Ukraine Accuses Russia Of Launching Invasion, Then Promptly Retracts

Tyler Durden's picture

It has been a busy morning: following a substantial surge in Ukraine separatist activity in the past 24 hours, which saw them capture the strategic Sea of Azov port town of Novoazovsk, a move which the NYT classified as "Ukraine Reports Russian Invasion on a New Front", Ukraine has turned on the disinformation spigot to max resulting in a constant verbal, and headline, diarrhea as follows:

  • POROSHENKO CONVENES SECURITY COUNCIL ON RUSSIAN `INVASION'
  • POROSHENKO: SITUATION IN UKRAINE'S EAST DETERIORATED SHARPLY
  • UKRAINE EU AMBASSADOR CALLS FOR JOINT EFFORT TO `STOP THIS WAR'
  • POROSHENKO SAYS SECURITY COUNCIL WILL DRAW UP FURTHER PLANS
  • RUSSIAN ARMY CONTROLS NOVOAZOVSK: UKRAINE SECURITY COUNCIL
  • YATSENYUK URGES UN SECURITY COUNCIL TO DEBATE UKRAINE SITUATION

So sure was Ukraine that this time (unlike all those previous disinformation launches) Russia has invaded that Anton Herashchenko, adviser to Ukrainian Interior Ministry, actually commented on his Facebook page saying "Invasion of regular Russian army of Putin to Ukraine is an accomplished fact,” Adding that Putin "de-facto places Ukraine on a war-footing at a time when a decree was signed to dissolve parliament."

Well, yes, Ukraine has no government, but Russia of course denied all of it:

  • PESKOV WON'T COMMENT ON REBEL CLAIM OF RUSSIAN TROOP SUPPORT

All of this latest disinformation propaganda was summarized by Reuters best:

Ukraine accused Russia on Thursday of mounting an invasion in the southeast of the country in support of pro-Moscow separatist rebels. Ukraine's security and defense council said the border town of Novoazovsk and other parts of Ukraine's south-east had fallen under the control of Russian forces who together with rebels were staging a counter-offensive.

"A counter-offensive by Russian troops and separatist units is continuing in south-east Ukraine," the council said in a post on Twitter.

President Petro Poroshenko, in a statement explaining his decision to cancel a visit to Turkey, said: "An invasion of Russian forces has taken place."

Russia denies intervening in Ukraine by arming the rebels or sending soldiers across the border. The defense ministry declined to comment on reports of Russian tanks in Novoazovsk.

“The Russian authorities clearly said many times there are no regular Russian troops there. Russia is not taking part in this armed conflict,” said a Russian diplomatic source. The latest escalation in the five-month crisis came only two days after the presidents of the two countries held their first talks in more than two months and agreed to work towards launching a peace process.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk appealed to the United States, European Union and G7 countries "to freeze Russian assets and finances until Russia withdraws armed forces, equipment and agents". Rebel advances this week have opened a new front in the conflict just as Ukraine's army appeared to have gained the upper hand, virtually encircling the separatists in their main strongholds of Donetsk and Luhansk.

Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, said on Facebook: "The invasion of Putin’s regular Russian army of Ukraine is now an established fact!"

French President Francois Hollande said it would be "intolerable and unacceptable" if it was proved true that Russian troops had entered Ukrainian territory.

So a lot of words all of which were best summarized by Ukraine's Prime Minister in dissolutia, Yatseniuk, who as a reminder does not have an official role any more after the Ukraine government was dissolved (on Twitter) last week:

  • PUTIN STARTED WAR IN EUROPE, UKRAINE’S PREMIER YATSENYUK SAYS

Ok so far so good: accusations, counteraccusations - we are used to that.

But where things once again got surreal, making everyone not only laugh but wonder how the CIA has lost the plotline so badly, was the following "clarification" headline from Reuters, which noticed some rather substantial change in the language on the website of the Ukraine president:

  • CORRECTED-UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT POROSHENKO SAYS RUSSIAN TROOPS HAVE BEEN BROUGHT INTO UKRAINE (NOT 'RUSSIAN MILITARY INVASION HAS TAKEN PLACE') - PRESIDENTIAL WEBSITE

Indeed, instead of explicitly saying a "Russian military invasion has taken place", the website now reads: "I have made a decision to cancel my working visit to the Republic of Turkey due to sharp aggravation of the situation in Donetsk region, particularly in Amvrosiivka and Starobeshevo, as Russian troops were actually brought into Ukraine," the President noted."

For all those wondering if to BTFATH or STFR, please sit tight until Ukraine gets its marching orders from the US State Dept whether to brand the "Russian troops being brought into Ukraine" as an invasion, or merely an accidental crossing, depending on how all of this will impact US strategy in Syria, which all of this is really all about: because remember, if and when the US begins to bomb the Assad regime under the guise it is fighting ISIS, all it will do is greenlight Qatar sending its gas pipeline to Europe... which after all has been the plan all along since 2012.

So stay tuned as this "socially-networked war" comedy unfolds before our eyes.

"POROSHENKO CONVENES SECURITY COUNCIL ON RUSSIAN `INVASION'"

Wazzimean, Russian invasion? He's referring to the humanitarian convoy?

"how the CIA has lost the plotline so badly"?

By not knowing anything about the history of Ukraine, that's how. They thought Ukraine was one country. It's not. It's a fiction made up of two separate entities at odds with each other. Had they known about that (any history book would have done), they would have figured out any tampering with the country was going to result in civil war.
Trouble is, they only read comics.

If the CIA can't solve a problem by giving people guns, cash, LSD, heart attacks, or drone attacks, then it can't solve a problem, but it will try.

And the NSA only knows the plotline if people share it on social media, burners, or unencrypted email.

And the media only knows the plotline if high level officials speaking on the condition of anonymity know the plotline.

Two possible explanations for this flood of lies :

- The Ukrainians are complete retards (shall we blame Chernobyl for their mental deficency?)

- they're advised by a complete retard : Ms Nuland

I have a fourth.  Kiev is shitting their pants because the rebels have not been defeted yet and winter is right around the corner.  The west or the east will not send in overt aid that will win for one side or the other and spoil the "Russia is the agressor" story that's the west has pain-stakingly built up over months.  (lol - NDA on a planecrash investigation)

Kiev knows that popular support will fade once the snow starts flying, and the rebels just have to hold on until winter and they win.  Kiev is in a funding (IMF) rock and a season (winter) hardplace.

The situation in Ukraine reminds me of the inital stages of litigation where each side threatens, bluffs and makes great satements of principal in defending their clients. And as is the case with most litigation there comes a time for a negotiated end by means of some compromse brne out of latent common sense. The small percentage that go the full way with the litigation rarely get a better outcome. Court costs or in this case armed conflict costs are never recouped in full.

A nice sentiment, but I fear that the "armed conflict costs" stable door was opened long ago and the horse has bolted. If common sense is latent, we patiently await its emergence.

If there is any doubt left as to whether or not the US Deep State MSM is completely controlled, compare the situation maps published by the BBC with those published by the eastern militias such as appear at

     http://cassad-eng.livejournal.com

It used to be (many years ago) that MSM, while repeating the agenda of TPTB, could still be used to make informed decisions as there was *some* information that leaked through. No longer. The MSM are content free! There is nothing there at all other than the propaganda.

Amazing how blatant the BBC is with their Zionist crap... the only silver lining is that they are permanantly tarnishing their reputation as being worth anything (other than to find out what the official US/Mosaad/MI6/SA party line is)

Tanks came in into Ukraine from Russian border and invaded first city. Before that there where no fighting going on. Russia opened new invasion front there. Task is to invade deep into Ukraine in oreder to creat teritory that would link Russia with occupied Crimea. Now its isolated and you have to wait in line for 40 hours to get your turn on ferry.

It is inaccurate to say there was no fighting before tank(s) entered Ukraine from Russia.  YouTube showed one obsolete tank cruising around Ukraine roads but the separatists have raided police armories and captured Ukraine army's abandoned weapons for months.

Unlikely. The trains take longer than 8 hours. I rode one to Dnepropritosk once from Kyiv. Tanks are a lot slower than trains, and would be shot at. Plus, Putin knows a russian body count will kill his popularity at home. The west can just sit back as Putin destroys Ukraines historical ties with Russia for little gain other than Crimea and a bucket of sour grapes. Ukraine was Russias bigest traiding partner and supplier of farm goods. My friends in Moscow are stockpiling macaroni, soap and other long term items in anticipation of a long problem. The educated and middle class in Moscow is very unhappy with the present direction, but the poor and less educated are proud of Putin as a strong man. The poor, uneducated, mostly rural population has not become used to western style comforts and fresh varied food. I wil be traveling to both Sochi and Kyiv in the next few months and will have a better direct view then.

That aside, my dear Tylers, I think the big story here is, more than 10 years after Valerie Plame, the NYT is absolutely the mouthpiece of the shadow government, still - that story was pure war propaganda, reporting as fact completely unsubstantiated allegations.  This is after the convoy, after an effort, if you recall, to blame the Russian separatists for the massacre of Russian separatists in Odessa.  After the fake leaflets warning Jews to register - a clumsy attempt to reverse just which side actually employed actual fascist thugs.

The Times worked very hard to gin up a war with Syria as well - recall that Seymour Hersh couldn't even get his piece published in the US.  Hersh has more contacts in military intelligence than probably any other reporter.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/08/seymour-hersh-syria-report_n_44...

He couldn't get a piece published...

For decades, maybe outright centuries control of the press was important for both economic and military reasons.  Hollywood villified "the Hun" before the US entered ww1 even though Germans were and are the single biggest ethnic group...  the next largest, the Irish, had no desire to go to war to help Britain even as the Irish were fighting for their freedom again...   yet the Balfour declaration was in large part a deal with "international Jewry"  -global Zionism, basically, to cajole the United States into the ww1, a war it had no business getting into, in exchange for a British promise to give "Jews" land the Brits didn't control, had no right to give away, and on which most of he world's Jews had not set foot in well over 1500 years...  Hollywood and news media was integral to that effort.  The Zimmerman telegram was really a response to increasing American bellicosity and covert support for Britain...the Lusitania, of course, being just one of many ships carrying arms - using the passengers as "human shields" - which is a great crime when not done by Americans or Israelis, it seems.

In sum - and take it for what little it is worth from semi-anon internet guy...  the Times almost certainly has not only CIA "minders" but reporters who are basically CIA - American sayanim.  If you read the articles, and the headline and use of photos very slowly and carefully, then go over to WashPo or the WSJ - you begin to see patterns which go beyond group think.

The Times is, once again, even after all the death and destruction, all needless, of the Iraq war, trying to lead the US into wars on Syria, and Iran and on Russia.  The first two are the pet projects of the neocons - essentially Zionist Jews, if we may simply speak the blunt truth.  Russia, of course, has also been a target of the neocons, and certainly the large banks and banking dynasties, but it has also had an oligarchical class that was mostly Jewish, with hundreds of billions stolen, much ending up in the UK and Israel...  but the "realists" - really just neocons without the Zionist core, think that a limited war with Russia would be a good thing.  They are banking on it staying "limited" - meaning potential use of tactical nukes.

I don't see many genuine reporters out there, and I don't see many people protesting the Times' bias - and I'm not framing this like they need to be pro-Putin to be balanced.  They don't - they simply need to stop printing rumour as fact, and slanting their language and using PsyOps 201 parlour tricks.

But most of the people commenting there - presumably smarter than the average 2 party voting cunt - I mean, they're all in, baby.  Putin is the new Hitler, the US military needs to defend Ukraine and bomb Syria and ISIS and fight terror in Africa and for the shadow government and the CIA mafia, all is ging according to plan...

A real Project Mayhem is needed, that is, if we don't want to see a war involving tactical nukes, starvation, riots, and martial law.

It's coming.  I know the boys have cried wolf... but the wolf eventually came....

Yes, but when this wolf comes it will come as a financial not military army and its buddy, China, will be at its side.

This is another 'cry wolf' from Mr P. It is happening so often that the heads of other governments who do not rely on the MSM for their news must be getting bored with it.

It also has an unfortunate side effect as it is all blasted out on Ukrainian MSM so his sheeple believe it too.

So now when Kiev is not doing well and a few Militia troops pop up round a corner, the cry goes up 'the Russians are coming', there is instant panic and everyone, including defending volunteer troops, runs for the hills.

No wonder small raiding parties are 'capturing' large swathes of land.

Meanwhile, everytime Mr P opens his mouth, inadvertantly he puts his foot in it. He may be a chocolate billionaire but he can't run a country.

So it seems that "Andrew E. Kramer" is the new Judith Miller, playing Abbott to Michael Gordon's Costello?  Nobody at the New York Times has any shame, it seems.  They should just reprint photocopies of CIA psy-op press releases; save them a couple salaries re-formatting them for print.

Russia has to give to Syrians the best AAMs,  SA-missiles.. S-300 does not make any sense here, but other advanced tech. and SS missiles. With a range of 1000km to hit Quatar and emir in his pallace and Rhiad. Syria should start the training on those missiles already now.
