Tokyo Electric Power Co. has warned its stricken Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant could be hit by tsunami as high as 26.3 meters.

The deluge would likely cause seawater to mingle with the radiation-tainted water accumulating in the basements of the reactor buildings at the six-unit plant, allowing 100 trillion becquerels of cesium to escape, according to an estimate that Tepco revealed Friday at a meeting of the Nuclear Regulation Authority.

100 trillion becquerels... is that a lot of anything these days? I can't tell anymore!

Couple of little BOTECs for your enlightenment . .

Back in 2011, when Fuku blew up, someone, I can't remember who, did a BOTEC, and I don't have enough information to re-create it, but based on the nameplate and the length of time Fukusima Daiichi was in service, and assuming that all the radwaste is stored on-premises, someone calculated that there would be two metric tons of Cs-137 in the hundreds of tons of spent fuel rods. Seemed like a reasonable calculation.

The other BOTEC I did myself, based on info from Wikipedia, is that 137Cs produces 438,547,589,200 Bq per milliequivalent. Therefore, 100 trillion Bq of 137CsCl would weigh 39 grams.

Fukushima has a whole lot more terabequerels where those came from. And it looks like Japan intends to flush them all into the Pacific, whether you like it or not.

The real question is "What could go right?". If we had our ideal scenario, exactly how would it play out from now? As I point out to others who tout the old cannard of "stability" we could have that by supporting ISIS. They will probably chop off enough heads to set up a dictatorship similar to Assad or the late Saddam. We could support Assad similarly.

I suspect we have no end game. We just dislike this group or that group this season. Next season it might change.

UAE is only mad at Biden because he left out the part about the CIA directing the whole ISIS funding thing.  Speaking of which, doesn't it just say it all that Biden calls a UAE Prince to apologize?   As usual, the U.S. has no problem dealing with and blatantly kissing ass to Kingdoms that have lots of oil, while simultaneously bombing others to advance "democracy."  There is so much cognitive dissonance in literally every MSM news story that it makes your head spin if you even begin to pay attenion.

Bidens on some sorta "Follow them to the gates of hell!" rhetorical jihad or sumpin. Looks like he pissed off the Turk prez too:

"Biden called Erdogan to clarify recent comments made at Harvard University, according to the statement. "The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of Turkey and the United States working closely together to confront ISIL," it added.

Earlier, Erdo?an had demanded an apology from Biden. "If Biden said these words, then he will be history for me. I never uttered such remarks," he said after the morning prayer for Eid al-Adha - the festival of sacrifice observed by Muslims all over the world - in Istanbul early Oct. 4.

President Erdogan told me, he is an old friend, said you were right, we let too many people through, now we are trying to seal the border," Biden had said during a speech on foreign policy at Harvard Kennedy School on Oct. 2, while complaining about the conduct of his country's regional allies that led to the rise of the ISIL.

However, the Turkish president vehemently denied these claims. "I was prime minister at the time. We absolutely didn't provide even the smallest amount of support to any terrorist organization, including the ISIL. Nobody can prove it. Foreign fighters never crossed from Turkey to Syria. There were people coming to Turkey as tourists and went to Syria, but nobody can suggest that they were armed while crossing the border," Erdo?an said."

Erdogan is a street-smart political animal, whereas Biden is a suck-pump from incorporate-fantasyland... where he and his family are imperial corporalist boot-lickers!

Erdogan is pissed (disillusioned) at Egypt over the (MB) muslim-brotherhood disbandment/ dissolution, whom by the way are`not strict practioners of sharia-law as the west would have us (proletariet?) believe.

Interestingly, Qatar is pissed at Egypt's Sisi, and the Saudi's (Shiekh Bandar?) for what they feel are/ have been [in]directly responsible for the disposing of the MB with the USSA's help and funding of ISIS via Jordan and Israel?

It is no secret that Erdogan will destroy the Kurd's (Syrian & Turkish/Iraq) and Assad regime[s] given the chance to finnish them off for good. The Iraqi's could care less if Erdogan did their dirty work for them. ISIS wants the Levant (basically between Egypt and Turkey) and to restore the Caliph.

Erdogan is a Sunni-Muslim... a hard-core muslim as he has finally shown his hand to the world. The Alawites of Syria are Shi`ite offshoot, but none the less shiite with a very small minority controlling an all-ful? lot of sunni-muslims.  Iraqi's are all sunni in the west. But, the Turk's and Persian's aren't Arab's which confuses the matter somehow, but? both are Islam?

Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation (GCC)Council/ UAE etc., will finance the end of Assad's regime, even if Qatar doesn't get it's nat-gas`line franchise?!? But, France has Algeria, and the British have access to USSA's via LNG.

Fuck the EU wasn't far-off the mark, when after WWII, it took just twenty years for the USSA to get complete control of the ME oil, with England, France, Japan, Dutch, and Germany?, were relegated to the scanty leftovers.

So, this is USSA's fight in unison with Saudi Arabia for the Kingdom's survival and america's hegemony petro$$$. Russia and China will not let this stand-- think Poppy-Bush #41 & #43 regarding Iraqi's Kuwait??? (all that's left for the Queen? beehive[?]

[???]Think Cyprus and Greece financial problems and their geography! Look at how valuable Erdogan's 'Turkey' geography is to world powers. The Black Sea dumps into the Bosphorus Strait that dumps into the Marmara Sea into the Dardanelles (channel?) strait into the Aegean Sea straight into the Mediterranean Sea, directly... smack-n-the-middle of Greece and Cyprus owned by the EU/CB's. But what's scary is the only way out is via the Suez Canal owned by Egypt into the Red Sea/ Arabia Sea dumping into the Indian Ocean? Or the long way home via the Strait of Morocco-- ,another Arab muslim country (summer home) of Shiekh Bandar?!?, dumping into the Atlantic Ocean.

Now, if I were Russia I would be very concerned as to what's going on in Erdogan's head?

The Russian's could care less about SA, but China does?, and if China wants either Persian Oil/Natgas or Iraqi (Kirkuk/Mosul Oil) or the mother load of SE & Basra oil!) it's going to put the squeeze on an exposed 'blind-spot' with multiple nuclear warheads fix'd directly overhead with multiple personalities? So, does a pinhead Biden... this asswipe VP`someone'nobody get caught, 'between-a-rock-and-a-hard-place'?, or does BandarBush meet his maker, or... does Assad get into the exile'mode, or ISIS just melds into the landscape til next spring and the ME falls into a 'Big'Sleep' whilst waiting to spring Isarel into it's ultimate trap via Jordan/Lebanon???

With Obama stuck in Congress with a limp dick?, going into January/ 2015 an old-man that never knew the truther's agnostic meaning of, 'Hope & Change'...

The thing is that it's been so obvious... A few months back "Horsehead" renegotiates the "Iranian sanctions" deal, and his own HERD was up in arms over the "pussified agreement".

Now we know know what the "underlying terms" of the deal was/were. Let the "United States of Destabilization" insert a puppet faction, and they will be primarily Sunni. This puppet militia will take out the Kurds and southern Syria, with full funding and hardware from the CIAduh.

The Shi'a Iranians( Iran is 89% Shi'a) will eventually clash with the Sunni insurgency after initially helping them, and liquidate each<>other, Thereby opening pipeline routes.

 The level of decision making in the various intelligence (ABC's) of the United States is at Kindergarten level. { at best}

 Breaking Assad

Sun, 10/05/2014 - 23:03 | 5292986 AdvancingTime
AdvancingTime's picture

Just over a year ago I wrote an article advocating the only and most likely solution for Syria would be to break the country into two parts.  If Assad remains in power those who have suffered and been displaced will never forgive him and live under his rule. A change in ruling factions is also not a viable solution in that it would probably unleash a wave of killings, and reprisals.

Remember the Shiite-related Alawites rightly fear an Al Qaeda led triumph as the worst possible outcome, they would make the mass killing of Alawites their first priority. The secular leaders of the Syrian rebels, clustered in the exile group known as the Syrian National Council, also must worry about the extremist threat they themselves would face if the Assad government fell. It all appeared a massively ugly mess and little has changed. More on why I finally came to this solution and why it still remains the best option in the article below.
