French Government Denies Report Of "Several Ebola Cases"; Outbreak Accelerates At Fastest Pace Yet

Tyler Durden's picture

Last week we noted the 'exponential' nature of the cases (and deaths) from Ebola. This week, according to the latest death and case counts from the WHO - the trend has got exponential-er - with 69 new cases and 52 new deaths in the last 2 days. With health workers dying at a fast clip too, it is little surprise that rumors of an outbreak in France were quickly denied by the government. As FranceTV reports, Patrick Balkany, citing "reliable medical sources" claimed that that "several cases [Ebola] have been reported on the French territory." The Ministry of Health rapidly denied any cases of infection in France.

The trend of the outbreak just went even more parabolic...

  • WHO SAYS 69 NEW EBOLA CASES REPORTED IN 4 NATIONS AUG. 7-9
WHO SAYS 52 DEATHS FROM EBOLA REPORTED IN 4 NATIONS AUG. 7-9

Cases...

Deaths...

As FranceTV reports (via Google Translate),

He cites "reliable medical sources" but does not specify which ones. In a statement published on its website, Patrick Balkany says that "several cases [Ebola] have been reported on the French territory. "

"So I asked the minister today, in a written question to be published in Official Journal in the coming days, kindly tell me how many cases with Ebola virus have so far been identified in France " , thus commend the deputy mayor of Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de- Seine).

Contacted by The Scan of Figaro , elected UMP confirmed his remarks. "The ministry was informed by my sources and it is still curious that we do not have response."

The Ministry of Health has also denied any cases of infection in France.

No way they can keep it quiet for long. 24 hour shifts 7 days per week for care is too many health care people and their relatives. And while you can tell them to be quiet, someone will leak.

Case Definition for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)

Updated: August 7, 2014

Early recognition is critical for infection control. Healthcare providers should be alert for and evaluate any patients suspected of having EVD.

Person Under Investigation (PUI)

A person who has both consistent symptoms and risk factors as follows: 1) Clinical criteria, which includes fever of greater than 38.6 degrees Celsius or 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit, and additional symptoms such as severe headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or unexplained hemorrhage; AND 2) Epidemiologic risk factors within the past 21 days before the onset of symptoms, such as contact with blood or other body fluids or human remains of a patient known to have or suspected to have EVD; residence in—or travel to—an area where EVD transmission is active*; or direct handling of bats, rodents, or primates from disease-endemic areas.

Probable Case

A PUI who is a contact of an EVD case with either a high or low risk exposure (see below).

Confirmed Case

A case with laboratory confirmed diagnostic evidence of ebola virus infection.

Contacts of an EVD Case

Contacts of an EVD case have different levels of exposure risk, as follows:

High risk exposures

A high risk exposure includes any of the following:

Percutaneous, e.g. the needle stick, or mucous membrane exposure to body fluids of EVD patient
Direct care or exposure to body fluids of an EVD patient without appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Laboratory worker processing body fluids of confirmed EVD patients without appropriate PPE or standard biosafety precautions
Participation in funeral rites which include direct exposure to human remains in the geographic area where outbreak is occurring without appropriate PPE
Low risk exposures

A low risk exposure includes any of the following

Household member or other casual contact1 with an EVD patient
Providing patient care or casual contact1 without high-risk exposure with EVD patients in health care facilities in EVD outbreak affected countries*
No known exposure

Persons with no known exposure were present in an EVD outbreak affected country* in the past 21 days with no low risk or high risk exposures.

1 Casual contact is defined as a) being within approximately 3 feet (1 meter) or within the room or care area for a prolonged period of time (e.g., healthcare personnel, household members) while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment (i.e., droplet and contact precautions–see Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations); or b) having direct brief contact (e.g., shaking hands) with an EVD case while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment (i.e., droplet and contact precautions–see Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations). At this time, brief interactions, such as walking by a person or moving through a hospital, do not constitute casual contact.

* Outbreak affected countries include Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Lagos, Nigeria, as of 4-August-2014

Funny feedback from one of my oligarch clients today, who is in town.

Both are MD's among there other interests, like owning a football team, lots of interests in

Ukraine etc.etc.

They are livid about the ebola patients being brought back, and they both now want the US

to become isolationist in all ways, including cutting off Israel(they are jewish).

They were big democrat donors and bundlers until now.No more.

Times might be a changing.

"I didn't hear anymore about the 2 docs"

What did you expect?

If it worked, then the USSA is sitting on a gold mine. Nobody says squat until that thing is patented six ways, everyone with money is in early on the investment angle, and the CDC has 500 gallons of the goo sitting in a Subzero trailer held under armed guard in an unused sporting stadium ready to deliver to the global elites in quarter-ounce ampules at $100K per, and no questions asked.

If it didn't work and those a-holes are dead (or about to be) then that shit never happened, pal -- and don't ask again if you know what's good for you.

That's how it works.

The French govt is very good at denial. They'll deny everything that:

1) looks not nice or well-behaved

2) is bad for turism

3) they deem racist

4) they don't want you to know (because it's not nice or well-behaved and it's them doing it).

This kind of ugly disdain and nasty jokes come from the firm refusal of the French to join America in Irak, in 2003.

Since France refused to go to Iraq, American warmongers and neo-cons made French army look like cowards – as a punishment.

But History has proved the French were right, and that the WMD were only a dirty trick to serve as a pretext.

Nevertheless, the hate of american warmongers against France remains still there, well alive, even in ZH.

This stale hate still shows through "innocent good jokes" about the “surrender monkeys” and their white flag … As for the rest, the French can be proud of their Military History which remains despite these stupid jokes by far the best military record in Europe.

I tell ya the MSM is in "keep everybody calm" mode on ebola.  I just watched the NBC Evening News (I know, I know).  Ebola was the 4th story and the entire 60 seconds or so was about the son of the chick who was brought back to Atlanta. How he could visit her.  THAT WAS IT.  The rest of the stories that followed were:

People dumping ice water on themselves to promote fighting ALS  (this segment was about 4x as long as the ebola segment)

A whale was seen off Rockaway Beach in NY

Some little kid had to move away from an old fart who had befriended him.

Pictures of the 'super moon"

Now Robin Williams has croaked himself.......... perfect!  No time for ebola.

Unbeleivable.

The charts in this posting are incorrect.  The data is 69 new cases over three days, or 23 new cases/day.  The big spike in red doesnt actually exist.  The numbers in the latest WHO report are the lowest in about three weeks.  The data since the end of June is actually best fit to a linear increase, not a geometric increase.

That, of course, assumes that there is any basis in reality to the reported numbers (a big assumption)

Does anyone else think that France is not telling the truth?  The only way that Americans would ever find out about it from our media is once the Walking Dead are out in full force.  As much as it seems like it would suck to be actually living through the Walking Dead I think that is what we need at this point to reset.
