They knew they had just been caught red handed. If that would have been my daughter there would have been hell to pay for sure.

Minorities & Blacks did get EEO Advancement & Civil Rights within US Military & Federal Government. Actually I think you can pick out sectors where certain minorities may have created a network where they support their friends within the US Army & Probably other services... It is bound to be fairly unconscious at some level.
Anyway Civil Rights movement seems to have mostly helped Women get equal pay and get advancement in many work sectors and positions of authority. I think I get this partly from James Loewen and Howard Zin's history books.
But I have faced some minorities that seem to either be fighting for what they feel is their rights or who have a chip on their shoulders... People are people. I would have hope for this country if the outrage shown in Ferguson would have happened when it was revealed that the veterans administration was purposely letting Veteran's die & people were given bonuses based on the deaths.
