Sudden USDollar Surge Sparks Silver & Stocks Smackdown

Tyler Durden's picture

EURUSD is back under 1.28 (for the first time since July 2013) as sustained USD demand since around 845ET has driven the USD Index up to fresh 4-year highs. Bonds are not reacting much to this significant move (for now) but stocks are pushing to the lows of the day as carry-induced euphoria is failing fast. Precious metals are sliding led by Silver.

The USD Index is ripping higher...

with EUR back under 1.28...

USD up against all the majors...

Which sent gold and silver tumbling...

and any carry-induced euphoria hopes have been dashed...

Extinguishing of USD means less USD floating means ALL ASSETS drop in price when measured in USD

Gold and silver will drop much slower than the rest which will collapse due to margin call on leverage, hence gold and silver will rise when compared to s&p or dow or oil

I am not at all worried about a smaller dollar supply.  Not even worried about a smaller credit supply.  Even if you think it is happening, it isn't.  Banker and government appetite for cheap credit, free cash, and bailouts is endless.  All fiat is created by Wall Street and Bankers to serve Wall Street, Bankers, and the government.  There will be no shortage.  Hold a supply of self storable "not-dollars".  The future is one of political decisions.  All I know for sure is that they will all be wrong and they will all involve printing money.

Margin call under way, from NY Fed on the financial system

NY Fed is draining dollars by unwinding Quantitative Easing right now as I type up this.

Will it continue?

This is Triple Lehman in the making, unless it stops, like it stopped in January 2014 what started in May 2013.

Let's see

Wed, 09/24/2014 - 09:51 | 5251289 Dr. Engali
Dr. Engali's picture

The fed is not draining liqudity. It's balance sheet continues to grow. This is money being drained from weak hands as they are forced to cough it up either due to margin calls or in order to live.

I agree.  Maintaining power and control of real resources (which is all this is ever about) is requiring more and more ownership across the financial/economic spectrum.  Flushing out weak hands is paramount, always has been.  The Fed is going to attempt to defend the dollar after all, it's the only thing that they really have any control of anyway and it is still just a promise, but we are dealing with a very well-conditioned world of sheep now.

Easy.

1) Declare a state of emergency due to "Financial Terrorism", "Financial Pearl Harbor", "Financial 9/11" or something along these lines

2) Scream that China is threatening our freedom by hoarding PMs in an attempt to destabilize the US financial system.

3) Accuse everyone holding PMs as a collaborator.  Raid homes to discover the "fifth columnists".

4) Confiscate your holdings while accusing you of treason and "collaborating with the enemy".

5) COMEX settles their contracts, you end up in a detention camp.

See how easy it is?

Right, two big problems with that;

1) less than 1% of americans have any PMs and the rest of us keep having boating accidents.

2) more than enough guns in American households to go around, go ahead, start some "random raids", I double dog dare you.  You are dealing with a well-armed country that has been in a perpetual state of war since the mid-sixties.  If these oligarchs (now easiy identified via the information age-I certainly have my Bilderberg list) really want to reap what they have been sowing, go ahead and let's get this party started.

No fucking way....idiot statement....I hope that was just bad sarcasm, lol

Who's going to conduct those airstrikes on behalf of an insane, treasonous, criminal regime???  Even I don't think it would get that far.  Is some 19 year old kid going to push the button from his remote control and launch a missile from his drone into an American neighborhood???

Is any military pilot going to do the same and launch on an American town or drop a bomb on us?  I highly doubt it.  And if one of them did they'd be dead after the rest of their squardron shoots them down.

There are many good guys on our side as high up as the Pentagon.  They won't allow some piece of shit Marxist scumbag to take it that far.  That will be the end of this "civilian" government rule and the military will finally move in and take control to restore order.

Plenty of high up people know a coupe has taken place and they're just giving enough rope to really let the likes of obama and his rogue crew of criminal, treasonous, sociopath scum take it too far against us and then they will stop it.

Yeah, I know we have rogue cops in some very fucked up militarized police departmens all over the country and a DHS that's out of control.  But these are mostly compartmentalized dumbshits are super hero head trips on roids who think they're fighting crime by fucking with everyday innocent civilians.  Those fucktards won't last long either.

The only thing I could imagine would be the obama regime allowing some mercinaries and foreign troops to pull some shit, or to get someone to pull a false flag bombing, etc.  But even the false flag shit is wearing thin and nobody is falling for it anymore.

They really are sloppy with their tactics and the people are waking up more and more each and every day.  There are literally 10's of millions of us across the country who are armed up and ready to rock if need be.  Just all the registered hunters in America would constitute the largest armed militia in the world at over 100 million people with more guns than that and billions of rounds of ammo.

If local police in certain towns want to get evil against the populace well they can try.  But they better fucking remember that they live in those towns and people know where they live.  They have their own homes and families to protect and they can't be in two places at once.  They have to sleep and eat too.  They won't last very long under that kind of stress if they turn against the public.  Game over.

Just keep stacking everything important.  Stay calm, cool, and collected.  Stay aware and keep your head on a swivel always.  We got this shit eventually.  It's just going to be a fucked up bumpy ride.  But in the end there's no way these sociopathic scumbags will be able to control the American military and the good people of this country and the republic will be restored in the end.

Not so. We have great sympathy for those Semites in Gaza and the West Bank. The ones in Tel Aviv... not so much.

Still projecting:

1150ish

14ish (updated from 17 to 15ish to this now)

Assuming they behave there like nice little skanks then even I may get long phyzz substantially and I realize I've been "that guy" that most consider a dickhead being bearish PMs for quite some time now.

I think stackers are getting so used to this bull shit that we've learned to embrace it.

The "strong dollar" narrative has been pushed and pushed as of recently. It barely won out over "tastiest turd" in the effort to rebrand the sinking dollar being dispatched with almost daily non-dollar bilateral trade agreements.

Make no mistake, this Silver smack down is an attempt to free the paper markets from the HUGE open interest positions standing for physical delivery. These long positions are not going anywhere which has the manipulators painted into a corner they created.

Stackers rejoice! The end of manipulation is near. Let the collapse begin, the hangings commence and the free-market rise again.

With Extraction prices around 20 dollars for most mines, a spot price in the 17 spells big trouble for the mines that did not sell off production in the twenties.  I am the fool that was buying with both hands in the mid twenties, and who sold all my stock positions in 2008 at a loss. For me it is buy and hold, because I don't trust anything these days. Hopefully it will pay out, and our once great country will be able to stay united and start building a future that isn't based on lies. Some Big things need to change, if the US is going to exist in 100 years.  I think we need to start by kicking Corporations out of the Election racket. Then go from there. 6.06

Every now and then a very notable and important event occurs, sometimes it slips by without even being noticed. For months the major world currencies have traded in a narrow range as if held in limbo by some great force.  This has allowed people to think we were on sound footing as central banks across the world continued to print and pump out money chasing the "ever elusive growth" that always appears to be just around the corner.

Weak demand for goods and most of this money flowing into intangible investments inflation has not been a major problem, but the seeds for its future growth have been planted everywhere. John Maynard Keynes said By a continuing process of inflation, government can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens.

While there are not many Bond Vigilantes there are a slew of  Currency Vigilantes and they are ready to make their presence known. Weakness in the value of the Yen, Pound, and Euro must not go unnoticed. More on why this may be a signal that currency trading is about to get very wild in the article below.
