Merkel Slams US Hegemony? "America Can't Solve All The World's Problems Anymore"

Tyler Durden's picture

First Russia and China, then UAE, Egypt, and Turkey... and now it appears Germany (following a phone call with Putin) is pulling the rug out from under US hegemony - just as Obama's warmongery ramps up...

  • *MERKEL SAYS U.S. CAN'T SOLVE ALL THE WORLD'S PROBLEMS ANYMORE

Which is odd because just yesterday, President Obama (who never lies) stated "The United States is and will remain the one indispensable nation in the world..." adding that "no other nation can do what we do." Perhaps he is wrong?

“Even a superpower can’t solve all of the problems alone anymore,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel says.

Merkel did not stop there...

  • *PUTIN, MERKEL URGE DE-ESCALATION IN UKRAINE, KREMLIN SAYS
  • *PUTIN, MERKEL DISCUSSED GAS TRANSIT VIA UKRAINE, KREMLIN SAYS
  • *PUTIN INFORMED MERKEL OF NEW EAST UKRAINE AID PLAN: KREMLIN
  • *MERKEL URGES HOLLANDE TO CONTINUE REFORMS IN FRANCE
  • *MERKEL SAYS HOLLANDE HAS CHANCE TO REVIVE FRENCH ECONOMIC POWER

Seems like she is returning to the offensive from the defensive...

Hollywood solved the problem of how people are supposed to think and feel.

Replace "Solved" with "Created" and then you have a host of answers!

Could someone list the global problems solved by any country in the last 1000 years?

Seems you have an 'inflated expectations' problem.

Hey SuckMyDyke,

When Americans start crossing the border into other people's countries than I'll take back what I said.

As it stands, I'm 100% correct and the rest of you guys are fucking full-retard American-hating jackass libtards who think food, medicine, and shelter should be handed to you on the backs of people who earn them for you.

To one and all, America has faults but it shines sunlight out of its own asshole compared to timid Europeans, cannibalistic Africans, psychotic Middle Easterners, and soul crushing commie Asians.

If you don't like it here, leave. just get the fuck out.  I won't stop you and I'll pay for it with my taxes, but just go and take your shitty idiotologies with you.

...and use deodorant.

Raymond K Hessel

You wrote: “The world's problems are solved when you emigrate to the US.”

How so?

Do you mean by sending dollars abroad?

Aren’t immigrants that send money back home a form of 'contributor to' imperialism?

Raymond K Hessel's picture

If you lived in America you would know exactly what I meant.

Instead you are either chained to your computer in some Chinese Army base or working for Igor at the Internet Research Agency.

You would know why people leave their homes for America and experience for yourself an increase in your standard of living.

Escrava Isaura's picture

Hessel,

First, I live in DC.

Second, isn’t that increase because of the dollar being the reserve currency?

Or do you mean something else?

Memedada's picture

I live in Denmark. If I were to move to USA that would mean:

1.    Lower wages (for the same work) – even after tax

2.    Lesser and more expensive access (in Denmark ALL health-care is free – for the person who unfortunately needs it) to inferior health-care

3.    An expensive, indoctrinating and (to secular minds) over-religious education system (in Denmark it’s only your skill that determines if you can get an education or not – there’s no tuition)

4.    Risk of being arbitrarily thrown in jail for minor offences (many not being offences in Denmark) – or arbitrarily shot down by your ‘police/domestic military’-force

5.    Being excessively monitored and spied on

6.    No independent medias (all owned by or serving the fascist state and its cohorts)

7.    Risk of being a (justifiable) victim of terrorism (false-flags and logical responses to USA’s aggressive foreign policies – its many wars (both covert and those in the open)

8.    Living in a dystopian scene of what hyper-capitalism does to a society – the ‘aesthetics’ (or lack of) of capitalism (the sea of billboards advertising junk, chains of junk-food vendors, concrete oceans/roads (no relevant public alternatives in most areas) and so on)

9.    No democratic alternatives and a broken down political system (= a political system subjugated by the financial elite/the oligarchs). And no left-wing parties or organizations (all have been – alt the way back in the 50’s, which might explain why so few US-based ZH’ers understand what left-wing politics is about) dismantled as part of the corporate coup

10. Debt enough for the next 100+ generations to be enslaved by

11. Less social mobility (being born poor in USA is almost certain a guarantee to die poor too – in Denmark there’s much more social mobility because there’re many more possibilities for the poor – se ad 1, 2 and 3 above). Quite a paradox that ‘the American dream’ is more alive in a (semi)social-democratic society like Denmark than in USA itself.

The list of the ‘merits’ connected with moving to USA could go on and on…

Escrava Isaura's picture

Memedada,

You did a great job, I believe, exposing some of the truths about America.

Not that I need to remind you, but it’s very hard to break through when the prevailing assumptions are based in meaningless clichés and downright repeated stupidity.

Anyway, thanks for the post. And I think you should repost it, when necessary.

True.  Some problems just can't be solved, as she knows herself.  E.g. Merkel's Greek dance Koulouri

Seriously though, this BBC documentary does a decent job of telling us the story of Angela Merkel.

Jack Burton's picture

"Latina Lover", What do you think has made her flip? She is coming around to seeing the damage the US is doing to Europe in the name of containment of Russia and Kiev's revolution. What may have made her see the light now? I am not sure what has moved her to become sane all of a sudden?

Latina Lover's picture

Jack Burton,  I am not sure but per certain russian blogs it seems that Putin gave Merkel the choice of pulling back their Ukrainian cur or facing even greater european destabilization due to risks of energy shortages, ongoing sanctions etc. The EU economy is in deep trouble, and if Germany falters, then it is game over. Germany is a client state of the USSA, but owes its ultimate loyalty to the EU. And without russian gas, Germany grinds to a halt.

Further, as you already know, the Ukies have been stealing Russian gas for decades, estimated in the tens of billions,  and the Russians are frankly sick of it.

Moreover, violence directed against the Donbass, coupled with threats, insults, the MH17 false flag have so infuriated the Russian nationalists, that they are demanding that the Ukraine govenrnment be choked to death via denial of Nat Gas, Coal etc. Putin may have to do this to placate his nationalists opponents, who would happily turn Kiev into a parking lot.

Porkyshenko overplayed a bad hand at the behest of the USSA, and he is about to be dealt out of the game, and sent to his spiritual home, Israel.

centerline's picture

Lots of history here.  Predates the US even.  EU is at the edge of the cliff.  Merkel has her tits in the wringer.  She is going to walk the line here as best as possible.  No other option really.  Someone else has to be the first to shit the bed.

James_Cole's picture

No not really I don't think. Europe is ultimately a competitor of the USSA and their relationship for the past couple decades has mostly been as frenemies. Not to mention US&A stuffing europe with a whole shittonne of toxic debt.

Germany (and a lot of europe) has tended lately to have more common interests with russia than US.

US&A is almost an afterthought on much of german tv coverage too.

JuliaS's picture

By controling the flow of spice Putin essentially gets to call elections across the EU. He can remove a politician simply by stepping on a hose and creating unfavorable economic conditions. Merkel has been on shaky ground more than once. Could've lost her spot already if it weren't for Russian selective generosity. All Putin had to do was remind her of that.

And as it's been repeated many times - winter is slowly approaching. You'll find many more Western politicians loosen up as things progress, else next time around they won't be lying about cold snaps  affecting the GDP.

Escrava Isaura's picture

Julia,

Merkel grew up in East German. Speaks Russian.

Germany is an industrial power. US is a financial power. Both deals are about to collapse.

Ukraine is small rent for the West, but major distraction and expense for Russia, especial in a war.

Iran is the real deal. US has some Saudi oil and its oil-rent income.

US has Iraq oil stored underground for later on (when TSHTF).

US has lots of leverage, but lives way beyond its means. Not an easy problem to solve without igniting a civil war.

JuliaS's picture

The saddest thing in this conflict is that Ukraine is broken beyond repair and even if all hypothetical paths are explored - nobody wants it. EU does not want the west where NATO trained Junta is segregated. They don't want Nazi's spilling over into their lands, like ISIS out of Syria. Those are real terrorists that will set fire to buildings and shoot people simply because they're pissed.

Russia wouldn't want to have any presense there either - not after Odessa. Ukraine cleansed itself of all the reminders of former association with USSR? Fine! You can keep your concrete pieces of Lenin's statures. Eat them if you like!

Russia will not do business with those people. Whatever land comes into Russian possession after the crisis will be used to rout shorter gas pipelines around the rest of Ukraine towards EU states the oligarchs still buy things from. Western Ukraine will get to keep its agriculture and its currency to barely remain afloat.

But when you unravel all the things like that, you understand why a new world war is almost inevitable. You see the certain disintegration of NATO, EU, IMF, the petrodollar. You see Russia taking over and that will not be allowed to happen. Germany was in a position to establish direct, no middle-men trade with Saudi Arabia. It united the entire world against it. Everyone rushed in to prevent the outcome and Germany lost.

Germany had a major weekness - no access to oil required to run the industrial machine. Russia has everything it needs and then some. So, only a direct invasion will do. An actual attack. Do now, find excuses and tweak history books later.

China's being coordinated into a controlled economic implosion also. It's being timed, as it would otherwise provide a critical ally to the neighbor. The West is waiting for China to go out of commission even if only temporarily. Just long enough to have a chance wrestling the bear to the gound. China wants land. The West hopes it can maybe persuade them to take chunks out of Russia East of Ural - open an 2nd front, but under no condition allow China to keep the gainst. The plan, most likely, is to wait for China to cough, poke Russia, persuade China to switch sides, open a second front, move in wiping out Western resistance and then neuter China by perhaps dropping a few nukes Chengdu to Beijing. It worked in Japan, didn't it?!

US hopes entire action will be segregated in Eurasia just like the last time. It made a huge mistake reveaing its hand - highlighting its involvement and making itself a primary target. At this point it's panic mode. They don't give an ass about secrecy, about hypocricy. They know what they want and it's now or never moment. Their hate glows with the power of thousand suns. If they drop bombs, the first dozen will be aimed straight for Putin's shiny head. They will not care about it being justified. The state department will not go on television with a hour-long press release. Obama will not read a passage out of a teleprompter. He will tweet: "Fuck it!"  and off we go into chaos, moving another step closer to Einstein's sticks and stones prophecy.

Meanwhile, Germany will express its one remaining regret - dismantling the Berin Wall that could've perhaps shielded at least a dozen people from a nuclear blast.

CrazyCooter's picture

I have felt for quite some time that Germany will simply partner up with Russia. In many ways, they are a strong match (e.g. German industrial base and Russian natural resources). Folks quickly forget the deep history between Germany and Russia.

Germany has already done financially what it tried twice to do militarily; subjigate Europe.

If Russia steps in and partners, Germany might hold onto what they have and Europe will pivot East.

THAT Is what the white house and its handlers are in a panic about.

I do agree it ends a big war, but I have a hard time figuring out who the teams are...

Regards,

Cooter

gcjohns1971's picture

"Folks quickly forget the deep history between Germany and Russia."

Do you mean Koenigsberg... ahem... Kaliningrad?  Where almost the entire population of a German city was butchered, and then displaced by imported Russians?

But of course that is too recent to be 'deep history'.

Maybe you mean the 'Triple Alliance' Germany made specifically against Russia during WWI?

Or do you mean the mennonites in Danzig and Vistula?  The ones that were forcibly, violently, driven out from 1860 to 1914...and ended up in Pennsylvania?

Or do you mean the 'Dual Alliance' of Germany and Austro-Hungary against Russia of 1879?

Or do you mean the strategic exclusion of Prussia (which became Germany) from the 'Concert of Europe' at Russian request in 1815?

Or do you mean the 'Seven-Years War' between Prussia (which became Germany) and Russia in the 1760's?

Or do you mean the 'War of Austrian Succession' where Prussia and Russia fought during the 1740's?

There is a 'deep history between German and Russia'.

But it seems to be the opposite of what you imply.

On the other hand, the majority of white Americans are the descendants of Germans.

If you take a whole bunch of Englishmen and Germans and put then in a wild continent, without its own governance or laws, and with few permanent native settlements - what you get is America.

Escrava Isaura's picture

Julia,

Wish I had time to go into what you wrote.

Anyway, love when you said "China's being coordinated into a controlled economic implosion also. It's being timed,..."

Not sure about timed.

The (world) Titanic is taking water, the dollars (US military) thinks it has a lifesaver by controlling Middle East and Pacific Ocean traffic.

However, US population is fucked beyond any chance, besides taking from Canada.

Merkel is fucked.

If she appears to be schizophrenic and talking from the both sides of her mouth is because she know whatever side she takes Germany is fucked.

If she sides with the US/Nato Russia shuts off the gas and Germany starves. If she sides with Russia, US/NATO will take her scalp.

So she is trying to sit on the fence and hope this thing sorts itself out.

A few weeks ago, Dr. Jim Willie said he heard weird stories that Merkel might step down. He said it was weird because she was fairly recently re-elected.

Jim has this The Voice connections who sounds like an old German or Swiss guy who knows the gold market very well and is connected.  He tells Jim about Chinese gold purchases, the criminal activity in London and theft of Saudi gold.  Supposedly this old guy has seen Russia's gold and supposedly it is the biggest in the world by far.

Putin supposedly was behind the Wesern Ukrainian commander stepping down. Sterlkov.  Very honorable and a Russian nationalist and anti-Leninist.  One of the White Army types. Putin was either concerned this man may become to popular in Russia orhe wanted a more Ukie face on the commanders in Western Ukraine.

So Merkel is under tons of pressure. The criminal junta in Kiev probably is.  Porky should be sent to the gallows with Yats and the rest.   Putin has a little pressure.  Obama and the criminal US govt will just go on their merry way.  Liberals will support him til the end.

schadenfreude's picture

She doesn't see the light now.

It's quite obvious that Europe doesn't want to have a conflict with Russia. Ukraine was never part of EU, it was always seen as a part of Russia. There wasn't a revolution to disband from USSR, as it was in other countries, after USSR collapsed. EU tried to reach a solution right before the Maidan killings, but "Fuck Europe" Nuland followed her agenda, which started this shit. EU and even more Germany are not free to make their own decisions without consent of USA. Now, after USA manouvered the situation into a lose-lose situation for all involved parties, Germany is allowed to find a solution.

Merkel is just doing "Realpoiltik". If this means a division of Ukraine, so be it. Ukraine was an artificial construct in the first place. But to bully Russia because of Ukraine is stupid. They have some severe interest, so why doing it?

swmnguy's picture

Jim Willie is a nut.  His nuttiness actually reinforces my appreciation for what he's good at.  He's incredibly tuned in to the ongoing collapse of the global finance system.  Over the past 8 years or so since I started reading his stuff, he's been off on timing a little bit, but who hasn't.  The general pattern and trend he's had cold.  Most people I've encountered who have an almost otherworldly grasp on one topic tend to be completely bonkers on something else. Once I discover their "King Charles' Head" fixation, I'm reassured as to their genius on their main topic.
