Needless to say but when you sign that contract you're in it for four years. Mother fucker went through the Battle of Fallujah as a light machine gunner and a couple tours in Afghanistan. To this day he'll say signing up was the worst decisions he's ever made.
People make mistakes, especially when one is young without much life experience with the war propaganda constantly being shoved down one's throat. So yes it is volunteer, but it also is a decision heavily influenced by exterior forces.
