The dollar itself has been kept alive by the central banks of the world who bought and kept our treasuries rather than returning them to the US for goods. That kept the hyperinflation that should have begun on August 16, 1971 from happening.
Now, for a variety of reasons the entire world has stopped buying treasuries. They are not selling them but buying of new issues is flat even if they do roll over existing bonds.
The question is: how long before hyperinflation is manifest as the US government continues to spend $40 billion a month abroad and has no one to keep those dollars from being spent into the economy? Something has changed. The real clock is ticking. This time we have no support from Europe or China or the developing world. We spew those dollars out like sewage and it is already beginning to stink. This time we can actually see the end.
