Here Is Why Europe Just Launched The "Nuclear Option" Against Russia
Europe's leaders, we assume under pressure from Washington, appear to be making a big weather-related bet with their taxpayers' lives this winter. As they unleash funding sanctions on Russia's big energy producers, Europe has pumped a record volume of natural gas into underground inventories in an effort to 'outlast' Russia and mitigate any Napoleonic "Winter War" scenario. The plan appears to be to starve Russian energy firms of cashflow - as flows to Europe are already plunging - and remove their funding ability, potentially forcing severe hardship on Russia's key economic drivers. There appears to be 3 potential problems with this plan...
As Bloomberg reports,
Europe’s reliance on Russian natural gas shipments via Ukraine is declining after the region pumped a record volume of the fuel into underground inventories, minimizing the risk of shortages during the coming winter.
The blue line above shows average daily flows at Velke Kapusany on the Slovakian-Ukrainian border, the biggest single entry point for Russian gas into the European Union, last month fell to a record, according to data from Slovak grid operator Eustream AS going back to 2011. The red histogram shows the 28-nation bloc has pumped a record volume of gas into storage, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe, a lobby group in Brussels.
Natural gas flows from Russia to the EU haven’t been affected in the current crisis. Storage sites in Slovakia, which had to seek emergency imports after its supplies were cut in 2009, were 92 percent full on Sept. 4, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe.
* * *
So Europe is stocking-up - which makes perfect sense - just in case Russia pulls the plug... but has now taken the situation to "11" on the Spinal Tap amplifier of escalating tensions by planning sanctions on Russia's energy providers.
The plan appears clear:
stock-up now (to survive the winter)...
starve Russian firms of cashflow (thanks to stockpiles)...
cut off their funding source (sanctions)...
force Putin's economy into a tailspin...
Putin folds and it all ends happily ever after
* * *
There appears to be 3 problems with this plan...
1) What if the weather is considerably colder than normal this winter? (i.e. they need more supply)
Central based El Nino's seem to be associated with much colder European winters than eastern based El Nino's. Temperature anomalies come out on average 2-3c colder than a "normal" European winter.
With a central based El Nino forecast for winter 2014/2015 this would suggest a chance of some brutal cold moving much of central and northern Europe at times this winter.
For the United Kingdom and Ireland a central based El Nino does suggest a colder than average winter as well - Because of our proximity to the Atlantic Ocean the negative anomaly is much less extreme for Great Britain than it is for central Europe and Russia. Nevertheless, with the temperature anomaly coming out at 1c colder than average, the UK would still have a greater chance of a colder than average winter than an eastern based El Nino.
2) Russia has already committed to supporting the sanctioned firms (and we would hardly be shocked if China chipped in)
The Russian government, according to Bloomberg, is ready to provide 1.5 Trillion rubles financing to Rosneft to support production at current level, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev says in Vedomosti interview.
Details, ways of support are under review
Support wouldn’t be in one yr; needed to sustain output because Rosneft is budget’s main taxpayer
and furthermore, Gazprom appears to be quickly funding before the sanctions are actually put in place...
As Bloomberg reports, European banks may organize new borrowing for Gazprom, Interfax reports, citing people familiar it doesn’t identify.
The company's board to consider some loans Sept. 23, no details yet, news service reports
Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov declined to comment when reached by Bloomberg
3) What happens in Spring? German industrials need energy?
It appears that Putin is a patient man... why not wait till the stockpiles have dwindled, winter is over, and then press...?
* * *
It appears Europe's short-term plan to mitigate the "Winter War" may have bigger boomerag consequences than they seem to believe (and bear in mind the consequences of cold, pissed off Europeans in the past).
* * *
We point out that planned sanctions are on Gazprom Neft will be sanctioned (not the gazprom nat gas entity) as Europe appears to be focused on the crude oil side of things for now.
New European Union sanctions on Russia will expand the number of Russian companies unable to raise money in the bloc's capital markets to include three state-owned oil companies, according to documents seen by The Wall Street Journal.
The documents show the EU seeking to hit Russian oil companies, but leaving unscathed those involved in gas production and export, which are critical to many European countries' energy supplies.
...
Under a modest expansion of sanctions introduced in late July, the three oil companies - Gazpromneft, the oil-production and refining subsidiary of OAO Gazprom, oil transportation company Transneft, and oil giant Rosneft - will be forbidden from raising funds of longer than 30 days' maturity.
* * *
So jab at oil companies, and mitigate natural gas restriction blowback?

I don't think it's a conspiracy, I think it's a matter of sunk costs. I think it's a matter of institutional momentum. Look at all of the stupid shit that has gone on elsewhere in our economy that has not only been continued, but double downed on. I don't deny that fixing these problems would have enormous up front costs, but I will point out that there are enormous costs that have already been sunk into other technologies. People tend to stick with what they're invested in, even if it isn't the best option and often, even if it is flat out wrong. To say that thorium won't work because we're not doing it is pure folly. We haven't even tried to make it work on a large scale. There's a lot of shit that we won't try because it's not how things have been done. We have become a sclerotic society, too comfortable with the status quo.
Just think about all of the rules and regs surrounding food production, then understand that the nuclear industry has just as many. If I am right about thorium, what would it cost just to adhear to the one size fits all rules and regs that have sprung up around uranium reactors? That's not even getting into the R&D that would be required to make them work, but one thing is for sure, the status quo is not going to work for much longer.
As a vassal state post WWII, japan was strong-armed into buying US designed reactors. It was not a market driven decision on their part. Nuclear energy is a cartel. A few major players, all backed by government, call the shots. The current situation is similar to the US steel industry in the 50's and 60's. A few big players with huge sunk costs and major government patronage delayed investment in new technology and were eventually driven out of the market by Japan, Korea and China, all of whom adopted the new processes. GE, Westinghouse, Areva and so on will suffer the same fate in the years ahead as asian competition in safer, low cost nuclear reactors kicks in.
Cartels are a major factor in slowing economic progress. That's not a conspiracy theory, it's a proven fact.
You can make nuclear weapons with thorium, it is just very difficult. We did test one bomb that had its pit that was part PU239 and part U233. You get the U233 from Thorium - at least that's the easiest way. The yield was expected to be 33kt and it ended up being 22kt. Part of the problem was that in with the U233 was some U232 came with it, and U232 poisons the reactions that need to happen very quickly for a bomb to go off. It's not going to stop a reactor from working, but it can be bad for bombs. In order to make a bomb with U233, isotopic separation is needed, and at that point, you might as well just use Plutonium.
They bend the tube around until the ends meet, creating a torus.
Like a donut.
No ends to leak out.
I think in the car industry the electric car is the future. There are some interesting ideas being developed that could improve it considerably, like the aluminum-air battery.
There seems to be a considerable increase in the use of electric cars, like for example in Norway there are 32000 electric cars being used today.

There are some people developing a new type of Ocean energy turbine that is said to be far more effective than previous models.
http://crowdenergy.org/indiegogo/
People realize that the fossil fuel deposits left on earth are running out, and some of the remaining deposits may be quite costly to harvest in many ways.
Someone once said that oil is just old sunshine that has been trapped under a spell for millions of years.
The most powerful, and for us, eternal source of energy, is the Sun. It is probably the best source of energy we could rely on for the future.
I think that the idea of personal transportation will eventually have to go, regardless of how you power it. The concept of moving a chunk of metal that by weight exceeds the weight of the payload (passenger) by 90-95% is idiotic. A car trip in terms of energy waste is almost an equivalent of a space launch, if you think about it.
The following generations will be looking back at us in disbelief as to how we pissed away the greatest discovery of the century on things we could easily do without.
"People realize that the fossil fuel deposits left on earth are running out, and some of the remaining deposits may be quite costly to harvest in many ways."
That is also true of industrial metals, all of which take energy to produce, all of which are needed for electric transportation technology.
Here's what it takes to get at some those minerals:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jI9zQm15ZjM
It's not just oil we're running out of.
Oil represents countless useful byproducts extracted though the refinement process. It is plastic, fertilizers, pesticides, textiles, medicine, pavement etc.
The reason most energy alternatives falsely appear as viable is because they are created with the use of oil-powered infrastructure. If a solar panel was used to completely manufacture a solar panel, a wind turbine for a wind turbine and a nuclear power plant powered everything needed to make power plant, you'd see barely anything left over. All of the energy would go towards material extraction and recomposition. In the end you would still lack many essential components being generated as "freebies" under the fossil fuel paradigm.
Even with oil being used to make things such as solar panels and batteries, they are quite expensive. Now take each panel and fuel cell and double or triple the cost to reflect material synthesis. Then you'll have the real operating cost.
Rare earth metals? Don't even get me started on those!
It all boils down to animal power.
Some poor schmuck has to lift the shovel at the groundbreaking ceremony, and let me tell you sister... That isn't cheap.
"Russian invasion proof"
lol
Whenever I get down about the quality of leadership in the US, all I have to do to cheer myself up is consider the witless ferrets running the EU and Europe.
You are playing with an experienced working class man that worked his way up the ranks to be the head of the KGB. In my opinion....the US as well as it's so called allies should stop poking and testing this bear. This man is the real deal. This man cares about his country and his people. He will not be cornered or pushed around. Just take a look how he really fucks these Russian business owners up. NOTE: Putin can put you in as a business leader as well as take you out. This still is the Soviet Union.....It sadens me that we (The USA) does not have leadership like this. The end of this video is classic. "Give me my fucking pen back you lying sack of shit."
http://youtu.be/flC---s2moA
You lost me when you said "This man cares about his country and his people". Back into the Putin's drawers sock puppet.
Just because I don't want useless garbage for a leader doesn't mean I want a strong dictator. curtains is right. Putin does not care about people, except that they are part of the country which is his power base. He cares about his country because he controls it. Obama doesn't care about his country because he has no control over anything. He can only do what he is told.
Yes, US Government & Press has dumbed down US Citizens about Mafia and Organized Crime including Sexual Slavery & Human Trafficing connected to Russian People. Melissa Rossi wrote about this.
I keep thinking US May cause the end of NATO with this push for Ukraine... say within 5 years.
Maybe I am ignorant of Russian Economics, but the West and the Bankers seem to rely on shutting off credit and trade with Moscow, Russia proper & Belarus. But BRICS Development Bank is already formed and the Chinese Currency hubs are already set up seemingly with plenty of Russian and Chinese Gold and more gold coming out of China every day.
It just looks like Bankers watch too much "Highlander Movies" or they really are the new Forth Reich.
A-Semetric War is Wall Street, Weapons, Logistics, and feeding and providing energy for millions of people exposed economically.
All War is Economic Disaster to people in regions Affected.
This can easily tear apart NATO if a real shooting war escalates into NATO V Russia. And it looks like Russia has options for food, credit, trade... unless sea & air ports are critical and can be cut off by "No Fly Zones" or sea embargos. These are old questions that Russia Answered in the Cold war.
" Obama doesn't care about his country because he has no control over anything."
If that is true, then every President since they lost control has been a coward. Either that or they think they have control. Because if one man of will in the office went in thinking he had control and there were people telling him otherwise, he would expose it to the nation. Most Americans are under the impression that the President is ultimately in charge, an honorable leader would tell them otherwise, then take a bullet if need be.
Putin obviously does care about the country and the people of Russia. Rebuilding the country's economic capability, encouraging procreating, maintaining strong stances against the moral decline of the West are all part of that.
I forgot to add his anti-GMO stance. Very important. He has to do what he can to keep the Russian girls from turning into copies of the Western cows. Can't have size 20+ be a normal thing in Russia.
Nice Thorazine avatar, dude
he has proven time and again he is a nationalist and recognizes his legacy is the Russian state preserved intact
The USA game is to bribe or assassinate leaders who dont agree - USA hates nationalists - Panama, Pery, Bolivia, Venezuela plenty of examples
whatever the coming hardship he will outlast the EU and USA and his people will be with him - there has not been a serious USA leader since JFK.
Obama / Bush have no such support of their country and never will
No leader of a country can hold power if they agree to oversee the disasembly of their big country to become a smaller less powerful country.
So yes, Putin wants a strong Russian Federation.
USA is the Superpower and we haven't been knocked down yet. Unfortunately... European Empires and even the Catholic Church have used power in an abusive way to prove that they had the power and the US has followed this strategy. It is not clear if USA is adopting attitudes and governance methods from China or Communism...But it appears to be the case.
Strength has nothing to do with it if you are incapable or unwilling to use it. The best defense is clearly understood principles and the obvious will to stand behind them. It has little to do with right or wrong, only resolve, which Putin has and Obama reserves for the golf course, as nothing will get between himself and his "Tee" time.
Maybe losing you was his intention? To label an opinion you don't like as "Sock Puppet" stuff, instead of making your case as to why he was wrong, makes you look like the "sock puppet" not him. I am ready to listen to any opinion counter to mine, if they can make a case, but glib responses like yours simply take up space on the discussion board. So we also know the State Department employes many hundreds of professional posters, I am not saying you are one, I only point out that Washington DC does keep a huge"sock drawer". I know Russian- US relations pretty well, from all the way back to the worst of cold war, I have never seem any english speaking "sock drawer" doing Russia's bidding. Except in the 80's a tiny, tiny group of commuists inside the USA who took orders from Moscow. All told TWO people I know of.
Jack !!! Jack !!! Jack !!! Natalia is single...:

Sweet.
Well we lost you, you will be sorely missed, now run along.
Putin was never head of the KGB.
For 16 years Putin served as an officer in the KGB, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before he retired to enter politics in his native Saint Petersburg in 1991
Yea and he didn't have to lie about while a President was "taken out" like Daddy Bush did.
Very good. Nice to see lies countered. KGB under the USSR drew the very brightest and sharpest minds inside that large country. Because rising in ranks of KGB provided a good life by Soviet Standards. They were elites in every sense of the word. Most western people do not know, but it was KGB leadership who dismanteled the USSR, it was they who knew the USSR was not viable as an ecnomic or social model by the late 80's. It was they who had access to the real figures on ecnomics and who had real information on people's morale. They knew the USSR had to be ended and THEY were the ones who ended it. With hardly a shot fired, they arranged for every Soviet Republic to become a free independent state. Like Ukraine. This is all fact. Putin was a star among stars, he is world class as a leader. And America had Bush and now Obama, they are the "sock puppets" for the elite Wall-Street Bankers and the Military Industrial Complex, we were warned about them way back in the 1950's by America's LAST honest president. All since have been liars and whores.
It's only a nitpick, but we've had two honest Presidents since the '50s. Kennedy, and Reagan. Kennedy ended up dead, and Reagan got the message.
What about Jimmy Carter? In my opinion he was the most honest of the presidents for many decades (also the most ineffectual).
"Very good. Nice to see lies countered. KGB under the USSR drew the very brightest and sharpest minds inside that large country. Ummm....no.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissolution_of_the_Soviet_Union
"On August 19, 1991, Gorbachev's vice president Gennady Yanayev, prime minister Valentin Pavlov, defense minister Dmitry Yazov, KGB chief Vladimir Kryuchkov, and other senior officials acted to prevent the signing of the union treaty by forming the "General Committee on the State Emergency". The "Committee" put Gorbachev (on holiday in Foros, Crimea) under house arrest, reintroduced political censorship, and attempted to stop the perestroika. The coup leaders quickly issued an emergency decree suspending political activity and banning most newspapers. ... Thousands of people in Moscow came out to defend the White House (the Russian Federation's parliament and Yeltsin's office), then the symbolic seat of Russian sovereignty. The organizers tried but ultimately failed to arrest Yeltsin, who rallied mass opposition to the coup."
But you can find a decent history of Gorbachev's liberalization policies in the article, which led to a series of popular demonstrations working their way in from eastern Europe, through the Baltic states, and eventually into Russia itself as former Soviet clients (cough...Poland - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutions_of_1989), Soviet republics (Ukraine ..... 1990 350mi human chain of 350k people http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People%27s_Movement_of_Ukraine), and eventually Russian citizens themselves discovered that the "General Secretary" wasn't signing off on mass killings. And with ultimate power flowing through the party secretary, that presented a problem for the KGB.
But nice try. Repeat it often enough and say 'This is all fact!' and you'll get a nod or two for the little colonel.
He also never was a Commiunity Organizer.
or a Harvard Lawyer...
only allegedly...
And therein is the reason that Obie has an advantage over him.
no i'm not gonna put a sarc tag on it, figure it out on yer own
Because he is black? Or because he has Wall Street behind him? Or because the people behind him are the most powerful soulless bastards on the planet?
Because Obie is a community organizer. So the whole world will follow Him to the promised centrally planned land of their freedoms for you!
Quit bitchin' and eatchur school lunch.
Gotta run, my caviar and Crystal are getting warm
lol I'm seriously questioning this. But like a Pied Piper he can lead our young bright children to war in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, & glorious Ukraine!
State plans the community. Organizers work for the State.
Fixed
Pappy Bush was head of CIA though.
Barry's pretty tough too. He'd replace a few of those factory execs with lesbians and they'd all fall into line, right?
depends on their handicap
whats the tee time?
Who would you bet on if it comes to golf?
I have this sinking felling that Putin would still manage to win even that one...
dupe
I would have agreed up until Putin folded like a cheap lawn chair with the Ukraine "ceasefire". He did all he could - short of actually handing over NovoRussia to Ukraine - to stop sanctions against him, and look what good it did him.
Gruntled:
You missed the point - Putin did what he should do to continue his role as the only major player interested in an honest ceasefire. He gave the junta a chance, and they blew it.
It only took less than 24-hours for the New Russian army to get back to eating up the Ukrainian army. While there was some movement of Ukrainian troops, there was not enough time given them to implement their grander movement of armor and troops.
So again, it's Putin the peacemaker - 1, versus Porky the Pig - 0.

There are some fights that you just dont fight...
“If your opponent is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant.”
? Sun Tzu, The Art of War
So, you can watch one move in the chess match and know the strategy? I am humbled in the presence of such genius.
Yep, this is just EU/USSA arrogance in thinking how smart they are. They are thinking 1 maybe 2 moves ahead on the checkerboard, and are convinced that they are setting up Putin to triple jump him and then crow "King Me". Unfortunately, Putin is playing chess, and he already anticipated these feeble moves months ago when the whole Crimea gambit was launched. The takedown of the EU next year is going to be epic.
Not directly related but here's what I read today in a daily communique on the situation in Ukraine:
As a result of the fierce cease-fire in the region of Mariupol a block-post came under fire, a tank next to it was destroyed (driver wounded), also two soldiers from the "Azov" battalion suffered injuries (minimum 2 wounded) - the block-post itself was demolished.
So far about the cease-fire. It's there but sometimes it's fierce.
P.S. I intended to post the original Russian text also but it seems Cyrillic alphabet is not supported.
"This man is the real deal."
Listen, I was just saying that last week. I'm trying to figure out an immigration path to "MOTHER RUSSIA" but then I'm conflicted because ISIL mention an attack on Russia is eminent.
Let me be clear. I'd be like: "WHAT THE FUCK"? if I got to Russia and ISIL attacked or tried to fuck with Mr. Putin. Conflicted man, just conflicted.
But Putin makes me proud to be a man again.
Can men and women and young boys OWN guns in the Russian Federation???
Could be that Gun-wise Russia has this in common with USA.
How the hell did you find that?

If those companies have any sense the price of natural gas should at least triple in the spring.
Top notch!
It's just this kind of Russian savoir faire that shows the Russians know what they're doing. When your sense of humor is intact, you're going to win. America's fizzled out a long time ago... 9-11-01.
If anybody says they know how this is going to turn out, they're lying. Unless it's Vladimir Putin telling you.
It will turn out bad....... Are you calling me a liar Mr.?
It'll be fine, Doc. You'll see. As long as it doesn't affect the price of my stawks.
Not to worry, stawks are bulletproof.
Mushroom clouds, on the other hand...

4) what happens if the stock piles in europe are sabotaged??
No sabotage needed. It's not enough gas, since they still gobble from the pipe while drawing down stock in winter. Stockpiles will be gone by mid winter, never mind spring.
Also, don't forget that the European stockpiles will be piping gas to their true blue, reliable, and trustworthy allies in Kiev this winter.
But hey, don't worry, there is plenty, and more can be printed.
And Obama said that he will make up for any shortfall with US Frac gas. Yeah right!
You can send pretty much anything over Internet these days anyway.
Right?
GasPal tm.
Thinking about Full Battle Tanks and fuel for them in any war...
Makes me think people can't give up gas or diesel for any full war with Russia... leave fewer options left.
Desired Outcome is capitulation by Russia due to Trade, Credit, Financial Embargoes and sanctions.
But Russia will not want to cripple its' power, so Putin would look at other kinetic weapons... while we have to wonder if his people will be bribed to seek a Putin Ouster, throw him out. Actually let me correct that. I have it backwards. Putin may be okay with using his main battle tanks against NATO, but NATO will want to use Kinetic Weapons other than traditional European Tank Battle.
Full War... no one wants that. And no one wants Nuclear War, but sometimes shit happens.
The German Leopard 2 tank uses kinetic weapons.
Tungsten carbide penetrators.
They punch holes clean enough to avoid birth defects, but they lack the pyrophoric qualities of depleted uranium.
Russians probably have lots of the depleted uranium.
The EU piping gas to Kiev? LOL. Kiev is just another EU bitch. They only exist to take on debt from EU bankers. You can bet Kiev will be way down on the priority list for EU gas. The best Kiev can hope for is a lot of coal in their stockings come Christmas. Otherwise they better blow the concrete cap off Chernoybl and steal some hot fuel rods to keep warm this winter.
Not much cahance of that, but up to 50% can't be used due to pressure related issues.
SHHHH
Don't give ISIS any ideas.
Or 0bama.
NSA's infinite spying and blackmail?
All the evidence shows that the people of Europe do not want war:
The crisis facing Poroshenko refutes the NATO powers’ cynical propaganda that the February putsch in Kiev was a democratic revolution. What it produced was a far-right regime, resting directly on fascistic elements and serving the designs of the major imperialist powers to impose a deeply unpopular agenda of an escalating military confrontation with Russia.
A recent poll found that 57 percent of the Ukrainian people oppose the so-called “antiterror operation” Kiev launched in east Ukraine, while only 34 percent support it.
The Journal du dimanche reported yesterday that the German Marshall Fund think-tank is preparing to release a poll showing that 81 percent of Frenchmen and 85 percent of Germans oppose arming the Ukrainian regime. The same poll found that in every European country except Poland, a majority of the population opposes the entry of Ukraine into either NATO or the European Union.

The Ukrainian Army's next stop may be Kiev. They are made because they have been made out to be fools, they have been murdered and F'ed'ed over by the Oligarchs in Kiev. Maybe these morons are waking up.
They can't be any dumber than the Obammy loving Pentagon and intel people. Those other retards.

Since when do European leaders listen to their poeple - except 3 days before there are elections?
Are you telling me that European leaders are just like RINOs and red-state Democraps in the US?
Actually quite true. The blue state Democrats don't listen at all.
Fucking Poles: The Useful Knaves & Serfs of the Elite/TPTB for the last 1000 years.
They should stick to being the Plumbers of Europe. (Assuming you knew that they've exported so many to the EU, that they're very unpopular with native plumbers in each EU country).
Just in via DNA evidence: Jack the Ripper was a Polish Jew immigrant.
That explains that. Racist anti-semite immigrant haters drove him to it.
Shit like this makes for good trading opportunities in energy. Like trading oil.
what happens if russian will sell all usa pappers?
I'd time it just right. For example, per my post (5193497) above...
Come November or Sanctions, do two things: (1) All oil and gas sales in Rubles, Yuan or Gold, and (2) Dump US Debt/USTs. The combined effect will not be possible to ignore in the 'Markets' or the MSM.
With respect to planting and our bees etc. yes, we are preparing for a colder winter. old news.
Polar Vortex hasn't moved, still there.
Brrrr..
It's almost as if te western powers are using Orwell's 1984 as a resource guide and forcing Russia into a stronger relationship with China. We were always at war with eastAsia.
DC is also at war with US citizens. Illegal residents, however, are okay, or they wouldn't be winning all those 'all expenses paid' travel plans.
Wouldn't it be a real kick in the teeth if the Chinese were behind this, to force Russia into their arms?
Have you noticed that the US reacts to Russia exercising its territorial sovereignty, but not to China doing the same? I don't like those coincidences.
China will come out on top, from all of this embargo. The gas deal was favoured for China and now Russia is part of UnionPay. All China has to do is keep out of the war economic war and make the deals to support Russia (on there terms).
Notwithstanding all of the above, if the warfare gets physical then China have to step in to support Russia, otherwise they will be next!
Agreed. Suspect it will get physical when it gets phyzical, i.e. when Russia wants phyz, not paper gold from the EU. The LME would collapse and TSHTF.
Keep your eye on the "Canary in the Coalmine": The SPREAD for Buy/Sell for Gold Bullion. It's already up ~10% (from 2%), and will be the leading indicator for Phyz running low, running out -- first at Retail, then at Wholesale.
Since they have never had an original idea that ever worked, sounds as good as anything else one could imagine.
Still can't figure out why so many people are slobbing on Putin's knob here....the dude is the dictator that Obama wishes he could be. He's just better at it. But uh, rah rah rah Russia?
Did you know China is still a Communist nation?
Still can't figure out why confused posters like the above have a need to come on here and express their homoerotic love fantasies for someone who is not interested.

Maybe because no one in America has any guts to stand up to the people destroying America in DC, MIC intel. America is a land of TV watching and Hollywood watching cowards. You sound like a coward.
Putin for his faults stands up for Russia and Russians - so why don't you just F off. Putin is not a coward like Americans or Europeans. The European leaders are as evil as the American leaders.
It's not about Putin. It's the profound contempt I and many feel for the ZOG operating in DC, implacably making every destructive move possible for American citizens. And their current puppet and designated shitmagnet, aka The One, Messiah and Chalky.
Just like with investments, the only thing worse then being too late is too early. Being the next Ruby Ridge or Waco may sound satisfying, blaze of glory and all that macho shit. However, nobody with a brain goes into a fight they can't win. Patience is a virtue.
It's not so much that Putin is so good, but at least he never poses for pictures with one leg in the air while holding his putter.
Chuck Norris even cowered in fear when Vlad posed topless, holding the world's biggest lion up in the air, one handed, by it's putter.
A: (1) It's what Freddie said above in 5193438, plus (2) what I said last night (5192674) in response to a similar comment from sethstorm.
Excerpt: The point is... somewhere along the line (while we were working, playing, or sleeping) the MFers hijacked/stole our Government -- and WE WANT IT BACK!
I'll say it. I like Putin. He is a great leader. Most of the Russian people love him because he actually gives a damn about them. He will probably go down in Russian history as THE best leader of that country, ever. Compared to the trash running this country, I would take Putin anyday.

dumbest chart ever posted here on the hedge, Yes they are about 4 days of storage ahead of last year, but they are bringing in hald of last years supply and they still ran basically dry in April. looks like they have about a 50 day supply, Putin should time it that it runs out in January, so he has two months left.....
I think Merkel mis-understood it when Barry said, he has gas....
Putin is highly likely to keep the gas pumping. First he will want the money, its good in a way they have pumped it earlier as it helps his cashflow, but probably more importantly, Russia does not break contracts for gas, never did during the cold was and won't now.
Putin is teaching the rest of the world that, regardless of US pressure, a Russian government's word is its bond.
Very good point. The whole premise for this article was about changing and prepping for oil cutoffs. Basically minimal changes since last year.
Winter will come
It will be cold
And now here's Stacy with traffic.
Hi everybody! Stacy here (wrapping hiar around finger).... Well, kinda looks like its gonna be whatever. Fur sure. Like uh, you know Uh Yeah

Hey Knukles, wanna know why Stacy takes two Birth control pills ???
To be fer sure, fer sure !!!
/oldie, but a goodie...
LOL
Hitler didn't have oil to power his machines into Russia (he used liquified coal), and Merkle doesn't have the NG to outlast a cold winter.
Actually that's bullshit. Hitler had all the oil he could use. It was supplied by Rockefeller Standard Oil out of South America and trans-shipped via Spain. Payments were processed through the BIS in Switzerland. Why do you think Spain and Switzerland were allowed to remain neutral? Hitler's oil supply did not slow down until the US 5th Air Force got busy destroying the German's rail infrastructure so that they could not ship the oil from Spain anymore.
90% of the fuel used by the Wehrmacht during the start of operation Barbarossa (22 june) till the beginning of December 1941 came from the USA.
Looks like some more white on white crime is brewing. WW1 and WW2 wasn’t enough.
Is Russia still a so-called Caucasian country?
Yes.
It seems that fair-haired people are not being assimilated and diluted fast enough. /s
Q: Under 'Merica's PC sensitivity... can a blond person claim Racial Discrimination if they didn't get the job -- especially in some industries/companies? After all, they are a "Racial Minority", objectively speaking. Just asking.
Like uh whatever
Lemme Google it....
USA isn't actually majority caucasian any more with stalled-out white birth rate and open borders. The whites that remain are filled with self-hate and loathing, and actively deprecate their own abilities and opportunities in the interest of "fairness." So in regard to attacking caucasians in Russia, do not expect any general opposition in USA on those grounds.
Same old shit, different century. 'The war to end all wars' yea sure, all humans can do is plan and carry out the next war.
The U.S. could always use it's Death Star to keep Europe warm this winter.
I say Hydrogen bombs detonated high enough to warm but not kill.
93,000,000 miles high seems to work.
I almost forgot about the Death Star. Good catch,.
Wouldn't you think the people in Western Europe that understand this game would be calling for the head(s) of the Brussels contingent at this point like Scotland's announcement and just "call it a day"???!!! Don't think obtaining gas reserves through stealth is there biggest concern at this point!
Nah!... But that would make too much sense!...
If you're going to go full retard you have to go all the way!!!
Looking forward to the rallies this Thursday in Washington D.C. and Manhattan that will bring hundreds of thousands to each city in commemoration going on 13 years that has made this all possible!
Double, "Double" /sarc
Let me see if I get the gist of what yer saying...don't bring a half retard to a full retard fight?
$10 says Putin's gold supply outlasts the toilet paper supply being printed up by Dragme and Bernanke.

Europe will crater like the good pupets they are. Putin will roll these moronic weak lefties.
Brilliant plan by the West because such strategizing always goes as expected...

check the patent office weather weapons exist.
putin should activate the russian haarp freeze paris, poland, tel aviv, the city of london for starters.
The world is in crisis and if history is correct the little people always suffer. Be prepared.

I guess it's fortunate that most Americans nowadays couldn't be described as 'little'.
Europe has pumped a record volume of natural gas into underground inventories in an effort to 'outlast' Russia and mitigate any Napoleonic "Winter War" scenario.
How big is their gas tank? - how long can Europe last at normal capacity burning only stockpiled inventory?
Just a few months. Problems would most probably arise just a few weeks after the gas flow stopped.
couple of weeks if my memories still ok
Yikes. Not much of a strategy...
It's not too hard to imagine a president Romney engineering the Great European Gaslift if not a pipeline under the Atlantic to kickstart the era of American petroleum exporting...
Rationing!
Is that the reason for the Monday morning gold smackdown :-(
That, and the fact it's Monday morning.
The US wants Russia's Natural Gas Bidness. They are building 70+ NEW LNG super tankers. Half come on line this year, the rest in 2015.
Watch congress magically approve LNG exports to europe or Obama will use his pen.
show me - all BS
1. References?
2. Don't those things put on a really good Shock & Awe show when they light up? "Accidents do happen", right? ;-)
LNG is 3x to 5x the cost of pipelined for short 500 mile pipelines. Pipeline does not have the compression/decompression/ship fuel transportation costs.
Not sure how high price is competitive or sustainable.
Need to see the economic comparison.
Wouldn't the Russians simply blow up some of those EU stockpiles if needed? It wouldn't take much... with all those smokers around.
Do european politicians and executives have bodyguards and polonium protection?
So, the plan is to expect european nanny continent to out survive russians?
:-))))))))))))))
The EU Ploticians will just have to be more careful, so they don't confuse their cocktails with cock and tails -- since "Anything goes" these days.
Looks like the West is about to raise the bet on a losing hand again. We'll have to wait to see if President Putin calls or raises.
The one lesson the Oligarchs of the west never seemed to learn is "Know when to hold and know when to fold"
