Yes, Open Borders, killed trade jobs for locals in England, Germany, Sweden, France and others. Polish plumbers and carpenters walked into the UK 1 million strong and willing to work for way less, took nearly every job a local kid, 20 years ago, could have trained for and gotten. Corporations fucking love it! And the work is shitty as well! Fucking wanker plumbers, cunts. I never seen such shit work as Polish plumbers did in the UK house I stay in when over there.

Learning trades is so '80s.

Today's trades pay $10 to $12 an hour. If you don't believe me look at Monster, Career Builder, Craigslist, or stop by in-person at any of these companies.

Simple, they denigrate you for trying to be happy working with wood or anything that doesn't fit the entitled agenda.

A skill? heaven forbid.

It started with the denigration of those who got dirty and smelly at work and evolved to anyone who actually goes to work at all. Utopia is officially here when those who would work are the dumbasses. I'm a dumbass that goes home dirty most every day.

Good stuff to know.  When my son was in high school ROTC class, I asked what he is learning and he said they studied practical stuff like basic finance and financial responsibility, not anything about how to use a gun.  Basically learning how to be a better prepared citizen (oh wait, no guns?).  Not sure if they studied the Constitution in that class.

I was in high school Army ROTC in the mid/late '60s at the height of the Vietnam war.

The department was run by a retired colonel and sergeant - both mild mannered and kind.

The thought was that we were being groomed for a military career and would be joining the war effort upon graduation. It was taken very seriously.

I chose ROTC over sports thinking it would be more interesting and useful (true), plus I hated sports with a passion.

Lots of .22 shooting range practice and weapons safety training. Endless drilling and marching with ancient beat up M-1 rifles. Wore a uniform once a week.

One day we had to remove all the firing pins from the M-1s because there were rumors that "undesirable elements" were scheming to steal the rifles and do bad stuff.

We watched training films on the use and operating priciples of various weapons. The end of one film stated, "In semi-auto mode you can pick the enemy off one at a time... and in full-auto mode you can kill them wholesale!" The room erupted in hoots and hollers and stomping of feet.

We had visiting veterans of Korea and Vietnam with strange piercing eyes tell us stories of bravery and survival.

Took a lot of verbal abuse from anti-war students and the occasional teacher.

We also played a lot of very fast and aggressive "one pitch softball" as a team building exercise thus thwarting my attempt to avoid all sports. Actually enjoyed it and got good at it.

The high school lobby had a display case/shrine to the students that had been killed in the jungles of SE Asia.

Seemed all quite normal at the time.

Well, "Traditional" auto engineering has now been completely replaced by "The Computer Tells Me What To Do" auto engineering. "Safety" and "Environmental" regulations have spelt the death knell for such pastimes as Kit Car building, so the need to acquire engineering skills from a hobby perspective has gone.

In Australia, most aspects of home maintenance are discouraged - electrics - illegal ("dangerous" don't you know), plumbing (Warranty Issues - HAS to be done by a "Licenced" Tradesman), and then there's the "snob" value of being able to get a "Tradesman" to do the jobs one could (and should) be doing - "because one can".

Carpentry?? "We've got a Machine that does that for us" . . . . .

So, no "need" for a skill means no-one acquires the knowledge underpinning that skill.

No knowledge = no understanding.

And so the progressive "dumbing-down" of our Society proceeds as planned. As long as Facebook is up and available, "everyone's" happy . . . .

I also have some really good family friends, young people in their 20's, with college degrees. Nice kids, but badly let down by their field of study, their degrees and the university that told them that that line of study was a really good field to be in. Sadly, I know some of these kids have been working long shifts as restaurant servers. Yes, they make tips, and are making a living. But why take 25K student debt and all, just to serve food. Others make coffee for Starbucks, as if that is what 4 year education was all about. Some, a very small minority, have used family inside conections to get corporate starting positions. Only people who get those have a family member already inside the corporation to sponser the applicant. No sponser, they will not even give an interview to you.

Most take shit jobs, and some are approaching 30 years old, and working food service! Fuck, at 30 I was a 6 year veteran, a 3 year tech college graduate, and former factory and civil service worker starting a career in electronics of the semi conductor age. So many young people I know have lived at home, lived on campus, and done food service and are nearing 30! Boy, if that is where you are at 30, you are screwed!

The dialogue can also go like this:

Judy: "Hi Jill, remember me?!?"

Jill squints through the bulldyke glasses and considers whether to pretend not to remember her even though they were best friends in grade school.
Jill with a fake smile says:

"Oh hi Judy, I'll take the oriental chicken salad and a diet coke."

Judy: "Well what have you been up to?"

Jill: "After college I got a filing job at the state and I doubled my salary in a decade, get full benefits and a lifelong pension. What's best and unlike you is I can simple ignore the people I wait on and keep getting raises."

Judy: "You mean you don't have to do anything at work and you still get raises?"

Jill: "Exactly, now will you hurry up and get my salad, I've got a err... meeting to attend."

You will not even get an interview if you have a good education, and or have had a great job in the past.  Why? "Oh, you are over qualified, or you will leave soon for a better offer!"  These excuses are only given if you get an interview!

I had an interview at Kroger for a position in their produce dept.  The hiring manager said that he did not think that I could handle all of the lifting and fast paced environment!

I'm in great shape!  It was such a poor excuse that I felt sorry for him.  He was squirming in his chair!

It's just pointless.

Try getting a job waiting tables!  The restuarants will not even talk to you unless you have experience.

Then you get family that thinks you are just lazy!  or not willing to work for nothing!

So I said fuck it!  I'll try and sell my latest design.

I am organizing a campaign to make the minimum wage in San Francisco $125 per hour.

After I succeed in getting it enacted, the burger flipper will be saying: "After high school, my gender collective got me this living wage job.  Now I can give career advice to college grads."

is well paying 65k in s fl?   then sure, but i dont think well paying is 65k, 120k+ is well paid, as it affords a person the ability to save, own a car w/out payments and live in a middle class (250k+ homes) neighborhood, while paying off student loans.

what I notice is that anyone can get a job making 40k, working 40hrs/week and asking for piss breaks.  if you make 65k, youd better come in early stay late and miss your kids meetings/games/practices/volunteer time and only be absent from work 15 days/year.    then it starts to thin out, and the workers who get paid 100k+ that I know are slaves to their companies.  literally cancelling a planned family vacation, literally being told they need to fly across country and stay there for several days with 24 hours notice;  they are expected to respond to texts/emails at midnight and Sundays and they DO it so that the marginal $1000/month they clear gets them the nicer car, slightly bigger house, better toys (bikes/vacation destinations).

the only people who earn a livable wage and have their own time are the self employed and those in sales.  the self employed get paid more when they work more on the weekennd etc.  and sales, well its all about getting other peoples money no matter how shitty the product or service or how much the customer doesnt need what youre selling--sell it!

our value system if fucked up and it all starts with depreciating the value of your saved labor.

The "New Normal" is that the Malthusians are running things.

Step back and look at the big picture and you will realize that all their "illogical" policies are quite logical IF you understand that they believe there are too many people on THEIR planet.

Most of you need to go away.

Family planning. Abortion. Condoms in high school. vaccinations (with sterility agents), one child policies, government healthcare with "end of life planning/death panels", "Open Space Preserves" (rural depopulation), mass transit/urban transit villages (population warehousing), suppressing/dismantling public hygeine practices (banning DDT, banning single use bags), suppressing health screening for mass migration/immigration, suppressing/repressing efficient agricultral production and land use policies, etc. etc.

Paul Erlich wrote their manifesto: "The Population Bomb".

Rachel Carson started the ball rolling by writing "Silent Spring", banning DDT and getting rid of hundreds of millions of third worlders.

Margaret Sanger made white liberals feel good about aborting tens of millions of black people.

Sandra Fluke is your role model: embrace your extinction.

They imagine because their sysem can't provide enough jobs it's because of too many people.

If they get rid of two or three billion, the problem won't go away. The question then will be whether they take the whole planet down with them.

Yeah, 'their' population control is a smashing success- or not.  Population growth is going exponential, so if 'they' are trying to curb population as you intimate, 'they' are failing miserably.

"They" are succeeding fabulously well among the productive people of developed societies.  Northern Europe, Russia, Japan, "white" America are all declining populations.

The populations of primitive "non-industrial" peoples are growing.  But at the end of the day, these populations will collapse with horrific suffering and violence.

10,000 years ago, all humans were tribal hunter gathers.  They lived subsistence existences. The population of the planet was only hundreds of thousands or a few million.

The invention of capitalism (agriculture and trade) created wealth, produced vast excess resources, and increased the population of the earth to billions.

Destroy capitalism, eliminate productive people and developed societies, and humanity returns to foraging and subsistence.

It's happening. "They" are succeeding.

Alex Jones has been whining about "population reduction" for years and years.

The irony is that we have gained 1.5 billion humans globally since he got on air in the mid-90s.

It took from the beginning of time all the way up to the Industrial Revolution to go from 0 to 1.5billion. Yet from 1997 until now we get 1.5 billion added on top of the 6 billion.

The population reduction internet conspiracies are so beyond laughable, I don't where to even start.

You're not disagreeing with what I said. You're just ignoring it.

Advanced "capitalist" productive populations are declining. Primitive forager populations dependent on the surplus resources produced by capitalism are increasing.

They will increase until they don't.

If you don't know where to start, I can't help you.

The long-term implications of poor job creation are massive. The biggest may be that a huge number of people are dropping from the work force. Often these people have little in the way of savings, this means that the burden of caring for them will be transferred to society. If to many people shift into this category we will slowly wear down through attrition.

Finding a fair way to share and balance the work load that goes on every day may be one of the most important problems facing our modern world. Not discovering a solution to this dilemma bodes poorly for our consumer driven economy and adds to the toxic problem of inequality. More on the implications of unemployment in the article below.
