Jack Ma: If You're Poor At 35, You Deserve It
Submitted by Zach Ho via VulcanPost.com,
You are poor because you have no ambition.
Jack Ma: Before I founded Alibaba, I invited 24 friends to my house to discuss the business opportunity. After discussing for a full two hours, they were still confused — I have to say that I may not have put myself across in a clear manner manner then. The verdict: 23 out of the 24 people in the room told me to drop the idea, for a multitude of reasons, such as: ‘you do not know anything about the internet, and more prominently, you do not have the start-up capital for this’ etc etc.
There was only one friend (who was working in a bank then) who told me, “If you want to do it, just try it. If things don’t work out the way you expected it to, you can always revert back to what you were doing before.” I pondered upon this for one night, and by the next morning, I decided I would do it anyway, even if all of the 24 people opposed the idea.
When I first started Alibaba, I was immediately met with strong opposition from family and friends. Looking back, I realised that the biggest driving force for me then was not my confidence in the Internet and the potential it held, but more of this: “No matter what one does, regardless of failure or success, the experience is a form of success in itself.” You have got to keep trying, and if it doesn’t work, you always can revert back to what you were doing before.
As with this quote by T.E. Lawrence – “All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream in the dark recesses of the night awake in the day to find all was vanity. But the dreamers of day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, and make it possible.”
Jack Ma: People lose out in life because of these 4 reasons:
- Being myopic to opportunity
- Looking down on opportunities
- Lacking understanding
- Failing to act quickly enough
You are poor, because you have no ambition.
Ambition is living a life of great ideals; a magnificent goal in life that must be realised.
In this world, there are things that are deemed unfathomable, but there is nothing in this world that cannot be done. The depth of one’s ambition determines the potential of one’ future.
By way of example:
The Story of Juliet Wu Shihong – one of China’s first-generation professional managers, who gained success by working her way up the ranks from a cleaner, a nurse, a marketing executive, through self-education and learning on the job.
She had been the general manager for the world’s most famous multinational IT groups’ Chinese branches (Microsoft 1985-1998; IBM 1998-1999). She is also China’s first successful international corporate executive to join the executive team of a domestic private firm. Wu was seen as a symbol of the new generation of business executives that China has produced in its economic reform and opening-up.
When Wu started off in a big company working from the lowest ranks, her daily job was to pour tea and sweep floors. Once, because she forgot her staff pass, the company’s guard stopped her at the door and denied her entry. She explained to the guard that she was indeed one of the company’s employees, and that she had merely left the building for a short while to purchase office supplies.
Despite her pleas, the guard still did not allow to enter. As she stood at the gate, she watched as those of similar age to her, but smartly dressed in business attire walking through without having to show their passes.
She asked the guard, “Why are these people allowed through without producing a pass?” The guard dismissed her coldly nonetheless.
That was the turning point for Wu – she felt great shame, her self-esteem trampled on.
She looked at herself, dressed in shabby clothes and pushing a dirty push cart. Looking back at those dressed in smart attire, her heart felt a deep ache from the sudden realization of the sorrow and grief from being discriminated. From that moment, she vowed never to allow herself to be shamed like this again, and to become world-famous.
Since then, she used every opportunity to enrich herself. Every day, she was the first to arrive at work, and the last one to leave. She made every second count, spending her time learning the ropes. Her efforts soon paid off; she was made a sales representative, and quickly progressed to being the regional general manager of this multinational company in China. Wu did not possess strong academic qualifications, and was revered as the ‘Queen of Part-timers’. Subsequently, she assumed the position of GM of IBM China. This is the Wu Shihong, the heroine in China’s business circle.
If not for the incident, Wu Shihong would not have had the ambition to become rich, and her life would have taken a very different path then.
Lessons...
- You are poor because you do not have the desire to become successful.
- You are poor because you lack foresight.
- You are poor because you cannot overcome your cowardice.
- You are poor because you lack the courage and determination.
- With ambition you can overcome all inferiority and maximise your potential!
- With ambition you can persevere, continuously learn new things and strive for perfection.
- With ambition you can defy all odds, and create miracles when others daren’t.
No matter how poor your family is, do not doubt your own abilities and lose sight of your ambition.
- When your family deems you worthless, no one will pity you.
- When your parents do not have money to pay the medical bills, no one will pity you.
- When you are beaten by your competitors, no one will pity you.
- When your loved ones abandon you, no one will pity you.
- When you have not accomplished anything by the time you are 35, no one will pity you.
Go big, or go home. Otherwise, you’re wasting your youth.

Somehow, this sounds very familiar.
Didn't I read this years ago when I was at the beach with an old girlfriend (her book, not mine)?
Yeah. . . .I think it was one of those Sidney Sheldon books.
First, not everyone's goal in life is to be rich by 35 like Jack Ma.
Second, not everyone's definition of 'success' is material in nature.
Third, while I certainly don't begrudge Mr. Ma's success, I think many "successful" people forget how much help they received from benefactors and mentors along the way. i.e, It seems many "successful" people want to attribute ALL of their success to their own ingenuity, perserverance, hard work, ambition and willingness to take risks.
I make a decent living in a job for which there's a pretty good demand (at least until everything goes down the crapper). Sure, I work hard, am responsible, and I took some risks when people told me not to go down the path I did. However, in addition to all of that, I'm in the position I'm in because I have had some great bosses & mentors who helped me out; one specifically who gave me a great referral that initially put me into my current career and earning bracket.
In spite of that, I think his message is, for the most part, pretty spot on. No one is going to pity you (except maybe your blood).
Let me share something with you guys. I thought the exact same thing, when I was 20 yrs old, working on Wall Street. All I wanted was a Lamborghini and I knew, in my mind, anyone can do it.
However, over time, I saw my peers making sacks of money, but still living paycheck to paycheck. I'm talking 20, 30, 50k a month.
I work in a real industry now (not finance), am happier, make more per hour, and am building productive things. I would never buy a lambo because I only spend 10 to 15% of what I make and don't buy any single thing I couldn't work for in one paycheck.
What Ma says is true... i see all these youths wasting away, thinking they're all that making 80k a year, as some stupid account execs or nurses or whatever low-skilled job du jour. All my stockbroker friends still on Wall St are now broke still working 14 hrs a day.
What Ma says is true for 98% of people out there, whether in North America or North Africa. What holds back the 2% for whom this does not work is a lack of imagination. Lack of innovation.... creativity.
Some people are so poor.... that all they have is money.
.... or debt
.... or piles of shit and trash like my girlfriends EBT/WIC hoarder sister
The 'hoarder sister' crack ..........cracked me up! Best comment of the day! Well done!
Yo mama's so po, she can't afford the o and the r.
As you kind of pointed out, working hard and being enthusiastic about anything you do, will get you far. At least in my life, it has. I have collected one week of unemployment my whole working career at the age of 51 now. But, do you really need all the material things in life? Is it really worth all the gut wrenching hours spent making a buck? Sitting first class automatically everywhere you fly, because you are never home?
My experience is that, yes the material things are good, but are fading as time goes on. They are just not as important as a relationship with another human being or God is. Taking a walk everyday with my Rot in the many reservoir areas in Maryland is priceless. Praying to God almighty that he will make me aware of how I am being a selfish jerk today, and how I cannot be like this, is really the focus as age advances.
Carmina Burana dude!

Looks like a textbook on "how to become a perfect sociopath in ten easy lessons" or "psychopathy explained to dummies".
Well, the Chinese haven't been very hot on philosophy since that moralistic old fart Confucius, have they? And that was a very long time ago. Next great "thinker" they had was Mao.
Go figure.
And there are other ambitions in life than running after pennies, moron. Ask yourself how many guys are historical icons merely because they were rich, and how many are legends because they were true heroes, scientists, thinkers, statesmen, artists, etc. Any history book will give you the answer as to what a true human icon is, you overbloated sack of shit.
There is some truth here. You can still end up poor with those qualities. But not trying is how to suck forever.
Synopsis: "You're all abject failures!"
Say it aint so Ma!
35, Jack?
Orwell said:
"At 50, everyone has the face he deserves."
Yeah, Bach, Rembrandt, DaVinci, Feynman, Copernicus, Kepler, Euler, Gauss, Curie, Faraday, Tesla, etc etc etc and every other person consumed with the passion for knowledge and beauty without the drive for wealth is a loser.
i'm guessing the down votes are from folks who don't get sarcasm...
Jack Ma deserves a front snap kick to the balls
Ah meritocracy, the joys you bring. So it's my own fault if I'm on minimum wage due to my cognitive capacity.
So by that thought, if all 7 billion of us were as clever as you Jack, then we'd all be wealthy and successful.
Don’t worry, fellas/dames. Soon we’ll be able to trade one gold coin for a four-story building in the city of our choices.
Condos for a silver eagle…..
Cifo (posted earlier today) beat me to the punch....(I was busy trading and didn't get to ZH until late).
The few ego maniacs who actually manage to make money, always attribute their success to internal personal traits, and insist anyone else COULD follow along if only they behave like the ego-maniac. The fact that 100,000 ego-maniacs had exactly the same traits and failed...gets not notice. The fact that pure random luck meant one would succeed no matter what.....also gets overlooked.
Suvivorship bias in its most obnoxious form.

So, if someone looks like a weird little dickhead, and talks like a weird little dickhead..................
...he's bound to have 24 friends?
Always a good idea to tie your self and general worth to success in business.
I ain't sure if money brings u happiness ........but I know poverty sure don't!
These people are in the first flush of capitalistic accumulation.
They have no understanding of society and how it works.
Generally only when at their death bed do they come to realize how pointless their life was.
Asia is just full of Ebenezer Balfour type people I imagine.
Willing dupes of the banking system.

Proof that top CEOs are all psychopaths.
Typical Oriental.
Jack Ma needs to grow a beard like the Duck Hunters. Everyone loved the duck hunter show….. people have a thing for swimming in the back of a pick-up truck.
Sorry, but this guy sounds like a real asshole. Well for his sake, I hope he's not and finds balance.
Being at the top of your field and making a lot of money are not the same thing.
He's not a subscriber to, "The Meek shall inherit the Earth" philosophy, I guess.
Who is Harry Blabber?
Or am I missing something in Ma's mumbling?
Great, now the Chinese are even ripping off Tony Robbins.
There are so many counterexamples to this drivel that it would take a flow chart to list them all, but here is at least one more that sprang readily to my mind. What about the people who work hard, achieve success, and don't crow about it?
If someone starts bragging as soon as they meet with good fortune, this tells you that all they were interested in from the beginning was their own ego. Vanity is not a necessary component of success nor is it a legitimate fruit thereof. Success comes and goes in this life; there are no guarantees. Yes, it probably improves the odds a bit to have vision and to work hard, but that's a very small signal in a lot of noise. Ultimately God is the sovereign ruler of all creation, and He disposes property as He sees fit. If He does not prosper the work of your hands then the labor is in vain.
Also, success ruins proportionally more people than poverty does. Pain is easier to bear than luxury, and is more instructive. Those without the talent to manage great fortune will quickly lose it, and humility is the key to all. This guy has none.
Jack Ma will be poor soon too!
I'm thinkin' Jackie Boy don't spend his time worryin' about Global Warming & ISIS & Gay Rights & Minimum Wages & Gender Equality & Social Welfare & Social Equaility & how rich the 1%'ers are!
Nothin' hurts worst than the truth 4 sure! Rock on' big man!
Ma also doesn't seem to worry about central bank policy, the fractional reserve system, or gold backed currency. He at least is playing the hand that was dealt.
Right on! And when he was born he got a real sour hand to play!
He IS the central bank policy. At least he thinks he is.
I think Janet was trying to tell us the same thing.
By the way, where can I find janet's celeb pics online?
Jack Ma's sister in law makes $35 a minute online. And so can you! Just don't be weak loser, you worm!
I'm curious then, Jack...do you believe everyone, if only they have these four qualities, can still simultaneously "get rich"?
More than likely! Sadly NONE of it is taught in our towering institutions of self serving socialist affirmative action liberal education now a day!
Scarcity is a socialist construct!
Weird looking reptile lizard boy who thinks he has 24 friends, well possibly, if in fact he is a reptile.
Sounds even more unbearable than MZ; no mean achievement.
Not a penny of this guy's money is going into my bank account, so why should I care one whit about his life, let alone what he has to say? Who gives a shit?
More than likely your pension fund owns a part of his company!
Oh, wow, I guess I'd better start sucking his cock, then!
Get in line! You'll be waitin' for a while!
You would know...
The pope is material poor so does that mean he does not have ambition.
Just socialist!
Capitalize the title, Pope.
Well..there is some truth to alot of what he says. But its also mostly common sense. People are just lazy today..and want to blame the system when they fail at something.
As far as that woman in article who 'worked her way up 'from janitor/ nurse..etc..
I dont know how much id like a nurse that was 'self educaded and learned on the job' ... but hey..this is china..who even knew they had nurses and doctors n such.
;)
You can't downvote this as a bunch of crap while simultaneously decrying the "Free Shit Army." Make up your fucking minds, people. You have hardcore cognitive dissonance.
Jackie fires Amerika it's own message at them & almost everybody including the chosen bewildered 'Kenyan' goes hun??? What he said???
"Making up our minds" is how we, the middle class, got fucked into this mess by both sides.
Fuck the poor AND fuck the rich, and your little dog too.
The old triple play!
Ha ha. That Jack Ma.
This guy can't be serious. From a results perspective he implies that out of a country of 3.5 billion people only a microscopically small proportion of them possess common human ambition and ability. If he's so smart why would he go around pissing off so many people in so little time?
I remember a certain bankruptcy liquidater of steel mills had a simular cavileer attitude. In fact, he screwed pensioners of one company out of $140,000,000 of which he and his cronies got about 80% of for themselves. "It's just business." he explained on 60 Minutes. Unfortunately he didn't have much time to enjoy it. He died two years later of cancer at age 57.
"I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all." King Solomon.
I was gonna post that passage, you beat me to it. We should have ambition and drive and not be lazy, but at the end of the day a time and a chance happens to us all. Hard work alone is not always enough.
RE: "only a microscopically small proportion of them possess common human ambition and ability": Let me fix that for you: "only a FRACTON OF A microscopically small proportion of them possess common human ambition and ability". There :)
Isn't Jack Ma the guy who invented the Internet, the World Wide Web and cheddar cheese?
Jack Ma is Al Gore? Or Al Gore is Jack Ma? And where the hell did cheddar cheese come from anyway? And don't give me that 'from a cow' shit either.
But the news tells me that everything is someone else's fault. This doesn't make any sense.
Yes, YES! Give the world a reason to cheer for your misfortune. May the algorithms of a thousand frontrunners decimate your company.
Everyone should be a billionaire by now. Next up 7 billion trillionaires.
By the way what is 7B x 7T = ???????
My calculator says 4.9e+22.
Maybe 49,000,000,000,000,000,000,000?
Just a guess.
Not that it matters but Mr. Ma was probaably poor at 35?
does anyone have any idea why yhoo total mkt cap is lower than the value of its baba stake? seriously, what am i missing?
i can see the run up over the past 15 months as a play on baba's ipo price, now we know and its much higher than previously thought. yhoo has a businss has value, 1.2B in profits ??
Must be the superstar runnin' it!
Obviously, it's a rigged market, dood!
I remember Donald Trump talking about his success was all self driven and trying to pass himself off as a average guy ....then to discover his father gave him, only, $750,000 to start out.
Fuck you Ma!
Not to quibble, but I think it was a bit more than that.
That Fred Smith story (FEDEX founder) was really great, with him claiming he started Fedex with only a $100,000 inerheritance, and then to find out years later --- plus $9 million from his family.
The guy is so full of shit because it just shows how ignorant and shallow he is. He doesn't understand in the end he will die and he can't just take all his money with him in the end. What matters is not how much money he had had one hundred years from now because he would be long forgotten. How about Lao Tzu? How about Chuang Tzu? How about Confucius? They were all poor and lived in poverty some two thousand years ago.
"Poor" is not being able to accomplish that which you want to do when you want to.
I have been very fortunate in life, no complaints and very grateful for the many friends and enemies who helped guide my way and kicked my ass whenever I was lazy and/or stupid.
One of my “mentors” I have never met but am eternally grateful to is Napoleon Hill. Consider reading his book “Think and Grow Rich” (in the public domain, the link has various electronic formats).
https://archive.org/details/Think_and_Grow_Rich
alibaba is 2 things, a website ........which can be duplicated-like a photocopy, and a police state monitring tool with police state backing.
Ma is a beard for police state monitoring, a cheerleader like AlGore and Elon Mosk and Leonardo DeCaprio, he kinda reminds me of Forrest Gump he's thinks he's operating on wishful thinking and dreams, not fascist police state monitoring.
How much of Google & Yahoo & AMZN is funded by the NSA?
For a guy that made a website, he can hardly claim to have done anything ambitious.
"You are poor because you do not have the desire to become successful."
Now he's just quoting from, "The Secret".
"You are poor because you lack foresight."
So profound.
"You are poor because you cannot overcome your cowardice."
Look out, we got ourselves a modern day, Confucius.
"You are poor because you lack the courage and determination."
MOAR secret. Thanks ugliest man in China. Let's hope your billions can find a cure for AIDS because you aren't looking so well.
Some of what he says is true. Most people don't want to take a chance for fear of losing what little they have, or aren't able to see the bigger picture. And some are just happy with their life as it is. Of course this could have all been said without sounding like a condescending little prick.
Not really! I hear lots of twisted guilt ridden socialist drivel eminating from the self serving liberal universities, marxist media & White House ....and they sure sound like condescending little pricks to me!
If that's true, then Jack Ma IS a condescending little prick. So he would naturally sound like one.
What is wrong-headed about these four basic tenents? They could have been written a bit more plain, such as number 2; taking chances and working like a dog to make it work. Being quite honest to myself, I can see how it applies, if only relatively.
Jack Ma: People lose out in life because of these 4 reasons:
I think his comment demonstrates a ginormous nievity on his understanding of what used to be the United States of America. It USED to be a thriving business hub, the boomers hated that so their voting majority killed it off.
LOL
Good thing us boomers are around, otherwise who would you blame? hmmmmmmmm
A few thousand coal miners would like a word with Ma.
Difference is that China is open to possibilities where in the US, the red tape enthusiasts blocked everyone out. Ask the lobbyists for the tech sector.
Ma tha fucka
Easy there tiger.
Time to review the universal truth about pride going before the fall.
Lots of evidence that BABA sells crappy shit that is not as advertised. May not be the long term business model that today's stock price suggests.
I agree with Ma's core point, which is to take some swings at the pitches while still young. If you happen to homer early, you'll be granted more at bats. And with each swing and miss, you learn something.
Just graduate from college and not sure what you want to do? Take a year or two, work your way around the world. Make good money teaching English in Japan. Meet ex-pats from all over the world, most of whom are pretty interesting, for better or worse. Hit SE Asia, Europe, etc. You'll learn far more and come out much better prepared and focused than if'd you just taken some crap entry-level job. Your perspective will be broadened, and that is important.
Its the journey that matters, not the arrival at some anticipated destination.
Wow! Jack Ma delivers a left hook to Obama, Democrats in the US, and other socialists and communists around the world! Astounding!
What am I supposed to feel bad for being born into the wrong family?
I don't use this billionaire/millionaire or any other as a guide on how to live my life and never will.
You don't have to. But people should take to heart his message. 'Get with it. Do things for yourself. Don't tire in your effort. waiting for someone else, especially Uncle Sugar, to do something for you will only ruin your life - commandingly proven by so many with ruined lives.'
This country must be willing to point fingers at those that are lazy and unwilling to participate.
Do you actually think that this guy is the first person to espouse this message???
This is how the 1% view the 99%
He was thinkin' this way looooonnnnnggg before he became a 1%'er! His message is for more to join the 1%!
My parents started me out in life as one of the 99%. That was their stupid choice.
My very first thought was that I hated it.
My second thought was that there must be a better way to live and I would do whatever was necessary to EARN it.
And I did EARN it, so now I am proudy one of the 3% who can justifiably preach to the 99% who surround us, who are intellectually lazy and make bad decisions: look in the mirror and you will see the single biggest collection of issues responsible for your situation - NOT those who aplied themselves, made sacrifices, struggled relentlessly, AND MADE SMART CHOICES, eg no breeding in poverty.
Had first kid at 19 just to make it harder, sure makes you pay attention to where you need to be. Refused to go on welfare moved 4000 miles to get work. Never without perpetual 5 year plan to increase net worth. Retired now sitting pretty.
My taxes fed two other families along the way.
That's very good for Jack but somebody needs to get Jack off his high horse; I love what I do every day so it's not work and I wouldn't trade it for a billion dollars....I've had painful times when I would have gladly given a trillion dollars just to escape the pain....
I see first generation US residents 'making it' all around me. Most are from Asia (Nepal, Pakistan, India, and Arabs) who have their own businesses. Most Amerikans are indoctrinated and don't have the drive to do anything but expect someone else to provide for them. Whatever "exceptionalism" used to be associated w/ this country, it doesn't describe most of its denizens. jmo
For the many retards commenting here who are allowed to write even though they obviously cannot read or think:
Jack said: "If You're Poor At 35, You Deserve It"
He did NOT say you should be wealthy at age 35, just that if you are still poor by that age, then it is your own fault.
I would agree with that but also add that it may also be your parents' fault if they did not provide proper upbringing, including teaching proper values, how the world works and make your own way in it, AND provide you with a financial/educational/vocational start.
Lastly, the biggest problem that the poor make is breeding when they cannot afford to properly support new even poorer people. This reckless breeding, fueled by entitlement programs, is why the number of "poor" people keeps exploding. the only way to reduce the number of "poor" is to stop subsidizing them and stop them from replicating.
Harsh realities that most can't admit or wrap their heads around. Decades of conditioning the youth has led us to where we currently reside. We tend to only view desperation, despair and discomfort as negative conditions that lead to negative consequences. Those very conditions have often lead one to achieve greatness as well.
Born into abject poverty and abandonment I made a choice not to procreate until I could afford to do so. I did not want a child to hinder my options nor did I want to bring a child or children into the same world I grew up in. My other siblings didn't consider any of that and never left, never knew what it felt to not live paycheck to paycheck where one bad break sets you behind and in debt further and further. Not implying I'm rich or wealthy but compared to where I started out in the world I did well enough to be considered middle class. Naturally my family thinks I'm rich and for years have viewed me as their backstop with no repayment necessary, because after all, we are family.
I do get a bit jealous to see many of my peers have grown children, graduating high school and even college while I still have young children, not yet start high school and I don't have enough life left to finish the job. I'm not that old, just caught a bad break health wise. The one thing wealth cannot buy is good health, which I realized much too late was even more important than wealth itself. Wealth, without health is hardly worth it. That or either I have never attained as much wealth as it takes to compensate for lack of health. I don't believe that much wealth in the world exist. In the end you can do many of the "right things" and life still conspires against us all at some point.
Life is hard and unfair although you don't sound like one who lacks ambition or vision or determination. In that alone you are extremely wealthy!
what we need to do is the following:
Lol! knock it off! Lol!
The only shame that a "poor" person should suffer is their lack of commitment to a better life. If the shoe fits...
This guy may be rich, but God in heaven he's got to be one of the ugliest motherfuckers ever to walk the earth.
Ugly Jack would pose a real quandary for even the most ardent of gold-diggers.
quan·da·ry ?kwänd(?)r?/ noun noun: quandary; plural noun: quandaries a state of perplexity or uncertainty over what to do in a difficult situation. When you are as wealthy as this guy, looks don't matter, at all. You just buy everything: friends, sex, islands...
The sociopaths in WDC would not win any beauty contests: e.g. Yellen
Listen Knight of Slope,
I understand your point. It is exceedingly important that the "RICH" and "SUCCESSFUL" are beautiful people too. Afterall, the little people must be able to "ENVY" the whole package when they watch their USSA Entertainment Tonight show.
A perfect example is your USSA Zuckerburger. "RICH", oh so "HANDSOME"(ooh la la), and bonafide member of tribe. Mosel-toff bitchez!
Absolutely incredible when you think that this wiley dude was a card carrying little red book marxist back in his teens & now founded & runs one of the top 10 S&P 500 companies! The blathering intellectual elitist Dr.Paul Krugam should be giving Jackie his Nobel Peace Prize in Economics! Good on J.M!
human history is mostly about sociopaths fighting to be at the top and non-sociopaths trying to figure out institutions that would prevent it.
Only communist history!
Cocksuckers like this is why when the SHTF, the rich are going to be skinned alive. He should take his billions, shut his mouth, and crawl back under whatever rock he crawled out of.
Spoken like a proud socialist!
No asshole, I'm not a socialist. Just saying that when idiots like this open their mouth and say incredibly stupid things about the poor, they put a target right on their backs, and by extention, on the backs of any of us that even appear to have a couple of gold coins to rub together. Now, go fuck yourself.
Spoken like a true Marxist!
The poor didn't get that way because the rich stole from them. Grow up
Ha ha ... tha's a good 1 .... you gotta stay away from the socialist liberal wealth redistributor types & their way of thinkin' ...unless yur 1 of 'em!!!!
It takes a lot of energy to fight off an ideology that seems to have overwhelming support, even if they're used to it being called something like 'fairness.'
What amazes me is how Amerika has bought into the big government socialist clap trap hook, line & stinker over the past few decades! And BTW life ain't fair ... nowhere! Beware of those who try to make it fair - they are the enemy 4 sure!
Where did I say that, moron? Can you read beyond 3rd grade comprehension? I am not disparaging the rich. Most, earned their money through great sacrifices in terms of delayed gratification, etc., and are entitled to the fruits of their labor. None of them got where they are without a certain amount of fortuitousness (luck, for you 3rd graders). Therefore, they should thank God, Buddha, The Great Pumpkin, or whatever deity they worship, and keep their stupid mouths shut about how inept the rest of us are (true though it might be).
It's interesting to note that the average vote is 2.5
Many people take offense at Mr. Ma's opinion. They have convinced themselves that they are not directly responsible for their own success or failure. They cling to anecdotes - even made up ones - as facts.
These are the same people who scream "SCIENCE!" without understanding that that actually means.
These are the same people who view celebrities as demigods, without acknowledging that it takes a pretty shallow person to want to be a celebrity in the first place.
They are logically consistent in their illogic, and desparate to prove that "it's NOT my fault - there are forces aligned against me that I simply cannot overcome..."
It would be pitiful, except for the fact that these people vote...
Amen brother!
It’s the N.W.O. keeping us down.
Somehow, Obama ‘just’ slipped through too.
"We are all self-made, but only the successful will admit it." --Earl Nightingale
P.S., Earl also said that success was not necessarily wealth--it is simply being on-purpose in your life.
To think one can overcome all external forces is flawed. Its the same "we are all equal" BS these professors preach. You spewed a bunch of philosopy but failed to look at the real world data. Not all men (or organisms in general) are created equal or born to an environment which is equal. If it were, please explain evolution.
When Alibaba flames out and implodes the payback will be epic.
Ron Paul/Jack Ma in '16!
Jack Ma is now the 29th richest guy in the world.
We ZH'ers must be in the top 4,000,000,000 richest at least.
Now that's harsh!
Congrats Ma! See ya in hell buddy. Enjoy the whatever.
Hey now, brother! Ma lives where the strange winds blow... ;-)
"First to arrive, last to leave"
Utter disaster.. means their output per hour sucks and that's why they needs to be first in and last out. Not to mention the rest of her "human experience" she misses out on.
I pity those fools.
Jack
Go read Malcom Gladwells Outliers.
On a long enough time line, one of us will be a billionare...
It not 'how could this happen'; its 'how could this Not happen?'
Totally egocentric. Zuckerberg can trump Ma: if you haven't made it by 25, you're a loser.
Behind every great fortune lies a great crime

Bah! I agree.
arrogant moron
go f*ck yourself
he can be cocky all he wants. Lets see how he fares on the global stage.
Will never be a fan of an idiot with loads of $$$. $$$ does not equal wisdom and knowledge. Anyway, his business model is simply a rip off of Ebay and Amazon.
I'm happy for him to make so much $$$, but it does not automatically make him the knowledge master of wealth.
People that are true tech titans are the great Steve Jobs (although I hate apple stuff and believe Jobs has his blind spots, he's non the less proven he's a genius coming back from failure). Great monoplists are Bill Gates, but I'm not a fan of his charity now killing babies with vaccines etc. He's gone globalist now and is in full Satan mode.
They are all peers. He founded AliBaba at the same time! He is just bigger than both AMZN & EBAY put together and makes piles more $$$ them either of them!
So everyone on earth can be a billionaire, if they just applied themselves. Does he not see the flaw in the logic?
Nope!
