Second Dallas Patient Exhibiting Ebola Symptoms - Live Feed

Tyler Durden's picture

Following the sad death of Thomas Duncan this morning, CBS is now reporting that a possible second case of Ebola has been discovered in a suburb of Dallas:

  • *DALLAS AREA PATIENT SHOWS EBOLA SYMPTOMS: CBS

The patient claims to have had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, referred to as Dallas ‘patient zero.’

Live Feed (via CBS Local)

CBS Dallas Live Stream

As CBS reports,

An afternoon news conference has been called in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, to discuss a possible second case of Ebola.

The patient claims to have had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, referred to as Dallas ‘patient zero.’

It is not clear how the patient had contact with Duncan or if the patient was one of the about 50 people being monitored by state and local health officials.

The call came in shortly after noon from Care Now, 301 Main Street, where the patient was “exhibiting signs and symptoms of Ebola.”

The patient is being transported to a nearby hospital by Frisco firefighter-paramedics.

First responders are also examining clinical staff and other patients.  It is unknown how many other people may have been exposed to the patient.

I hope the Dallas County judge and the HHS directors realize how stupid they were to be so careless themselves in entering that apartment and dealing with the family.

"The patient was identified as Sgt. Michael Monning, a deputy who accompanied county health officials Zachary Thompson and Christopher Perkins into the apartment where Thomas Eric Duncan stayed in Dallas.

The deputy was ordered to go inside the unit with officials to get a quarantine order signed. No one who went inside the unit that day wore protective gear."

The picture above of two guys in protective gear standing next to other emergency workers not in protective gear.... reminds me of some dumb 1950s movie.

Like in the 1950s sheriffs trying to hand disease without training or suits to protect themselves.

He would have been in direct contact with Duncan's body fluids by virtue of stepping inside that apartment, right?. So the only question is how long the virus can live in the body fluids after they have escaped the Ebola patient.

These idiots at Dallas County should have erred on the side of caution. The judge bragged at a press conference that he hadn't changed his shirt from the night before after having been in Duncan's apartment and riding in a car with the family members.

Someone filed a child endangerment complaint against the judge with CPS for having possibly exposed his own daughter to the virus as a result of his reckless behavior.

Ebola doesn't have to be airborne to kill us all with these dumbasses in charge of containment!

Make sure & give your regards to the corrupt media in this country for allowing a criminally insane maniac to usurp our white house. They didn't think it was important to vet the unknown Barry Soetoro.

They sold their souls to the devil for the man they claimed could walk on water. Have to imagine, Obama has promised to save them & their families from a painful ebola death. Ha!!

The media could have changed the election if they had done their damn job. You can blame half of this country but what's the use. Most people in this country don't have enough sense to get out of the damn rain. Well done America, well done!

And yet.... "American doctor exposed to Ebola allowed home  Washington (AFP) - An American physician who was hospitalized in the United States after being exposed to the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone was allowed home Tuesday, health officials said. AFP"

Worse, "Five airports across the United States will start screening passengers arriving from Ebola-affected countries in West Africa, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said during his daily briefing on Wednesday. Earnest said that as passenger enter the country, their temperature will be taken to make sure they are not exhibiting symptoms of Ebola. "We believe these new measures will further protect the health of Americans, understanding that nothing we can do will get us to absolute zero risk until we end the Ebola epidemic in West Africa," CDC Director Tom Frieden said in a statement."

Instead of banning flights from West Africa and from airports where West African flights land in other countries?

Dallas? We have a problem.
http://dfw.cbslocal.com/?lead=frisco-patient-exhibiting-ebola-symptoms
FRISCO (CSBDFW.COM) - First responders have transported a Dallas County Sheriff’s deputy to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital to be monitored as a possible second case of Ebola.

The patient, Michael Monnig, was transported from a Frisco Care Now facility where he was complaining of “stomach issues,” according to sources.

According to CBS 11’s Andrea Lucia, Monnig’s children said he woke up this morning feeling sore and a little nauseated. He went to clinic as a precaution.

“We were told by federal officials, county officials that you would have to come in direct contact with Duncan or direct contact with bodily fluids, and he did not,” said Monnig’s son, Logan about the possibility of his dad contracting Ebola.

Monning was not one of the 48 people being monitored by federal, state and local health officials because he never had direct contact with the patient. Monnig did enter the apartment where Duncan stayed after Duncan had been admitted to the hospital.

Only 150 people a day plane in on any given day from West Africa. Think there are any folks here in the states by now that are hiding in their apt, shitting, puking and bleeding all over the place? I am pretty sure of it. They were afraid to go to the hospital, afraid of contaminating others, afraid of dying. But not too afraid to fly here to die. First they infect others...

Irrational thinking is actually a symptom.  At least that is what I read from a Marburg survivor anyway.  She kept going to work even though she was damn near dead and having debilitating migraines.  She said she couldn't think straight at all and doesnt remember a lot.  She got it from a cave full of bat shit in Africa... took them forever to figure out what was wrong with her.  Actually they never figured it out, she did.

Thanks guys! I may just be the most thumbs-down poster ever! But that doesn't change the fact that you are a bunch of morons! Go obsess over something that has a higher likelihood of killing you, like choking on your own vomit, or maybe choking on semen from the guy you just blew. Seriously, I can't believe that only one person has died over this and y'all are talking about it like it was polio or something. And as if it is going airborne, come on. It's like you have no understanding of microbiology... Now sure, it's all possible that the government is using ebola to develop some bioweapon super-strain, but this ain't it. This is a classic case of a viral infection spread by direct contact or airborn droplets (you know, from, like sneezing? Like how the cold and flu are spread?) which is spreading as a result of that. If it gets too prevalent here then I'm sure everyone like y'all will go hysterical, wear their surgical gloves and masks, and voila, problem solved.

We aren't all extremists. Just mostly highly intelligent rational people.

When it comes to death or bankrupt it's better to be safe than sorry.

If we find out this Deputy is confirmed positive it will instantly change everything about what they think about how ebola is transmitted.

It doesn't make any sense to me that the outbreak would be so big in Africa when people know it's going around. These people also aren't stupid. While they may be poor. They aren't stupid.

There is already something going around South Florida, the first weak flu of the year, I know a few people got a little sick with flu symptoms for a day or so (Myself included) then got better really fast.  I can only imagine that normal weak flu is going to really cause a huge disruption in the Ebola efforts once the season really kicks off. Tons of news reports, tons of false-positives.

Think for a second the panic that would occur, if the 50 people being watched, came down with even this weak seasonal flu?

Yeah I was also thinking of the flu being in Texas right now where it's a bit warmer. It's possible. I also got something when travelling to UK and I'm in PA. If I had Ebola I would already be dead.

But your right the quarenteen aspect will be huge and is severely underestimated.

Now... think for a moment about someone infected with ebola and the flu or a cold at the same time.  The cold or flu creating a respiratory condition that sends droplets flying in every direction: droplets containing ebola with the capacity to infect others with both ebola and the flu, creating more and more super carriers of ebola.

Lethal experimental infections of rhesus monkeys by aerosolized Ebola virus.

Int J Exp Pathol. 1995 Aug;76(4):227-36.

Johnson E1, Jaax NWhite JJahrling P.

1 US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Frederick, Maryland 21702-5011, USA.

ABSTRACT
The potential of aerogenic infection by Ebola virus was established by using a head-only exposure aerosol system. Virus-containing droplets of 0.8-1.2 microns were generated and administered into the respiratory tract of rhesus monkeys via inhalation. Inhalation of viral doses as low as 400 plaque-forming units of virus caused a rapidly fatal disease in 4-5 days. The illness was clinically identical to that reported for parenteral virus inoculation, except for the occurrence of subcutaneous and venipuncture site bleeding and serosanguineous nasal discharge. Immunocytochemistry revealed cell-associated Ebola virus antigens present in airway epithelium, alveolar pneumocytes, and macrophages in the lung and pulmonary lymph nodes; extracellular antigen was present on mucosal surfaces of the nose, oropharynx and airways. Aggregates of characteristic filamentous virus were present within type I pneumocytes, macrophages, and air spaces of the lung by electron microscopy. Demonstration of fatal aerosol transmission of this virus in monkeys reinforces the importance of taking appropriate precautions to prevent its potential aerosol transmission to humans.

If this is indeed the same disease - genetic structure that is now infecting humans, this research indicates that it binds, can be absorbed into the body, and is infectious in the nose.  That means a whiff of this thing, not just a deeply inhaled droplet, but just a whiff is likely to cause infection.  This explains a lot actually.  This explains why the disease is spreading so rapidly through Africa and why the health-care workers there are getting infected despite great vigilance.

Now we may get to see how the "greatest health-care system in the world" deals with the most lethal virus in history.  I would observe that the "greatest health-care system in the world" is also obscenely expensive, even moreso now after Obamacare.  This disease will bankrupt the U.S. healthcare system in 12 months- the whole system.  I worked on the business side of healthcare in the U.S.   I know whereof I speak.

I can thinkof a few possible explanations:

1) a man from an r-type population who knows he is dying will try to have sex with as many women as possible before he dies - prostitutes and rape included (a lot of AIDS carriers did that)

2) people with relatively high levels of resistance may not show symptoms early

3) in the dark no one can see your eyes bleeding

I could probably think of a few more given time.
