"Happy" Labor Day

Tyler Durden's picture

As the weekend's celebration of 'labor' in America continues, the following cartoon seemed to sum it all up perfectly...

Source: Cagle

And, as we discussed here, some 'labor' is not as exuberant as others...

FACT: There is a record divergence between the exuberant 'rich' and crushed 'middle class'

I can't stand this commie-envy bullshit.

If any of you were able to figure out a way to make millions and billions a year, you would do it.  If someone gave you, as a gift, millions and billions, you would all take it, like a bunch of greedy fucking rats.

Then you'd hire bankers, tax attorneys, accountants, whoever, to help you invest it, invert it, kaboot it, shoot it, and toot it to your kids and their kids ad infinitum.

Envy.  It's what's for dinner, comrades!

If your household income is at the 1% level you're FAR closer to the absolute bottom - you have more in common with the '0%' than you do with the 0.1%.

The curve is exponential with most of the wealth held by a VERY few at the VERY top.  One way to illustrate:

http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2006/09/the-height-of-inequa...

Keep in mind that the 7 Walmart heirs are worth more than 40% of the rest of the US COMBINED.   One of them wants to 'give back' and is opening an art museum in Bentonville Arkansas.  I suspect that a REAL way of 'giving back' would be to let people work FULL TIME (instead of employing a majority on a contrived and deliberately limited 'part time basis) and give then real benefits.... but that might actually cost Walmart stock owners money.....

Most of the higher wages and incomes are paid in places where the cost of living is commensorately high as well - lowering the buying power of those supposedly 'high' incomes.  For example - I live in NY, my brother lives in NC.  The DOWNPAYMENT on my house was more than his house cost  - roughly comparable sizes though he has far more property.  MY property taxes are literally 20 times higher than his.  State income taxes are vastly higher here and other vosts are far higher.   The offset is that schools for his kids are horrid - ours are 'ok'.  His income tops out under $100,000 - outr potential income is far higher.  But his lifestyle for the first 20 years of adult life was far better than ours.  Why stay in NY?  It's where the jobs are - for us.     We've met enough people all over the country working 5 jobs between them as a married couple to simply 'get by' - the small ranch owners in Utah where they both work the ranch, he works in the feed store and is in the National Guard (big surprise on THAT for him) while she waitresses and works for the County.  All too common throughout the US.  It seems to work out 'better' if you put the same hours in on one higher end job.

Here is the reality of labor day in the land of the fee and the home of the slave:

To be born and die as a slave of the 0.1%, completely controlled by the banksters and a fascist, police state, poisoned by GMO foods and fluoridated water, relentlessly spied upon, terrorized at every turn by imaginary enemies, humiliated by a militarized police and homeland security, and worked to death.  Oh, and the 250 million arrests by your friendly police in the land of ths slave in the last 20 years is surely icing on the cake. At least, you have a president who looks marvelous in a taupe suit.

Woman working 4 jobs to make ends meet dies while napping in car between shifts

A New Jersey woman who worked four jobs, who sometimes “wouldn’t sleep for five days,” according to a co-worker, died Monday while napping between shifts in her car on the side of the road.

Maria Fernandes died in her 2001 Kia Sportage after inhaling carbon monoxide and fumes from an overturned gas container she kept in the car, according to the New York Daily News.

O.K., let's figure out the terms here.

U.S.: Originated in the CONUS ('daily mail.com slash U.K.' doesn't qualify.)

MSM (MAINSTREAM MEDIA): THIS would be places that you hear on your radio or see on your television or read in your nationally-published newspaper. This would be along the lines of PMSNBCCBSABCFAUXUSATODAYNYTIMES.

Arianna's Huffpo and New Jersey (anything) don't quite qualify here. NY Daily News is like 'The National Enquirer', but far less popular (Their next headline is coming, describing the space aliens who have assimilated Elvis).

MSM 'editors picks': 'Celeb chef charged with DWI'

MSM 'headlies': '22 movies to look forward to this fall'

Do you get the idea?

I found this story several hours before the ZH posted it, by the way (using NONE of the links you try to use to 'prove' your 'point').

Why would the rich want people to be unemployed? Why would they not want them to acquire a marketable skill and earn a good living?

I don't see how that would gain them anything.

Would some progressive income re-distributer give me an honest straight up answer rather than a bunch of nasty comments.  Maybe I can learn something.

I have worked for and been paid really well by a two people that were rich (few billion $ of net worth each) I have never been hired by a poor person.

If you can answer this question then maybe you could also go two for two and tell me --

Which person is greedier?

The one that makes a lot of money - pays a boat load of taxes - and is considered rich.

or

The one that sits on their ass all day and expects the government to keep taking money from the rich guy and giving it to them so they don't have to work.

The partners who owned the company where I used to work would routinely lay-off people just weeks before bonus time.  Employees would do a good year's work and then get shafted by the greedy owners.  No different from harassing the waitress at a restaurant and then stiffing her for the tip.  The state allows the company to let people go without cause and there's such an abundance of talent available that the partners constantly screw people without regard.

They sound like ass holes - what type of business?

I worked at a CPA firm for 3 years - they had a similar policy - they at least told you when you were hired - you move up or you get fired at year end.  You moved up by generating billable hours.

It was a simple system - you produce you get paid - you don't you get fired.

They did at least pay people what they were owned when they fired them   - but from my understanding the people that were fired were not due much anyway - the people that had earned the big bonus had also made the firm a lot of money so they wanted to keep them around.

Why did people keep working for them?

You were a CPA, but you don't know how to cut costs at a business? What? You sound like a political hack on the Liberal Capitalism at all costs side.

Take Taco Bell.

Taco Bell has a new Dollar Menu. http://www.tacobell.com/food/menu/dollar-cravings-menu Dollar Cravings Menu, I just saw a great TV Spot Ad for these big juicy mini Quesadillas. But 2 days ago I got one and wondered where the chicken was. It was a shmeer of chicken and some sause in a wheat tortilla.

http://www.tacobell.com/food/specialties/Shredded-Chicken-Mini-Quesadilla

Bull crap. And same with their breakfast.

High Prices, small portions, low quality or low substance.

Biggest costs are Labor Related.

Cut labor coast by keeping the border open, keep DHS from enforcing US Laws on Illegal Immigrants, Buy off US Congress, implement Obama Care, ACA, to reduce hours worked by labor force, invest in Retail or Hospitality businesses where you can use part time labor & illegal Immigrants... Use national Policy on Open Borders and Amnesty to lower US Wages in all low skill or Service Industries,... Support the Chamber of Commerce and their use of Off-Shore Production, H1B Foreign Visas for Skilled workers, Network with Chamber of Commerce Members to repeat the "Meme" that you can't find skilled labor and to use the Strategy that you will not Move Brick and mortar businesses to other cities or states, Refuse to conduct on the Job Training, Refuse Apprenticeship Programs, Deny there is an other solution for National Skills development or on the Job Training like Internships.

Of course as CPA you must push for Off-Shore Incorporation for US Corporations, and tax shelters.

H1B Visas for Foreign Skilled workers was just a natural development from Head Hunters pressures and Chamber Of Commerce solutions to off shore.

Cut Costs everywhere, but after 1970 US Production cost rose with safety regulations from OSHA and from Union Benefits and Worker Rights... there had to be a "Backlash".

Yes, Chelsea and Biden's son. Hell all politicians are all about legacy for their families... They know it is a game for them and other wealthy people. It is all about winning. We cut costs and wages... just to prove a point. It is about power and after worker rights and OSHA... it is all that much more important to be secretive and covert about looting America.

all-priced-in;

Well like Mr. CPA above who doesn't acknowledge how to cut costs in a capitalist business...

- Say I start a bank... oh, look the number of total banks is declining... and by the way they are all Private banks... what does that mean?

http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/USNUM (total number of Banks, Downward Trend)

Niall Ferguson says we need more opportunities for people to access banks, credit & Money (Ascent of Money, his book). The problems is that poor people pay 1000 times the cost of money for their pay day loans or to access credit. But he says all progress is due to Credit. A little bit controversial here for both the left & the right.

Surely it is more freedom & Liberty.

Well say I have a good idea for business model... and I have to fight a big corporation in Law Suit since they don't like competition and want to put me out of business. USA is law Suit Crazy... only a crazy man would deny this.

Well... chances are funny boy I lose. The giant corporation can network with the US or State Judge and can hire unlimited Legal Assistance to take me on and drain my capital available for fighting in Court.

- No Mystery Mr. CPA. The Small Guy in the USA just like Asia ...loses. Business is bankrupt or closed down.
- In fact it is much worse than that... even without Obama Care which is probably a Chamber of Commerce Favorite... US corporations Own the US Government
- When the US Congress was bought off we don't know... 1913, 1933, 1971, or in the Citizens United Ruling, many possible dates make sense to different Americans
- But you are not American... you are not about Sovereignty... you would rather steal sovereignty from other countries than support Freedom & Liberty.

- You are the brain washed or the Predator... you will always survive and live with us. It all comes down to how we are able to manage you and control you

Hear about this stuff alot. Knew a guy, commercial mortgage sales, routinely got screwed by his sales manager on the commission. Apparently the manager and the two owners would dip their hands into his commission, give him what's left. When confronted about it, the thieves said, "It's due us."

He got his revenge though, in some part. He finally fled, taking his clients with him and made one of the owner's wives wise to the fact there was a second "wife" living in a free apartment, paid for by the loyal husband/owner.

George Carlin had some really funny stuff

But the rich pay most of the income taxes - this is just a fact.

I don't see much on income distribution VS total taxes paid - but suspect that the rich still pay WAY FUCKING more in taxes(income, sales, property, estate, whatever)  PER CAPITA than poor and middle class folks do.

Is this even up for debate?

Sure - let's be "progressive" and use the % of income method -

What is that line? something like  -  From each according to his ability, to each according to his need

On a percentage of income basis?

The rich aren't rich because they are better than everyone else, but because they are better at theft and have the power to rig the system in their own interests, than honest folk.

Is this even up for debate?

From me according to my ability I make my life. To the greedy government/banksters according to the threat they hold over honest folks heads.

You pose an interesting question.

"Why would the rich want people to be unemployed?"

Let me ask YOU a question in response.

WHY would someone who's actually RICH give a flying FUCK if people are employed or not?

The only concern of the rich is to keep or 'grow' their riches. If the employment of people at menial wages suits their needs, they pay people to get people to work for this goal. IF it costs them MONEY, they pay people to FIRE people. They couldn't really GIVE A SHIT if the 'little people' can eat, or survive, because they are RICH. FILTHY RICH. It does NOT effect them in any way whatsoever.

As far as the question of 'TAXES' is concerned, the RICH (the REALLY RICH) don't pay a fucking DIME. Your perception of 'rich' is obviously based upon someone who is 'fairly-well off' (as the FUCKING RICH PEOPLE define the term; which is actually a mind-fuck to fool those who are on the so-called 'upper strata' of WAGE-EARNING SLAVES like those who are employed by the REALLY FUCKING RICH to take care of hiring and firing and finding tax loopholes).

Those who 'sit on their ass all day' and collect 'welfare' are paid out of the coffers of those who still work and those who are told to think they have money (unlike the REALLY, FILTHY FUCKING RICH, who don't have to contribute at all). These are being defined as 'useless eaters', and have been collated and recorded for TERMINATION (by the 'RICH BEYOND THE DREAMS OF AVARICE').

I won't down-arrow your question. It is a valid one.

I assume that you don't comprehend that there are people who are truly evil on this planet; and that all you have been programmed to accept as 'reality' is mostly a LIE.

The RICH don't 'employ' you. They ENSLAVE you (by decieving you in to thinking that the paper fiat they offer; that they make you think is worth something; will offset your labor, which they re-claim in the form of taxation, tarriffs, and 'peer-pressured' purchases of goods that they own and control (your wife and children will HATE you if you don't get them all i-Phones and x-Boxes and Cable Television; and if you don't watch the corporate-run sport game with the boys, you're probably a faggot!).

I post this video link too much, I suppose.

Just because someone like Corzine can get away with murder is not because he's rich. It's because he has real political connections that you don't have.

If you could get away with what Corzine has done, you would.  You'd rather be free than go to jail.

It's human nature.

It isn't that some people are inherent evil just because they have money.  It's just that most people who can get away with a crime, will commit that crime over and over again.

Lots of poor criminals followed that formula but when they got caught, they did their time.  How many crimes have most poor people committed before they got caught and jailed for that one time?

Looks at John Thain.  Backstabbed his mentor, Corzine, and got him kicked out of GS.  Left for Merrill but then he got the fucking boot there too.  Now he's at CIT.  He has no incentive to change unless he gets punished.  I'm sure he's taken the lesson of stabbing Jon in the back and redecorating his office while his employers were getting laid off in Merrill to heart.  Now, he's chill at CIT doing what he's supposed to be doing.

Punishment. It's what's for dinner.

It isn't about that.  It is about power.  The .01% control the money supply.  To maintain this control they have to control the government.  To control the government they have to control the voters.  The voter who sits unemployed waiting for a check fits this role perfectly.

Suppose you could print $85B/mo and distribute it to the rich (to banks who pay enormous salaries to executives).  Then you tax them on the earnings they make from that money.  A fraction of that tax then goes to pay for welfare.  Oh and while you are at it, pay them a few for handling the transaction and then when the loan (FED money creation means debt that has to be repaid) is paid back hand out a 6% from the profits to... the people who own the banks.

It isn't just money printing either.  Interest rates are manipulated for the same purposes.  Laws and regulations are manipulated.  The more convoluted the law/regulations are the more of an advantage it is to the large corporations (being people, they are uber rich people) as they can afford the armies of lawyers, accountants, and lobbists.  Every move is made to give more power and wealth to the powerful and wealthy few.  The other side of every move is to strip wealth and power from everyone else.

Now, the billionaires you've known might be nice people.  They might also be greedily taking advantage of their position instead of fighting the corruption and graft in the system.  The way the system is designed, they have a chance of doing so, not you.

Good luck.  You will never be rich.  You will never be powerful.  Go back to work and pay your taxes (no doubt at a higher rate than your billionaire buddies).  Just be glad you aren't waiting on a gov't check and working for cash making more than you do now, with subsidized HC and all else.  Then you would be a slave.

Why would rich people want people to be unemployed?

Rich people want poor people to be unemployable, so that they can be disposed of. It's why they're busy building robots that can do the jobs of poor people.

I mean, let's imagine the world through the eyes of the 0.1% for just a second:

Solar panels creating all of the electricity they need for their small population, no horrid factory smog, no windmills blocking their view of the lakes and oceans, robot butlers that never grow tired/go postal/ask for raises, every whim catered via their favorite apps...

The 0.1% don't need jobs, don't want jobs, and they don't want to create a large complicated system just to keep the dogs happy on the scraps. That just creates waste to be disposed of. Better to get rid of the whole problem all together.

It's just about time for TPTB to take all of us work-horses to the glue factory.

Post Office Paid $287K for Trucks It Can’t Find

The sum of $287,000 may seem like a tiny drop in the bucket when it comes to Washington's astronomical spending totals.

But at a time when the United States Postal Service has been bleeding literally billions of dollars, spending even that amount on a fleet of vehicles it now cannot locate, and never actually could, is worth a bit of a pause.

A report in Government Executive this morning notes that while USPS spends about $39 million a year to rent 10,000 trailers—the cargo bodies of its trucksit also leased 35 trailers in fiscal years 2011 and 2012 to a distribution center in New Jersey.

"There was one problem with these particular trailers, however: The Postal Service had no idea where they were, according to the agency's inspector general, or if it ever even received them from the leasing company," explained Government Executive.

Did you ever consider thsat what you are posting might actually be REALITY?

There are two possibilities:

Either, the trucks/trailers don't acually exist; OR the trucks/trailers DO exist. If they DON'T EXIST, then it's a joke, and an 'accounting error'.

If they DO exist, there are two possibilities:

They arrived at the destination, or they DIDN'T.

Since people employed at the facility claim they didn't arrive, we need to assume that they didn't (for the benefit of the doubt).

For those who fancy 'conspiracy theory' (and remember the Spielberg movie 'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind'), these USPS vehicles might be used to transport all kinds of scientific equipment and mobile power stations and stuff to some remote location in the hopes of contacting aliens in really big spaceships who have cute little bodies and gangly arms and legs and really big eyes.

HOWEVER:

The USGCONUS isn't quite so innocent as this, is it?

'His head was seen to move violently forward, to the right.' (cut to video by Dan Rather: CBS news)

"No one is going to pull over a USPS truck."

That's NO 'sarc' (no shit, Sherlock).

I have spinal not anal problems. Think my pneumonia coughing fucked up my spine.

Tell you a cute story. This morning we hit the market about 8:00 am. Mrs Atomizer likes to expand her backyard garden. We bought lemon, lime, orange plants. Cannot remember the name of the other plant. She is diligently trying to find someone with a coconut tree. She moves the car and the vendor loads up the vehicle. She tells the vendor, I'll be back. Next thing you hear.. The owner of the black 4 door sedan blah, blah. Bearing South Carolina plate blah, blah needs to move their car immediately. Your blocking a exhibitor. She looks at me and I started laughing. I said, told you not to leave the car there.

Anyhow, told her to split up and get to the car before they tow it. I walk slow for a 47 year old man. So I spot General Dynamics building and hobble my way back to the car. I meet up with a afro-American exhibitor guy. I apologize up and down.

I'm calling her without any reply. On the last phone attempt, she answers and says how did you find the car before I did? I reply General Dynamics and common sense.

Life is full of great experiences. Just last night, was in the doghouse for blogging to much on Zerohedge. I love my little barking wife.

Oil and gas comes here every two decades to defecate, and once they're gone, the rest of us either suffer or prosper.

I'm writing this from my office at the moment as I've worked all weekend and will work tomorrow as well as great time to catch up. This is now the life of middle management in corporate Amerika.

Two colleagues this week got the axe. One whose been with the company for 22 years and the other for a dozen. Both good men. But it is Lord of Flies nowadays and the weak get killed off by the strong and connected.

The only response I can see is to make one's self indispensible - which explains my presence here. There are good moments, but mostly it is doing the work of 7 people in my office with 3. And I can't ask my gals to work the hours I do as I can't pay them enough for that trade off.

I feel fortunate though as I know at least a half dozen guys in mid life who have lost 6 figure management jobs that they know they will never have again - divorce, bankruptcy, unhappy kids are typical results.

No one is safe though - I occasionally wake up in cold sweat from a nightmare of wearing an orange apron.

Happy Labour Day!

There is a continuous stream of propaganda and fantasy about how the wealthy elites, bankers, corporate executive, etc etc etc  are impoverishing and enslaving the middle-class, workers, ordinary people, etc etc etc. Pure crap. Here is the irrefutable reality by example, looking at one of my employees paystub:

Gross Pay: $3,500

Earnings Confiscated for Federal & State Taxes: $900 = 25.7%

This is his net earnings AFTER state & federal income filings and all the deductions and exemptions  available to him. This is just the loss of his earnings due to income taxes and does not include sales tax on almost everything he buys and absurdly high property taxes to pay for the hyper-bloated salaries and benefits packages paid to the local government extortionists, ie employees, thanks to their unions which are allowed  to operate legalized extortion rackets.

The earnings confiscated by government are the reason why my employees cannot pay their living expenses and save for their retirements. NONE of these confiscated earnings are being paid by the politicians to the scapegoats, ie the wealthy. elites, bankers. etc, but according to the IRS 80% of the federal budget is being spent on entitlement programs for the proletariat, ie food stamps, disability, social security, medicare, obamacare, benefits for illegal economic invaders, etc etc, NOT the wealthy. elites, bankers. etc, etc.

Socialism by the exploding horde of proletariat parasites is the huge drain sucking the life force and $$$ out of ordinary middle-class Americans, NOT the tiny minority of parasites at the top of the food chain operating their financial engineering schemes and crony capitalism, BUT the socialist parasite hordes who live off the entitlement programs want to distract you from this truth by blaming others for the confiscation of your earnings so that you don’t rebel against the parasites who live directly off your every paycheck.

Stay focused on this reality and just imagine how much better your life would be if you kept all of your earnings every paycheck instead of having so much confiscated by corrupt politicians to buy the votes of the parasite hordes with socialist programs. Just imagine how much wealthier you would be if you kept all of your earnings through your entire working lifetime – it is a huge number !

While I agree that socialism is cancer it appears you might have one of the side effects - confusion.

Socialism is for the poor, not the socialist.  Ask yourself who is getting right off of this socialism you decry?  It isn't the poor, that's for sure.  It isn't the middle class which is dying and becoming poor.  It isn't the wealthy who are simply staying wealthy.  Could it be the uber wealthy who are getting wealthier and who have their hopes, dreams, and ambitions enacted in government policy over the concerns of all others?

No, it couldn't be that.

How Can Anyone possibly vote your comment down. You are exactly correct. I wore a "conservative" (obvious logo) themed ball cap to walmart the other day and didn't think that I would get out of there alive. The hate was palpable; the animals know where there food comes from and that is called the "government."

Meanwhile, none of the young women are getting married and why should they? Why should the fathers of these children marry the mothers? It's like being subsidized to have sex and who cares if children are the result since they are virtually "free", just like the Oboma phone!

My neighbor's son has a pretty good job, making decent money. They *him and so-called fiance* are having second baby. Both babies: paid medical by the state. Food: paid for by the state called WIC and food stamps. The fiance and the two kids get free medical, from the state, of course.

The "state" has destroyed all incentive for these young people to get to marriage and stay married. Used to be we married because we wanted to be partners in life, to have a home and children but the "state" is now the partner so anytime there's a rift, no incentive to work it out.

Here's top three places to cut govt spending so we aren't taxed so damn much to pay for those we don't know, don't care about, and even those we think are disgusting (like I said...was at walmuch recently and if those people don't come out of sewer holes somewhere I don't know where they come from):

So cut this:

1. If secret service accompanies a former president to a Paying speaking engagement (for instance), charge the son-of-a-beech the going rate for secret service pay. America doesn't have to pay for a former president to make MORE money; they get a PENSION FOR LIFE! Same thing for any social gatherings, vacations and so forth. These guys get a pension, let them pay their own way if they want to make more money or play golf (chortle)!

2. Govt could be cut in half if the govt workers were doing their jobs instead of running their ebay (and other online selling websites) from the govt office all day. NO MORE. Cut govt workers in half and govt will run twice as efficiently. Govt jobs are now given to the foreigners who just got here in order to say they aren't on the welfare; so they get YOUR job in your country in your govt.

NO new immigrat (deliberately misspelled) should be allowed to hold a govt job for at least ten years. They ARE Supposed to be self-supporting when they get here. Taking OUR govt jobs is not self-supporting. And remember that guy from homeland security with the "Hate white people" website? He was a new immigrant. We don't need anymore immigrants. We full up.

3. And that measn we don't translate anything into Any Other Language. We speak English. No translations for schools, for govt or anybody. Learn English or leave, and that means the people of Chicago too.

And that means Josh Earnest (Oboma's spokesperson) too. Apparently Josh doesn't know that the work is "for" not "fer." And it would be nice if the so-called president would not use the word "got" which he does constantly and he uses it incorrectly when he does use it. What idjats. Could we just have a little proper English, please! Or do all those degrees that Oboma and Josh have come with a complete failure of proper English?

Not that it will ever happen, but imagine how different life would be if rather than taxes being deducted from paychecks, employees received the full amount and then had to write a check each month to the state and federal government. Tylers hate union labor, minimum wage labor, teachers, lawyers, bankers, realtors, on and on. robots, child labor in bangledesh, and billionaire hedge fund maggots are the only people who seem to meet with their approval.

Timing a market top is difficult. Last labor day I wrote the article below. It is appropriate because it is about money the main thing so many people trade their labor for. Again, I offer it up with some minor updates. Many people work hard for their money and even harder to save a bit of it but are lulled into complacency when it comes to protecting it.

One of the saddest thing to witness is someone who has worked so hard loose all their money when an investment turns south. This reminds me of the story about how many people describe going bankrupt, slowly at first then quickly at the end. This market has far exceeded the upside expectations of many bulls while the economy has languished and in many respects failed to regain all the ground lost since 2007. The question I put forth below is, are we reaching the turning point?
