How Bad Could It Get? US Government Order Of 160,000 HazMat Suits Gives A Clue

Tyler Durden's picture

Now that Ebola is officially in the US on an uncontrolled basis, the two questions on everyone's lips are i) who will get sick next and ii) how bad could it get?

We don't know the answer to question #1 just yet, but when it comes to the second one, a press release three weeks ago from Lakeland Industries, a manufacturer and seller of a "comprehensive line of safety garments and accessories for the industrial protective clothing market" may provide some insight into just how bad the US State Department thinks it may get. Because when the US government buys 160,000 hazmat suits specifically designed against Ebola, just ahead of the worst Ebola epidemic in history making US landfall, one wonders: what do they know the we don't?

From Lakeland Industries:

Lakeland Industries, Inc. (LAKE), a leading global manufacturer of industrial protective clothing for industry, municipalities, healthcare and to first responders on the federal, state and local levels, today announced the global availability of its protective apparel for use in handling the Ebola virus.  In response to the increasing demand for specialty protective suits to be worm by healthcare workers and others being exposed to Ebola, Lakeland is increasing its manufacturing capacity for these garments and includes proprietary processes for specialized seam sealing, a far superior technology for protecting against viral hazards than non-sealed products.

"Lakeland stands ready to join the fight against the spread of Ebola," said Christopher J. Ryan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lakeland Industries.  "We understand the difficulty of getting appropriate products through a procurement system that in times of crisis favors availability over specification, and we hope our added capacity will help alleviate that problem.  With the U.S. State Department alone putting out a bid for 160,000 suits, we encourage all protective apparel companies to increase their manufacturing capacity for sealed seam garments so that our industry can do its part in addressing this threat to global health.

Of course, purchases by the US government are bought and paid for by taxpayers. For everyone else there's $1200 mail-order delivery:

That said... 160,000 HazMats for a disease that is supposedly not airborne? Mmmk.

$1,200 from Amazon.

So DoS bulk ordering 160,000 of these means the Gov will only pay about $4,800/each.

I feel better off already!

One guy who I would pay attention speaking about this is Michael Savage. He maybe a radio host but he is also a doctor and knows just a little bit about epidemiology.

As he has stated on the subject on his radio show.

Simply determine the strain of the enterovirus and see if it’s the same one afflicting people in, let’s say, Honduras or Guatemala. If there is no correlation then you can rule out the border as an issue but if there is. These things do have unique markers to them.

They have plenty of samples in plenty of states to do the simple test but yet none have yet as far as I am aware.

With the elections coming up what better way to suspend the elections due to an infectious outbreak of deadly ebola.

Then again, isis could have cells waiting for the elections and infecting people who go to the vioting booth to then halt the elections half way through the day due to emergency outbreaks.

We had elections but there was a "CRISIS" that couldn't be averted after we allowed it to cross the border from central americal where a lot of terrorists are calling home these days.

Edit: a lot of terrorists we helped create and gave airfare to are calling home these days. FIFM

Tell you one thing, it's not making it any easier to keep the markets levitated. S&P is now challenging a weekly trend line that extends back to the last quarter of 2012. If that support fails, we could easily fall to 1550, picking up support there from the LT trendline off the 2009 and 2011 lows.

How many healthcare workers came in contact with him or his blood/body fluids in the hospital....like the lab, the equipment? He was sent home on antibiotics. He went to the store exchanged money. If he took mass transit the numbers of exposed just jumped dramatically. He went back to the hospital and was greeted and triaged before they put him on isolation. “what do they know that we don’t?”

Well, for one thing, they know the DHS is tasked to suppress and eliminate American dissidents – not so-called “terrorists”.

I mean, who else could be the enemy if the DHS thinks it needs 2 billion rounds of ammo (an amount capable of waging an Iraqi war for 25 years at its highest rate of killing) to put down a half dozen so-called “terrorists”?

Further, what else could be its purpose (murdering dissidents) when it is modeled after French committees of terror (1792-4), the Judeo-Bolshevik cheka (KGB, GPU, NKVD et cetera) and the Nazi Schutzstaffel?

But, how could this be possible?  Where would the DHS find enough assassins to eliminate 50 – 100 million American dissidents?  Native assassins have been found (by Judeo-Bolsheviks, they’ve had some 4000 years experience) to be useless after 2-10 such murders.  Where… where?  That is the problem.  Not really, this is where the ALLIANCE will be enlisted; it was cobbled together by the Chinese communists after they took possession of the Panama Canal.  It is comprised of Mexican and Columbian drug cartels, Chinese Triads, Red army, Chinese communist party and several US government agencies (Congress, DoJ, DoD, DEA, FBI, et cetera).  Simultaneously, they smuggled into the US 150 top level Chinese crime bosses thru Panama.  Don’t take my word for it; I collected this info from testimony before a congressional subcommittee and Federal Reserve publications.

Oh, there’s a lot we don’t know.

a key point.

Gupta was just on CNN saying there is no concern re passengers on the plane bcause the virus was incubating.

That is absolute garbage - while its very possible no one else was or became infected - you for fuck's sure want to know who may have been infected, or transmitted

There's some scare mongering, but for goodness sake a Dalls ER let the guy walk out after he said he was from Liberia?

Incompetence like this will happen again - that is the real problem.

This shit is about to got cata-fucking-tonic. Ill be picking up more H2O2 tomorrow as soon as I can. 4 Gal for less than $100 ! 1 oz of H2O2 makes for an excellent household cleaner. Works great to clean stainless steel as well! If you need to travel in a situation like this. Always carry a bottle of 20% hydrogen peroxide as a cleaning agent. Soak a rag in it and wear it around your face, cover your eyes with goggles. Food grade hydrogen peroxide, citric acid, and bleach are must haves. And always caryy a bottle of heavy disinfectant if you need to travel.

We know that Ebola can go from Africa's fruit bat to humans. What other animals can get or spread Ebola?...  Cat, dog, American bats, birds, rodents, fleas, ticks, etc, etc... We could have a permanent problem with Ebola, just as Africa does, depending on how many critters can catch and spread Ebola.

Ebola is in the population of North America and the lying bastards at the CDC and US gov knew that this was going to happen by the actions of their policies. We should of, would have, could have, all does not matter any more. We are in serious trouble. "Texas Gov. Rick Perry has confirmed that the first US diagnosed Ebola patient, who is now in serious but stable condition in Dallas, had contact with children before he showed symptoms of the virus." http://rt.com/usa/192284-ebola-us-home-antibiotics/  There will be no getting over it, each week this will get worse. Only the opportunistic parasites (aka elite assholes) think they can survive it with money and mobility, I am personally going to piss in their corn flakes.

That's not a lot of hazmat suits.

if the protocol is to change suits daily, that's barely a month's supply for 5000 workers.

Unless the suits can be thoroughly decontaminated, it may be safer to burn the suits.

Or the suits may need to spend a week soaking in bleach

I did an on-camera in the exact suit, and it had a "breach seat," or an ass exit cut by the guy who wore it. In Contam the only way out of a suit like this is through the area of least contact, either the back or ass.

This was a polio case, so I was not worried about climbing into the suit, but all the hills and valleys of the material gave me serious pause.
