Texas Governor Rick Perry To Explain How (Despite 2nd Case) Ebola Is "Contained" - Live Feed

Tyler Durden's picture

With rumors spreading (and seemingly confirmed) of a 2nd Ebola case in Dallas; Texas Governor Rick Perry is set to explain to the American public that it's all under control (despite the hospital discharging the Ebola victim 2 days ago) and the virus is contained (despite its potential spread to 12-18 more people)... Reuters further reports that the man being treated for Ebola in Texas traveled through Brussels en route to US according to the Liberian ministry of information. Rest assured Americans, Dance Moms will be on soon...

As KRJH reports,

A second person in Texas is being monitored for Ebola after coming into close contact with the first person in the U.S. diagnosed, according to health officials.

Gov. Rick Perry has scheduled a news conference at a Dallas hospital where a man with the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the U.S. remains in isolation.

Perry plans to speak at noon CDT Wednesday at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. He'll be joined by Dr. David Lakey, who's commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Governor Perry is due to speak at 1300ET (via NBC Dallas)

This is insanity.

WTF is wrong with our society?

A known virus with 50+% fatality rate and no vaccine or treatment regimen - and we let people fly in from infected regions!?

Is it because it was in Africa that we didn't take it seriously?  Is it the old imperialism and prejudices?

We have a police state but can't keep people out?

Utter stupidity, insanity, and criminal corruption.

@ebworthen:

What's wrong is that the people running the show are so terrified of the economy tanking and them being blamed for it that ALL other considerations are put in second place.  Any plan that would involve a hit economically is ruled out.  They've been living this way since the market crash in 1987, and they cannot imagine any other way of handling any problem now.  There is nothing worse in their mind than an economic contraction attributable to them.  Because they are so blinded by this fear, they deny the genuine threats around them in their desperate attempt to keep everything "normal".  We are fucked.

The scary part is that people can be symptomatic and contagious while it still looks like a run of the mill flu. An infected person doesn't even have to be malicious or criminally negligent to accidentally infect others. And siunce there are so many jobs that don't grant any kind of PTO, especially *cough* food workers ... well, when I worked at a restaurant, giving people the choice between working through flu symptoms and not being able to feed their kids that month is a bit of a Sophie's Choice that's handed to millions of American üntermenschen.

Africa loses tens of thousands every year to illnesses from unsanitary conditions (sewage in streets, etc).

Ebola is just one of those illnesses from unsanitary conditions.  In another era it was called typhoid.  In another era it was called something else.

Same illness, they just change the name when they need a new fear campaign (for more funding?)

And I'm not aware of sewage running down streets in America.

But that could change of course if/when the dollar collapses and WE drop to 3rd world conditions with our own sewage in streets.

Then yea, ebola and all that stuff might become a problem.

DALLAS — The sister of the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States says he told relatives he notified officials the first time he went to the hospital that he was visiting from Liberia.

Mai Wureh says her brother, Thomas Eric Duncan, went to a Dallas emergency room on Friday and they sent him home with antibiotics. She says he said hospital officials asked for his Social Security number and he said that he didn’t have one because he was visiting from Liberia.

Duncan arrived in the U.S. on Sept. 20 to be with relatives in Dallas. He began to develop symptoms last Wednesday and sought care two days later. He was released and returned to the hospital and was admitted Sunday.

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/metro/20141001-sister-dallas-ebola-patien...

As per this source, the Ebola patient notified the hospital of his situation the FIRST time he went to the hospital, and someone still released him after giving him a prescription for antibiotics.

I am a frequent traveler through London's Heathrow Airport. This is really earth's greatest international Airport Hub! A typical day in the flight lounges sees tens of thousands of people from all over Africa and Asia waiting for flights. Much of this is family related as the UK now houses millions of Africans, Asians and Arabs. I have been in arrivals when African planes are deboarding, the mass of humanity is something to see. Any infectious disease from Africa, Asia or Middle East would find Heathrow a perfect vector to transmit. And the UK itself is a ticking time bomb for Ebola. So many legal and illegals, plus tourists visas for family visits. Parts of London and the Midlands look more like central African cities than as any part of Europe. I'm just saying, look for London and the Uk for an outbreak of Ebola.

Just think about it....This patient was sick for 3 days before going to the hospital initially. How many healthcare workers came in contact with him or his blood/body fluids in the hospital....like the lab, the equipment? He was sent home on antibiotics for two days. He went to the store exchanged money. If he took mass transit the numbers of exposed just jumped dramatically. He went back to the hospital and was greeted and triaged before they put him on isolation. Oh shit things just got from bad to worse. Just what they wanted a medical martial law situation in the making. Agenda 21 anyone? Your rights will be recinded during the period of martial law. "Wash your hands & wait for the vaccine?!?!"

With such an INCREDIBLY infantile strategy, all we need to do is get Africa to USE SOAP?!?!?

Are there ADULTs ANYWHERE to be found in this administration?!?!

If anyone wonders how this event should play out (to serve justice), I suggest you download the old TV series titled "Jeremiah" and watch the first season and the first two episodes of the second season.

To be clear what I'm saying, what happens in the first two episodes of the second season is how events should play out (to serve justice)... not what happens before the series starts (the background of the series and the first season).  But you need to watch the whole first season before the second season episodes, otherwise you won't know enough to understand what I'm saying.  Plus, you won't enjoy it 1% as much.

Back before I moved out of the USSA, this TV series was available on hulu.  Not sure whether you can watch it on hulu anymore or not, but better to download via torrents anyway (no commercials).

The series very well illustrates the attitude of those predators who call themselves government, both with regard to "care for the people", and later their long term goals... which are resolved so perfectly (for us) in the first two episodes of the second season.  I can think of very few hours of television that were more enjoyable to watch.  Those of you who watched the series know what I mean.

PS:  For those who need motivation to take actions to protect yourself, just watch the series.  Excellent series, albeit cut short (2 seasons).

If we  can't contain a traveler  borne ebola outbreak that means the US government and medical establishment is inferior to Nigeria's:
