America's First Ebola Patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, Has Died

Tyler Durden's picture

The first US Ebola patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, who was treated in Texas, has just died:

  • TEXAS HEALTH REPORTS DEATH OF EBOLA PATIENT THOMAS ERIC DUNCAN

And while we await the inevitable CDC press conference to follow, the stock of CMRX, whose medicine was being used to treat him, is plunging.

As Bloomberg reports,

Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S., died from the virus while in isolation at a Dallas hospital.

Duncan was diagnosed with the disease on Sept. 30 after contracting it in his native Liberia, where Ebola has infected about 7,500 people, killing half. He had come to the country to marry his girlfriend, Louise Troh, who is now being quarantined and has not yet shown symptoms of the disease.

"It is with profound sadness and heartfelt disappointment that we must inform you of the death of Thomas Eric Duncan this morning at 7:51 am,” Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital said in a statement today.

Some more from Bloomberg:

Duncan was in serious condition until Saturday, when his kidneys failed and he was put on dialysis. That afternoon he received the experimental drug brincidofovor, made by Durham, North Carolina-based Chimerix Inc (CMRX), according to statements from the hospital, which has declined to say if the patient received any other experimental treatment.

Duncan was also receiving oxygen on a ventilator and medication to stave off infection, according to the hospital.

A nephew, Josephus Weeks, said earlier today that Duncan did not receive any serum from Ebola survivors, a treatment given other survivors. Kent Brantly, a U.S. doctor who recovered after being infected, has donated serum to at least two other patients.

Asked in a text-message interview if the family thinks blood serum derived from disease survivors should have been used, Weeks said, “We begged and pleaded several times. They said it’s too late in his treatment. They didn’t try any other options but saline, oxygen and water.”

So the lawsuits are coming.

In any event, one can only hope he is the last Ebola casualty on US soil. Unfortunately, when the best plan the "smartest and brightest" in the room can come up with is to take the temperature of West Africa travelers, he won't be.

Darker skin means less vitamin D is created by the body.  Now the fair skinned Americans who survived got a lot of sunlight exposure in the tropics and likely had high vitamin D levels.  Immune system.

Yeah just wait, because nobody can distinguish early ebola syptoms from any of about a dozen other common viral syndromes on initial presentation.  These types of complaints likely represent 20% of ER visits.  What are you going to do? Isolate all of them?  This is where Frieden's and Fauci's medical wonderland theory of "it can't happen here" completely breaks down.  That along with our increased travel and contact.  Pray to god we shut this virus down with a West Africa no fly zone and heavy border patrols, because if it gets loose in the US, it isn't going to be easy to irradicate without draconian measures that would turn the economy completely upside down.

Amazingly, the CDC owns “the” patent on Ebola and all future strains.

The “SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION” section of the patent document also clearly claims that the U.S. government is claiming “ownership” over all Ebola viruses that share as little as 70% similarity with the Ebola it “invented”:

Why would a government organization claim to have “invented” this infectious disease and then claim a monopoly over its exploitation for commercial use? It is clear that the CDC plans to claim royalties on Ebola vaccines. This certainly increases the likelihood that the vaccines will become mandatory, thus increasing the profit potential for the patent holders.

Clearly, Ebola is manmade and this patent proves this contention. Why does the CDC need to own the patent on Ebola? Perhaps, we should ask Bill Gates why he is donating $50 million to the UN and the CDC in the name of fighting Ebola (see video below). The CDC has partners in the fight against Ebola, namely, Crucell, the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) and, of course, Bill and Melinda Gates.

Do you understand how much we are being lied to by the media on this topic? The work on an Ebola virus, sanctioned by the holder of the patent for the vaccine, the NIH), has been ongoing since 2004 with clinical trials in 2006. This explains why the CDC and the NIH are bringing Ebola patients into the country to treat. The moment that an Ebola patient crosses the U.S. border, they become the intellectual property of the CDC, NIH and Bill and Melinda Gates! How can we not believe that this is the Hegelian Dialectic run amok in a case of problem creation, solution to the problem and reaction to the problem?
The involvement of the USAMRIID is noteworthy because the Army has long been rumored to have created Ebola and, for purposes of experimentation, implanted the artificial virus in Zaire in 1977.

When an unsuspecting public is finally told of the existence of an Ebola vaccine, the Global Fund will be in charge of the distribution of the vaccine. Interestingly, Bill Gates has donated a total of $560 million dollars to the Global Fund. The Global Fund has also positioned themselves to be in charge of the distribution of the “newly developed”, and not yet announced vaccines for TB and HIV. Since the goal is the vaccination of every man, woman and child on the planet with multiple vaccines, Gates’ $560 million contribution to the Global Fund is chump change compared to the expected ROI. However, on deck is the Ebola virus.

A population that small (500,000) couldn't maintain the grid, or the pipelines, or the roads, or the SFPs and reactors, or the satellites (which are useless without a grid), or the water utilities or the sewer systems, or the farmlands and food distribution networks, or the airports and hotels.  A true pandemic where any significant percent of the population is affected and removes those skills and workers puts a lot of networked things at risk.

Half billion peeps is the estimated global population in the 16th century.

For what, the USA or the world?

Even just considering 5,000,000 for the USA, imagine being able to do bridge/road repair, snow removal, fire fighting, refinery operation, oil  coal and gas extraction, hospital and health care, education at the grades school, high school, and college levels, all with 1/60th of the current population.  USA is north of 300,000,000 in population now.   Divide by 5,000,000.   You get sixty.  59 out of 60 people go away, and any normalcy after that would be rar.e  Even 6 out of 60  departing gets scary because of networked effects.

I'm hoping for the best and that this thing is contained.  TPTB want to keep the networks that not only benefit them but the rest of us operating in a BAU fahsion.   I hope they get this right.  Because without those networks, even those 0.0001 percenters with super yachts with oil tankers that follow them are in for a rude awakening someday.  At best, they could buy themselves a few decades in some isolated spot of modern luxury.   After a while, a lack of spare parts, and entropy and disorder would level the playing field, even for them and their progenies.  And if all the SFPs ever cook off, species that depend on long gestation and time to maturity might become genetically challenged.

I left out two zeros in the top post. Five hundred million is what it supposedly sez on the Guide stones ... and that is global population, such as existed back in the 16th century.

I am not inclined to spend one minute either visualizing nor speculating upon the viability of such a world. I harbor several reservations concerning the entire Guide stone narrative.

Most people infected show symptoms within 7 days so I would think those that came into contact with him while he was symptomatic before going into the hospital would be testing positive for by now. The ones to watch for now are the care givers, if they were as careless as the Spanish nurse we should be seeing them getting sick at anytime to a week from now. So what do the do with the body? Send it back to Liberia in a sealed coffin or burn him here?
