WHO Shocked At 427 Ebola-Infected Healthcare Workers As Cases Top 9000, Deaths Exceed 4500

Tyler Durden's picture

If trained professionals (in West Africa and the US) are becoming infected by the deadly Ebola virus, what hope is there for fellow passengers in a tightly-packed metal tube? The World Health Organization expects Ebola cases to top 9000 this week and deaths to exceed 4500 as they shockingly note 427 healthcare workers are now infected. The economic impact of Ebola continues to rise as Liberia slashes its GDP estimate and East African nations discuss strategies to stop the spread from the West. In Europe, Germany is sending aid, the Spanish nurse is stable but Madrid airport activated emergency measures due to a suspected Ebola passenger. US screening restrictions increase as Yale New Haven Hospital is dealing with a patient with Ebole-like symptoms. Politicians begin debating travel bans as Dallas is expected to approve a "state of disaster" today. Contained?

First the shocking news:

  • *EBOLA CASES TO EXCEED 9,000 IN W. AFRIA THIS WEEK, WHO SAYS
  • *EBOLA DEATHS TO EXCEED 4,500 IN W. AFRICA THIS WEEK, WHO SAYS
  • *427 HEALTH-CARE WORKERS INFECTED WITH EBOLA, WHO'S NUTTALL SAYS

Across Europe...

Officials claim the Spanish Ebola nurse is 'stable' and 68 low-risk people are being monitored (via Bloomberg)

Of 68 “low-risk” people being monitored for ebola infection in Spain, one developed low fever this morning, Fernando Simon, coordinator of the center of alerts and emergencies at Spain’s health ministry, says in news conference

  • Person has fever above 37.7 degrees: Simon
  • 15 “high-risk” contacts are still all asymptomatic: Simon
  • Ebola patient Teresa Romero is stable; viral levels are falling, still not negative: Simon

But Madrid airport activated emergency measures... (via Reuters)

Madrid's Barajas international airport activated emergency measures on Thursday after a passenger arriving on an Air France flight was suspected of possibly having Ebola, a spokeswoman for airports operator Aena said.

Spain's health ministry confirmed that an Ebola emergency protocol had been set in motion but declined to give details.

Aena and Air France said in separate statements that a passenger on Air France 1300 from Lagos via Paris had started shaking during the flight. Air France said the other passengers disembarked from the plane, which will now be disinfected. The return flight has been cancelled.

And Germany is sending aid... (via Bloomberg)

Funding boost to raise German emergency aid against Ebola to EU102m ($130m), Christian Democratic Union lawmaker Nobert Barthle says in e-mailed statement.

  • Funding approved by German lower-house budget committee yday
  • Germany also contributing EU700m in long-term aid for African health systems: Barthle

In Africa...

Liberia cuts its GDP estimate... (via FrontPageAfrica)

Economic “growth is expected to be zero percent in 2015,” due to Ebola, contraction in mining activity, agriculture, services, Finance Minister Amara Konneh says in interview with online edition of Monrovia-based newspaper.

Disease “seriously affected economic activities and livelihoods throughout the country with domestic food production, mining activities, hospitality industry, and transport services all declining.”

And East African nations are in full panic mode...

“We have already seen an impact on our economies, regarding reduced tourism flows, flight cancellations,” Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta says at conference in Rwandan capital, Kigali.

  • East African Community is being “proactive to avoid the spread of the virus to EAC countries”
  • 5-nation bloc also looking for ways to help affected countries
  • EAC includes Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi

The US continues to see 'potential' cases arrive... (via WTNH)

A patient is being evaluated at Yale New Haven Hospital at this hour with Ebola-like symptoms, according to a statement from the hospital.

A physicians document obtained by News 8 says, “On Wednesday evening Yale-New Haven Hospital admitted a patient who met the threshold to be monitored for Ebola virus disease(DVD). The Hospital is working with the CDC and Prevention and the State Department of Public Heath to have the patient tested for EVD.”

News 8 Medical Reporter Jocelyn Maminta has talked to a credible source with the hospital who says the patient is one of the Yale Researchers who just returned from a trip to Liberia on Monday. This is one of the same researchers officials decided not to have quarantined after their trip to Africa.

And politicians are pushing for travel bans and visa restrictions...

And Dallas County commissioners are expected to announce a "State of Disaster" today

wut?  this ebola threat allows them to initilize their in place police state for a medical martial law scenario.  with the economic collapse pending, the timing is impeccable.

Howzat?  While medical or other rationalized pretexts for martial law may be the PTB's wet dream, on practical grounds it seems virtually impossible to carry out effectively.

Do a little math:  how many people are there in the US military including reserves and national guard who are actually on US soil.  Of those, how many are actually trigger pullers (as opposed to logistics, back office support, etc.)?  Then, how many hazmat suits are there for said trigger pullers? Will these grunts follow orders, risking personal infection?  Some will certainly, but it could just as easily cut the other way...as in mutiny.

Now contrast those figures w/how many scared, uninformed but well-armed trigger happy ordinary citizens there are.  Man alive, what a cluster F

Since your vocab seems limited I'll expound - someone needs to explain how some of the most qualified health professionals in the world taking the best known precautions came down with this previously containable and manageable virus and ended up dying in droves. Saying that this virus suddenly acquired airborne transmissability, or that the health workers were flat out sloppy with their hazmat suit protocols is a hard sell. I would sooner believe that those Ebola critters grew legs and chased them home, or that they spontaneously synthesized in their bodies. I would MUCH sooner buy the theory that the virus was planted in the drinking water and food of those poor health care responders, based on the bullshit we've seen covert agencies pulling in Ukraine and with ISIS. ANYTHING is possible these days.

Washington Post has a million deaths by January (fatality rate is over 70% now)

Meltzer helped produce a report in late September that said that at current rates of infection, as many as 1.4 million people would become infected by January. That number, officials stressed, was a straight extrapolation of theexplosive spread of Ebola at a time when the world had managed to mount only a feeble response

Do you really believe that Lagos  Nigeria contained it when we, the USA, could not?

Just because it is not reported does not mean that it is not happening there.

They are doing everything that they can to quash the story in the United States.

How is that Nurse's boyfriend doing?

What happened to all of the contacts that Patient Zero, Thomas Duncan, encountered?

If gowned nurses contracted it from him then what makes you think that all of his relatives just escaped becoming infected...without any protective clothing and "protocols"?

What happened to that asshole who washed the puke into the storm drain...creating a resevoir of rats to carry it?

They are doing the very best that they can to quash this story.

HOPEFULLY the Dallas Health Officials are going to be a bit more truthful...today...when exposing the scope and depth of this healthcare disaster.

There will be Tens of millions dead from Ebola by Christmas. Mark my words.

(If there is not then it is a hoax and a sham...which is better news...but still many will be under the auspices of Martial Law as a result anyway...)

A quick follow up to your Lagos reference ... When Ebola showed up in Port Harcourt, I started to follow the locally reported news very closely. To say it had a Bagdad Bob-esque tone would be putting it charitably.

Bottom line is if we all doubt/distrust/disbelieve what our government people are saying, this disease may have already won half the battle.

I'll bet "they" are still shocked that 4 attempts to start a war - Syria 1.0 & 2.0, Ukraine 1.0 & 2.0, planned civil unrest - Ferguson, and planned southern border tension with immigrant children being dumped on people's lawns........that Sandy Hoak didn't get us all to hand over our guns.......NONE OF IT got the desired result and now they have to go all the way back to the tried-and-true "epidemic" chapter in the playbook to bring this bitch down.

Just don't take the goddamn shot if it comes to that. This also could be a beta test, a semi-dry run for a real pandemic down the road. In order for Ebola to really wipe out a large swath of the western world, it has to be airborne. Aerosol is good, airborne better.

The "big three," malaria, dengue fever and yellow fever kill about 1.5 million people every year.
The US government has tried to "weaponize" Ebola for years unsuccessfully. Why? It kills too quickly with very little opportunity for spreading.
What you are most likely seeing in the western world is a few cases of dengue fever. Frankly with the government's track record of lying, I am wondering if there are any real infections at all.
If there are, they are most likely dengue fever.

Dengue fever has similar symptoms, if not the same.

Early this year, I was in Far East and 2 of the guys I was sharing the apartment with got the dengue fever while I was there, and made full recovery thankfully. They were getting blood through their nose, urine and feaces.

I shared the utensils, the apartment ,set next to them, shook hands etc but luckily did not get it.

The only treatment they got was getting some drip and a 24 hour stay in the hospital. Were advised to drink plenty of fluids.

It is dangerous, and scary, but much of it is hype and fear mongering.

If they tell you a PCR tests for Ebola, does that mean the PCR tests for Ebola?  Or that it tests for the virus it was designed to test for?  IE. it can be designed for Dengue fever, but you tell people  a positive means EBOLIE.

MSM is doing what it does best, spreading fear, panic and hysteria. 427 healthcare workers infected so what chance do we have?

Well, an infected man flew from Nigeria to Dallas and no one on the plane got Ebola nor did and of his family or associates.  Two of his termional care nurses did which is strong evidence alone this this is difficult to catch except in its terminal phase.

The DRC has congtained its outbreak with no new cases reported recently.

Well the fear certainly has gone exponential with infecting everyone. But stop and look at the fatalities from this outbreak. 4500?
With it being so uncontained I would have expected a much higher death toll. Either the figures are being completely manipulated or it ain't Ebola.
To put it in perspective just the good folk who caught a slight case of suicide in the last 3 months in the good ol US of A was 7500 deaths( approximation of 2013 suicide toll).
150000 globally lost to malaria , and 500000 given up to influenza.
You don't see much about that on media out there.

Malaria is treatable for the most part and isn't carried by American or European mosquito populations.  You don't need hundreds of thousands getting infected in the U.S., just a few clusters here and there before the population goes full retard.  It's one thing for a few doctors or nurses treating these imported cases, it's another when there are tertiary infections of friends or relatives of the health care  workers.  Then it's "out".   Even at a certain low level, once in the general population I will be changing my beahvior in practical ways.

the West Africa death counts are tremendously understated.  heard from cdc staffer who was on the ground in Liberia in September figures more like 1MM and 80% mortality.  We are hearing "reported" counts.  There are no counts from ravaged rural areas.  The WHO forecast for January (1.3mm infected, up to 1mm deaths) is zero-risk because it has already happened.  The MSM statistics are not worth listening to.  Look how many times the same stats are repeated.... and then, everyone starts chirping a new set together.  4500 deaths!  ROFLMAO!  If it can spread here as easily as it has despite $$$ thrown at it... use your logic... what is it REALLY like in west Africa?  Yup.  It won't be fixed, but eventually it will burn out.

Looks like the TSA will finally get their calling. Strange how that worked out. Lucky for us they were here! ( /sarc for the humorless) Speaking of thin metal tubes. I remember flying back in the 60's while in the service of my country (lol) and flying military standby. Talk about! The aircraft were imaculate, in and out. First class food and service.... first class stewardess's (wow). It was an incredible experience.

Fast forward to the 21st century. Hadn't flown for over 30 years. You can imaging the shock, SHOCK I tell you. The aircraft was filthy, in and out. Inside it stunk of a mens room in a less classy bar. There was no food. They gave me a package of crackers and water after I begged. The steward looked (and smelled) like he just got out of bed and had to use the uniform out of the dirty close hamper. Said I had to prepay for food. Glad I didn't. Assuming it as bad as the rest I would have in all probability got ebola even then. Didn't see a whole lot of difference between first class except you weren't as caged in like cattle class. My third class standby in the 60's was better than first class in the great 21st century.

Yes, we have come a long way baby.

Do you not find it at all ODD that the nations of the West, i.e. the White nations, are accepting Ebola patients, Germany, for example took in at least one Ebola patient who had NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER to Germany. We see the US government AIDING and ABETTING the introduction of Ebola into the population at large. Now one realizes that the CDC head as an Israeli citizen can go there when it gets bad enough here, and I am sure his former boss Bloomberg can go as well. Yet where do the white people go to get away from this plague?

While invasions of legal and illegal people of color come into the US with nary a health check, White South Africans who are being genocided, are rejected from asylum, from immigrating to America and if caught here are DEPORTED immediately.

Yet ebola carriers are welcome TODAY, in EBOLA nations in Africa the US government:
http://dailysignal.com/2014/10/16/us-embassies-ebola-stricken-countries-...

So one asks, well don't the architects of this assault on the historic American nation fear getting ebola themselves?
Well as I pointed above many of them can go to Israel. However one must understand the motivation for this crime against humanity, it is to ERADICATE their hated enemy from the face of the earth. That enemy is YOU!

In their genocidal rage against Whites they may be overlooking their own demise, yet their goal is worth it to them. Madness, I know, mayhaps due to their inbreeding. Just remember who unleashed this on you, and to blame Obongo is foolish he is the puppet, it is the PUPPET MASTERS that are the true culprits. Along with the Central Americans with their drug resistant TB and chagas and their ENTERO-VIRUS 68, it is all part of a plan. Your minds aren't evil, so you would never think that such a plan could be developed and activated. Yet think back to 1965 when they changed our immigration law to favor non-Whites, instead of the historic American people. They've planned long and hard and worked their black magic, so to speak.

Thu, 10/16/2014 - 12:13 | 5341856 Monty Burns

Laddie, I dont think they want to  ERADICATE their hated enemy from the face of the earth.  Instead they want Whites to feel limitless guilt for their (our) past evil deeds and thereby allow ourselves to become a deracinated hotch-potch of dumbed-down helots devoid of a sense of ethnic cohesion and with our traditional institutions hollowed out husks..

Bertrand Russell, in his book 'The Impact of Science on Society' (1953) p49-50, explains' "Gradually, by selective breeding, the congenital differences between rulers and ruled will increase until they become almost different species. A revolt of the plebs would become as unthinkable as an organised insurrection of sheep against the practice of eating mutton."

I need hardly point  out that we're the sheep.

Here's what a bio-geek acquaintance of mine had to say to his FB network, trying to get health care workers he knows to "do it right".

[START OF QUOTE]

Ok. Dear all friends who work in health care: I have important information for you about Ebola that you're apparently not going to get elsewhere; please read.

Ebola is a level 4 biohazard. This means that to be handled in a laboratory, it must be handled in a dedicated lab with full-isolation suits (which cover 100% of your body and have their own air supply), with the room's air and water outputs sterilized. The lab must be accessed only through decontamination areas (generally several in a row) where your suit can be decontaminated with bleach, which must sit wet on the suit for 10 minutes, then with UV radiation, and where you can shower immediately after removing the gear. That is the appropriate safety protocol for handling Ebola. The reason for this is that Ebola, unlike the "tame" common hospital infectious agents we have co-evolved with, is a "raw" (newly emerged) virus. It is extremely hazardous and extremely lethal. You need to treat it as though if you mishandle it, it will kill you, period.

I realize, as do you, that the hospital environment is nowhere near biosafety level 4, but I want you to realize how far away it is. A live Ebola patient is an extreme biohazard, even more so than a laboratory sample. Using hospital PPE to protect against Ebola is like wearing a raincoat to protect against automatic weapon fire. Your PPE must cover 100% of your body, it must be washable with bleach, and it must actually be washed with bleach. Paper anything or disposable anything is completely insufficient protection, and if anything has a special order for taking it off, you need different PPE because nothing is safe to take off until 100% of its surface has been washed with bleach and air dried. You'd be much better off with a Tyvex suit and full-face respirator from Home Depot sealed together with duct tape (and it might be a very good time for you to go buy these). You can't have people moving freely between spaces without decontamination or 70 people caring for one person. That stuff is going to Get. You. Killed.

If you work in health care and you have not previously read The Hot Zone, a non-fiction book about Ebola outbreaks, you need to buy it and read it. Then study the protocols from Doctors Without Borders (MSF). They require things like dedicated decontamination rooms, decontamination teams spraying each others' suits with bleach, and step-in pans of bleach solution separating rooms. They manage to do this in West Africa so we can manage to do it here. This is what the hazmat teams wear and they're going to be fine, but you guys need to protect yourselves. You need to know more than your supervising residents or hospital administrators, because the gear and protocols they are espousing is a complete joke. Ebola is a hazardous material and you need to treat it as such to protect yourself.

Good luck.
