Americans On Ebola: "I'm Getting So Nervous"

Tyler Durden's picture

Coast to coast, ordinary Americans are growing more fearful of what Ebola in America means. Despite reassurances from officials (President Obama on down) that it's contained, it appears it is not. By anecdote, as Reuters reports, in the Dallas community of Vickery Meadow (where Richard Duncan was staying), a cultural polyglot where about three dozen languages are spoken, the one word on everyone's lips is "Ebola." There is little indication a visitor to the community had been infected with a disease that has killed more than 3,000 people in West Africa, in the worst Ebola outbreak on record. "There's no notes on the doors. No one came to talk to us. I picked up my kids from school down the street and found out it was this close," one mother exclaimed, adding "right now, I'm not sure to take my daughter to school tomorrow... I'm getting so nervous."

As Reuters reports,

On Sunday, a group of blighted apartments in a section of the neighborhood favored by West African immigrants was shaken by screams as one family saw a recently arrived relative being carted away in an ambulance.

The man was the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the United States. He was last seen by neighbors in the parking lot vomiting on the street.

"I heard about Ebola on the news, but I didn't know it was right here," said Juan Pablo Escalante, 43, who is from Mexico.

There is little indication a visitor to the community had been infected with a disease that has killed more than 3,000 people in West Africa, in the worst Ebola outbreak on record.

"There's no notes on the doors. No one came to talk to us. I picked up my kids from school down the street and found out it was this close," Escalante said on Wednesday.

Dallas County said it would put "boots on the ground" to monitor those who may have been exposed. In Vickery Meadow, residents worried if that would be enough to prevent an outbreak at what has been dubbed "ground zero" for Ebola in the United States. Vickery Meadow is home to about 25,000 people and more than 30 languages spoken among immigrants who have come to Dallas because it has one of the better job markets in the United States and relatively inexpensive property prices.

...

The community's schools have also been touched by Ebola, with five children coming into contact with the patient. The children went to the four different schools they attend after being exposed. They are now home and showing no symptoms, but parents are worried.

Dozens of comments from parents posted on the Dallas Independent School District's Facebook page said more information was needed, including the names of the potentially exposed children.

Just when I think Obola can't top himself, he continues the mass transit program from the most disease-ridden primative places in the world straight into America's largest cities.

I hope that every self-enriching piece-of-shit do-nothing congressman understands that if this thing plays out, not one of them will stay in power.

Staying in power should be the least of their worries. These fuckers supposedly come from our communities. If people start dropping in this here community, old communist congressman "fucknut" will be one very unhappy dude, in office or not. And I mean that in the "I will make a public display with you in the most non-violent of ways", obviously. Cocksuckers, all.

I'm going to be attacked for this, but I must say it: DC US "Ebola" is Latin for "Bullshitola." It's not real folks.

Call me when it's running rampant thru densely populated cities like Mexico City, Delhi, Sao Paulo, Manila, etc.

To be clear on something, this has a lot less to do with "correctness" and a lot more to do with nobody being willing to do the right thing if there is any risk to their professional career. A lot of derps lost their jobs by missing on predictions about swine flu etc, and now nobody is going to go first.

If you want to play the "everyone is an affirmative action stooge" game go ahead, but the reality on the ground is a lot more desperate than a simple trope like that.

This is a Los Alamos computer simulation of the spread of a pandemic starting in L.A.  with ten infected individuals.  For the first fifty days or so the contagion is just warming up.  Then it pops, at around day 60.  If this is can be projected through the air for some distance like some are asserting then this simulation may model the spread. If it does, the collapse is about fifty days out.

As Africans understand that Ebola is spreading there without control, they will become more likley to come into Ebola ridden people. Your middle class African with some cash on hand is going to think "If I book a ticket to the EU or America, I can escape the Ebola, and if I have been infected recently, America is the place to head for before symptomes appear."

My guess is, any African who feels they may have been exposed to Ebola at home, and they have the money to buy an air ticket, they will head to the airport and try to fly to America or EU. If infected, in these states they will get all possible care for free and in unlimited quantities".

Do not be shocked if the Texas patient did not know he was infected by the ebola woman he took to hospital. Where better to fly to that the USA! Now he will get all the best care on earth and for free. His African brothers are reading this story and thinking, "If I think I got it, I gonna fly to USA before I get sick!"

Imagine the possibilites if patient number 1 got through, how many more will try? Don't discount this possibility, it is human nature to seek help anyway possible. All it takes is the money for the ticket.

The first strain of ebola identified in the late 60's was named Marburg Ebola due to its first appearance at a lab in Germany.

As with most technological inventions, the US Military and US agencies usually have some involvement.

Biowarfare is an example.

Until human beings stop spending a majority of resources on elaborate ways to kill other humans, expect the worst.

Here's the shitty part about Ebola: it's an RNA virus. Unlike their DNA counterparts, the enzymes used to replicate RNA are significantly more error-prone by at least multiple orders of magnitude. (RNA polymerases can have an error rate as large as 1 in 10^5 while for DNA polymerases it's around 1 in 10^8)

Those error-prone enzymes mean a higher chance of mutations. Potentially it could be the infamous "Ebola goes airborne" mutation. Maybe the mutation is just a bunch of junk nucleotides that don't do anything in the end. We shall see fairly soon. Maybe Outbreak could be a reality.

Ebola Strikes America: Bad Immigation/Refugee Policies To Blame

By Patrick Cleburne on October
1, 2014, 8:50 pm

At this point it seems inevitable that America is going to have an Ebola experience on some scale. The Democrat-MSM complex is already moving to anathematize any discussion of the policy implications [Conservative Media Rush To Politicize First Case Of Ebola In U.S. by Alexandrea Boghun, MediaMatters, October 1, 2014] while the Conservatism Inc. outlets as far as I can see and notwithstanding the above are studiously confining themselves to medical and news-timing details.

So VDARE.com gets to state the key fact: America is at risk because of foolish and irresponsible immigration and refugee policies. If these were not so faulty, this risk would not be significant.

I commend for following this issue the marvelously industrious Refugee Resettlement Watch site.

Dallas Ebola Patient Was Another Visa Mistake

The president and his immigration agencies have the authority and the responsibility to deny admission to any alien that has (or cannot establish to the government's satisfaction that he or she doesn't have) a communicable disease of public health significance, such as ebola. In the midst of this severe outbreak, the government should be setting up more robust screening protocols. Reportedly, travelers to the United States are simply being questioned about their contact with infected people and are checked for a fever. In contrast, three African countries (Namibia, Kenya, and Zambia) have banned travelers from the countries that are experiencing the outbreak (Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea).

In July, a member of Congress sent a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson suggesting that we bar entry to any foreign travelers who have visited the three Ebola-stricken countries within 90 days of seeking entry to the United States.

But, as with the threat from terrorism and from foreign criminal cartels, the Obama administration seems reluctant to use immigration controls even to protect the homeland.

A lot of people are getting nervous and some ae probably panicky, but it is all about "if".

No one will know anything for a week or two.  If none or only one or two of the 100 people he came in contact with catch it, then maybe it is not quite as catchy as one would think and may be contained.

The stress of being scared of something most of us know very little about probably doesn't do much to help our immune system in case a person should get it.  That is only a personal opinion.

Paul Harvey warned about this in the 1980s, he would list diseases that we had ERADICATED and then they were back, and he pointed out immigration as the reason. Then he went on to list NEW diseases that had NEVER, before been in America, he said they, also, were due to immigration from the third world: Africa, Asia, Latin America.
He was perhaps the most popular radio newsman in America, aired on ABC. He warned but people were too busy with televitz and consumerism to pay attention. Now the Grim Reaper is nearing the White Christians of the USSA, and it is by DESIGN .

No better viral expert in the world. Listen to him! "

Viruses like Ebola are notoriously sloppy in replicating, meaning the virus entering one person may be genetically different from the virus entering the next. The current Ebola virus’s hyper-evolution is unprecedented; there has been more human-to-human transmission in the past four months than most likely occurred in the last 500 to 1,000 years. Each new infection represents trillions of throws of the genetic dice.

If certain mutations occurred, it would mean that just breathing would put one at risk of contracting Ebola. Infections could spread quickly to every part of the globe, as the H1N1 influenza virus did in 2009, after its birth in Mexico." " Michael T. Osterholm – director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota – wrote in the New York Times last month:"

By any definition used by the sheeple Ebola is transmittable via the air.  Being sneezed upon by an infected person is plenty enough exposure.  Being in the same plane when they sneeze, and what about droplets left behind on surfaces?  I admit the latter is not clear, but the former even the most educated doctor should be able to understand.

I admit, as of right now we are fairly safe with Ebola. But this can go south fast. And, how come over 100 health care workers in Africa wearing full protective gear got Ebola!?

Well, the facts are pretty clear now-  he was massively exposed to ebola 4 days before he boarded the plane to Dallas.  He had body contacy with a housemate who died hours later, as did 3 other housemates.  He knew he had Ebola, and he came to America.   He did it to survive. He put others at risk.   The point is, there are no safegaurds, and more people will do this.

It is beyond sickt that our society has sunk to a point where the head of the CDC can say this is absolutely contained, while quarantining 100 people.   I am a Dr, and I can flat out say they have no clue at what point this is infectious.   Based on what data or logic?   These are viral particles, and they do not simply turn on like a lightswitch - there is a contunuum from not inefctive to infective, but it clearly doesnt solely depend on the patient showing symptoms-  only an idiot would believe that.  There will be a distribution, as with all events- some people will be infective bfore they show symptoms- to think otherwise represents total lack of education.   Why have so many healthcare workers died, while taking normal precautions?   Well, becasue it IS more infective than they are saying.

Though experiment:   if you were a hundred percent sure that a person with ebola is NOT infective until they are symptomatic- then why quarantine them- why not wait until they show symptoms?   Obviuosly, there isnt such a fine line.  If the head of CDC is so confident, why doesnt he go the Duncan house in dallas and have dinner with the family that isnt showing symptoms yet?

The saddest thing about our society is the normalcy of lying.  These assholes are lying- and we all know it.    What the fuck is happenign that they have quarantined the family to the apartment, but have not cleaned up all the sheets and towels that Duncan was using?  You have 8 people locked in an apartment with contamination everyehere!      There is something very very wrong going on.

Probably the best thing to do would be throwing everything at it ASAP to keep if from geographically spreading in Africa.  And maybe even locking down the areas of Africa down where the virus exists.

If there was any genuine interest in stopping it, this would have been done 9 months ago!  No this entire region is being used as a laboratory to A)test out the newest biological weapon and B)next test out the possible treatments and vaccines that will generate billions.  But the US and international health agencies are not this incompetent.  Never before has it taken more than a few days for the CDC or WHO to put teams on site when there's been an Ebola breakout.  Why the "slow walk" on the response this time?

Why is this outbreak so deadly compared to prior outbreaks?  Because it doesn't burn as "hot" and its mortality rate is lower allowing for much higher transmissibility.  This strain is exceptionally hard to kill because it won't burn itslf out like all the others have.  That characteristic has been known for months.  So why haven't the major health organizations spooled up massively before now?  It can't be that they don't recognize the threat -- even they aren't that blind or stupid!

What's the agenda? Every solution path I follow leads to some very dark places...

I guess it is obvious that most of us on this board will never be able to determine if the government is acting incompetently- simply to protect economy and November elections, or if there is a deeper agenda. We will simply not know.
We can also second guess the moves they are making, or not making, for the next few weeks. The take home message is the experts, one week ago, we're saying that it is extremely lug likely that Ebola would be imported here. These same people, now that it has arrived, less than a week later, are now saying this was to be expected, and it can be contained.
There is absolutely no reason to believe these people. So do not.
It boils down to the fact that, if you wait for official guidance on this, it will be too late, and you will be exposed, and unable to travel.
To me, this means that, at a certain point, where it is obvious that it is spreading in US population, that each if us stop and decide ourselves how much risk of exposure we can allow
This will be different for people living in blocks of west African émigrés in Brooklyn, compared to people in Fargo.
How do you increase your survivability? Well, places that are not best major air hubs- northern Alaska? It would be worth figuring out places in US that are furthest from, airports, and on the way to nowhere. Not saying you need to move there, but worth thinking about.
The other half of me says fuck it. If this thing is spreading, I am going to vegas and immersing myself in Peruvian blow and Ukranian hookers. It is 50 50 at this juncture.

There are other "tells" in terms of their verisimilitude, but you spelled out somethings I could not have possibly thought of ([maybe I am an idiot?] how much is too much virus, I thought it was digital so to speak, not context dependent analog).

It may be you don't know when they go symptomatic, so it is best to have them out of circulation once you know they have it.

But the people locked up where he sweat and vomited and pooped, and I never heard of a decontamination team going in there to take care of it, you are incubating those people in Ebola, good fucking God! Tell me the medical teams are not that dumb. The deal really is that it is NO ONE'S JOB, as in, it's not their work description to think of that or make it happen. It means no one is in charge, there is no chain of command, no set of routines, and no accountability. Piecemeal, haphazard, doing it on the fly. No imagination either.

One infant contracted Ebola back in March (7 months ago). That was patient 0. According to WHO over 7,000 are infected across multiple countries, and now continents (and those numbers are cited as under-reported by reputable virologists and scientists by some estimates as much as 5x). By January the worst case estimates are that over 1.2 million will be infected.

Now keep in mind in West Africa the mode of transportation for many is by foot. So you can argue the spread of Ebola there could actually be a lot slower compared to a society that uses cars, buses, planes, and trains.

Ebola is a highly contagious infectious disease that causes bleeding of the eyes, nose, mouth, and rectum. It causes bloody diarrhea and bloody vomiting and towards the later stages effectively renders you a zombie. Pretty much the most horrific way to die. It's mortality rate is 90%.

This ONE man was not only symptomatic for several days but had direct contact with 100 people (that we know of) and how many of those 100 people had contact with others? And you want to talk about our 1st world healthcare system whom sent this man home after showing up at the hospital exhibiting symptoms of Ebola and having stated that he recently returned from Liberia (the country most afflicted by the outbreak).

If you think this is not a big deal and people are fear-mongering than you are a stupid inbred cunt and you should go to the hospital where Mr. Duncan is and shake his hand.

Keep your head in the sand asswipe.

b Initially , the global trade system will collapse . Decreased population leads to decreased demand . Highly automated production systems are little affected . Massive deflation results . The cost of labour (especially in the highest mortality low-skilled labour brackets ) rockets (like in Black death) .

Nation-States collapse , as they are perceived as not keeping the intrinsic contract of protection and not starving their people regardless of the level of taxation. It is a massive tax-revolt .
It is analogous to the anti-church movement that swept Europe after the Black Death . The Church did not keep it’s part of the bargain and the populace voted with their feet(and pockets) . In general , surviving people all over will feel very , very pissed-off and betrayed .

Betrayed by Science , Church and Leaders . A deep revulsion against anything Big , Scientific or For Your Own Good . Small-scale warfare will become endemic , with the present trend to condottieri accellerating sharply ."

Carry a good spade .

Godd luck .

Obama is guilty of misfeasance and malfeasance in office. He is a criminal.

In addition, he is committing second-degree murder under cover of law on everyone who dies from these diseases his reckless policies allowed into the country - Yes, he is guilty of Second Degree Murder: death by reckless indifference to life.

We have reached the point where we tell the Black Racists who support him to go to He11. We tell the Hispanic Racists, the Gay Mafia, the Obamabots, the MSM, the Hollywood celebrities, and any dumba$$ federal cops who defend him to do the same.

We show up at our congressional delegations Town Hals - and their offices in their districts and if we have to - we sit in until the pressure can't be resisted.

If they can mobilize in Hong Kong - we can mobilize to save our lives, the lives of our children, grandchildren, extended family, and the rest of humanity in America.

This transcends politics - this is a genuine life or death crisis. Obama must be removed from office because he is insane - literally - with desire to import all the illegals he can get over the border and use them to open the door to Death in America.

Obama must go. He is aiding and abetting mass homicide in America through insane policies concerning an open invasion of illegals carrying not just this, but God knows what other diseases.

Black Racists, Hispanic Racists (especially the ultra-racist La Raza), gay heterophobic hate-speakers, MSM propagandists, political hacks, air-for-brains cops, kiss-up military flag officers . . . it's over for Obama. Move out of the way, or watch society overwhelm you.

Get rid of him peacefully, or be prepared to see America erupt into a blazing fire of violence against *you* for trying to keep him around.
