewhat overweight, I guess they will last the longest.
I do agree the lone wolf strategy is flawed.
Hey never thought of it that way before. Good idea. "I'm not fat I'm just prepping!"
Only the [very] rural will survive.
Take actions in advance... or die.
Small pockets even in large cities might do better than expected. Even in the riots the Koreans made a fine stand all by themselves. The ones that do make it thru the first stages could run the table so to speak.
