Second Dallas Patient Exhibiting Ebola Symptoms - Live Feed
Following the sad death of Thomas Duncan this morning, CBS is now reporting that a possible second case of Ebola has been discovered in a suburb of Dallas:

An afternoon news conference has been called in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, to discuss a possible second case of Ebola.
The patient claims to have had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, referred to as Dallas ‘patient zero.’
It is not clear how the patient had contact with Duncan or if the patient was one of the about 50 people being monitored by state and local health officials.
The call came in shortly after noon from Care Now, 301 Main Street, where the patient was “exhibiting signs and symptoms of Ebola.”
The patient is being transported to a nearby hospital by Frisco firefighter-paramedics.
First responders are also examining clinical staff and other patients. It is unknown how many other people may have been exposed to the patient.

Aggregates of characteristic filamentous virus were present within type I pneumocytes, macrophages, and air spaces of the lung by electron microscopy. Demonstration of fatal aerosol transmission of this virus in monkeys reinforces the importance of taking appropriate precautions to prevent its potential aerosol transmission to humans.
The NBC cameraman believes he contracted Ebola by coming in contact with a taxi which transported an Ebola victim. Historically, Ebola has been handled in the U.S. by level 4 facilities; and the design of level 4 biocontainment facilities reveals that that Ebola has been regarded by experts as a pathogen which poses a life threatening risk in anything less than a negative atmosphere environment with fully sealed hazmat suits and the most rigorous containment protocols.
Therefore, the assurances from the CDC and Texas public health officials are completely inconsistent with the established science by previous researchers.
In the book "The Hot Zone", which is the definitive account of the history of Ebola research pre- 1993, the author discovered that the top Ebola experts around the world were unanimously terrified by this virus more than any other...some even said that they would work in labs with any virus...except Ebola.
I think they're playing to see which storyline gets the most votes--the "Had contact with Eric Duncan" or the "Was recently in Nigeria." My money's on the Eric Duncan thing--some incidental how did that happen contact to step up the fear mongering like that nurse in Spain.

Interesting "journalistic" addendum by Mr. Narrator, though obviously I was not there. Perhaps he was vomiting blood. All I know is that we're talking about a region in which an estimated 600,000 people a YEAR die from malaria alone. Please note that none of the above symptoms include "bleeding out your fucking ass, eyeballs, titties, and puking copious amounts of blood," the tell-tale sign of ebola and the only symptoms not visible in any account of the infected thus far. If, in a few months, the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area is crawling with people bleeding out their eyeballs, I'll know my skepticism was unwarranted. But from where I sit right now, my bullshit detector is flashing. Call me crazy, but I don't think we're dealing with ebola here.
A couple things.
1) the most recent types of evola only result in final-stage hemorrhaging in 40-50% of cases and dramatic hemorrhaging in an even fewer number of cases. The hemorrhage is the result of an immune system overreaction to a virus that it cannot properly target and kill- a virus that is attacking the very systems that the immune system uses to identify pathogens.
2) This disease, in a dramatic final stage host, is highly, highly contagious. Who in their right mind is going to go in and film this?
3) Doctors without Borders is in Liberia in force. They are some of the best, most highly motivated, professional medical people in the world. Do you really think they are incapable of diagnosing ebola or distinguishing it from malaria? Do you really think they are involved in some sort of international conspiracy?
Come on... everything is not some "conspiracy" or form of propaganda. It is what it is... an outbreak of, probably, the most dangerous virus on earth.

I'm familiar with Plasmodium Vivax (the malaria with the lower CFR) and the dibilitating symptoms come every other day. That "moderate to severe shaking chills"? The English language does not have a word for what that is. "Chills" doesn't say what that is.
With malaria, if you have access to meds you're, almost immediately, symptom free. You still have the Plasmodium but malaria is easily treatable in first world countries. Dallas does not have malaria.
As far as I know, Malaria is not contagious from person to person but it can be transferred via the female Anopheles mosquito when it bites one person and then another.

Americans ignored Ebola while thousands of people died in Africa, now that one person gets sick in America it has become an "Oh My God" moment. This virus has worked overtime to pick up "critical mass." I'm referring to the point where enough people are infected with the virus that it can sustain a chain reaction and expand out of control.

I think people are unaware of how this disease is tramsitted exponentially. IF they do, they will not be taking care of patient #0 the way they did. The incubation period of ebola is 21 days. That is, at around 21 days the symtom shows. However, the patient is carrying the virus inside and shed virus during those 21 days. HE INFECTS PEOPLE DURING THOSE 21 DAYS EVEN WHEN HE IS SYMTOMLESS.
