America's Demographic Crash In One Chart
While the Japanification of markets has been a much-discussed topic in recent years, the two nations share another disturbing trend. In 2012, the land of the rising sun saw sales of adult diapers exceed those of baby diapers... and as the following chart from The Wall Street Journal shows, that trend is rapidly occurring in the land of the free...

“Procter & Gamble Co. is getting back into a business it exited more than a decade ago—making products for adults suffering from incontinence—as it takes aim at the growing ranks of aging Americans.
Births peaked in the U.S. at 4.32 million in 2007 and declined for five years before leveling off recently. Some 3.96 million babies were born in the U.S. last year, according to preliminary data from the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention.
The number was up slightly from 2012, but the country’s fertility rate dropped to a record low of 62.9 births per 1,000 women of childbearing age.
Meanwhile, over 3 million Americans are now turning 65 each year, according to the Pew Research Center.”

But, of course, as population increases, the natural resources per person decreases, which is why we now have children trying to escape gruesome population/resource ratios in Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. And people fighting over water in the Near East. They are all refugees of their local business oligarchs who fund their local churches to tell their parents to have lots of children and not worry whether there were sufficient resources per child available to give those children a chance at a good life. In addition, as population increases, natural resources are actually wiped out. Rain forests are burned, the Gulf of Mexico is poisoned by BP, the northern Pacific is poisoned by Fukushima. The planet's coral reefs die, one by one. The buffalo are driven to extinction, and all large animals in Africa face threat of extinction. Panda bears in China. And if the oceans warm up enough, we may lose the great fisheries at the poles, where so much sea life starts for the simple physics fact that cold water holds more oxygen than warm water. As we warm the oceans, we decrease those great fisheries. It goes on and on, and Middle Class families grocery bills all over the world get higher and higher. But, for perhaps a couple more generations, the oligarchs will be able to helicopter away with their golden parachutes to Jackson Hole, the Alps, or the Caymans, and tell themselves that they made their immediate families better off. Until there are no more coral reefs in the Caymans and the snow melts in the Rockies and the Alps. But during that next couple of generations, more and more children of the 99% will be driven down out of the Middle Class by the global steady decrease in resources/person due to "population inflation". The same way that the German people were driven down out of their Middle Class by the monetary inflation the German oligarchs created in 1923.
