ISIS Splinter Group "Caliphate Soldiers" Beheads French Hostage In Algeria

Tyler Durden's picture

A new armed group in Algeria calling itself the "Caliphate Soldiers"  - a re-splinter from Al-Qaeda splinter group ISIS - has, according to AP, beheaded a Frenchman abducted in Algeria in a video posted online on Wednesday, after giving a 24-hour deadline to Paris. Herve Gourdel, a 55-year-old hiker from the southern French city of Nice, was kidnapped on Sunday by Jund al-Khilifa, which demanded France stop its air strikes against IS in Iraq.

The initial threat video sent 24 hours ago...

Masked men seen in the new video give the French government 24 hours to stop its offensive against ISIL, otherwise Gourdel “will be beheaded”.

The French foreign ministry has confirmed the video’s authenticity.

“We confirm the authenticity of the video showing images of French hostage Hervé Gourdel, kidnapped in Algeria in the region of Tizi Ouzou on Sunday (September 21). The threats made by this terrorist group show once again the extreme cruelty of Daech (Islamic State/ISIL) and those who say they are affiliated to it,” the ministry said in a statement.

And now, as SITE reports...

Reuters has some color on this new terrorist group,

A breakaway of key Algerian commanders from Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, known as AQIM, would show deepening rivalry between al Qaeda's core command and the Islamic State over leadership of the transnational Islamist militancy.

The newly created "Caliphate Soldiers" or "Jound al Khilafa fi Ard al Jazayer" is the second group to break with AQIM, the first one being Mokhtar Belmokhtar's group "Those who sign in Blood" who observers say are likely based now in southern Libya.

"The new group will try hard to make some noise, but it will be very difficult to execute big terrorist actions as Algerian security forces have knocked out most of the armed groups in Algeria," local security analyst Anis Rahmani said.

Just because one of his French comrads told him to "take a hike" in Algeria doesn't mean he actually had to do it.

I'm a nurse and was a writing a nursing note the other day. Another nurse, also a fan of this film and who had the same patient a couple of days before, dared me to write this in a note. "The pt is fucked up. Pt talks like a fag and his shit's all retarded."

I was tempted.

Looks like Obama is really getting busy with fighting the different groups and waging more wars. It seems to me that he is really enjoying doing it and it's a good news for him.

Seems a lot more cost effective than firing Tomahawk missiles and $300 million F-22's to kill people, more humane too probably...

Hi NSA or whomever reads this, I am extremely horrified at what I am being taxed to support. If you get a chance, please watch russell brand's youtube vids, maybe you can be a little better informed about the core humanitarian issues at stake here, and possibly make some better policy decisions. The middle east has really become a powder keg of a situation.

I encourage others to begin complaining & whining about all these unnecessary problems, and tell governments they need to start looking at the root problem. Not after anyone's job here, but the nonsense should be brought to a stop. No I cannot do anything if you oppose what I say here, and yes it would seem that you have begun suppressing first ammendment rights, but remember, your a person just like me with his/her own creaturely needs, and therefore, more equalitarian measures should be pursued.

Be more creative in dealings with others, extend the olive branch, and no I am not mocking here, but to quote something mentioned by slavoj zizek, it would seem that we have a euthanasia of tolerant reason.
