The Ferguson Morning After: Police "Come Under Heavy Gunfire", Arrest 31 Including Photographer, Journalist
The local authorities have tried everything: aggressive police, appeasing highway patrol, curfew, no curfew, and last night, the national guard. Nothing seems to work. Because what until 9 pm was a peaceful protest, it quickly, as documented here extensively, spiraled out of control. And as the crowd advanced, police fired stun grenades and tear gas at protesters. This escalation allegedly happened after, as Reuters reports, the police came under heavy gunfire leading to the arrest of 31 people, including a famous Getty photographer and yet another journalist.
State Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson, briefing reporters on Monday's night's violence, said "our officers came under heavy gunfire" in one area.
The good news: an all out bloodbath was avoided: "Not a single bullet was fired by officers despite coming under heavy attack," he told a news conference. Riot police had confiscated two guns from protesters and what looked like a petrol bomb. Four officers had been injured. Others too:
Johnson separately told CNN that two people were shot within the crowd, but not by police, and were taken to hospital. There was no immediate word on their condition.
The violence has captured headlines around the world, raising questions about the state of U.S. race relations nearly six years after Americans elected their first black president.
"This has to stop. I don't want anybody to get hurt. We have to find a way to stop this," said Johnson, an African-American who grew up in the area and who took over security efforts after the mostly white local force was accused of using excessive force against blacks.
Unfortunately for the president who took some time off from his well-deserved 2-week vacation, his racial fire and brimstone speech, which took jabs at both the police and protesters, had zero impact on the local population. "While I understand the passions and the anger that arise over the death of Michael Brown, giving in to that anger by looting or carrying guns, and even attacking the police, only serves to raise tensions and stir chaos," Obama told a news conference on Monday. "It undermines, rather than advancing, justice."
What's more troubling is that the Ferguson protest movement is beginning to spread to other cities. For now, it is peaceful.
There have been largely peaceful protests over Brown's killing elsewhere in the United States including in St. Louis, New York, Seattle and Oakland. Police commander Johnson said some of those arrested had come from California and New York.
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency in Ferguson on Saturday and a curfew from midnight to 5 a.m. He also mobilized the National Guard to back up state police.
Obama said he told the governor the use of the National Guard should be limited and called for conciliation in communities hit by the unrest.
And if the one man paragon of true justice, US attorney general Eric Holder, who is arriving in Ferguson on Wednesday, and is also taking time away from his busy schedule of arresting countless bankers for crimes conducted during the financial crisis and after, can't put the looting genie in the bottle, then all bets are off.
Finally, what is worst of all, is that in its scramble to put away any potentially threatening element, the local polica arrested not only Getty's famous photographer Scott Olson...

But also Intercept reporter, Ryan Deveraux, who too was apprehended while covering the riots. Below is the editorial published hours ago by Intercept Editor-in-Chief, John Cook:
Intercept Reporter Detained While Covering Ferguson Protests
Intercept reporter Ryan Devereaux was detained this morning while on the ground covering the protests in Ferguson, Mo. According to St. Louis Post-Dispatch photographer David Carson, who witnessed the apprehension, Ryan and a German reporter he was with were both taken into custody by members of a police tactical team. They were handcuffed and placed in a wagon, and Carson was told they were being taken to St. Louis County jail.
We haven’t been able to reach officials with the St. Louis County Police Department or Ferguson Police Department to find out if Ryan has been arrested or charged, or under what pretext he was detained. But needless to say, it’s an outrage that he was stopped and handcuffed by police in the course of lawfully doing his job on the streets of Ferguson. We are trying to contact Ryan now.
At a press conference early this morning, Missouri Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson told reporters in Ferguson that 31 arrests had been made, including members of the “criminal element” from “as far away as New York.” When asked by a reporter if any of those 31 had been reporters, he immediately–and falsely–replied, “these people were not journalists that were arrested.”
But he quickly admitted that in the “chaos” of the protests, officers may not be able to distinguish between reporters and other bystanders: “So yes, we may take some of you into custody. But when we do take you into custody, and we have found out that you are a journalist, we have taken the proper action.” This begs the question as to why police would be compelled to arrest an otherwise law-abiding non-journalist simply for attending a protest. But we insist that the St. Louis County Police Department, Ferguson Police Department, and Missouri Highway Patrol take the proper action and release Ryan Devereaux immediately.

Oh good......we've just killed the freedom of the press.
Like they were doing it anyway.
I'm glad to sit at the right hand of satan....Walter Cronkite

Freedom of the Press is awesome....
But there is an element within the press that wants to accelerate the violence...it's what they live for.
The "free" press killed itself when it became a fourth branch of .gov, with the odious task of spreading propaganda.
Media has become the circus of our time.
All the News fit to further the .gov narrative.
Please submit your questions a week in advance. If we like it.....we'll rewrite it....and then we'll let you ask it.
Anyone who watches TV or Hollywood is an idiot who supports the police state. This is all Soros planned. You TV viewership helps keep them in power.

Look at the front page of a major german news site Die Welt: http://www.welt.de/
Wir waren nur Befehle!
Hey I read further down in that newspaper that a 30 yr old woman collapsed in a berlin job center with tons of other people there. They think it is an active Ebola case.
Ebola in Berlin is a bigger issue for Germans than Ferguson. Looks like Die Welt is doing more Putin demonizing. They need to lay off that shit. The last time one of their zio Austrian usurpers owned by the Red Shield pissed off the Russians, it turned out badly.
The media, even here at ZH, all know that comic book movies are the top money grossing movies. So now everyone in the media, politics, and everywhere else are not reporting news but are creating a cartoon hero storyline. There's always an evil villain with gobs of greed and a humble superhero who gives all the booty away and keeps none for himself or herself. Frankly this comic book hero storyline is becoming tedious.
Yeah but just wait for the movie...
When Obummer revisited Germany, no more cheers from the public, Germans know the score. Obummer, just another lying politician who happens to be black and a citizen of Kenya (since his parents never filed the proper paperwork to get him automatic American citizenship, just claiming a bogus certificate of live birth).
.... he's got about as much Kenyan in him as my fat ass .... er .... yeah ....perhaps a bad choice of words just there...
... moving right along .... Frank Marshal Davis is not Kenyan and Barry Sotero has pretty much nothing of the physical features of Barack Obama Sr, or half brother George ; sure looks like Frankie though.....oh but wait ...... are you suggesting Stanley Ann was a lying slut in the employ of various CIA fronts while engaged in human terraining while married to Barrys Indo-dat Sotero and actively contributing to the genocide of indonesians during the CIA backed coup and installation of the Suharto regime....... is that what you're trying to suggest just there?? ......... yeah I can dig it....
Obama is a Soros, Lester Crowne, Zio, Red Shield puppet and see eye aye stooge.

I saw a post from RT saying that a guy captured in a photo at Ferguson was accused by Kiev as a Russian operative causing chaos in Ukraine.
Even if there is no truth in this, the propaganda war is hilarious to watch.
That being said, what is happening isnt right.
look familiar.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNo0BicRM8k ............just rinse and repeat.....
I live in St. Louis, about 10 miles south of Ferguson. If I didn't turn on the TV or read the news, I'd have absolutely no idea this stuff is going on. It's only news because the news says it's news and the whole thing has turned into a complete media circle jerk. There's a handful of thugs, many of whom are from out of town, that are here just to make trouble and get their face on camera.
Local cops using MRAPS, jackboots and machine guns doesn't phase you eh?
Believe it or not, but I still believe that the police are here to protect and enforce the law. I sure as hell am glad they are out in force protecting the 99% of Ferguson & St. Louis who doesn't want the violence to spread.
Finally someone pipes up and speaks the truth. The truth is that no one on here wants the police state and what comes with it. But the minute Ferguson attempts to spill over in to the next town you can bet your ass that town is fine with whatever tactics the police need to use to end it. It's hypocritical but it's reality.
I would say many here want police that uphold the law, not decide that they are the law.
I am not a police state apologist but it sure as hell looks like somebody is doing a good job of suppressing that this thug commited a strong arm robbery and then assaulted and charged a cop. we will prob never know the real truth but there is an actual chance that this cop was upholding the law. no one on here seems to want to consider that.
>> no one on here seems to want to consider that.
I certainly give the cop the benefit of the doubt until all evidence is brought forward.
I think this thing is much bigger than just the shooting. There is a bunch of pent up anger with the police. Black city, white police force. They have some right to determine how they are policed. There is an incident where the force jailed the wrong black guy then assulted him.
It's a bit of a push back in my opinion. Right on both sides and wrong on both sides.
Bleed on a Ferguson police officer? Get charged with destruction of public property. Oh My!By Charlton S. Stanley, Weekend writer
We should have seen this coming. I believe it is going to get worse before it gets better, if ever. At some point there is going to be a “pitchforks and torches” backlash.
It may be starting in Ferguson, MO. Take a look at one of the latest stories to come out of there. It’s sad that we have to look overseas to get reliable and up to date news about what is happening in the good ol’ US of A. Because of the great sucking sound that is the US corporate mainstream media, people who want to get a more balanced read on the news check sites such as Al Jazerra, The Guardian, RT, The Epoch Times, and Der Spiegel.
This is a brief clip from a story posted yesterday on RT (Russia Today). Emphasis is mine:
It gets better. Reading the court filings, we learn that on September 20, 2010, Henry Davis missed his exit and found himself in the the St. Louis County community of Ferguson at 3:00 AM. As it happened, there was a warrant was out for a Henry Davis, but the wanted man has a different middle initial, different birth date, and different Social Security number.
However, Davis, a 54 year old African-American welder was assaulted by four officers (one of them female). The records show that he was thrown forcefully into a one-person cell, but the one-person cell already had an occupant. He would have had to sleep on the concrete floor, because the one bunk was already occupied. There was a pile of sleeping mats near the cell, so Davis asked for a sleeping mat. Because he asked for something to sleep on, he was called disobedient. At that point, Davis was thrown to the floor, and put in restraints. During this assault in the jail, one of the officers kicked Davis in the head.
After being restrained and kicked in the jail cell, paramedics took Henry Davis to the hospital where he insisted that his picture be taken before he was treated (photo and story at the link). The Emergency Room doctor diagnosed him with a concussion and stitched him up before releasing Davis back to custody of the Ferguson PD.
He was released 3 days later on a $1500 bond for “destruction of public property.” If they kick and beat you, you better not dare bleed on their uniforms.
Davis sued. When the four officers were deposed, all four denied that they had blood on their uniforms as they had signed on their affidavit of complaints. What does this mean? They either perjured themselves at trial or had falsified affidavit. That level of perjury is a felony. The county prosecutor declined to prosecute because he claimed Davis’, injuries were de minimus.
An awful story for sure, but no doubt we can find this in most towns across America. Then an instance like Michael Brown comes along and "cops are just doing their jobs", "why is everyone so upset."
http://rbgsurvival.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/police.png
Beware!
True. There is a big difference between cops working for the people, enforcing publicly-backed law and working for the government, following government orders...
Right now the government orders are for a 3rd autopsy of the dead guy while Holder gets sent in while trying to suppress what actually took place, like the robbery and everything else.
In this instance the complete opposite of the usual narrative is taking place.
Of course, that's how I feel as well. No one knows yet if Darren Wilson upheld the law or not. If he did not, then he should be held accountable - time will tell once the evidence has been gathered.
Am I alone in hoping Ferguson is the spark that gets the inevitable reset in motion, leading to a breakup of USA, so I can live under a government someday (relatively soon) that is not based in DC and run by AIPAC?
Well,
As Purvi Shah, after being tear gassed, tweeted: “To the police: you just organized a bunch of freedom fighters. Thanks.”
http://commondreams.org/views/2014/08/18/ten-facts-about-police-violence...
Hell, the cops are subjected to more propaganad internally than we ever see.
...doesn't FAZE you...
People who watch TV and Hollywood enjoy being serfs and supporting their serfdom by watching. TV and Hollywood is about control. They got Obama elected twice even though 2012 had massive vote theft. Idiots who watch TV like being lied to and manipulated.
I'd have absolutely no idea this stuff is going on.
The movie set is actually a pretty small space....but it really doesn't take all that much.
You are correct, it's something the size of two or three city blocks where all of this stuff is happening
Great post Maple. The bottom line is the bernakyellen has forced sites like zh to go from being a market/investing based site to KWN to now liveleak. That's the collateral damage of the Birinyi ruler.
I wonder what Obama's plan is -- doubling EBT benefits would go directly to the rioters, and get them to stop?
Love the classic bayonet style of crowd control.
Chicago '68 ... Those were the days
If you like your Helter Skelter you can keep your Helter Skelter... Bitchez.
But it needs Obozo doing his golf prancing in the background..
I think he should dress like dukakis and drive the tank around some. Those were the days.
This is not "classic" William B unless that California nazi (who retired on disability probably clearing $150,000 + a year) is pepper spraying everything and everyone. Or of William's loveable character "Dronie" is flying overhead.
No doubt the proud patriots of the Liberty Movement will be arriving en mass to stand tall with those whose sacred constitutional rights are being abused here.
Kinda like they've done about Stop and Frisk in NYC and murderous militarized police everywhere!
Then shit gonna change for sure.
It's all for Liberty! Those who exchange liberty for safety deserve neither, after all.
LOL
How about that? The President takes one little tiny vacation for six years and the whole country goes to hell.
I am still wondering why the young man allegedly stole cigars. Didn't he have enough money from this bull market to pay for them. Talk about greed.(sarcasm)
Even Judge Jeffries only sentenced people to hang if they stole more than 10 shillings.
About $500 in todays money. He would be mortified over death for a pack of cigarallo's,
that would just get you deported to America or Australia.
No tobacco products can be purchased with EBT.
Too circular financially.
Brown to murderer: Don't shoot!
Cops to photographers: Don't shoot!
Nice.
However....the evidence is coming out that he wasn't actually murdered....and he was just a common thug.
Where is this evidence? So far the evidence shows he was shot from a distance with his hands up.
Do you live in a bubble? You might want to take your head out of the sand and look around a little bit.
Don't be ridiculous. The cops have been fleeing from the evidence from the very start.
Instead of the standard protocol of quickly identifying, interviewing, and sequestinging key witnesses... the key witnesses were ignored and left to tell their stories to the news cameras instead!
However....the evidence is coming out that he wasn't actually murdered....and he was just a common thug.
Any links to this 'evidence' or do you mean stories? I see lots of stories. The ones from the right wing weighted sites have all the witnesses and 'stuff' that says the cop was in the right. All the left wing weighted sites seem to have all the witnesses and 'stuff' that say brown had his hands up and was surrendering.
Links to evidence would be great. TIA!
Yes, evidence would be helpful, unfortunately there is very little hard evidence in this case.
There is plenty of evidence from past cases that the cops will lie about shooting (or beating) cases, claiming that they "felt threatened", just as this cop is saying. The "dozen witnesses" claim in this case is so far unsubstantiated.
However, the Trayvon case shows that the black community is largely unconcerned with facts and evidence (and many guilty white libs), so claims that Brown had his hands up aren't entirely convincing either.
Overall, the majority of comments that I read about this case, even on ZH, are unconcerned with facts, which is a sad testament to the state of mind of a populace bombarded with "education" and "news" designed to render them incapable of rational thought.
For many, the demonstrations and protests aren't about this case at all -- they are about the ongoing militarization and radicalization of the police, the rising cop-on-civilian violence, and the despair caused by the outcomes of the bankster looting spree.
Don't expect the "reset" to be favorable, either.
Thug or not, you can't shoot unarmed people in the face. The cops are meant to be held to a higher standard. They train for this after all. I mean, hell, if we can just shoot people because they are a thug, then why is America full of them? Why aren't we all out just shooting them? Fish in a barrel in this country. We don't need cops, just a side arm and we will clean this place right up.
>> We don't need cops, just a side arm and we will clean this place right up.
All too true. The fly in the ointment is we are all somebody's thugs. Black? Kill 'em. White? Kill 'em. Fat? Kill 'em. Liberal? Kill 'em twice.
Hey less than well-informed about the use of firearms..............
If you pull out your gun you shoot to stop the attack. There is no "higher standard" for cops.
If one or two of your shots go through the face, well............that's usually something that will stop the threat.
Get some firearms training, then come back and try to make more informed comments.
How about the gubbermint immediately start breaking ground for the Negro Springs Golf and Country Club. That should bring peace to Ferguson. Obamao could design the course!
Obama only likes to play golf with the Martha's Vineyard set, not the riff and the raff.
make sure you use the kind of grass that they can smoke....they will like that
lmao
The PTB will spin this into an indictment of black citizens. The only good thing happening is that their goons can't tell the difference between a citizen (which is OK to hurt, maim, kill) and a journalist.
But they know an Illegal Immigrant from Central America instantly... hm... Doesn't make sense unless it is Fascism, and methods to control the press that dare to leave the reservation area by the Canopy Tents.
Serious question. What is it the protresters in MO want to have happen so that they will stop the nightly protests? Do they want the cop involved in the shooting arrested? Then arrest him! There seems no doubt he fired the shots. If the situation was reversed and Brown had shot the cop......think he would still not have been arrested?
Flat screen TVs for everyone?
Cops only enforce the law on others, they do not follow it..
They want to be the oppressors instead of the oppressed - sort of like ISIS
It is definitely an Intelligence Operation since they are hiding facts and easily obtained evidence.
What is the Objective?
- Distraction from other events?
- Grow a Crisis in order to Take more Rights like 2nd Amendment?
- Create a Historical Event to draw upon over the next Decade to Color US History as Racist, Dangerous Gun Nation, Dangerous Place of Terrorism, Demonize White People or Republican Patriarchs?
I heard one of the protesters state "It ain't over til there's a conviction". I took note that he, and those around him who all agreed, want a conviction rather than a thorough investigation. Smells a whole lot like Los Angeles '92. Just don't find your ass in a dark neighborhood when the shit really goes down...ask Reginald Denney if you have any questions.
What would be really eye-opening is if any of the protestors began to use tactics.
Overwatch, flanking, decoys, traps and encirclement.
Police count on some civility, if you violate that and move to the next level they don't stand a chance.
Yes, police do count on civility. They have a high school diploma (barely) and pretty minimal training.
However, I don't think you really understand how many "levels" there are at the disposal of government once "civility" is abandoned.
Again, Americans need to take a look around the world and be very careful what they wish for. In my opinion, they don't have a fucking clue as to what real poverty or oppression is.
True - but this lot is working towards 'educating' Americans in Oppression 101.
"Not a single bullet was fired by officers despite coming under heavy attack."
But they fired six of them at Michael Brown, who wasn't even ARMED.
Pretty sure he had arms.
He had two, but they only shot one.
He was a good boy that Michael. The pride of the neighborhood an a shining example for the youth of Ferguson. Seriously, he was destined to find a cure for Ebola until his life was snuffed out as he was minding his own business and likely mentoring his young friend on the Bible.
He didn't meet with your approval, so it's murder then? Wow, nice.
Actually I'm not even sure the guy actually existed. But hey, in your mind if someone isn't nice then they get smoked, so whatever.
Ignorance is obviously your strong suit. Carry on.
Ignorance is obviously your strong suit. Carry on.....irony
Yes, because people should be able to rob businesses and attack the cops with impunity.
Straw man argument for the weak minded. If he had his hands up at the time, then he gets arrested and goes to jail, not gunned down. No impunity there. IF that is. I am still waiting to find out which version of events is correct.
Don't worry. You won't find out what really happened. Cops lie. Ghetto rats lie. This shit has become political now, and politicians lie.
And if he had his hands down and was charging the cop after trying to get his gun while he was still in his patrol car? Truth is, we may never know. But very weak minded of you to use the weak minded straw man argument.
some have already made up their mind and try to reinforce their arguments by creating wildly inaccurate statements and don't understand the definition of straw men.
A straw man is a common type of argument and is an informal fallacy based on the misrepresentation of an opponent's argument.
example: Yes, because people should be able to rob businesses and attack the cops with impunity.
See, nobody is saying that a criminal gets to rob businesses and attack cops with impunity. YOU said that, it's YOUR straw man.
What people are saying is that cops don't have a right to gun down people if they are surrendering with their hands up, even if they have robbed a store and and attacked a police officer.
He was a good boy that Michael. The pride of the neighborhood and a shining example for the youth of Ferguson. Seriously, he was destined to find a cure for Ebola until his life was snuffed out as he was minding his own business and likely mentoring his young friend on the Bible.
Sweet kid. If Obama had a younger brother...
Kreditanstalt, If I come running at you unarmed with evil intent in my eyes you will damn sure wish you had a gun with you and I am not 6'4" 290 lb. Michael was one big dude, he could easily kill without a gun, so simple to sit in your lazy boy and type "unarmed" isn't it..
Yes. And then you'd be rightly arrested and tried in a court of law, and probably found guilty of murder.
Not a chance.
But you would still badly want that gun wouldn't you?? Not so easy to duck the point around here...
what if he was just standing there with his hands up? Not so easy to duck that point is it? It's so easy to come up with scenarios you all imagine, but there are only 2 up here for debate. Did he rush the officer or was he standing with his hands up? If he was standing with his hands up that seems like a murder to me, and if I had a gun and was facing this guy, and he had his hands up, I wouldn't pull the trigger. Well, actually I might, cause I would be scared shitless and might just unload on the guy out of fear.
Since you just made the damn point up yeah it is easy to laugh at, your certainly aptly named aren't you..
" More than a dozen witnesses have confirmed michael rushed the cop" How many witnesses say he stood there like a gentle giant shaking so hard his cigars spilled on the ground, oh that's right absofuckinglutely nobody..
I like how you blithely glossed over the inconvenient little factoid that you would be dead from the encounter described above. Dude, get a clue! You don't want to be dead. You have a natural right to protect yourself.
But but but.... He was a "gentle giant"... just ask his friends and family...
Call me skeptical about this. As I watched some of this last night, it wasn't nearly as explosive as how it is being portrayed and I just have to wonder..... what in the hell are TPTB up to while we are distracted with this circus? There is no doubt that the community organizer is trying to stir up a race war, but there is something else afoot.
Yeah same observation here.
Doc it's noty TPTB that is distracting you here, it's ZH distracting you from spy 2k.
Locked in your spelling error BTW.... ;-> Nothing can distract me from SPY 2k, and a sub 2% ten year.
The Kansas City Shuffle...watch the right hand and not the left.
Same observation here watching Vice feed.
Angry people milling about taunting SWAT like a high school cafeteria uprising, blowing off steam. Police non-confrontational but on loudspeaker saying get out of street etc which further pisses of the crowd. Went on for 20-30 minutes, people started blocking street with cones, etc, still nothing. Worst riot ever.
Then bottles start flying, SWAT responds by doing what SWAT does gas/flash bangs etc. Quiet then zip-zip-zip, bullets flying over head. Media hits the deck and runs to safety at SWAT urging.
The police just being in that spot prokes a confrontation, seems counterproductive/pointless. Social media erupts with conspiracy theories about media blackout (not the obvious, them being fucking shot at), CNN runs with the tear gas and flash bangs, one giant Rorshach test ensues with usual Us/Them circle jerks.
I was subtweeted as a "racist" for calling whomever shot indiscriminately through smoke an animal. Oh well.
I try to avoid thinking in terms of the usual left/right political paradigm but it seems pretty clear that forces on the political left are pushing the protests, the white oppressor narrative, etc to fire up their base prior to November and rekindle the flame of white guilt that the disaster-in-chief blew out. Another thing occurred to me, Ferguson takes impeachment completely off the table even if the Rs win back the Senate. Imagine every city in America overrun with justice seekers.
The fascist crowd also benefits, "us or them".
The whole country is fucking powder keg.
Having watched different streams, different shit is going on in different places. Except for when something fucked up happens. Then the cops take it out on everybody, even the peaceful ones. It is a potentially explosive situation, but not for the reasons that you're being told.
Violence begets violence, always has, always will. Let the culling begin...
Time to read "The Art of war" again...
sadly, same as it ever was...
Gotta give the rioters credit, they have exposed the militarization of the police for the world to see. Before it was only talked about in the 'tin-foil hat crowd', now global media is asking the question whey local police in the US need to patrol the streets in Bearcats.
Also, had to LOL at this http://www.lencoarmor.com/goodbye-bread-truck/
Are those vehicles "protected" with plates of d.u.? If so, they are dangerous to all rolling anywhere.
Gotta love that Nazi name:
"YPDs Special Enforcement Team"
Arm yourselves America...
"Heavy Gunfire" where are the pictures of dead and wounded cops? The provocateurs are on both sides now. Heavy gun fire = deaths, Its all bullshit, the blacks don't understand how they are being used and for that matter neither do the cops..
Heard the gunfire live on Vice news last night, rounds whizzing overhead, very distinct sound. The shooting followed tear gas being launched at a group hanging out at the burned out gas station, fired toward police out of the smoke. Police were between the crowd on side of street and reporters on the other. Unless a cop peeled off and started shooting at a large group of SWAT, it came from someone in the crowd.
Crazy shit.
Takeaways: The peeps want a fight & the police oblige/escalate with their presence, issuing inane commands "get out of the street" etc. Prior to bottles being thrown/gas being launched there were actually moments of levity, like a large woman removing a Do Not Enter sign from the ground and standing in front of SWAT, who replied "Those of you who have removed road signs from the ground, please put them back, thank you for your cooperation".
All hell broke loose after the gun fire, media was cleared out, tear gas everywhere to clear the street.
Police need to get the hell out of there and let mean reversion do its thing.
Eerily reminiscent of another August confrontation 45 years ago...only the skin color has changed...

NOW you see why the second amendment is there?
Hint: NOT to protect you from civilian "thugs"...
And certainly not to protect yourself from unarmed thugs, right? We al lknow why the 2nd was the 2nd amendment, it's not about hunting deer.
"Obama said he told the governor the use of the National Guard should be limited and called for conciliation in communities hit by the unrest."
My response, if I were Governor: "Thank you for the advice, Mr. President, but unless you want to federalize the Guard and take both control and reponsibility for this mess, please, go fuck yourself."
I watched the live feeds here on ZH last night. What was happening was so bizarre I couldn't stop watching. The Vice News feed was like The Blair Protest Project. The feed by the command center had guys with megaphones prancing in front of the crowds on the sidewalks leading them in Michael Brown cheers. Then suddenly the police line would break in the center to allow the huge riot truck to come out & swoop up a (seemingly innocent) crowd member at random. Is this America???
It's the Amerika the talmuds envisioned way back in the early 1900's but then as they mastered the technology of manipulating consciousness, it really accelerated in the 1960's. We are now over the waterfall.
Heavy gunfire? Yeaaaaaah riiiight.
This still all staged at the same corner by the QT mart?
Staged.
False.
Robbie Parker and Gene Rosen waiting for their cue?
Yawn
Go ahead, make my....zzzz...
This matrix needs a new architect.
Ron Johnson is following orders.
The pension is mightier than the sword.
With all the gunfire aimed at police it is a miracle none have been hit.
The word miracle is intended sarcasm for those of you with a public school education...
The phrase 'public school education' was used in jest, more or less, as I was a product of the public schools all the way through the University level, and as a matter of fact I taught in public schools.
In the final analysis, any joke that requires this much explanation was probably not worth telling...
Hope that last remark didn't offend anyone...
"I taught in public schools."
So, now we know it's all your fault.
Yes, I freely admit it...
God it feels good to get that off of my chest...
Meanwhile, in the Inner Earth...........
Reptillian Overlord Zork: "It's all going nicely so far. Tonight, make sure a bullet hits a national guard or police car. This will advance our plan to the next level."
1st Suplicant Goolarrx: "As you wish, your most highness. And what of the human Holder? What words should we command him to say when he arrives?"
Reptillian Overlord Zork: "He is to further apologize on behalf of the racist entity of the USA and fan the flames of unrest with ill-chosen words. But this is to be subtle and not obvious to the casual observer. Remember, the goal is division and anger, not reconcilliation nor justice. Advise him well."
2nd Suplicant Tahkahn: "And what of our hapless Governor Nixon? He maintains the path we've chosen for him so far. How can he best advance our plan, master?"
Reptillian Overlord Zork: "The escalated violence we instigate tonight must result in a panicked press conference at midnight. He will appear dishevled, raging anger alternating with tears. Choose his words for him carefully! He will castigate his own forces for their behavior, he will rage against the rioters, he will beseech our deep-agent Barack for intervention with federal forces. The build up to this point has taken us years. It will now go swiftly from here and our agent of chaos will now have his finest moment. Go forth!"
A thousand bugles sound the call as the endless cohort of winged ones issue forth from their subterranean stygian pit. The end game is nigh.............
It's hard to deny the above.
We are being played on a grand scale... for now.
That's some mighty fine writing.
The Black race has been a blight on America since the British brought them here. The Great Society programs were a complete failure and encouraged a race that was raised to hate the white population and play on the weakness of all the liberal scum elected to office. If it's going to come, let it be now while America is still armed. A black president and a black attorney general. Ugh!Oh! I forgot the pat phrase "they're not all like that".
British they may have been. The prominent slave traders were said to be jews. http://www.iamthewitness.com/books/Walter.White/Who.Brought.the.Slaves.to.America.htm
You mean like John Newton, the slaver who wrote Amazing Grace? That jew?
LOL...can't imagine why they'd hate the white population...
Oligarchs just love idiots like you. Those shiny objects are so cool to stare at.
We are doomed!
This will all stop as soon as niggers start taking responsibility for their actions.... so, never.
Perhaps hand out airline tickets to Liberia? No "white oppressors" there I don't think.
They can reach their full potential without whitey keepin' them down.
Wasn't that James Madison's plan so long ago? Shame how plans don't always pan out...
Monroe, hence the capital city "Monrovia".
Incidentally Lincoln was a manager in the Illinois Colonization Society and a member of the American Colonization Society which advocated for the same.
The cartoon version of Lincoln history held by most 'Muricans is truly laughable.
I stand somewhat corrected, I've muddled my Jameses...
"Beginning in 1816, the American Colonization Society (ACS), supported by such leading Americans as Senators Henry Clay and Daniel Webster, Presidents Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe, worked toward the creation of a colony in Africa for free blacks and manumitted slaves, along the lines of an earlier British effort at Sierra Leone. Implementation of the joint venture began after the U. S. Congress granted $100,000 for the repatriation to Africa of persons brought to America following the "official" American abolition of the slave trade. Between 1822 and 1867, the ACS succeeded in assisting the repatriation to Liberia of 19,000 black people, among them 4,540 freeborn, 7,000 manumitted slaves and more than 5,700 recaptured from slaving vessels."

Edit: Still a shame how plans don't always pan out.
..first thing the grateful pilgrims to Monrovia did was set up shop running a slavery operation..
This is not Darren Wilsons fault. This is Woodrow Wilson's fault.
Ya know, 0baMao has nothing in common with these "folks" except skin color.
He's not descended from slaves, he never lived in da hood, hell, he's half "cracker."
Some how I can't help but think that he, H0lder and other members of the regime are secretly happy that "the black man is rising up."
Q. How do we know the police are lying when they said the came "under heavy gunfire?"
A. None of them died or were wounded.
Yes, one does have to wonder. Even with police departments routinely hiring combat veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan for no discernible reason, and certainly with no appropriate qualifications, perhaps they don't understand the true notion of "under heavy gunfire." And, it's possible, neither do our veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Since our popular culture now holds soldiers and policemen as the most precious lives in our society, to be protected from harm at any cost to civilians, perhaps they don't know any longer how to assess danger, and assess every danger as the ultimate danger. Maybe that's one reason our army doesn't win wars and our cops can't contain violence even in a society where statistically, violence is at epochal lows.
Flipped around the cable news channels last night and saw police telling the 'live' reporters to move several times. Of course, the reason is that the reporters wanted a better camera angle in the background, and were trying to cluster around anyplace where there was any altercation so they could get 'the video'. So locking up reporters and cameramen that do not listen is very appropriate.
really? you just blindly accept that what the police are saying is true? Isn't it funny that they are almost always yelling 'stop resisting, stop resisting' as they are handcuffing a person with 4 guys on top. Surely the dog really did detect drugs as the officer tapped the side of the car and the dog jumped up.
c'mon, use a bit of common sense. The police know that they can't just arrest reporters without a shitstorm, so if they don't like them there they can use the 'interfering with police' bullshit.
I am not saying they were or weren't but just because a cop says they were in the way and not listening doesn't make it true.
NoWay would place the first ammendment protest zone slightly east of the suburb, somewhere in the middle of the Mississippi river
"President Barack Obama and civil rights leaders have appealed for calm while a federal investigation into the shooting proceeds."
And this is a federal mater why?
Because once the proles realize the Govt can not and should not control every aspect of society then they will likely turn their sights on other more lucrative frauds these oligarchs use, ie, fiat paper, QE, UNbacked unlimited credit issuance to their fav PD and friends, incarceration of bros for stealing a candy bar and turning their heads to the Corzines who steal Billions.
becuse everything is a federal matter. So pay attention because tomorrow all of the demands will have changed.
Regardless of one's opinions of cops, or black people, or whose fault this is, do we think this is working? I would suggest no. I suggest we can agree that this isn't working. So, what should we do? Some of us seem to think that we should do more of what we have been doing; that it isn't working because we haven't done enough of it. Interestingly, some of the same people feel the same way about Israel's issues with Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon; that the problem is that the Israelis aren't doing enough of what they've been doing.
I disagree. I think the problem with violence is that it works against those who are willing to be cowed by violence. Once those people decide not to be cowed by violence, you either have to kill them all or you lose. There's nowhere else to go with it. That's why Hamas, Hezbollah, and Fatah keep returning to violence, and Israel has to keep using violence. That's why looters from all over America wind up in Ferguson, MO; even those not on the police payroll to justify whatever the police feel like doing.
The State is at a disadvantage here. Supposedly, we have granted the State a monopoly on use of violence. That works, as long as we're willing to leave violence to the State and refrain ourselves. Clearly, rightly or wrongly, there are a lot of people in Ferguson, MO who have given up on that. Who knows where they originally came from. But we can see the impotence of the State in this situation. Unless and until they simply demolish the whole area and kill everyone they encounter, State violence isn't going to work now. That's why they're attacking journalists. Even that is an outmoded tactic. In protests against a Geneticists conference in Minneapolis some 15 years ago, attacking journalists worked because not every person had a video camera in their pocket. Now it's an obsolete tactic.
So, if the State monopoly on violence is an ineffective tactic, even if we find the idea satisfying, we either have to resign ourselves to increasing violence, or find new tactics. By now it doesn't matter who stole what cigars or who shot whom how many times from what direction.
As a stakeholder in our society, I'm saying this isn't working. If the leaders we have selected can't think of anything else to do but more of what isn't working, they need to be replaced. I'm not sure what would work at this point, but more of this ain't it.
Empires fall when the masses are hungry and in the urban centers and suburbia, money is the fish.
But like all the assholes who are in denial they'd blame the victims for the consequences of being starved instead of dealing with the cause.
It is coming to whitelandia next because of the FED and things like obamacare.
$23 trillion since 2008. Do you know what that number means?
If you don't redevelop the economy that isn't dependent on the government and that can function by fishing for a fish(s) that is not tied to that debt load like bitcoin for starters. This place goes into the dark ages when it blows up finally. You do what I suggest a lot of people won't wind up dying and suffering as the bankruptcy plays out.It is like ying and yang when one goes the other picks up the slack until things fix themselves there is no to big to fail bullshit and lack of moral hazard as an excuse then.
